Its a small Restaurant in a ground floor house... The best Idly I have ever had, including the idli s i had in chennai, Bangalore or other so called best South Indian restaurants... I had traditional idli , Podi idli (chilli powder smeared on idli), sada vada, and massala dhosa. Though price of idli/vada a bit high Rs 50/ piece. But it worth it. all items were very tasty but idli is THE BEST. A must go place who loves South Indian food. Else you will miss the Best Idli on earth its like idli got vanished in the mouth like a fine mishti paan. Really awesome food. Ambience is not so good but homely. its on Lake road (Sarat bose end 100 feet away) Opens 6 am -12 noon eve at 4 pm -9.30 pm MONDAY CLOSED

It is indeed one of the oldest places in Kolkata serving South Indian food. Now, it is popularly known as Bhupendra Mansion. It had been closed for almost more than a year because of covid. But now, I am happy to say that it has recently reopened. The food is good, idly , sambhar, vada, dosa s,etc .This place also serves good filter coffee. Please Note: This is not accepting payments via cards. Only cash! New Update is that I came to know just yesterday, it's not accepting cards on Sundays only! Next visit today 7th August 2022, same opinion about food and place

Ramakrishna linch home more popularly known as bhupendra mansion (the premise name) or even so 'Bhuppi'.. Have been visiting here since eternity.. from years since a kid.. it serves one of the best idlis in town.. which melts the moment u take it in your mouth.. The place is bustling with morning walkers .. n u hv to wait to get a seat.. however wait is not that long because it is fast moving.. it is a quaint restaurant.. nothing fancy in this place no formal sitting.. no decor.. but it's just the food why u wld go there . Soft melting idlis . Crisp vadas.. n filter 'Kafee' (coffee).. served also traditionally in steel glass n vessel... There is more to the menu.. however they r normal dosas n uttapam n likes.. Do not miss idli with special chutney.. n filter coffee.. it just cannot fail you!! N yes a place which is just for all age group . Kid to parents to grand parents to all.. n all wld love it.. 😊

This is located very near to Lake Mall. Very homely atmosphere which upholds the essence of a real south indian joint. It serves mostly all the south indian delicacies. We ordered Masala Dosa and Paper Masala Dosa. The chutney and sambar tasted realy good. We were served in stainless steel plates which made us feel just like home. The masala had too much of ginger which I personally did not like. The staff were polite and courteous. Our bill amounted to β‚Ή195 as per the menu card but they charged 200. Upon enquiry they said tax was extra. After getting the bill it was β‚Ή194.6. As I enquired they returned β‚Ή6. I did not quite get this action of theirs. Did they charge for tips without even asking the customer? Anyways I did not take back the β‚Ή6 and left. Being an ardent restaurant reviewer for almost 4years now, this kind of unproffesionalism is not expected.

Quality of food is good but very costly in comparison, idly size is big but one idly costs 55/- rupees. Sambhar taste is not good. Person sitting on the counter is rude, he should be polite with customer. They charge for the containers.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of a house off Sarat Bose road. The cuisine is strictly south Indian... With a wonderful range of dosa s, uttapam, podi idli.. Vada s and upmas ... The place is air conditioned and is a favourite for many. If you are looking for authentic south Indian cuisine, this is a must hop in place apart from udupi

This is one of the oldest udupi restaurant in deshopriyo park area. Restaurant has that old charm specially crowded during morning hours in weekend. People njoying there dosa and filter coffee. Service was quite fast and friendly. Tried there butter masala dosa and filter coffee where dosa came with dollop of white butter it was perfectly crispy prepared with fresh batter . Filter coffee was quite authentic one could get in Kolkata.

Decent place for good South Indian food. Liked their masala dosa and onion masala uttapam. I found the price of filter coffee a bit high (55 each).

Badly designed menu. Iddlies are always to be calculated as a set. Here they calculate per piece. Customers be warned. Exhorbidant rate for food. Quality is fine. Getting South Indian food is tough. Cleanliness requires major improvement. The seating arrangements should avoid the view of kitchen areas. May be they should cut the area from the customer with a different interior styling.

Firstly, the good things - Great location, AC seating. The bad parts - felt grossly overpriced. Lackluster service. I would recommend Rao's Udupi, located a couple of lanes away. Their prices are far reasonable and taste is better too.

Have been going here since a kid and the taste or quality of food has been consistently good. Prices are insane, but worth a visit to taste authentic south Indian flavours. Medu Vada and idli dipped In sambar are the all time favs.

Visited on Sunday morning for Brunch. After waiting for 20 mins without any que system got hold of a table. This needs to be improved & a proper que management needs to be done. Food - My review of food could be biased as I've been eating authentic South Indian cuisine since school at my South Indian friends. Onion Uttapam - Oily & average taste. Idly - 2 pieces per plate was very soft & good. Sambar was poor, Chutney very good. Onion masala Dosa - Oily & masala tasteless. Ghee Paper masala Dosa - Oily & masala tasteless. Wada - Average Fried Idly - Below average. Coffee - Average. Service & Staff - Very courteous & efficient. Atmosphere - Needs to be seriously upgraded, hand wash area to neat and clean. Location - Easily can be spotted. One request to the management - Please change the taste as this is ok for people who have not been to south India but this is not authentic considering the price. Will visit again to give a 2nd review.

Food is best and fresh , less parking, place is tiny and old , the only reason one will go back is the taste , price is cheap their chutney and sambar are consistent and free. But visit if your in kolkata.

Nothing to write home about. Wish they would paint the walls, the place seems like it has seen better days. Overall decent food. And seems like they maintain hygiene.

The owner refuses to listen to any complaints. They pack chutney in banana leaf and it never tears . Today they packed in thin aluminium foil with newspaper - entire chutney came out . Complained to the person who takes calls - NO IMPORTANCE GIVEN.

Look no where else if you are in the mood for a quick and reasonable south Indian fixation for breakfast. Piping hot food served on the table promptly. Loved their hot vadas and sambar. Very basic interiors and not a great place if you want to take it easy, hang around or spend time here.

The idlis served here are probably the best in Kolkata. Along with the fresh coconut chutney and the tangy and sweet Sambhar, makes it a delicious breakfast. Though priced Rs 55 + each, they might appear steep, but good things never come cheap πŸ˜€

Despite loosing on the authenticity of real South Indian Food that I am used to to Rao's Udipi Home , RamaKrishna Lunch Home serves delicious food. The idlis are soft and the Dosas are cooked to perfection. The seating is compromised and the staff is cordial. But it lacks service. I hope the management looks into these issues. Also , they don't accept online modes of payment. Parking is also a hassle.

The staff who sits at the billing counter is very rude and mannerless. I placed an order via Zomato and few items were missing in it. When called the restaurant to inform he answered the call and rudely replied saying the you need to speak to Zomato, what we had to give we have given now it's your problem and disconnected the call. Very rude person. Owner should teach him some manners, despite he working with you restaurant for so many years he has no manners to talk to customers I have notice that earlier as well when I visit your outlet every weekend. Being an old and regular customer, I've noticed that all waiters are polite except this cashier cum telephone operator of yours.

Great food... Really soft idlis and yummy chutney... The sambhar didn't do much for me, but the idli and chutney more than made up for it. Been visiting this place for over 40 years and they've still maintained their quality. The staff was very friendly and very prompt service.... Over all a great breakfast...

  • 3/5 Samya D. 1 year ago on Google
This place deserves 5 stars based on food quality and taste but I am giving 3 stars because of the overall staff behaviour. They are not at all welcoming, specially the cashier. Moreover, no one is even bothered with their behaviour, because I have seen multiple complaints about the staffs in Zomato but there is no improvement. This place remains pretty crowded during the breakfast time and it serves really good south indian breakfast but the staffs atleast the cashier needs to be replaced asap.

Authentic South Indian Snacks only. Very rustic feel but taste is superb. Slightly overpriced but worth at the end. Do try idli it’s no less than cheesecake.

Famous for its idly and vada. Though the sambhar is not upto the mark. But the worst feature of this eatery is the behavior of the staff. The manager is arrogant, rude and not at all customer friendly. This is just not my observation, this is a feedback from many other loyal customers . Most of them are now moving to places like Curry Patta ,Banana Leaf ,Udipi and Premavillas all of who are eager to please customer. #boycottthemanager #Ramkrishnalunchhome #Atrocious #pathetic #manager

If you are looking for quality south indian delicacies - Idly, Dosa, Rava Dosa,Paper Dosa,Sambar Vada abd Uttapam then this place is good for you to have a filling meal. This place has a traditional bengali cum south indian lunch home vibes. I would recommend trying puddu idly here which is idly topped with spicy gun powder prepared inhouse sauce and paper butter masala dosa. I enjoy Sambar Vada here which is like home prepared and is of superior quality. Filter coffee always follows.

Unbelievably crisp dosas that melt in the mouth. It is exactly the same down to earth place what it was many decades ago and you'll probably miss it if you don't know the location. No large signboard to advertise it's existence!

Fantastic food the coconut chutney was outstanding.. do not expect an ultra modern professional approach. It is more of an old school south indian food joint...njoy the food...that is the USP...

I used to eat breakfast here very often (mostly dosa and plain vada) they no doubt! Have the tastiest food I have ever had, and I've been to most restraunts in Kolkata at least, they are the best, fast service so you won't starve lol, delicious chutney and sambar, best breakfast place!! Highly recommended πŸ™β€ Ps. I have been craving their food for the longest time, as I'm not it kolkata anymore, it's been over a year and a half but I still think of their dosa and vada all the time, being really serious πŸ₯Ί can't wait to eat at bhupendra mansion again ❀ *Review is based on food of nearly 2 yrs ago, before covid hit India*
