The ambience of this restaurant is so good. Staff's behaviour is good. And now let's talk about the main thing, food. We ordered Vetki fry as a starter, as it was so delicious. The fish was so juicy, and perfectly cooked. And then we ordered rice, dal, chicken and mutton(don't have pictures). Dal was sweet, which I didn't prefer normally. Chicken and mutton dish were tasty. So overall it was a good experience and anyone who want to try authentic Bengali cuisine can go for it.

The fishes were NOT FRESH. I ordered the Celebration thali, there were 3 types of fish- illish, pabda, chingri. The fishes were tasteless. The ambience was good, service was okay. The only thing I liked was the Fish Fry.

Excellent experience. Must try Vetki fry Ilish Daab Nolen gurer sondesh The most visible feature is the tenderness and big size of the fish fillet. The mineral water is charged at the mrp price which is one of the most attractive features as well.

The moment you sit down, they will force you to have "thali", so much so that they won't even show you the menu card. Now lets say you don't want to have all the items in the thali, lets say you want "bhetki paturi", which is not part of any of their thalis, then its your problem, because all they want to do is sell you a thali. We visited today at Nabami, and were terribly disappointed by their obnoxious and rude behavior. They lack basic courtesy to run an eatery. After making it clear that we won't be eating a thali, they reluctantly decided to show the other menu card (green one) to us. The food was just ok, nothing special. The mutton was not well cooked. Will definitely not be visiting again because of their behavior.

Never go here. They don't clean the tables. The manager is hella insane and yells at everyone. They refuse to give you a timeline yet won't say they are full. They are literally the worst and the food is just food+sugar.

We visited the restaurant with lot of expectations from Bangalore but our experience was horrible. We didn’t like the following: Ambiance is very poor and negative Food is far away from being good Restaurant staff was completely confused with the menus and they were not having any idea what to serve according to the combination Price is very high compared to quality and quantity The portion size is small Overall we felt this is not all value for money and not to be called as Benagalee cuisine restaurant. It’s all about promotion gimmick

One of the affordable Bengali resturants in kolkata based on the theme of famous Bangla movie Saptapadi. We ordered kolkata vetki fry, sada vat , vetki paturi , sajnekhali chingri , chital peti and mangsher sipahi among which the best dish was the vetky fry according to us. They capture picture of every customer with prior permission and provide a print out of that photograph as a gift. Staff behaviour is very good , specially the manager, he is very attentive and well spoken. Before leaving you can pick up paan from the plate which has kept near the exit. Overall very good experience.

The restaurant is Uttam-Suchitra themed, however the seating space area isn't huge. It is not a large-spaced restaurant but have decent Bengali cuisine. I took my parents there during Durga Puja to celebrate Dashami. We chose their Puja special ilish thali which was priced at 1349/-. Due to the rush, the service was a bit delayed but the waiters were well-behaved. So is the manager Sanjib. The thali consisted of several items, but to be fair, I would rate them 3/5 in terms of taste. When you go out for an authentic Bengali cuisine in Kolkata, your expectations of the standard are usually on the higher notch.

Decor is nice, location good, very customer centric - they constantly came to make sure everything is good. Where they fall short, unfortunately is food. Good thing is they gave good quality meat and fishes, but the taste is just not there. We ate 3 types of fries, pulao, chingri, mutton, bhetki paturi, daal, ilish, papad, chutney and sarbat. Unfortunately the only thing standing out is the sarbat, nothing else I would like to have again. I am very surprised and disappointed.

Visited Saptapadi Restaurant yesterday. First, to start of with the ambience, which any Bengali film lover would find unique, the restaurant seems like a scene from any Uttam-Suchitra film. The restaurant is decorated with cutouts and portraits of the evergreen Bengali onscreen couple. The restaurant also has an iconic photo booth with a still from the film Saptapadi itself along with a scooter model as it was in the film. In the background, iconic songs from their films are played, which makes the ambience even more worth remembering. Now for the food, We ordered Lichu lonka sorbot, Aam sorbot for the drinks, Fish fry and Much much e macher jhuri for the starters and Luchi, Cholar daal, Basonti Pulao, Chital Macher Muithya, Saptapadi Mangsho, Daab Chingri, Vetki Paturi for the main course. Each and every dish was succulent and reflected the richness of Bengal delicacies. For the dessert, we took Patisapta Ice cream which was mouthwatering as well. Apart from the exquisite taste, this eatery is also budget friendly. Our total bill amounted to near 2500/-. Indeed, a great joint for every 'khaddo-roshik' Bengali. The only negative aspect : Lack of adequate space. The tables are small and are cramped up together, which I think shouldn't be the case in this pandemic situation. The restaurant should try to focus on expanding the space and should emphasize on social distancing.

Went for a traditional bengali lunch. Had a quite a few dishes. Somehow the beguni and fish fry was winner. Other dish including dab chingri was way way way below average. The worst choice was the 3500Rs worth Illish which was horrible and too expensive. Somehow the restaurant staff sold this to us and we were fooled by him. Please do not order this.

I am visiting this restaurant from 2017 may be. It serves bengali food. And they are lovely. We have a frixed menu there. Like fish fry, luchi, cholar daal, vetki paturi, basanti polau, 1chicken and 1mutton dishes. We always had one veg public with us. He sometimes took ghee vat, dhoka r dalna etc. But the food is good. Try to avoid peak season or festival time like puja etc. Then the quality degrades. Otherwise its good.

I am sad to say that our lunch was incredibly disappointing at Saptapadi . Let's share some constructive criticism. Some food were quite good while others were just equally bad. Sukto, lichi Lanka sarbat, nalen gurer ice cream ( thanks for recommending) were good, but Chital fish & dhokar dalna were really bad. ( fish was over fried/dry/no taste, dhoka cubes were dry too). Very limited option in vegetable & variety of fishes. Ambience is ok & service was good. Overall not recommended considering soo many similar option in town with better food and choice .

Excellent Restaurant. Although not too big but still it has quite Nostalgic Bengali vibe with the theme being homage to the Bengal's two cinema icons. Staffs are very courteous and they even suggest you what menu item you should/may try. Food is also quite good. We tried Aampora Sarbat, Basanti Pulao, Ilish, Daab chingri, Chicken, Mutton. All were tasty and you don't have to wait long for the food to be served. If you are around Gariahat and looking for a authentic Bengali restaurant, this is a good place to try. The other restaurants that are near by are not up to the mark and that's why this stands apart. One pleasant surprise is that after dinner they would give you one group photo which is a nice touch

  • 5/5 Sayantan D. 1 year ago on Google
As a Bengali (West Bengal(Ghoti)) I have enjoyed each and every item. I have taken special thali, which covers this restaurant's signature dishes. The first thing I noticed was that the taste of every item is different according to the dish. Second the quality of chicken and mutton both are good. But I would like to ask you to handle prawns carefully (in some of them the stick is visible). If someone loves to eat the quality and quantity of food are good and adequate. One last request to Saptapadi to increase the Rasgulla's and Payesh's bowl size. At the last I want to say, I am eager to taste the dishes again.

It's located at Purna Das Road near triangular Park. The location is good. The restaurant is at 1st floor of an apartment. The space is not so big with comparison of It's demand. Try to reach there by 1pm to get a table. The ambience is really good and they made some customised arrangement for our anniversary with taking some additional charge. There are different types of thali, though the quantity is not that great with respect to price. The hilsa is not so tasty, though thinking of off season of hilsa, it can be ignored. Mutton is good. Their muri fish tikka is an unique items which you can try. If you compare with 16 ana bangaliyana and similar kind of restaurant, it's in that bracket. But not a comparison with 6 ballygunge type restaurant. Overall for it's ambience, you should visit once here. And definitely a big thumps up for the stuffs behaviour.

Very good service. The food was awesomely tasty. The caterers were very professional. They were maintaining all the hygiene measures and served hot food. My marriage was on 15th of January and the reception was on 17th January and we had booked Saptapadi for both the occasions. For starters, murmuri fish and lanka posto chicken was awesome. Coming to main course, the lanka mutton was so light and yet tasty. The mutton was so soft. I have never eaten such soft mutton pieces in any marriages throughout my entire life. The dab chingri was my favourite. The pieces very large enough and the gravy was like OMG😍😍😍 The Padma Jhal was like giving me a heavenly feeling on this earth. I had just one issue with Saptapadi, they need to work on their time management. Otherwise, you can trust them with eyes closed. Thanks for making my guests happy and satisfied.
