My last dive was over 1.5 years ago so I always like to do a little "refresher dive" before I do much diving again. Matt brings an exceptional amount of experience, calmness, patience and most importantly he has an infectious enthusiasm that makes you feel at ease right away and enjoy every single dive. For the same reason it was a no brainer for us to make our other dives on the island with him as our guide. He knows the most beautiful dive sites and adapts the dive to your experience as a diver. This too he quickly and accurately recognizes after one dive. His dives may vary from night diving, shipwrecks to reef diving everything is possible. During your dives you can admire the most diverse fish, turtles, eels, rays and octopuses. In one word fan-freakin'-tastic! Diving with Matt was amazing! I recently did a dive with Matt with sister my 11 year old son and had the most amazing time. My son and I are certified divers but my sister was not but he was able to schedule and work in her discover scuba dive with our tank dive so we could all dive together. We saw some amazing things on the dive as well, from monk fish to sea turtles bigger than me! Would definitely recommend Matt to anyone and will definitely be using him again everyone I visit Hawaii!

I had a great experience working with Matt to get my open water certification. He was flexible and able to accommodate the timeline needed for a scheduled vacation to the Great Barrier Reef. I tend to run super anxious when it comes to water activities but thankfully Matt had such a calm approach - he made the whole experience enjoyable. I highly recommend!

All I can say is wow!!! My husband and I took an open water course with Matt. It was one of the best experiences of my life. He was so flexible with our schedule. He was so patient while teaching skills. He gave really clear instructions on every skill. You can tell Matt is really passionate about what he does because he made it so fun underwater with shakas, knuckles, and cheering you on. I also loved that Matt was able to take pictures while under water. He had a great camera that documented our dive. I loved my experience and would highly recommend Matt as an Instructor.

Fantastic!! I was certified Open Water level 1 with Matt/ Kraken Divers, and it was a wonderful experience. I did my pool skills in July in New York and the open water dives through Kraken so was a bit nervous of how much I would remember. Matt was very knowledgeable, supportive, and the dives were incredible— saw an octopus, sea turtles and tons of fish and coral. For dives 3 and 4, my family was also there & he was great at both going through the skills I had left and they had an equally fantastic experience on their rec dives. I would highly recommend Matt/ Kraken for training and recreational dives!!

Matt is super friendly and accommodating. I called the morning of and got lucky with availability. It turned out to be the best diving of my whole trip. Matt is extremely knowledgeable and confident. He’s disciplined and has a system so you know you are in good hands. However, there is no commercial or business transaction type feel to the engagement. It just felt as though I we’re meeting an old friend at a beach for some shore diving. Matt wanted to teach and make sure I was enjoying. It was incredibly comfortable and relaxed, and for that reason I will come back to dive with Matt every chance I get. He is the difference between diving as a tourist or as a local. I strongly recommend Kraken Marine Divers. Matt is a thoughtful, patient, and highly-skilled instructor. He was careful to address any of our concerns or fears. All equipment we were provided was in great condition and we were comfortable in provided wetsuit and gear. Scheduling our sessions was quick and easy. We completed our Open Water certification over the course of three days after finishing the e-learning (which took about 1 week for us). We did four open water dives at Electric Beach, which had excellent water visibility and we saw tons of marine life (turtles, eels, large schools of fish, and more). We're excited for our next dives.

Just did a 2 tank dive with Matt from Kraken divers. In few words it was perfect. Saw lots of BIG turtles, Muray eels and amazing marine life. Totally worth every penny. Im happy I went for 2 tank dive instead of 1. Matt was just great and the captain of the boat too. Thanks again Matt. Will definitely go with you again next time in Hawaii...
