This is a gem hidden away from all of the touristy beaches in Hawaii. Parking was super simple and gaining access to the beach was easy. The sunset was gorgeous and the beach only had a few people on it. Pro tip.....there is a residential building nestled against the mountains within view of the beach. Drive the beautiful road leading to that building before sunset and see peacocks and an awesome display of the sun hitting the mountain.

Beautiful local beach with a good amount of space to accommodate even larger weekend crowds. Easy to feel like you have some room to breathe here.

Beautiful beach! Easy to get to and they really watch to make sure all swimmers are safe if the waves get to rough or the current gets to be to much for swimming.

The beach is great. The water is kind of rough or at least it was when we were there today in June. Not really great for small kids or if you don't know how to swim in my opinion. Gets deep fast too. I was here on a Wednesday and it wasn't that busy. Seemed to be enough parking. We actually left and went somewhere calmer. Still worth checking out though.

Great place for family time. Nice views of the mountains behind and beautiful ocean view on front of you. Bigger waves on the side for surfers and more quiet water for relaxing swimming. Lifeguard on duty, but not so much parking

Love this beach! Visited several times with the kids. There's a great spot for surfing or stay in the middle for calmer waters. Lots of people snorkel here. Beautiful sunsets, too!

Used the plentiful parking at this beach park to do the Makaha Ice Ponds trail. See all trails for more info https://www.alltrails.com/trail/hawaii/oahu/makaha-ice-ponds?u=i Absolutely beautiful hike and the ponds at the end of the trail are well worth the trek and it wasn’t very difficult with not too many muddy areas and some shallow streams. Even though it didn’t rain for the past 2 weeks, I was still lucky to be able to see the ponds nice and filled. Near the ponds though, however I was swarmed with bugs so use bug spray and apply liberally!

If you are ever in the area please visit Makaha Beach. It is low key and not too crowded. The people are super friendly that frequent this beach and there is a Viet808 food truck that is usually there Monday-Friday from about 11-7. I tried quite a few items on their menu and everything was delicious.

Romantic place to watch sunset from the car, picnic table or sand. Small rolling surf break out here too. Not too busy most nights.

It was very clean and nearly empty. Yes, this was on a Monday at noon, but still. Barely any waves, great for just lounging in the water and snorkeling. Lifeguard on duty, so good for families with kids. Food truck and shave ice truck across the street for snacks.

Warm soft sand beach in Makaha one of the more popular & populated beaches on the West side of Oahu. Great beach to go hang out ,swim, body surf ect. There is a lifeguard on duty on the weekend. A must stop as you travel North West on the 93.

This beach is really awesome. I went to check out the snorkeling at this beach and was not disappointed. There is some great snorkeling accessible from shore. I believe this beach is also known for surfing and it is a great scenic beach in general. The parking can be kind of a nightmare on busy days so be prepared for that.

Lovely sand beach for just chilling and swimming. If you're not a strong swimmer check with the lifeguards first before getting in. When we were there they pointed out an area where the currents will sort of just keep you about 150 feet offshore unless you can swim through the current. That only seems to happen with certain tide and wind conditions though, so don't let it scare you away, but it is something to be aware of.

Great beach with some fairly easy waves for everybody. I visited in early spring and the waves weren't anything crazy, but the undertow was very strong. It was easy to swim back to the shore, just be careful. The beach was clean, had lots of scenery, and is a very welcoming place. A lot of local people were there and out body surfing, surfing, and boogie boarding. Overall an amazing, quiter beach with great scenery and a family friendly place.

Loved it , beautiful and fairly small waves so we were able to swim and have a nice time relaxing on the beach.

Nice beach but can get crowded with tourist, college students and tour groups. Alot have zero courtesy towards others and space.

Best beach on the west side! Never crowded. Great swimming in beautiful turquoise water. Awesome sunsets. Evening surfing and sunshine all day and 🐢 turtles swimming around or just basking in the sun!

Beautiful beach with surfing. It was also okay for swimming while we were there. Washroom/change room/shower is available just across the street. There are some nice shady trees on the north end by the surfing area. We stayed for a nice sunset!

The beach was fine. The lifeguards we're obviously being diligent. The rest room left a LOT to be desired. Little things like doors, toilet seats, toilet paper, etc.
