Very beautiful serene temple which has a extraordinary calming effect. A must visit. The river just behind the temple looks wonderful and clear. P.S.- Keep you mobile phones in your bag or else you will be asked to get rid of it before entering the temple (during the security check).

Wonderful arrangement for puja and meditation. There are counters outside to deposit your shoes and bags. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the main premises and these too have to be deposited. Car parking facility available. Neat and clean temple compound.

A systemically operated Hindu temple environment. If you are driving in - park in the parking lot and follow the crowds through a security check. If you double back through a gate on the left, then back towards the parking lot (but now on the other side of the fence), then you get some of the best views of the entire complex. That done - make your way into the main complex, check in your shoes at one counter and all devices - cameras, phones, battery packs, etc - in another. Go through another security check and you are in. Pick a line of your choosing - the lines with side views of the altar run faster, the one with the front view runs slower. After you are done with the main complex and are reunited with your cameras, phones, and shoes, make your way to the ghats and get views from the other side of the complex.

It's crowded during the weekends, early morning, weekday will be better for visiting. Truly magnificent. Swami Ramakrishna spent 16 years in one of the building. The miracle of this temple is also mentioned in Autobiography of the yogi.

Truly a pious place for devotees, well-governed and systematically organized by the staff. A review will not rationalize this divine place, a real-time visit to this shrine will make difference in who has faith in the supreme God. You can visit the shrine by water, road and metro rail, however, a boat ride is always the best choice for all tourists, and the extravagant view of the Ganges will charm everyone. God Bless !!!

One of the famous temple of revered Hindu goddess Kali, located on the banks of Ganges near Kolkata. This temple is well connected by Metro ( Blue Line) and by road transport. Dakshineswar is the last stop for metro and a sky walk connects the station to the main gate of the temple. Cars and Autorickshaws are allowed go inside to drop devotees and there's a huge parking lot available and toilets for men and women. Temple is open from early morning until 12 Noon and reopens from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The shops from where you can buy offerings for the goddess also follows the temple timings. Due to COVID-19, you will be screened for your temperature. There are counters to keep your footwear and counters for keeping mobiles, bags of any kind aren't allowed inside and would be required to deposited at the counter. Both counters charge INR 3.00 per pair of footwear and additional INR 3:00 for each mobile/ bag. Irrespective of the time the temple is always crowded and one will have to wait in a queue for 'darshan'. As soon as you enter, you will see queues to your left and right side of the temple. Stand in the queue to left side ans you will get darshan of the goddess from front. If you take the queue on right side of the temple, you will get side ways darshan of the goddess. In front of the temple there's a mantap for people to sit, one can stand here and get a clear darshan of the goddess. Once you exit from the main gate, the road on your right running parallel to temple compound will take one to WBTC ferry service to Belur Math. The ticket costs INR 11.00. PLEASE NOTE THAT BELUR MATH CLOSES AT 11:00 AM and reopens at 3:00 pm

The Dakshineswar Kali Temple was founded around the middle of the 19th century by Rani Rashmoni.[5] Rani Rashmoni was a Mahishya by caste[6] and was well known for her philanthropic activities. In the year 1847, Rashmoni prepared to go upon a long pilgrimage to the sacred Hindu city of Kashi to express her devotions to the Divine Mother. Rani was to travel in twenty-four boats, carrying relatives, servants, and supplies.[4] According to traditional accounts, the night before the pilgrimage began, Rashmoni had a vision of the Divine Mother in the form of the goddess Kali in a dream and reportedly said,[7] There is no need to go to Banaras. Install my statue in a beautiful temple on the banks of the Ganges river and arrange for my worship there. Then I shall manifest myself in the image and accept worship at that place. Profoundly affected by the dream, Rani immediately looked for and purchased a 30,000-acre plot in the village of Dakhineswar. The large temple complex was built between 1847 and 1855. The 20-acre (81,000 m2) plot was bought from an Englishman, Jake Hastie, and was then popularly known as Saheban Bagicha.[8] Partly old Muslim burial ground shaped like a tortoise, considered befitting for the worship of Shakti according to Tantra traditions, it took eight years and nine hundred thousand rupees to complete the construction. The idol of Goddess Kali was installed on the Snana Yatra day on 31 May 1855 amid festivities at the temple formally known as Sri Sri Jagadishwari Mahakali, with Ramkumar Chhattopadhyay as the head priest. Soon his younger brother Gadai or Gadadhar (later known as Ramakrishna) moved in and so did his nephew Hriday to assist him.[1][2][3][4][9] On 31 May 1855 more than 1 lakh (one hundred thousand) Brahmins were invited from different parts of the country to grace the auspicious occasion. The next year, Ramkumar Chattopadhyay died, and the position was given to Ramakrishna along with his wife Sarada Devi, who stayed in the south side of the Nahabat (music room) in a small room on the ground floor, which is now a shrine dedicated to her.[citation needed] Ramakrishna was responsible for bringing much in the way of both fame and pilgrims to the temple.[10] Rani Rashmoni lived for only five years and nine months after the inauguration of the temple. She fell seriously ill in 1861. Realizing that her death was near, she decided to hand over the property she had purchased in Dinajpur (now in Bangladesh) as a legacy for the maintenance of the temple to the temple trust. She accomplished her task on 18 February 1861 and died on the next day.[2] After her death, her sons-in-law took to celebrating Durga Puja in their respective premises.

The place is very much cleaner than other locations in Kolkata. Once you reached here you feel calm and serene. The place is very much quite. Those reaching there should use Skywalk from the Ticket counter entrance which will directly land you in the Temple. There many shops on the Skywalk, one can find toys, imitation or artificial jewellery, Godess Kali ma related Pictures, momentos. There are many points you can take pictures. Also Dakshineswar metro station is very beautiful. It is very well maintained temple. Also devotees are managed very well. All the Covid protocol had been followed. You need to wear mask in the premises. Cameras and Mobiles are not allowed, you need to submit at the corner. They are charging Rs 3 per gadget. Which I feel they should not charge. If you are comming to Kolkata then you must visit to this Temple. The atmosphere is very nice and soothing. Also there is no force for puja from Pandas like others temple. That is one more reasons to visit this place.

First would like to start from parking vehicles, there is a very well maintained and reserved place for parking. Police Personnel is appointed for security purpose at the entrance of the temple, no mobiles and shoes are allowed inside the temple. I would suggest you to keep your shoes and mobile phones in your car, to avoid the long queue at the deposit counter. Once you enter the temple, obviously you will be surrounded by people, pigeons as well as spiritual positive energy! It's very beautiful and serene!! There are many small temples around the main Kali Temple. Usually you need to wait in a long queue to get inside the temple and get a glance of the idol of Kali Ma, give your offerings and take blessings. The whole place is very well maintained! After exiting the temple, you will find many small hotels. I suggest you to try Dal Kachori from the hotels!! You are gonna be in love with kachoris!!! Even though you might not be a believer or a person who prays or worships on a daily basis, but for peace, spirituality and blessings, do visit Dakshineswar Temple once in a while! You will love being there!

It's purely hindu temple of maa kali. Surroundings are very beautiful. For giving worship you buy 'dala'(contains-sweets,flowers,another which you want to add )from shop in temple area, price may be different according to the things.(51,101 201,501 etc) You must keep your shoes outside of the temple entrance door (you keep it the shop where you can buy the things otherwise a particular section made for this) Also you can't bring mobile phone inside the temple. From 12.30 to 3.30 temple remain closed due to 'bhog nibedon'. Brings your family and children they must enjoy the place. You can spend some time in the Ganga ghat near its. For 4 wheelers and two wheelers, there is a parking lot ,so nothing to worry. And for normal people you walk thorough Skywalk and get to the Railway station or metro station or bus stand. Visit the place ,it will makes you peaceful.

Temple premises is well maintained and the environment is very positive. However, locality outside the temple premises needs improvement. Restaurants and guest house around the temple are unhygienic and in a really bad state. Considering one of the most important and spiritual destinations in India this place should offer good accommodation and food options to people traveling from all over India.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is an awe-inspiring sanctuary that embodies spirituality and architectural brilliance. Nestled along the Hooghly River in Kolkata, this sacred place captivates with its serene ambiance and devotion-steeped atmosphere. The temple's traditional Bengali architecture, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant colors, is a testament to cultural richness. The main shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali exudes a powerful aura, drawing worshippers and visitors alike into a realm of divine energy. The sprawling temple complex is not only a religious haven but also a haven for introspection. The peaceful courtyards and lush gardens create a tranquil setting for contemplation, offering a welcome escape from the bustling city life. One cannot ignore the significance of the Dakshineswar Ghat, where the river meets the temple premises. The panoramic view of the river adds a surreal touch to the entire experience, especially during sunset. While visiting, don't miss the chance to explore the twelve shrines dedicated to various forms of the Divine Mother, each with its unique charm. The temple's cultural and historical importance is palpable, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists Please ensure phones are not allowed in temples. So you have to keep them outside in the locker.

Nestled along the banks of the Hooghly River, the temple's serene ambiance and intricate architecture create a captivating atmosphere.Dedicated to Goddess Kali, the temple is a testament to Bengal's rich religious heritage. The main sanctum houses a powerful idol of the fierce deity, surrounded by an aura of devotion. Pilgrims find solace in the rhythmic chants and the fragrance of incense that permeates the air.The temple complex extends beyond the main shrine, featuring smaller temples, serene courtyards, and a bathing ghat overlooking the river. Try to visit in the early hours to avoid rush. Can easily reach it through the metro.

Would have surely given five stars, had some unwanted factors not curtailed my object of achieving tranquility. For, that's the only object with which ardent devotees of the Mother would visit the temples. The biggest of those 'factors' is the rashness of the chief priests and security staffs who make it to curtailing one's time of having darshan of the image of the Mother to hardly half minute or so. That moment is utterly disgusting.

Dakshineshwar Kali temple stands on the banks of river Hooghly spread on an area of several acres. The temple can be approached from Sealdah by local trains plying between Sealdah and Dankuni. From Howrah one can reach Bali Station and take a train, bus or any of the several modes of Transports available. There are busses from all parts of Kolkata to Dakshineshwar. From the Station or Bus Stand the Temple which is roughly 250 meters, can be approached by a newly constructed Skywalk. Apart from a temple dedicated to Ma Kali, there is a Radha Krishna Temple and Twelve Temples each having a Shivling, perhaps representing Dwadash Jyotirling. Visitors may also see the bedroom used by Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa Dev, where he used to hold meetings with his disciples. There is the Panchavati Van where Sri Ramakrishna often used to meditate. To offer Puja at the temple one can take a bath in the ghat of the Holy Ganges and collect Sweets. flowers and incence sticks which comes in a bamboo strip basket called 'Dala' from the number of shops located in the Skywalk and a Dala Arcade. After offering Puja one naturally feels hungry, as many people fast before offering Puja. There are a number of shops with their menu of Puri/Kachuri with a generous amount of Potato curry, Rasogolla, Pantua and sandesh are among the assortment of Sweets. It is an ideal place for family outing with an optimum blend of devotion and leasure.

Located on the banks of the Hooghly River, the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple is one of the most popular places of worship not only in Kolkata but all across eastern India. The temple was founded by Rani Rashmoni in 1855, a philanthropist and an ardent devotee of goddess Kali. The presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an aspect of goddess Kali. The 19th century mystic sage and reformer Ramakrishna Paramhansa and his wife Sarada Devi were associated with this temple for a major part of their lives. A divine place The temple is built in the traditional ‘nava-ratna’ or the nine spires style following the Bengal School of Architecture. The three-storeyed south facing temple has nine-spires in the upper two storeys. It stands on a high platform with a flight of stairs. The idol of Bhavatarini standing on Lord Shiva is securely housed inside the garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum). Both the idols are placed on a thousand petal-lotus flower made of pure silver. Opposite the main temple, a row of 12 identical Shiva (mini) temples stand facing east. These are built in the ‘Aat Chala’ style of Bengal Architecture. A Vishnu temple is located on the extreme north-east of the main complex and houses the idols of Radha and Krishna. A small temple dedicated to Rani Rashmoni was added later and is located near the entrance. One of the top religious places in Kolkata, Dakshineshwar Kali Temple attracts thousands of devotees every day. Pay homage, watch the aarti, take a dip in the river or simply watch the sunset sitting at the ghats of Hooghly—a visit to the iconic temple is a must if you are in Kolkata. If there’s a temple that has always been revered as one of the holiest temples in Kolkata by all the local residents, it is the Dakshnineswar Kali Temple. The temple has been there in the city for ages and has always been one of the most important places of worship for the Bengali population at large. Apart from the local population of Kolkata and devotees from other neighbouring towns of West Bengal, the Dakshineswar Kali Temple also sees the presence of tourists who visit this place in great numbers, both for offering their prayers and also for exploring an age old temple which has no less than a heritage status in the city now. As far as the Dakshineswar Kali Temple timings are concerned, the temple is open from 6 am in the morning to 9 pm in the night. Deep rooted in history The Dakshineswar Kali Temple is not just any other temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Well, the reference is not just to the fact that it is one of the holiest and one of the most revered temples in the city and among the Bengali population. The temple has also been an important part of West Bengal’s history. While the spiritual history of this temple has the mystic sage and reformer Ramakrishna Paramahansa and his wife Sarada Devi attached to it, it is also the socio-political history which is also associated to this temple. Founded by Rani Rashmoni of Bengal in 1855, the Dakshineswar Kali Temple came into being just two years before the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, or which is also popularly known as India’s first war of Independence. It is also the architecture of this temple which has a historical touch to it. After all, the temple has been built in the most traditional form of architecture that most ancient Bengali temples are known to have. The beauty and charm of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple is known to be such that a trip to Kolkata is often said to be incomplete without a visit to this temple.

One of the most holiest place in kolkata. Make sure to visit this place ones, if you are visiting kolkata. It is one the most beautiful place. The gardens are well maintained and the cleanliness is at the next level. The monkeys around, the big size fishes in the ponds over there, are all an added attraction of this place. Make sure make yourself completely aware with the history of the temple and maa kali. Then you will feel the level of power and holiness of this sacred place.

The temple has opened to pilgrims and devotees after lockdown adhering to protocol set for spread of COVID-19. There is sufficient place for parking and one can deposit their personal belongings like camera, phone n other accessories in bags at the designated kiosks. Please note they would charge you for that. Also same is the scene for shoes n chappals. Puja dalas are available at the dala counters located opposite to the temple compound.

Jay maa Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu navaratna temple located at Dakshineswar. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an aspect of Adishakti Kalika .The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a philanthropist and a devotee of Kali. The temple is known for its association with Ramakrishna and Ma Sarada Devi, mystics of 19th Century Bengal. The temple compound, apart from the nine-spired main temple, contains a large courtyard surrounding the temple, with rooms along the boundary walls. There are twelve shrines dedicated to Shiva—Kali's companion—along the riverfront, a temple to Radha-Krishna, a bathing ghat on the river, a shrine dedicated to Rani Rashmoni. 'Nahabat', the chamber in the northwestern corner just beyond the last of the Shiva temples, is where Ramakrishna and Maa Sarada spent a considerable part of their lives.

More like a business centre than a place of worship. Horrible behavior of security personal. They are not allowing shoes anywhere near the temple premises and due to this pandemic situation, more viruses are spreading from bare foot and not wearing shoes, in such overcrowded places with no sign of single social distancing.

The Dakshineswar temple was built by Lokmata Rani Rashmoni for Goddess Bhabataarini and has been immortalised by the divine presence of Sri Sri Thakur Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Sri Sri Ma Sarada. Located beside the majestic Bhagirathi river, this temple also has a Radha Krishna Mandir, ten Shiva temples, a huge Naat mandir and the room where Sri Sri Thakur stayed. It also has a room where Sister Nivedita first met Sri Sri Sarada Ma. The mandir complex is exquisitely maintained, with proper security, sanitation and discipline. The sebaiyats or priests are extremely affable and kind. There is a large water-body beside the temple. Two separate parking lots are present, along with elaborate security structures, and a unique storage locker facility for keeping valuables belonging to devotees, which are to be submitted during the time of visit, and returned after the visit, as also a shoe storage facility. There are separate shop- complexes where one may buy Puja requirements such as sweets and offerings for the deities, as well as collectibles such as photos, calenders, images , shiva-lingas , Puja utensils etc. Outside the mandir, there is a beautiful garden known as Panch vati ( lit. five gardens) which is said to be frequented by Sri Sri Thakur, his disciples, devotees and famous seers such as Trailangya Swami.Devotees after offering Puja can also relish Puri - sabji, dosa , tea and coffee at the restaurants ( now being made into a restaurant and hotel complex) Devotees can use the swanky Skywalk to reach the temple complex , after alighting from the Metro, or bus, or train. The place is well-connected, and one can also visit Addya Peeth, Belur Math and nearby Bhagirathi ghats after the visit.

Infact security team unable provide details properly about any update. moreover there is notice board about any rules or update. They didn't allowed us (so many people) to go near the river. That complete zone suddenly closed.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata holds an undeniable spiritual allure, resonating with devotees and tourists alike. However, the temple experience can be hindered by extended waiting times and the absence of permission to use cameras within the premises. The temple’s grandeur and historical significance are remarkable, but the long lines can test one’s patience. Visitors might encounter extensive queues, especially during peak hours or on significant religious occasions. This waiting period might deter from the otherwise enriching experience. Additionally, the restriction on cameras within the temple premises limits the ability to capture and preserve the visit through personal photographs, a disappointing limitation for many travelers seeking to capture their spiritual journey. Despite these drawbacks, the temple’s architectural beauty, religious significance, and the spiritual atmosphere make it a destination worth visiting for those seeking a connection with Hindu spirituality and a deeper understanding of Kolkata’s cultural heritage.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple or Dakshineswar Kalibari is a Hindu navaratna temple in Dakshineswar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, a form of Parashakti Adya Kali, otherwise known as Adishakti Kalika.[1] The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a Zamindar, philanthropist and a devotee of Kali Maa. The temple is known for its association with Ramakrishna and Ma Sarada Devi, mystics of 19th century Bengal.[2][3] The main temple was inspired by Navaratna style Radhakanta temple in Tollygunge, built by Babu Ramnath Mondal of Bawali Raj family .[4][5][6][7] The temple compound, apart from the nine-spired main temple, contains a large courtyard surrounding the temple, with rooms along the boundary walls. There are twelve shrines dedicated to Shiva, Kali's consort, along the riverfront, a temple to Radha–Krishna, a bathing ghat on the river, a shrine dedicated to Rani Rashmoni. 'Nahabat', the chamber in the northwestern corner just beyond the last of the Shiva temples, is where Ramakrishna and Maa Sarada spent a considerable part of their lives.[2][8] The Dakshineswar Kali Temple was founded around the middle of the 19th century by Rani Rashmoni.[9] Rani Rashmoni was a Mahishya by caste[10] and was well known for her philanthropic activities. In the year 1847, Rashmoni prepared to go upon a long pilgrimage to the sacred Hindu city of Kashi to express her devotions to the Divine Mother. Rani was to travel in twenty-four boats, carrying relatives, servants, and supplies.[8] According to traditional accounts, the night before the pilgrimage began, Rashmoni had a vision of the Divine Mother goddess Kali in a dream and reportedly said,[11] There is no need to go to Banaras. Install my statue in a beautiful temple on the banks of the Ganges river and arrange for my worship there. Then I shall manifest myself in the image and accept worship at that place. Profoundly affected by the dream, Rani immediately looked for and purchased a 30,000-acre plot in the village of Dakshineswar. The large temple complex was built between 1847 and 1855. The 20-acre (81,000 m2) plot was bought from an Englishman, Jake Hastie, and was then popularly known as Saheban Bagicha.[12] Partly old Muslim burial ground shaped like a tortoise, considered befitting for the worship of Shakti according to Tantra traditions, it took eight years and nine hundred thousand rupees to complete the construction. The idol of Goddess Kali was installed on the Snana Yatra day on 31 May 1855 amid festivities at the temple formerly known as Sri Sri Jagadishwari Kali, with Ramkumar Chhattopadhyay as the head priest. Soon his younger brother Gadai or Gadadhar (later known as Ramakrishna) moved in and so did his nephew Hriday to assist him.[1][2][3][8][13] On 31 May 1855 more than 1 lakh (one hundred thousand) Brahmins were invited from different parts of the country to grace the auspicious occasion. The next year, Ramkumar Chattopadhyay died, and the position was given to Ramakrishna. His wife, Sarada Devi, stayed in the south side of the Nahabat (music room) in a small room on the ground floor, which is now a shrine dedicated to her.[14] Ramakrishna was responsible for bringing much in the way of both fame and pilgrims to the temple.[15] Rani Rashmoni lived for only five years and nine months after the inauguration of the temple. She fell seriously ill in 1861. Realizing that her death was near, she decided to hand over the property she had purchased in Dinajpur (now in Bangladesh) as a legacy for the maintenance of the temple to the temple trust. She accomplished her task on 18 February 1861 and died on the next day.[2] After her death, her sons-in-law took to celebrating Durga Puja in their respective premises. source- Wikipedia

Dakshineswar Kali temple is very old, powerful, good and one of the worth visiting temples in Kolkata. Every Saturday and especially during durga puja, crowd will be massive here as most of the bengalis will be rushing to kali temples at that time. There are 12 shiva lingas at one side and in center, we can find kali maa and the goddess here is very powerful. Recently, few years ago sky walk has also been arranged to enter into the temple in much easier way than earlier. The only thing i feel not good is it lacks proper maintenance since it is not very neat.

Dakshineswar is a wondrous temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, situated on the banks of the holy river Ganga, in the northern part of Kolkata. Whenever I visit this place, I could feel a sense of calm, bliss and harmony. The newly built Dakshineswar Skywalk has now become the entry point, which takes you directly to the temple's complex, thereby sparing you from the heavy traffic & it's clamorous honking. However, keep your ears insulated from the non-stop calling of the shopkeepers, selling the puja materials, from the stalls, which are lined one after the other inside the Skywalk. To enter the main temple, you are supposed to follow a long queue of devotees, then deposit your belongings, shoes etc, at the deposit counter, then go through the security checks, following which you are allowed to enter. There are plenty of shops near the outer complex of the main temple, which sell various idols, pictures, agarbattis etc. A small library is also available, just adjacent to the room dedicated in the memory of the founder, Rani Rashmoni. Here, you will also come across several langurs (hanuman), who will be happy with whatever little food you offer them. Please try to feed them something, they are really sweet & innocent. Being one of the most revered religious destinations in India, I would recommend you to definitely visit here, atleast once

Dakshineswar temple is nice but this time the experience was totally different from my previous visits. Temple management is not allowing flowers, candles and agarbattis inside. And most importantly please don't give any money to pujaris. They will simply put it inside their pockets. If you wish to donate money please put it inside the drop box. I would suggest just go inside the temple don't carry sweets also because the pujaris will not even touch to Ma kali just go visit the temple and take the positive energy with you. Temple is nice but outside is not that clean. In fact skywalk is also not that clean.

Very neat and clean Temple. About 16-20 KM away from Howrah and sealdah railway station. Better to reach there by train rather than opting public bus as option. (Time consuming) . Whenever you go there check about local trains. (I opted train from sealdah railway station at 6:35 AM) . Reached there at 7 AM. Then via Sky bridge you can reach at the gate of temple in approx 8-10 min. If you have luggage, there is the facility of locker room over there. 20 rupees for carry bags and 3 ₹ for mobile phone was charged by me. Shoes was also to submit ( 3₹ ) . However if you don't want to submit your belonging here you can place them in shop from where you are buying prasad. ( But at your own risk). You will find peace all around . No crowd. There is Hooghly river, you can take bath there. Scenes are good as shown in photos. Statue of Vivekanand ji is there, a nice place to click photos there. When I was there the painting of temple was in progress so I didn't click picture of 12 shiv temple over there. Apart from these, there is a Lord krishna temple as well. What I loved most here is peace and cleanliness. You will feel totally divine here. While returning I went to "Bally ghat" Railway station (20₹) then opted local train to howrah (₹5) .

Now the temple is connected with metro so it's really easy to reach there. The place is more clean it's a pleasure to walk through the sky walk. Need some clean food stalls. The charges for keeping shoes bags and mobiles to be reduced.

This temple has always been speical and close to my heart. However recently I visited this temple after couple of years, and the way the government has taken initiatives to maintain and build new infrastructure around the temple making life easier for devotees was splendid to experience. Due to corona devotees are not allowed to take flower inside the temple. Mobile and camera to be kept outside the temple.

If you are going to Kolkata then you must visit Maa and lord Shiva without fail. Amazing temple and very good crowd management as compared to kalighat temple , especially girls and women are 100% safe in this premises. After visit one can go to Belur math via boat which is a lifetime experience by spending only Rs 11/- . Then if food becomes an issue then one can walk 1000 mts and have sumptuous meals at a bare minimum cost of <$1. Adyapeeth matha(ashram) it is. Make sure you have double vaccine proof and don't carry digicams

  • 4/5 Mou P. 2 years ago on Google
Things used to be different pre Covid. Now it's totally different. After the newly constructed skywalk things have changed a lot in that area. Once you get down you can use the skywalk to reach the temple. If u have car then definitely need to go by road and the parking area is big enough and hassle free. So steps and escalator both are available via skywalk. As mobile phones are not allowed inside the temple premises so there's a separate counter to keep your valuables. They have separate counter for keeping shoes as well. There is also a separate area where they sell the necessary things for offering to the Goddess. But post covid no flowers are allowed inside. No garland allowed as well even candles and incense stick. For the Puja you need to stand in a queue and without any drama it happens very peacefully and in a systematic manner. Once you are done you can take a walk behind the temple premises and sit for a while gazing at river Ganga and the Bally Bridge. Before they allowed to roam around in the park inside the campus but now everything is closed. You won't find any small scale sellers or food vendors inside the campus. 2 or 3 restaurants are there where u can eat and drink. Overall a good experience post covid. No over crowd. Nicely maintained. No traffic jam in that area. Metro, Bus, Train, Auto, Toto etc many modes are available to reach this holy place of Maa Kali. Before coming do check the timings as well.

One of the most famous Kali temple in west bengal. The only thing that would be recommended would be to plan your visiting hours as early as possible since as the day progress the number of pilgrims and size of queues will get humongous. They now dedicated bag safe keeping provided by the temple administration. Phones are no longer permitted inside temple premises. The parking facility is really good as well.

  • 5/5 Naveen T. 1 year ago on Google
Can reach this temple through Ferry(boat), Metro, Bus, Local train, etc. Camera/Mobile/electronic gadgets are not allowed inside temple area (they charge ₹3 per Footwear deposit, ₹3 per mobile, ₹10 per bag) but you can take videos and photos from outside. Goddess Kali is worshipped at this place. You can worship lord Shiva too. This place is quite big but in weekends/holidays the crowd increases and no proper queue is maintained by management.

A very peaceful religious place. You can just sit here beside the bank of river Ganges, and feel relieved. And after that the most wondering thing is the temple’s structure. Whenever you try to capture the temple it looks like a painting! The scenic view is also very wonderful.A good place to bring our family for a relegious tour. This place is very systematic and very clean. Some great views of THE GANGES are on there. Overall this place is awsome.

Visited Dakshineshwar temple after almost 3 decades. It's still as beautiful as it was then. Better organized, neat and clean. The shops have been given better covered location. Much greener and more statues. Counters for depositing shoes and mobile phones. Accessible by metro, train and road. A dedicated car Parking area. Was a bit disappointed to see too many barricades and a very small 'ghat' . The temples had restricted entry and the priests sitting inside collecting money.

The Dakshineswar Kali Temple, located in Kolkata, India, is an architectural marvel and a spiritual haven for devotees of the Hindu goddess Kali. I recently had the opportunity to visit this iconic temple, and I must say that the experience left me awe-inspired and deeply moved. One cannot help but be captivated by the temple's magnificent structure. The main temple complex, built in the traditional Bengali style, is a sight to behold. Its towering spires, intricate carvings, and vibrant colors create a visually stunning ambiance. The temple is situated on the banks of the Hooghly River, adding to its serene and picturesque setting. As I stepped inside, I was greeted by an atmosphere of profound spirituality. Devotees from all walks of life were engaged in prayer, offering flowers, and seeking blessings. The air was filled with the fragrance of incense, creating an ethereal aura. The temple's inner sanctum houses the revered idol of Goddess Kali, adorned with gold and silver ornaments. The energy within the sanctum is palpable, and one can't help but feel a sense of peace and devotion. The temple complex also features several smaller shrines dedicated to various deities, including Lord Shiva and Radha-Krishna. These shrines provide a tranquil space for meditation and reflection. The serene gardens surrounding the temple offer a soothing retreat from the bustling city, allowing visitors to connect with nature and find solace. The temple administration ensures smooth operations and maintains cleanliness. The staff and volunteers are courteous and helpful, providing guidance to visitors and maintaining the sanctity of the premises. The availability of clean restrooms and drinking water facilities is also commendable. One of the highlights of my visit was the evening Aarti (religious ceremony) at the temple. The rhythmic chants, the sound of bells, and the mesmerizing sight of hundreds of devotees coming together in devotion created a truly enchanting experience. Witnessing this sacred ritual was a deeply spiritual and uplifting moment. In conclusion, the Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a place of profound spiritual significance and architectural splendor. It offers a unique blend of devotion, history, and cultural heritage. A visit to this iconic temple is not just a religious pilgrimage but also a journey that nourishes the soul and connects one with the divine. I highly recommend experiencing the serene beauty and spiritual aura of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple to all those seeking solace and spiritual enlightenment.

It's a beautiful temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, set in serene surroundings. We went just when the gates opened at 3 p.m. But, there's no need to rush. In fact,it's better to go to the temple at around 4 p.m. You'll not have to wait in a queue to enter. It generally gets cleared. They have a very effective method of managing the shoes and bags (mobile phones are not allowed in the temple), although it's manual.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a very beautiful place. First I came with my mother when I was 7 to 10 years old. That time there was no sky walker and building and parking lot. Time to time this place is more developed and organized.

One of the best Kali temple to visit in Kolkata, well maintained and directly metro connected, there are so many parshad shops available but one thing I don’t like, temple priest always ask for dakshna if you don’t give then they will not pass your parshad to Kali mata which is rude. Apart of that everything is good there just visit early morning to skip lines and hot weather

One of its kind. Whenever I visit Kolkata, a visit to dakshineshwar Kali temple is must. The vibes are different. These days mobile phones are not allowed inside but when I last visited 7 years back, they were allowed. Few of the pictures attached shows inside of the temple from 7 years back. Even outside the temple you can enjoy river side views or enjoy a boat ride. There's like this temple in North India as far as I know.

The main temple was inspired by Navaratna style Radhakanta temple in Tollygunge, built by Babu Ramnath Mondal of Bawali Raj family. The temple compound, apart from the nine-spired main temple, contains a large courtyard surrounding the temple, with rooms along the boundary walls. There are twelve shrines dedicated to Shiva, Kali's consort, along the riverfront, a temple to Radha–Krishna, a bathing ghat on the river, a shrine dedicated to Rani Rashmoni. 'Nahabat', the chamber in the northwestern corner just beyond the last of the Shiva temples, is where Ramakrishna and Maa Sarada spent a considerable part of their lives.
