I
wanted
to
host
my
son's
annaprashan
(first
rice
ceremony)
in
a
fun,
relaxed
and
calming
way
on
the
banks
of
the
Ganga.
The
Ganga
and
my
city
of
joy
Kolkata
has
always
been
welcoming
in
the
times
of
chaos
and
endless
timelines.
After
travelling
and
working
across
several
states
and
years
in
India,
I
thought
of
hosting
this
beautiful
ceremony,
not
at
a
hotel
venue
but
right
on
the
banks
of
the
river
that
calmed
and
emanated
beauty
and
peace
right
from
my
school
days
to
my
working
life.
The
dream
happened
with
my
family's
support
and
of
course
the
support
of
Boat
Party
Kolkata
along
with
Samiran
Karmakar
who
helped
in
planning
the
event.
The
company
and
Samiran
tried
their
best
to
accommodate
most
of
the
wishes
of
our
family
and
also
helped
us
navigate
the
possibilities
and
impossibilities.
*What
went
well:*
-
My
requests
were
heard
and
thought
of
with
detail.
-
Changes
were
accommodated
mostly.
-
The
decor
and
the
theme
were
well
thought
of
along
with
me
(Samiran
and
me
both
being
a
graphic
designer,
it
helped
with
the
theme
planning
of
focusing
on
the
Art
of
Bengal
and
paper
origami).
-
The
F&B
(Food
&
Beverage
Team)
at
La
Fiesta
tried
their
best
to
plan
a
sumptuous
buffet
and
even
accommodated
packaging
request
for
the
event.
They
also
designed
a
wonderful
annaprashan
cake
for
the
event
so
a
big
thank
you
&
kudos
to
the
chef
for
designing
it
with
such
care
&
wonderful
details.
-
A
boat
was
on
standby
for
emergencies
and
for
guests
wanting
to
leave
early
(most
did
not
want
to)
after
spending
some
time
on
the
boat
MV
Riviera.
-
The
Valet
Parking
was
a
big
help
especially
for
guests
wanting
to
reach
the
event
on
time
and
report
before
sailing.
-
Sound
Setup
request
was
accommodated
as
well
and
Debdeep
Mukherjee
(Pagol
Naki
Song
fame)
also
loved
the
whole
vibe
and
decor
of
the
place
and
sang
with
joy
as
the
boat
crossed
under
the
Howrah
Bridge.
-
Charges
and
Costing
were
communicated
upfront.
-
Booking
Dates
and
Timelines
were
communicated
aptly
so
that
busy
dates
and
wedding
season
could
be
accommodated
and
planned
ahead.
-
Also
a
timed
event
like
this
was
also
perfect
for
starting
and
ending
on
time.
*What
could
have
been
better:*
-
The
snacks
and
beverages
could
have
started
earlier
as
guests
had
started
boarding
already.
Hence
floating
the
snacks
had
become
important
even
if
the
sailing
started
a
bit
late.
Also
for
guests
leaving
early
if
packet
food
provisions
could
have
been
thought
to
be
distributed,
it
would
have
been
a
wonderful
gesture
as
some
of
them
could
not
stay
till
the
end
of
the
event.
We
should
have
planned
this
part
better
with
F&B
team
+
Samiran.
Something
we
can
take
away
as
future
learnings.
-
Food
tasting
for
such
events
can
be
planned
for
clients
who
are
busy
and
cannot
make
it
for
a
full
boat
event.
A
boxed
packaging
approach
for
some
dishes
can
be
done
and
Swiggy
genie'd
(delivered)
to
clients
while
an
event
is
happening
in
that
area.
I
trusted
the
F&B
team
at
La
Fiesta
without
tasting
the
food
as
first
client,
but
it
could
have
been
planned
better.
*Overall
Thoughts:*
Overall,
the
whole
event
was
very
well
planned.
The
winter
weather
was
supportive.
Samiran
took
a
lot
of
care
in
guiding
first
time
clients
for
hosting
such
an
event
which
is
slightly
different
from
events
hosted
in
hotels
and
banquet
areas.
Bansidhar
Pradhan,
the
F&B
manager
for
La
Fiesta
also
helped
in
controlling
the
quality
and
sanitation
of
food.
Overall,
every
guest
(young
and
old)
had
a
lot
of
fun
and
stored
cherished
memories
of
spending
some
wonderful
quality
time
together,
that
too
not
at
a
stagnant
hotel
venue
but
right
on
a
beautifully
decorated
boat
floating
across
the
Ganga
river
and
the
sacred
ghats.
No
accidents
and
emergencies
happened.
I
thank
the
entire
Boat
Party
team,
Samiran
and
my
father
Dr.
Indrajit
Sardar
for
supporting
a
vision
and
carving
it
into
a
reality.
We
celebrated
in
our
family
after
long
but
we
all
celebrated
and
had
a
lot
of
fun
and
at
the
end
that's
all
that
matters
and
the
pictures
(which
I
will
attach
later,
as
I
get
them)
obviously
can
never
lie.
