A very mediocre experience. Short staffed, we given a room with two single beds instead of a double as we had booked, pool was booked out for two days, breakfasts are scheduled and if you don’t do it early enough (by 12.00 the day before at the latest) you will have to eat at 7.00. AC was not able to be turned off so it was cold all night and the bathroom fan never turned off so there was a constant buzz. Fun stuff. It was totally eh but nothing more. Yes it was busy I will give them that but, for the money, I really expected much more. Personally, I’d recommend using your money someplace else.

Don't stay here. The hotel is overpriced and lures you in with a pool that most of you won't be able to enjoy. The Saturday night we stayed there the pool area was rented to out to some private party. The receptionists told all the hotel guests the pool was "fully booked" the whole day. I can say that we were the only ones in the pool since they accidentally accepted our reservation a couple of days earlier and the private party guests didn't intend on having a pool party at all. Great for us, serious wrong advertising for all the hotel guests who didn't get to swim on that sunny day. The staff in the pool area gave us this really unwelcoming feeling, refusing to charge drinks to the room and only accepting card payment after some discussion. They wanted us to use an app but we didn't even bring our phones to the pool, we just wanted to relax and disconnect. Reception should have warned us about payment options. Besides this the TV in our room didn't work properly and we were not offered another room, neither did they fix it. At breakfast there was no salt, napkins or anything like that on the tables, only dirty table cloths. The breakfast as such was alright for the average eater but hardly any choices for vegans and nothing above the ordinary. Apart from a quite serious stain on an armchair and the defect TV the room was okay. AC was better that expected for a Swedish hotel, the bed comfortable, the bathroom nice. For the price I would expect room for a suitcase, cupboards and bath robes though. All in all we did not get the luxury stay we paid for. Except for the private pool experience they accidentally gave us. That was just awesome. Really, saved the day but unfortunately not this review.

Its a perfectly fine hotel but given the price I expect more. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. Great location. Breakfast is standard hotel but below average. The rooftop bar/pool is not included for hotel guests which was a bit surprising.

Beautiful hotel inside and out, don’t realise how many rooms there are until you venture to find it 😂 lovely bar on the ground floor with great staff, all very helpful and professional! Room was clean and comfortable, only stayed one night but was a lovely experience! Only downside my shower door never lined up therefore there was a cold breeze but I think that’s room specific because no one else I went with had that issue 😅

Stayed here in December 2022 and could not have been happier with the service. We have been to Göteborg several times in the past but never stayed at the Hotel Post before. The staff were wonderful and were even very helpful prior to our visit, communicating via email with very quick turnaround. There are only a very small number of parking places available - you need to make arrangements in advance. Super convenient being adjacent to the train station - easy walk with the bags. Will surely choose this hotel again for our next visit

Very friendly staff, and charming interior, especially in the morning buffet. Great location as well. However, the cleanliness in the room was not up to par, considering the prize. Dusty desk, brown stains on the floor panels and what I would guess was… ‘bodily fluids’, on the headboard of the bed. However, the bed itself was super comfortable, and the Swedish specialties such as the selection of fish at the morning buffet were appreciated. A pleasant stay, but I can’t give it a higher rating considering the cleanliness of the room, which we were just to exhausted to complain about upon arrival.

Avoid this place. Hotel in central location with rooftop pool, sounds nice! Well, think again…you need to pay for a spot in the small pool and it’s not allowed for minors after 15:00 which, inconveniently also is checkin time. When trying to reserve a spot the morning after it was already fully booked…so don’t get tricked by the nice looking pool option if you have children under 18. The service desk doesn’t pick up or call back your room after trying many times, so queuing in the front desk to get some help. Breakfast is included at least.

The location and advertising makes this hotel seem like a great place to stay but sadly I have to leave a negative review as I wouldn’t stay here on the next trip for several reasons: The walls are thin, the AC dripped all night and the shower drain was clogged. But by far the worst part was a private party that not only weren’t we warned of (or invited) but interfered with our stay. The bass thumped until 2am causing the thin walls to vibrate on the 7th floor! Seems like the hotel could have warned us or not “double dipped” at the comfort of the guests. Ah well.

Heard a lot about this hotel and wanted to try it. Got very surprised about a 4 star hotel sending an email asking you to pay 75sek for renting a morning robe and to do so minimum 24 good in advance of check in. If you wanted to use the pool that is listed as amenity of the hotel that needed to be booked as well and paid in advance 150sek. Breakfast slot needed to be booked in advance, no stress free morning for me. The staff in the reception was super nice so that's not the problem. It's the attitude of being a hotel competing with Ryanair in fees.

....a very good hotel, above average, next to the Gothenburg central railway station. The breakfast was amazing, all you could wish for and then some. The staff was very attentive and friendly. For a stay in the city center this is a very good choice

Great stay in a centrally located hotel that looked fantastic dressed up for Christmas. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The lobby was modern and warm. The rooms were comfortable but seemed dated, with soundproofing being our main concern as we could hear neighbouring rooms. Very comfortable bedding.

Hotel itself is good with a decent breakfast spread. The rooms are well laid out and clean if a little dark with subpar lighting due to small windows. A little dissapointing was the lack of any toiletries (toothpaste, comb etc) which you don't often need but miss when it's not available. The skeleton could use a bit of a refresh and the walls a fresh coat of paint but the service was fantastic and the staff friendly.

I had the pleasure of staying at this property in early February. It is located just across the road from the Central Train Station and within very convenient and easy walking distance from all the major sights of Gothenburg. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff are amazing and the breakfast is a true highlight of this stay. Highly recommended!

This hotel offer an amazing service, nice room, the staff in reception is very friendly. The Pool at the top is also amazing, and don't forget to order an amazing champagne to the room upon arrival, it's good with the truffles. The location is central to everything, and just a few blocks from everything. The price is also responsible

Frankly not what you would expect from a place that looks like this. Service was all nice, friendly and professional, even got myself an early check in, which was nice, but there were just too many little weird things that take away from the overall experience. Stuff I’d expect to see at a family run little place on the outskirts, not at a Clarion right in the middle of everything. A mix-up about dates at reception, wrong name on the room tv-screen (which together resulted in having to check if the room was actually booked for me and for as long as I needed), no liners in the trash cans, little stains on tabletops, weird requirement to book breakfast in advance, even though nobody checks if you’ve done so, etc. Not really acceptable for the sort of money they charge.

Unbelievable small room, with weird tv that woke me up 2am for some reason couldn’t sleep again. Breakfast is good, my room was in the other part of the hotel so I had to walk with my bags to get to the reception. Would not recommend this hotel!

As always theres always stupid less practical bathroom sinks, and lighting is modern but not ok if you whant to mess with your hair, but that is due to age a diminishing problem, love to place.

We had an award night function there and it was quite great. The food was extra ordinary and the hall they provided was wonderful. Stage lighting and space arrangements were fantastic. We can even use the outdoors to hangout. I felt this place is a good fit to arrange party and programs especially if it attracts large crowd. Very close to central station and it makes transportation easier too.

Great hotel next to the central station. Near everything you need. Excellent continental breakfast. The room was clean and the shower big. We had a superior room, big bed, soft pillows and down comforter, perfect. 25 minutes walk to Liseberg, you can also take the tram. 8 minute walk to Nordstan shopping. Not the cheapest hotel, but worth it.

My go to hotel when I’m staying in Gothenburg. I tried several hotels, but this is the best hotel when it comes to value for money. Good rooms and excellent breakfast. Close to the railway, which is great when travelling by train. The rooms can be quite different, so it took me several visits to find the rooms that I liked.

Stay here whenever I’m in town. The best location when you travel by train. Their breakfast is good and the rooms are decent. The service is alright but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, it consistently meets my expectations, and I’ve never left dissatisfied.

Booked 2 weeks before arrival, I also called to make sure to get nice Romantic room. When I arrive, the first thing the reception tells me is that we don't have the room that you asked for, but we have another room that is on the 10th floor and we can invite you to swim in their pool that is on the roof, fri of charge. They had a Christmas party at the hotel and the lift was off and I had to go through a door at the bottom of the corridor on the second floor to take another lift. I enter the room and didn't look closely at the room, after I put my bag in the room. I had to go back down to the station to pick up my wife who were coming with the train. When we come back, my wife says this room is unclean, we find blood on the sheets and hair clip. I asked my wife if it was hers but no it wasn't. We go back to the reception again to ask if we can get another room. They say it's fully booked. They say they will clean the room while we went out to have a little coffee. When we come back the cleaner says there was blood everywhere and we have to pay extra. I saw only red and could not stay a minute in such a hotel. I asked them to check us out immediately. When you book a room, you should get what you pay for. Very bad customer service

Nice atmosphere, great service, and tasty breakfast buffet, but the rooms are not matching the price tag and could be improved to get some of the luxury feeling the hotel lobby gives off vibes for. With that luxury feeling I would also have expected pool access to be included, which is something I’ve seen in even less fancy hotels. Too expensive here for what you get.

The hotel is decent, and Gothesburg is a nice cosmopolitan European city. I was here in April as part of a European Delivery of a Volvo, during which Volvo paid for this hotel stay. But that's not why this hotel is notable. Rather, it is home to perhaps the world's best breakfast buffet in existence! It's honestly like the Garden of Eden or something. The freshest farm-to-table meats, cheeses, eggs, pastries, juices, fish... Everything you could possibly imagine. All presented immaculately in a beautiful modern Swedish setting. Seriously. I was blown away by the variety and quality. If I had this near where I live in the US I would be tempted to eat there daily.

Very beautiful and cozy hotel located in the middle of Gothenburg city in Sweden. Very good stuff. It's located in front of Central Station. Busses and trains.

Nice hotel in the city center of Gothenburg with the rooftop pool, however it can’t be used in case of rainy weather and also is not included. Pet friendly, breakfast included. Not easy to reach reception if you call before with a question. Nordstand’s parking is being used so you’ll have to walk a bit if you need parking.

This review is for the bar, not the hotel facilities. While the location is excellent, thats unfortunately where the accolades stop. On a Friday afternoon, there is a 40kr charge to check your coat, a convenience some might be happy to pay, but not when it’s a) mandatory and b) you’re not allowed to take it into the bar. If the bar was enjoyable, it could be worth it. But the service is average at best, with overly militant security staff and aloof bar service that seem to prioritise talking amongst themselves over serving drinks to a full bar at speed. The tap beer is unusually weak, be specific unless you like the taste of river water. The Old Fashioned - usually safe drink that even under average conditions can be enjoyable - was thinner than horse piss and with as much character. Unbelievably disappointing, and oddly inconsistent with the quality of drinks at the tiny and even slower to serve bar on the second floor. The final kick was the horrific music playing, first the live act, then the DJ, at the volume of a 90’s club with a playlist targeted to teenage clubbers, instead of the middle class, middle aged businessmen who dominated the crowd. Never again. Great location though.

The hotel is located next to the train station. You are not going to Miss it. There are many big conference rooms and other sorts rooms to have different purposes. T.ex to have seminarier. Very nice service

Attended a jobmeeting and the room had very bad ventilation. The Clarion looks great and I have no experience with rooms to sleep. The restaurant during lunch served very small portions of food and the staff were a bit snobby and gave us ( about 20 people) feeling that they wanted us out of there as soon as possibe. Overpriced and bad service is my conclusion

For a four star hotel it falls short. Among many other things the towel hangers are awkwardly placed right above the toilet. No towel hanger near the shower area. No shelves in the wardrobe. Worn out television with faded colors and bleeding light spots. Room lighting is very poor. Telephone should have been on the bedside table. But besides all these, Ilya and Kajsa, the two receptionists, were been very kind, helpful, good listeners, showed understanding to one's specific needs and tried their best to find out a solution.

I think this hotel was great a few years ago, but it’s really starting to show its wear and tear. The lack of cleaning around the hotel was pretty noticeable the tree days we stayed. The staff were super helpful and nice. Bed was comfortable. We went to 5 floors and could not find an ice maker that worked. Breakfast was nice, good spread.

Internet reception was poor, connected through the phone and that worked better. Cleaning could certainly have been better. some details in the room was worn. Could not access the pool, that had a very stiff extra charge. Will look for another hotell next time. Location for people comming on train is great. Parking is pretty far from the hotell, something to consider when tavelling with smaller children. Breakfast selection good, but rosehip soup was too old and made my tounge tingle.

Firstly, the room was a bit on the small side, was expecting more room. Everything was nice inside. Breakfast was good, plenty of options, I decided to go healthy. Location was good, close to restaurants and mall. The reason for 3* is, on our last night Monday, there was a party in the hall at 1am, really bad singing, general drunken antics. It stopped for a bit, but then came back with a vengeance. Like the worse karaoke you have ever heard. It took a while for the hotel to do anything, but they did get under control, else this would be 1*. We had to be up at 5am. Staff on the desk were nice.

I really liked my stay here. Good service and nice rooms. Located in a central location and plenty of public transportation to get you around the rest of the town. On a silly side note, they don't put ice in your drink and you have to ask for it.

Lovely Hotel situated right in the centre of Gothenburg. Great value for money and an excellently equipped gym. Went for a work do being held at the local University and would certainly recommend it for both local and international guests!

Awesome location, and great lobby/facilities. The room did, however, unfortunately not live up to my expectations, particularly in light of the steep rate. Small, a bit dated/worn out. It could also be a bit cleaner.

As such this hotel has everything - great rooms, bar, breakfast, OK location, great architecture - only really big issue is arriving with car - that is a mess! Parking and setting things off does not work.

We've traveled extensively. We've stayed from the pitts (*) to the Ritz (in Paris), literally. This is one of the best customer services hotels we've ever stayed at. From the young blonde girl (I wish I remembered her name) who was the front desk when we checked in on September 10th to the girls who waited on us at dinner in the restaurant, to the staff at breakfast, to the same girl who was at check out at the front desk on September 11th. Awesome customer service every step of the way. If we ever get back we would for sure stay there again. Amazing customer service Clarion Hotel Post Gothenburg.

Great place in a relatively under-visited part of Sweden. Location? Right by the train station. Decor/ambience? It's a re-worked post office building, retaining much of the original vibe and works wonderfully. Staff? Friendly, accommodating, perfect. Loved this place. The in-hotel restaurant also had a great ambience and the food was delish. Final point: the price was right!

Definitely a hotel worth returning to! Whenever I visit Gothenburg, I stay in Clarion Hotel Post, and I always enjoy my stay here. Friendly staff with good service and clean rooms. The atmosphere is lovely and warm. The hotel is in a perfect location and close to all the public transportation. I would recommend this hotel!

Stayed there for one night when I was travelling for work. Great room, super helpful staff. Breakfast was really good, plenty of options. The only thing I didn’t like was the restaurant inside, on the 2nd floor but I guess that has nothing to do with the hotel itself :)

One of the worst hotels ever, I wish there was 0 star to give. Beds very small and uncomfortable, bathroom was dirty, found pink, long hair in the sink, dust above the bed and in the corners. They mask terrible smells in the bathroom by spraying Rituals fragrance, this is not working. We asked at 12, if they have a free room for early check in, they did at charge of 10 euor per hour, we have paid 30. However, when we have checked out at 4 am, they wouldn't refund us 10 euro per hour for early check out. Hotel is very dirty and charges for smallest things. Not worth the price at all, it's a 2 star hotel at best! Avoid!

High class hotel. Beware : rooftop swimming pool is not included with room fare. You have to pay 250 SEK (!) for each visit. Service not at expected level : useless concierge when in trouble.

  • 4/5 Matthew S. 1 year ago on Google
Large rooms with a great bathroom and full size tub. The front desk staff is always willing to go the extra mile which is very appreciated. They have an amazing breakfast though check the times as it didn't match what was on their website. There's also an amazing bar and restaurant on site and the roof top pool is choice. Located in the heart of Gothenburg with a lot of great destinations within walking distance. Public transportation, bikes, and scooters are also available right outside the lobby. We'll be back.

Very good historical hotel, there used to be a post office here and it was nice to combine. clean, well-kept with a very tasty breakfast. The beds are quite hard, but the location in the city center definitely forgives it. Great restaurant! The bar is also open until you know it! High prices, but adequate to the quality.

Just amazing how beautiful one hotel can be. The old post office building turned into a magnificent high roof classy hotel. The rooms are super awesome and very friendly team. Thanks for your hospitality

Rooms are very well equipped. Staff in the bar (near reception) is terrible, felt like we are in some low quality bar. Breakfast was good but nothing special. In other words not really worth money if you don't need to have direct access to central station.

Nice rooms, but noisy in the restaurant in the evening. The restaurant charges a 27$ cancellation fee per person after 15 minutes, not doing that again. The breakfast was nice but crowded. You have to book a 45 min slot in advance..
