Not sure of how others might react to the review. My experience regarding the quality of food available wasn't great or good either. Two of my friends who were with me felt the same that the quality of food was not up to the standard it claims to be or as the price goes by. The ambience is quite good with nice sitting area. ORDERS are of be made by scanning the QR code available at the table. Staffs were friendly.

Would have given this place four stars for its food, and service, had it not been for an odd incident. We were a group of seven, and of course there was conversation, when this person ( probably the restaurant receptionist) came up to us , and asked us to keep it down. Well, we were NOT being noisy, and I pointed out as much. He mumbled something, and left. The servers were extremely helpful, and the food was great! The steamed chicken momos were juicy, and I would definitely recommend the mixed fried rice.

Actual Rating- 4.5/5 This is one of my favourite places to eat at and I have visited it numerous times. I love most of the dishes that I have tried here and would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat. Some of my absolute favourites here are the Pork Kothay, Chicken Wings in Chilli Butter Sauce, and Kimchi Fried Rice. Besides these, the Mutton Momo, Pork Thenthuk Soup, Stir Fried Flat Noodles, and Chilli Pork (loved the flavour in this one but the meat itself was a bit dry and chewy) are pretty delicious as well. However, I'm not a fan of their phaleys or chicken shapta and think they can be given a miss while ordering. The food is reasonably priced and the portion sizes are quite big. Apart from that, the ambience is warm and welcoming. There's option to seat both on chairs and on the floor, which I love about this place. The staff is extremely polite and courteous and the servics is pretty quick. Please keep in mind that they remain closed from 3:30 pm to 5pm and plan your visit accordingly!

Firstly the ambience is very good. Very clean and tidy place, located in the Sikkim House.Their behavior was very courteous. Very mouth watering food in just your pocket pinch. Now a days Tibetan food available here and there but I found a native touch in theirs. The momos were marvellously juicy and soft. Very good food. One should must try their momos.

The atmosphere was pretty good and I loved the concept of sitting on the floor and dining. Tried the chicken momo, qewa datsi, and garlic noodles. The food was okay, a bit too oily compared to what I would have preferred.

Nice cozy little place for Tibetan cuisine. It has both table chair as well as floor seating arrangements. It's a great place for hanging out with friends and with family too. The food quality is really great and quantity can be increased a little bit but overall it's a great experience.

Read mixed reviews about the place. But when the visionary behind the place is bestowed the title of “Momo Queen of India”…a visit becomes mandatory. Ordered: - The Kothey: While I normally love the “pork dumplings” category more than the chicken (personally think the fat makes them juicer)…must say the chicken Kothey were better. But both absolutely fresh and delicious. The dip along with it was just brilliant. - Butter chilli wings: Finger licking good…the umami hits at a different level. But a tad bit greasy. - Chicken Thukpa: Clean and fresh on the palate. - Chilli pork: Well made. The meat was soft and succulent. - Prawn wafers: I’m sure the folks took them out of a pack & fried them…but so glad we ordered them…twice 😅 The waiting staff could definitely do better with their service. Concluding: Doma Wang did a helluva job in creating this space by herself. The place still holds its charm….and is well worth a visit.

Yesterday, I was at Blue Poppy Thakali, near Maidan metro station. Have heard about this place serving authentic Nepalise thalis. Well, I was there to try out their momos and dine-in specially in the Japanese dining area. The ambience is cozy and comfortable. The place is well sanitized and clean. Talking about the food, we had steamed chicken momos. The momos were undoubtedly very good and juicy. For the main course, we had Kimchi mixed fried rice, and Chicken shapta gravvy. The kimchi fried rice was good, loved it. Yet, a negative point is, the chicken shapta was quite less in quantity, compared to the price. This could have been improved. Overall, I had a very good experience. I will definitely visit this place again, specially for the momos!

Wonderful Nepali food. The restaurant is located at the back of the building, with parking available. We tried: - Steam Pork Dumplings with Garlic Hot Sauce - steamed chicken dumplings - pan fried pork dumplings - veg and pork thali Everything was delicious. The pickles on the Thalia were amazing.

This place offers authentic Tibetan cuisine. They prices are pretty reasonable and the portions were good. Their momo should be a must try for folks visiting here as it tastes very different from our very own Kolkata version.

This place is awesome. Location is very nice. Just near the maidan metro station. Inside Sikkim House, Middleton street. Best place to try Nepali Dish. They have very unique way to order food from your table through online. But they change the menu very frequent. Must try : Crispy Chilli Pork, Pork Kothey, Pineapple Pork. Ambiance is very nice and friendly. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is maintaining all the covid protocol. Please visit and try. Recommend 👍🏻

Food here was delicious. Definitely recommend having the Chicken Kothey Momos. We ordered Chilli Chicken and Veg Hakka Noodles. The noodles were great, the chilli chicken could be a little better. We also tried their Caramel custard which was good but did not hit the spot for me. The atmosphere is great, good for small groups as well as couples. They have both traditional seating on the floor as well as tables and chairs. One can choose as per their preference. They had a lot of choices for condiments. The app interface to order food works really smooth but their service can be better. Overall a good and somewhat pocket-friendly place if you are hungry and around Parkstreet/Maidan.

Loved the atmosphere and their service. Specially like the ground seating arrangements. Somewhat didn't like the chicken wings in chilly butter sauce. It was very buttery and not at all spicy but loved the momo. Will visit again to try some other dishes.

I went on a lunch alone at The blue poppy thakali and had ordered chicken kothey, chicken fried rice based on the recommendation of the server. This was my first time trying chicken Kothey and I was absolutely amazed and shocked that I had never heard or Tried this dish before. Chicken fried rice was very fresh and they served a lot. The ambience was alright and the food overall had a good taste, however nothing extraordinary. Good thing is that use digital menu cards and there is no wait time as such.

The food and atmosphere is fantastic. The menu and price is also reasonable. Make sure that you keep time in hand for dinner plans. Because not only on festive days but on regular days also there is rush. Try having food on the sofas, because that gives in a different feeling. The location is also easily available on Google maps.

I liked it so much. There r two options for sitting u can sit on a table chair or u can sit on the floor sitting with tables. the momo chutney is so delicious 😋🤤. Kothay momo i have tried it's juicy and soft and the chicken wings with butter sauce are too good it has butter like taste and a bit spicy. Overall it's a cozy, peaceful , authentic one. Will visit soon .

The place is located at Sikkim House near to Vardhan Market .. It undoubtedly serves some authentic delicious and lip smacking Himalayan cuisines .. It's one of the most sought after places to have authentic momos. The ambience is really good as it also provides two types of sitting arrangements. One will definitely fall in love with the food ...

Almost all the foods were good. Kothe Momo or else known as Gyoza is a must try. Slightly crispy on the outside and juicy inside was lipsmacking delicious. I would recommend not to go for any pan fried momos as well. As simple momos here taste much better. Don't go for tony's fried pork like we did. Go with the basics and stick with must try list in zomato. It was too sweet for me i would say even you can go for chili pork.(you can't go wrong in that) But other than that everything else was exceptional.

This place is an Oriental paradise. They serve absolute delicious dishes, with quiet a sufficient portion. Each and every dish tastes amazing. I wish I could give it a 10 star. One of the best places to have a chilli pork dry! Highly recommended!! I had a coke, popo's fried rice, chill pork dry and hot garlic chicken for lunch.

The actual hyped Sikkim House for it’s Momos is here, “The Blue Poppy Thakali”. The Sikkim House has another restaurant at the 1st Floor of Sikkim House with the name of “The Gangtok Kitchen” which many might mistake it for the Sikkim House’s Momo. Now, to begin with. Being the person where visiting every Chinese Cuisine now and then is a common task. Gotta says this place offers food in the best quality along with the service. Too quickly served on table. Qr menu on table order is available.

  • 4/5 Arkamit D. 10 months ago on Google
The food and the ambience really stands out. The service was also good but I don't know why they added Service Charge by default (it was removed when asked for) but I have never seen a restaurant of this category separately charging Service Charge. Coming to the food, we had 1. Crispy Pork in Chilly Butter Sauce 2. Mutton Steamed Momo 3. Oyester Basil Noodles 4. Non-veg Thukpa Noodles Soup 5. Kothy Chicken Momo 6. Blue Lemonade 7. Green Apple Mojito I really liked sitting on the floor arrangement which I don't think is present in many restaurants in Kolkata.

Situated in the Sikkim house in Middleton street, it's known for its iconic Sikkimese food. Ambience is basic and traditional floor seating is also available. We were here for a team lunch and ordered Chicken Kothay, Mixed Hakka Noodles, Mixed Fried Rice and Chicken Manchurian. For beverages we ordered Lime Mojito and fresh lime. I have been coming to Blue Poppy for the last 10 years and have witnessed the gradual decline in food taste & service. The Iconic Chicken Kothay, Noodles and Fried rice lived up to the expectations. The Chicken Manchurian was cold and hard like stone as if they were frozen and immediately tossed in some tomato sauce. We returned it as it was not edible. The restaurant replaced it with some bassa fish Manchurian which was delicious. The beverages were tasteless and looked like coloured water. Overall the experience was a let down. There are far better places serving traditional sikkimese food with better taste and service.

The place is small but it feels very comfy. We sat on the ground like you see on Japanese households which was nice. You can sit on ground or choose the table option but waiting time can be high if you prefer a ground table. Coming to the food, we ordered kimchi rice, thupka and pork in chilly butter sauce. the kimchi rice was good and you will get the vinegar flavour bombs sometimes. Thupka was okay. Coming to the chilly pork (in butter sauce), it might be underrated if I say it was just good. It was too good. The batter was crispy and with each bite you would get a chilly butter hit, it was also juicy yet crispy. Mainly the batter was really well prepared.

Went to this restaurant for lunch, the ambience was very good. We tried Chicken kothey, Egg fried rice and Chicken Shyapta. Food tasted exceptionally good and the portion was decent. Price is very reasonable. Only the service and hospitality could have been a little better. Overall good experience. Would love to visit again.

TBH disappointed a bit. Was expecting much more from legendary Doma Wang's franchise. Did not get the taste which I had at Shim Shim, which is another franchise of her. In frame 1) Mutton Steam momo - had the flavour of mutton but lacks the juice which I was expecting 2) Chicken Kothey - it's quite good 3) Mixed Fried Rice - butter was added which is quite uncommon, however only tastes good if you eat it piping hot 4) Chilli Fish - neither good nor bad. Also had dry chilli Pork - which was awesome 5) Momo noodles - again neither good nor bad. Hope they reopen Shim Shim so I can have their heavenly beef Momo and Mongolian beef

Awesome food, beautiful ambience and music. Even the staffs and manager is too good. There are different sections for sitting... We chose the part, sitting on cushions over the floor. Altogether it was a superb environment. Already went there thrice with my friends, would love to visit again and again for the lingering taste of each food. I loved the Japanese Cheese Cake, it's taste was heavenly! U can also try pork ribs, open momos. 😍❤😍.

A place you must visit to try authentic taste of momos and so on. ALU CHEESE MOMO is something that I tired for first time there and believe me never ever I though the taste of alu and cheese can be so fricking good presented in cute wooden box. KOTHE (one side is fried, another side is steamed ) is a must try item you should order according to your choice of meat. The juicy tender texture of Kothe will take you to another dimension for some moment. Try PARO PORK as well, pork is cooked with soury flavour that also comes with a choice of gravy or dry. Such a great ambience to spend quality time with welcoming gesture of the staffs. I'll visit this place everytime I get a chance.

You have to digitally order here which I found interesting 😁 Food is really good .. And you'll get a tibetan vibe.. But their space is small.. so if people will be waiting outside then you'll be asked to complete your lunch or dinner fast and to leave quickly.. I didn't like that.. And one more thing that they added service charge in my bill.. but after asking to remove it, they removed that and gave me a new bill..

Blue Poppy Thakali in Kolkata offers a unique culinary experience, bringing the flavors of the Himalayas to the city. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was a delightful journey of vibrant aromas, authentic recipes, and warm hospitality. As I entered Blue Poppy Thakali, I was immediately captivated by the cozy and rustic ambiance, reminiscent of a traditional Nepalese eatery. The restaurant's attention to detail in creating an inviting atmosphere added to the overall charm of the dining experience. The menu at Blue Poppy Thakali showcases the best of Thakali cuisine, known for its bold flavors and hearty dishes. From momos and thukpas to traditional curries and grilled meats, the options are plentiful. Note: The review is based on my personal experience and reflects my honest opinion.

Small restaurant that will seat about 50, half on cushions on low tables for four. Momos are the specialty, and the Vegetable Steamed Momos were good. The Stir Fried Morning Glory had a nice taste to it, as did the rest of the food. One scans the QR code and places the order for the food right off the app. The restaurant is popular with young people.

As per my experience the quality of Chinese cuisine is exquisite, as per the starters chiken dipped in butter sauce was too good to have along with crispy babycorn, as per the main course the quantity of rice is enough for one, and for every Main Course- non veg the amount of chiken is enough for two. We haven't took any refreshing. Will recommend to have the steamed momos and pork delicacies. The taste of the food and the ambience is really soothing.
