Please take care of our home! I hate seeing the park this way. I've been coming here since i was a little kid and even remember what it was like when the Navy ran it. For years after the Navy left it was still a beautiful park and the community seemed to take care of it so we still loved spending weekends camping here. However, in the last 5-8 year this site has seriously declined. Now don't get me wrong, I don't blame the homeless for the state of our parks, in my experience the worst disturbances, litter, and neglect come from people who go home to their houses and leave the mess behind them. I just wish some sort of effort would go into enforcing the City's camp site rules. Along with a re-opened comfort station, (doesn't need to be fancy, just enclosed showers and a few toilets with working lights at night), some new picnic tables, and a proper runoff catchment system for the showers (currently the shower runoff collects toward the middle of the campsites creating a foul smelling swamp which is surely a health hazard) the park would be well on its way to revival. I really wish our children could enjoy this part of our community as I did growing up. Come on people! I pledge to continue going here and to leave it better than I found it each time I do. I dare you to do the same. Aloha.

A microcosm of Oahu. Beautiful sandy beach, great place to fish, relax and chill. Also, overrun by transients, enough flies to pick you up and carry you away, lots of trash. It's best to be aware of your surroundings and protect each other. The city needs to do a better job of cleaning as well as the people who use the park.

Roomy camping grounds with rock bonfire pots and picnic table and huge white sand beach. Don't need 4x4 to drive in although there is some parts of road with sand in it but it's fine to drive with regular vehicle. Cons: no beach bathroom. But got showers.

Try not to camp here and expect quiet after hours. People driving loud trucks blaring music at all hours of the night, the only quiet hours were from 430 am to 630am when the car powered concerts started back up.

Great beach with many shaded pine tree areas. Enjoyed the birds here too, especially the red headed cardinals.

Parking accessible if you arrive early. Usually windy. Some trash found on the shore. Sand bars and reef on this side. Portapotties available for restroom :( no showers this side unless you go to white plains

Spent 3 days, 2 nights at this campground in the forest that is also at the beach. All campsites are shaded by trees, some of which are perfect for setting up your hammock for an afternoon nap. But wait-the 4-wheel drive trucks are racing up and down the beach all afternoon. Then they come back and do it at night, for hours, right next to your tent (see photos). Called the po po 4 times in those 2 nights, twice got a response and results. Clean sweep! Until the next day...The restrooms are closed but there are several port-a-potties scattered around and the outdoor showers work great. You park right next to your campsite so it's very safe. There's room enough for at least 1 vehicle, a few of the sites have room for more just depends on how they are situated. Some of those parking areas are muddy and have large puddles. You don't need a 4 wheel drive vehicle (I got there in a Nissan Sentra) just know that it will get dirty. There are not many walking trails through the forest, but the beach is nice and long.

Came here to watch the sunrise. The campground is a nicely shaded, and a beach permit is required for beach access.

Out of the way beach with reservation only campsites. Porta-potties only, with a on site fresh water shower. Beach is pretty and due to it being out of the way, its not that crowded. Some small surf, lots of reef. Great fishing spot. Good amount of ironwood trees for shade, but you can easily setup a spot in the sun. Overall, nice beach, minus the conveniences.

If you like a non crowded beach with very little amenities this is the place for you. Bathroom and showers are available. Picnic tables in all campsites. Lots of ocean! Love it!

So impressed by our surf instructors at Kalani Surf School. There instructions were clear, visual, and step-by-step. They were real supportive and all members of our family were up surfing the whole hour. Highly recommend!!!
