We've had dinner on 9th November and it was out of this world. Tenzing took care of us. He suggested a lovely starter and we have had Yellow prawn curry as suggested by Aditya earlier on. The cocktail was fantastic and service was excellent. We went to Ban Thai for breakfast this morning as 363 was busy. We had a fabulous service, awesome food and brilliant ambience. We are happy and will visit again. Aditya and Tenzing are part of a great team. Even the Chef came to our table and his preparation was wonderful. All the young men and the lady were very polite, kind and thoroughly professional. We wish them all well in their future venture.

Inside Oberoi hotel, Baan Thai is a fine-dining restaurant which all of you ought to be visiting at least once in your life. After all, this place indulges you in a culinary experience like never before. With soothing Oriental music playing in the background, sombre lighting, authentic Thai decor, and delectable food, this place really accounts for a captivating experience. Additionally, this place also offers floor seating - the traditional way to eat according to customs in Thailand - that only adds to its authentic aura. Moving on to their food, of their exquisite menu, be sure to order the Tom Yum Soup, Baan Thai Kaeng Luang, and Phad Takrai However prices are on higher side

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Kolkata. However, todays's experience left a lot desired. Towards the end of the meal we asked for some hot water. We were disgusted to see a light brown color when I poured the water. Turns out they served the water in a (not properly washed) tea kettle. When we got the cheque a confused waiter told us something along the lines of the Jasmine tea was complimentary when he was referring to the impure hot water? We reserved a table for 6, but they thought it was for 3 (and consequently could not have the table ready in time) The starter was unavailable We had a young kid with us who for many reasons eats only simple Indian food however that was initially denied by the manager. We knew the previous manager who was always very understanding of this problem and helped us out. Only after mentioning this was he convinced. (To their credit this food was complimentary and the little one really loved it) I recall a much better system where one would only need to order the gravy. That has been removed The desserts are simply not worth what's charged for them The main course was excellent but the portions were awkward in that we had a lot of rice left but not enough to justify adding another gravy. Most of these problems are minute, but these little details in service and hospitality are the reasons one opts to eat at some place like The Grand Hotel. After today's shabby service, I do not think I will come back here anytime soon.

Good Thai foods in town. However you might not get authentic taste of Thai food here. Prices are a bit high comparing to the portion n quality you will get. Recommend for foreigners who never tried Thai food before.

We ordered continental, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese cuisine. Always ask for mineral water..never go for normal water. This place is good for family get together.. birthday celebrations..etc.

A very special mention to their courteous staff members, they are absolutely humble and helpful- just like we expect in a classy,heritage place. In Baan Thai, they have several types of sitting arrangements including normal fine dine-in in chairs to traditional Thai sitting on floor with fixed cushions at the back for your comfort. Coming to food now,had tried- Mango Panna Cotta- Rs.550, Kai Krapaw- Rs.1375, Jasmine Rice, Lemon Ice Tea- Rs.410. Mango Panna Cotta is one of the best dessert I have in the city- a creamy, smooth dessert made with mango, cream and milk. Presentation was absolutely eye pleasing. Kai Krapaw is minced chicken stir fried with chilli and hot basil,so it's a bit spicy dish; perfect to go with simple aromatic Jasmine Rice. Overall, you cannot always compare everything with price- sometimes luxury, heritage and quality worth your hardworks- Baan Thai may not be your regular go-to-go place,but this definitely will be an ideal restaurant for your special days or that day in the year.

Very delicious thai food. The steamed fish in lime and ginger sauce was light and refreshing. The staff were the nicest - super attentive without being overwhelming. Made excellent recommendations based on my preference. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic thai place in Kolkata.

Incredible service from the whole team. I had private authentic floor seating. A candle. And a server that brought me extra spicy sauce, dished my food on my plate, and even gave me a complimentary dessert. It was a bit pricey, but the service, quality of food, and ambience were worth it! Sabita and Tenzing were amazing!!

Baan Thai( The Oberoi Grand) was one of those best speciality restaurants in Kolkata, known for their authentic Thai delicacies. With beautiful wooden interiors and courteous staff, a visit to this restaurant is a must. Went last night for dinner and had a brilliant meal! For amuse-bouche we had a small cube cut watermelon, gherkins marinated in sweet vinegar, along with Starter Chicken satay with peanut butter sauce, Por pia thod (prawn) followed by Glass Noodles and sauteed vegetables. For the main course, we went Chicken Thai Green with steamed rice, Tofu marinated with chilly, honey, black pepper. We also had an orange cheese pastry. Overall, dinner was an absolute delight! 5/5 for everything. But the service was moderate and too slow. The wooden interior of the restaurant is awesome.

If you want to experience Thailand in Kolkata, give it a try. Chef's soecial Fish in Yellow Curry and Jasmine Rice was delicious. Avoid alcohol as it's costly. Forgot the name of the dessert, it was basically a white liquid flavored with coconut and it was quite unique and delicious.

Had an amazing time at baan Thai! Did a pick up and they were so attentive and brought the food so nicely. They threw in a papaya salad too! My family truly enjoyed the meal. Reminded them of times in Thailand. We are excited to try it in the restaurant soon!

This place is a gem. A slightly overpriced place but the food is an absolute Thai experience. The starter on pork ,the Thai yellow curry and the desert with coconut milk makes you feel somewhere in Kraby itself. The service is also very good.

Has been a dream of mine to dine here since my childhood days when I used to walk around Oberoi during my summer visits to Kolkata. Finally got a chance last Sunday and I took it. As chances go this visit was 50:50 on good:bad ratio. Not sure of the hype and the price given that a visit there wouldn't be vastly different from a visit to Mocambo (appearance wise). Food quality and innovation was sub-par for the hole it burned in my pocket. Easily Avoidable

It is just great! The ambience and the people are really hospitable and caring. The food is great and when you are visiting do try their chef's special yellow curry it's too good.

We went to this cafe couple of times and we like the variety they serve. Staff are quick to serve and interior is beautiful with options to read and relax and chat for hours. The only problem is of parking which you need to do on main road but be careful of 'No Parking' board. Also sometimes, especially during weekends evening you may have to wait which is annoying at times. But overall lovely ambience, nice music and good food.

It's a beautifully decorated in house restaurant of Oberoi Grand Kolkata. They serve delicious Thai food. But it's expensive. Cost of two is 4500.00

I loved the food here. The soup was light but flavourful. Kai Yang was really tasty. The green curry was watery and little intense in flavour for my taste. But overall I will give 4.6 stars. I will recommend this restaurent if you love Thai food. You will taste the authentic Thai flavours here.

We went to Baan thai for our anniversary. And the treatment was amazing. I asked not to settle us in the middle of the crowd, so they gave us a cabin 😍. The food was amazing. Staffs were really courteous. And they treat us with a complimentary desert and a side dish, which was amazing. We had: Nam prik phao Kai yang Stir fried glass noodle Martinis Cheese cake

All the food was exceptional we kept going back as every time the whole experience was faultless. The staff always went above and beyond. They were very knowledgeable and careful with my food allergies. If there was a 6th star they would get it. thank you all staff and I hope you are all safe at these times .

The place, ambience, food everything was great. Only little bit costly because this restaurant is inside a 5-star hotel.the kai-yang was the best. The salad that was served with kai-yang was so fresh and authentic. Green curry was having very intense lime flavour I felt, as I have already tried green curry in Thailand itself. But this one felt too much flavourful which honestly I didn't like. Apart from that, hospitality was also very good. Must visit place.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Kolkata.. coming from Oberoi, fantastic service is expected (and they deliver). The decor is nice (and Thai), seating sections carefully designed (including sit in private sections) and the food impeccable. I am a big fan of their fish preparations, as well as soups and salads. Normally only opens for dinner during weekdays, but with some restoration work in the hotel, is open for lunch these days. Wine collection is nice if you like a drink!
