One of the oldest Bar located in Bhowanipore Jadubabur Bazar. Just take a bus from exide or metro and get down at Jadubabur Bazar. The bar has two separate section: AC and Non-AC. AC Bar have classic decor with dim lights, perfect ambience for all. A huge seating area with 2, 4, 6, 8 person's tables and Big TV with live Cricket/Football match going on. There is also a wall full of classic hand drawn posters and quotes. Non-AC bar is even bigger in size than AC. Only advantage is, you can smoke cigarettes while being seated, which you can't in AC. Three things will steal your heart if you visit: the quality of the food, the behavior of the staffs and the pocket friendly menu. I can say for sure, if you visit once, doesn't matter if solo or with someone, you will be visiting again. Unlike any other bar, this place have fans, and many of them are very old fans. Do visit must. Remember, it's tricky and also fun to find the entrance.

Tripty's is one of the oldest and affordable bars in Kolkata. Located at Jadubabu Bazar in Bhawanipore area, this age old building has two way entrances with seating areas of AC & Non AC separately. If you are a small group or looking for a pocket friendly refreshment, you can definitely opt for Tripty's as pocket pinch. Ambiance is okayish with typically retro Calcuttan dining halls with long fans and live bar counter. You can also get a balcony view with large windows. Coming to the beverages, they serve you a good amount of alcohol variety at moderate prices. Food menu has limited options though. Prices are affordable.

One of the oldest in the area. This Bar and restaurant is one of its kind and the best if compared to the environment, food , service, price and the locality. A highly recommended one if you are in Bhowanipore area. Please visit the ~100year old bar and restaurant.

It's a very rundown place.Drinks are cheap.Food is substandard .Toilets shockers. But inspite of these drawbacks it has a loyal clientele. Maybe there is a fascination of Calcuttans being fond of old institutions.Been once and have not gone back again.

*Follow kolkata.foodie.dibyajit at Instagram and Zomato for drooling pics and unbiased reviews* This place belongs to the category of an old school bar. The bar is almost 60 years old, the pricing is cheap. I went to this place after almost 8 years and found that they have expanded, they have a ac and non ac section now. My picks from this place will be few beers along with must haves like egg pakora(no one can prepare this like they do), alu kabli, etc.

Its a heritage place. The stuffs are good. Its a place where bengali legends such as uttamkumar, chinmoy, bikash roy used to sit, drink and spend quality time with friends. Now it has lost all its shining, and open to all. One portion is redecorated, with fittings and ac. But the entrance will get absolutely zero. Not recommended for non alchoholic partners. Womens are allowed in AC only. Absolutely recommended for better teste, lesser price. One with a limited budget will eat and drink more in Tripty, rather than any other bars around in Bhawanipur area.

A bar that represents old Kolkata-nothing fancy but a hell lot of nostalgia. Cherry cheese pineapple and masala peanuts are a must try.

Well, arguably the cheapest and arguably the oldest running bar of the city. Food is okay ish but you gotta try the cheese pineapple thing. Other descent item is fish finger. You can smoke at your own table. One star less because the chairs could have been lil better than just plastic chairs and one star because women are not allowed in the main place. And the light is pretty dull.

Old/heritage bar in a building much more older.. But worth a visit with friends or even single. We sat in the Non ac section and found it still very good. Ambience, service, cleanliness is upto the mark. Prices are quite reasonable compared to any bar. So worth your time.

Chaltahay cheap bar...60ml BP is RS190... there are AC and non AC sitting arrangements. Entrance to bar is not so prominent and not so clean. This chese pinaple cherry dish good. Chana with adrak is complementary. There are several dishes. Cost is not so high. The ambiance is below average.

A classic dive bar, running at the same place since the 1930s. Very affordable and quick service. If you tip wisely, service becomes much better next time. Mostly crowd of office returns and some college folks. There's an all-male section and one air-conditioned section where women are also welcome. The location is very convenient too. Recommended for atmospheric bar experience at low cost!

Apart from the shady entrance, the AC section of the bar is good. The drinks are cheaper than most of the places in the city. The attending waiters are well behaved as well. The food is very average.

This is a heritage bar in kolkata. While it looks shady and very unattractive from outside, it is perfectly fine inside. There are both Ac and Non Ac sections. Women are only allowed in the Ac section. The service is good, tip them well and you'll be served even better next time. Food is superb and at a very economical cost like 100-200. Drinks start at a very low price. Many beers are available. Don't expect very highly of the ambience it is so so. But the place is perfect for a few drinks and chatting. I visit this place often and like it very much.

Very cheap place to visit and the ambience is too good. They have two section AC & NON-AC. In their AC section girls are allowed. If planning to booze with your group of friends then this place is too good to visit at bhawanipur area. In their NON-AC section amount per peg is little low compared to the AC section however only males are allowed here.. I personally prefer Old Monk,so the price for 30ml/Rs50 & 60ml/Rs100.

Though the price has been increased from 1st Dec, I would still say it's the cheapest in south kolkata (second in the list while first being Broadway). This Bar is of a particular genre. There is no name to this genre but this style of bars and restaurants date back to early 20th century eating and drinking under the British rule. The place hasn't changed significantly ever since. Its a pocket friendly Anglo-Indian bar where they serve good food as well. This is more like a men's bar. I know that I shouldn't generalise. I am sure ladies can find it comfortable as well. The location is great as well. If it's your first time to bar you might find the entry to the bar a bit tricky even though you can see the bar from the street. You can ask any of shop owners downstairs about the entry and they will guide you.

An old fashioned bar with a heritage. If you are going for first time, it could a a little tricky to find the entrance. Bar is situated on first floor - no elevator. Probably there is no appropriate fire escape also. They both have AC & non-AC area. Food/side dish/chat is okey - not great. AC area is under CCTV. As in post covid time they are sanitizing each customer's hand twice and chair once(before you use it). The light is ambient type. Not high pitched. One portion of an wall has graffiti painting based on old Bengali movies. Person with nostalgia will love them. A

A no-frills, no nonsense bar for people to get together and have a drink. This is your basic bar where you get the regular types of liquor with cold drinks, finger food, and snacks. The entrance is through a narrow staircase between shops and looks like an entrance to a 'bhoot bangla'. The place is relatively clean and the servers are prompt. They have 2 areas for seating Ac and non Ac with the Ac section being a little more expensive. Do not expect any high end variety cocktails or drinks here.

This place is really pocket friendly and just a 3-4 min walk from nearest metro station. We had ordered fish finger, chicken pakoda and chilli chicken with beers. The fingers tasted good compared to the price and spice. The quality of the fish was also good. The the size of the pakodas were really good but the taste was a bit disappointing. Too bland to be precise and a bit chewy. And once it gets cold... And the chilli chicken was also very less spicy. Tbh I prefer a side dish with beer or alcohol that will be a bit spicy or a bit salty. There were spices but on the outer covering. Inside was just bland and chewy. Lastly the ambience. It is an old school bar with no music. Established in 1935. So you can guess the structure of the room. And the rush during rush hours. And the murmur starts to feel soothing after a couple of drinks. It's a perfect place to enjoy your FriYaaY after work or if you are looking for a pocket friendly place to drink with your friends.

A legendary and pocket friendly outlet. It has a different vibe which actually define the 'Kolkata' feelings.. I spend many evenings in AC and Non AC sections... All are good memories.. Staffs are very good. And food is like just another Bar's food. But common no one is coming here to have a find dine.. Women are generally not allowed in the Non ac section.
