Ko
Olina
Beach
Park
is
a
man-designed,
man-made
elegant
landscape,
which
is
an
integral
part
of
Ko
Olina
Resort.
The
beach
has
many
daily
visitors
from
the
neighboring
communities
along
the
Waianae
Coast
and
more
distant
locales
across
the
islands.
And,
there
are
vacationers
from
around
the
world,
who
frequent
this
idyllic
location.
Ko
Olina
in
Hawaiian
means
"Place
of
Joy"
or
"Place
of
Happiness."
Translated
into
Japanesd
the
words
become"
"Yorokobi
no
tokoro"
or
Yorokobi
no
bashyo."
Indeed,
it
is
a
stunning
and
memorable
place,
where
many
enjoy
their
unforgettable
visits
and
stays.
This
beachhead
was
originally
a
vast
sugar
cane
field.
And,
living
among
those
sugar
cane
stalks
were
a
countless
number
of
colorful
ladybugs.
Ladybugs
still
inhabit
these
lands.
Today,
October
20,
2023,
one
even
decided
to
keep
me
company
by
choosing
to
ride
along
on
my
vehicle
with
me
back
home.
The
iconic
ladybug
image
is
now
the
symbol
and
logos
of
the
Ko
Olina
Resort
and
Ko
Olina
Golf
course.
It
is
said
that
the
renouned
King
Kamehameha
loved
visiting
this
region,
as
a
remote
hide-out
and
resting
place.
Far
removed
from
community
activities,
he
chose
to
relax,
bathe
and
take
in
mesmerizing
sunsets
with
his
family
and
warriors.
Today,
many
adore
this
carefully
landscaped
property
for
identical
reasons.
See
for
yourself.
Also,
for
all
you
avid
bird-watchers,
there
is
a
BIRD
ALERT
in
place.
From
August
through
the
end
of
April
each
year,
you'll
see
an
amazing
migratory
bird
visitor
from
Alaska,
called
the
Pacific
Golden
Plover,
in
Hawaiian
"Kolea,"
meaning
one
who
takes
and
leaves."
Each
year
the
Kolea
comes
to
Hawaii
in
August
(the
Fall),
winters
here
in
the
Hawaiian
Islands,
then
returns
again
to
Alaska
(it's
birthplace)
in
the
the
Spring
following
its
winter
stay.
It
makes
it's
astonishing
non-stop
(with
no
in
flight
meals
:):)
for
the
3,000
miles
in
3
to
4
days.
Images
of
the
"Kolea"
appear
later
in
this
post.

Rain

these
