It was a good experience.. The flavour of each dish was good and flavourful… Service was good.. But cleanliness is not that good which is very important for the restaurant to keep the place clean and hygiene.. Washroom and the tables need cleaning.. And the MAIDA PARATHA is too oily to handle.. Overall good experience.. Will definitely visit again..

Kasturi is one of the target restaurant for bd food lovers. It was operated since 1994 and the cooking still reminds me the taste of home. Truly speaking its food serving is unique. Beside that the taste of chicken or alur dum or special thali was mind blowing. Must visited place to have your lunch or dinner near new market area.

The atmosphere is decent. The food items were great. Specially, the mutton was heavenly. We visited on an occasion. So there was rush and most of the items were not available including thalis. That was a disappointment. Servicing and management was slow and can be improved. But the cook and food deserve the credit.

Location: Near Gariahat, walk straight down Dover Lane, next to Hindustan Club Durga Puja. Ambience: Lot of tables, buzzing with waiters and cleaning staff, feels quite stuffy. Tables were clean. Separate area with 3-4 washbasins, separate toilet room. Service: * Basic table service was fast. * No filtered drinking water available, you need to buy bottled mineral water. * Too many staff continuously bothering you to order for mocktails, they just never stop. Even when you say you are not interested, they keep on repeating if you will order. While still having the main course, they again bothered me if I will order icecream, very irritating way to upsell their items. Ordered: * Doi Ilish: Ilish was medium sized, not the best quality of fish. The gravy was tasty. Not worth the price of Rs 500. * Posto Bora: three very small pieces, crispy and perfectly spiced, but again not worth the price of Rs 150. * Gulab Jamun: two small pieces costing Rs 50. Not very soft, did not like it. Overall, prices are on the higher side, no filtered drinking water served, and continuously harassing for ordering mocktails is extremely irritating. Was not a good experience!

26th Dec lunch picture in the review tells that the only thing we could manage to finish was the rice 😊. Cold Luchi like papad, unnecessarily spicy food & rude staff makes this oldest Bengali restaurant as the worst place to have food. I came to Kolkata after a long time and I used to like this place a lot. But with time this place indeed has dropped his legacy of good food. There is lack of governance. Staff were so rude and had so much attitude that they are least bothered to explain the dish or take any feedback. They just don’t care. Sad to see that one of my best restaurants like this with such old memories getting ruined like this. Hope someone from the management look into this.

One of my favourite restaurants in Bengali cuisine. This is what I had there: - fish kasundi (as a starter) -luchi -chingri polao -alur dom -mutton kasha Every dish was lip smacking, specially polao n mutton combo was great. My favourite was luchi with mutton kasha. It made my day happier and my tummy full. Service was fast n around 7pm it was totally empty.

Too much bad experience I have had with kasturi dover lane, gariahat branch. I will suggest people who are heading for kasturi after 3PM,kindly not to go there else you will recall my review. The floor executives are in hurry to go to their home, waiters are not co-operative and will delay your lunch as long they can. They will serve anyhow the item you will order. Trust me the owner is purely humane. I want to attract his attention. I can complain on 21st aug, 2022 but I didn't do. I think they should be clear to their role else fix a time that you will not available after 3 PM. Receiving order after delaying 1 hour then the item is not well cleaned on your top of the table specially prawn wasn't washed that day. Mutton pieces were so small and with bone but you are taking 310 rs for 3 pieces. Kindly look after this and deliver fresh. I didn't take the prawn maharaja photo but my opinion which I faced is genuine.

It was a good food experience! Going to a Bengali restaurant and having only veg... I was a bit sceptical...but surprisingly I had quite a few options. I chose to have the shukto mini thali where together with shukto they serve rice, Sona moong dal and jhuri alu bhaja, I also ordered separately dhokar dalna. All food items were tasty and well prepared. Gandhoraj ghol was good too.🤩

Very authentic and tasty Bengali dishes. I tried mutton thali mini which was superb. For starter I tried fish cutlet. I would certainly recommend this restaurant. Moreover extra points for the ambience.

Visited on a Monday evening. Restaurant was mostly empty. Only one other customer was seated. Atmosphere is average with algae green upholstery and brick theme wall lining in interiors with life size creatives. We were guided by the waiter on selection of dishes. We ordered Bhetki Paturi, Shorshe Hilsa and Kochupatta Diye Chingri Bhappa. The wait time was negligible. The waiter also guided us for the sequence in which the food be eaten for best savour. I can only sum it up that every bite was worth it. The aroma, the taste and the texture ....feel on taste buds... it was awesome. I made a repeat order for carrying home for relieving the tastes. Request to Admin : improvement of washroom experience. Though the fittings are from Jaguar brand, cleanliness needs improvement. Urinal/commode area needed focus. Since most customers would be using hand for meals, wash basins are practically placed. However, the taps are higher than desired. This results in water splashing onto clothes, while washing. Soap dispenser was not refilled. No paper towel was placed nearby. Notwithstanding ibid, the taste compensates all. Definitely recommend and will revisit.

We tried several of their thalis and except Shorshe Pabda the rest were great choices. Our order for Lime soda sweet was mixed up for Shikanji, but this faux pa was redeemed with original nolen gur Ice Cream for desert. Service was fast. Place could use little better up keep in wash basin area.

The food is delicious if you like authentic Bengali cuisine. Try kachu patha chingri, fish fry, chicken gandhoraj, mutton kasha, basanti polao, sarse ilish, chutney. Also the nolen gurer icecream. However if you visit during peak hours, be prepared to wait.

Am reviewing it late, so - all the details are not imprinted fresh any more. Still - one thing I can vouch for is - rarely we had a lunch as good as that. Our full family enjoyed it whole. All the dishes, all the items. We ordered a lot, finished it quickly and then savored the lingering taste of the delicious foods in our mouth sitting in there and sipping onto the double lime sweet and salted soda (perfectly tuned). Not to mention the joy of shedding out so less for all those delicacies also. Yes, Kasturi is very much pocket friendly. Loved it ❤️❤️❤️

Kochupata vapa chingri, lebu lonka murgi was very good....daab chingri was more on the sweeter side. Postor Bora was nice too....only disappointment was the sorshe ilish....ilish was totally tasteless. Gondholebu soda shikanjee was great, and the champion was Nolen Guerer Ice cream. Staff behaviour and service was very good.

Went here on Saptami day. We were 8 of us. Took entry at 12:00pm. They adjusted the tables to accommodate 8 of us. We ordered virgin mojito(average), basanti pulao(nice), fish fingers(good), steamed rice(felt like steamed rice only 😂), mutton kosha(delicious), chicken dhakai bhuna(good, felt like chicken curry only), dhoka r dalna bhoj (good), misti doi(average). Due to the rush and excessive zomato/swiggy services it took quite a decent amount of time to serve the items. The hand wash area and even toilets were quite good and clean. Overall nice food and nice experience. We exited at 2:30 pm.

Full Bengali theme. Liked the ambience, you can hear classic Bengali songs playing in the background. Food is good. We ordered Thalis and it was like too many things and too much to eat. basanti pulao was too sweet. Rest all food was awesome. Really liked the place, i recommend this to everyone.

Kasturi is quite famous for bengali food. Went to the Hindustan Road branch for dinner. As we ordered our food and was waiting found cockroach crawling over the table. Complained to the waiter who did nothing and said pest control will happen the next day. We changed the table by ourselves. It spoiled our mood. The food ordered was okay, nothing to be like wow. I Personally will not prefer to go again.

Real authentic Bengali flavours in a budget. Tried varity of dishes, kasturi has multiple outlets and neither of it is disappointing, their thalis are economical and comprises of plenty of items. I tried fish, prawn, mutton, chicken thalis and everything was apt I would like to particularly mention about the one of the fish dish cooked in banana leaf with mustard oil for me it was delicious but my friend found the flavours too strong so I don't know how it might taste to you but you can definitely give it a try and yes consider having their mishti doi they serve amazing one and if you're about to order a thali you don't need to order desserts individually as it comes whole in a thali.

Lots of vegetarian options. I liked the taste of vegetables, dal and rice which our operater has suggested to us. Being a vegetarian i didn't expect anything but to my surprise it came out really good. The taste of mixed vegetable was really good along with dal with peas. Note - 1 plate dal and vegetables quantity is for 1 so make sure you order accordingly. The dining is really good (upscale sitting). The price is also not very very expensive.

The heat and the humidity in the city is growing unbearable, with not a drop of rain in sight! But the new Joishtho Thali recently launched by Kasturi is a refreshing and wholesome relief from the otherwise unforgiving weather. Although the thalis in Kasturi are very popular, this is a new and limited addition. The thali is also shareable between two people. So you should hurry and take the opportunity ASAP! The Joishtho Thali (জৈষ্ঠ্য থালি) includes: • Aam Panna Sharbat • Basmati Rice • Maacher matha diye dal • Jhur Jhure aloo bhaja • Kochupata diye Chingri Bhapa • Basanti Pulao • Mutton Daakbunglow with egg • Sheel-e-bata murgi • Salad • Chutney, Papad • Roshogolla • Fruits- Mango and litchis. The price of the thali depends on the fish you choose. There are four options: • Bhetki Paturi (889) • Daab Chingri (899) • Katla Kalia (819) • Shorshe Ilish (1119) We chose the Bhetki Paturi thaali. Now coming to the food and taste, everything was very well made! The quantity of the dal, chingri bhapa, etc was very good and suitable for two people with a medium appetite. We especially liked the Sheel e bata murgi. It was something absolutely new that we tried and would love to try again. Tastes amazing with the basmati rice! Coming to the mutton and the pulao, they were the perfect combination. The egg in the mutton was also very tasty. The gravy could be better, but the tenderness and juicy texture of the mutton made up for everything. Coming to the bhetki Paturi, it could have been better. The shorshe posto marination became a little hard, and not the usual gooey texture. The taste was also average. The fish tasted nice though. So overall it was decent. We also tasted some of their mocktails, Virgin Mojito and Blue Curacao. They tasted nice and was very refreshing. Coming to the ambience, any place with an air conditioning is a big big win in this heat. The interior decor is like any other Bangali restaurant in Kolkata. Seating arrangement is cozy and comfortable. The service was very amazing as well. Our orders were delivered within 10 minutes, and the staff are very friendly and cooperative. Overall, it was a very amazing experience.

Kasturi is a brand that is quite renowned to the people of Kolkata. I had opted for their delivery and gave a shot to their Aloo R Dum and Channar Dalna. Both of the dishes were lip smacking. Although their Aloo r dum were a bit spicy for my palate, the overall experience can be considered as good. Happy eating.

In my opinion it is a fine dine bengali restaurant only from outside. Decor is nothing fancy. Rather when I went there a section of the restaurant was flooded with dirty water. Very bad washroom and handwash. Food is absolutely not dhakai food. I never knew sugar is added in dhakai food. Very oil. However fish quality and pieces are good. Service is very slow. There is one server who takes order and settles the bill. Pice hotel in South Kolkata is recommended over this place

Excellent food. Just pick up the menu card and put your finger on any dish. You'll not repent. Have tried Kosha mangsho, few varieties of prawns, chitol muithya, rui Kalia, even dal n aaloo bhaja. This time - there was a little disappointment. Craving for food with the "bangal" touch to it? Kasturi will not disappoint you. I have recently tried some of the delicacies and would stake my reputation as a food enthusiast any day on their Fish Fingers, Prawn Mini Cutlet, Kochu Pata diye Chingri, Bhetki Paturi and Dhakai Kosha Mangsho. These would certainly take any foodie on a heavenly gastronomic trip. However my affair did not end without its share of disappointments, the Gondhoraj chicken strips were pathetic and can't believe they screwed up Luchi. The service was sloppy as well as we had to send back the food to be served hot on couple of ocassions. Also not every item on the menu was available , as we did not get Sheel-e-bata Prawn. The pocket pinch is rather on the easier side which is a big plus.

*Follow kolkata.foodie.dibyajit at Instagram and Zomato for more drooling pics and unbiased reviews* I strongly recommend Kasturi for their awesome bengali food. I have been there any a times and have tried many dishes. One of my most recent visits to Kasturi was with my family members. I like the way the restaurant is maintained and also the way, they maintain the food quality. The price is also with in budget. My picks from this restaurant are : Bhhat, jhuri aloo bhaja, posto bora, chingri maach diye moong daal, aloo posto, sheel e batta chicken, dak banglow chicken, tel koi, bhetki paturi, chutney and aam doi. Special mentions are : smoked bhetki and fish kabiraji.
