We decided to see what restaurants there were across Walmart in Kapolei and stumbled on this place. We were greeted by the workers when we walked in. One girl (Asian) stood out with the glasses, she didn't have a personality but the rest of the group made up for it. She was the reason why I only gave it a 4. I observe when I try different places. I might change my 4 to 5 if she is there again and see if she improves. We ordered the following: Brisket Chili Mac and Pulled Pork Classic Sandwich w/waffle fries, baked beans, and spicy sauce. All Winners! Delicious! It was good portions and the price was reasonable. Couple of the workers were really awesome. Wish I got their names. One guy let us refill the sweet tea, another guy brought us extra napkins, and asked how was everything. The guy that gave us extra napkins greeted us as we were leaving. Majority of them seemed like they were enjoying working there. When we are in Kapolei again, we will definitely try other things on the menu. We will bring more family members. Give this place a try if you didn't. You will not be disappointed.

Ordered a pound of sliced brisket and what we received was not sliced and possibly one of the worst brisket ever had. Dry and overly salty. At almost $30/pound it was totally unacceptable. We've had other items from this location that were very good but can't recommend the brisket After talking with the manager they hooked me up with some legit smoked brisket! Thanks so much for reaching out and taking the time to make right. 🤙

The beef was great perfect flavors and fat to meat ratio. The sides have good flavors, waffle fries are perfect jalapeno beans are good. The creamed spinach need some work little too salty and too much cream not enough spinach taste like a spinach dip, also the tea was way too sweet, need to figure out a better sugar ratio. We fed four adults and two children for around 45$. Would eat here again.

We were skeptical of BBQ in HI that wasn't huli-huli style, but this place changed our minds. We're used to SE (read: wet) BBQ--Memphis, Nashville, Carolinas, AL, GA...so dry-rub TX BBQ was heresy. Ha--tried it here and we drive over 30 min to this joint at least weekly now. TIPS: -Sliced brisket is amazing--find a way to add it to your sandwich (Sunday is a good day to order the brisket sandwich; Wednesdays are a good day to order the Westerner for a variety of meats) -ALWAYS ADD a rib if it's offered--sizing is inconsistent at times, but when it's this good, chance it. -Check your order before you leave (especially sides), because they are busy and on rare occasions, stuff gets forgotten. -Use the app or go online for easy ordering and nutrition info/calorie counts. -Join their rewards program--loyalty rewards are generous. It's surprising how quickly they add up. -Check their Daily Deals. Great value and a good way to add a little extra something to your regular order (or eat your way through the menu). FOOD: -Choose your sauces; if you like that more vinegary Carolina style, you can get it here too. They serve it on the side, so sample away--no fear trying the hot or sweet sauce. -Fried okra side is popcorn-style and kids loooooove it. No sauce, but order the Caesar salad and dip it in the dressing cup. Yum! -Potato casserole side is surprisingly tasty and homey, like a crazy upscale meat-and-three option. -Caesar salad is a go-to side; many places no longer offer it so we were surprised they offer this--and it's fresh and good. -Green beans (flat, cut-style) were a little soft for us. Wish they served collards or greens, too. -Side beans were simple, clean, and a nice counterbalance to ribs. -Creamy spinach with Asiago cheese side is rich and more like a loose dip; good with chips or the kids' meal side roll. -Mac and cheese side is very good--more homemade style and much heartier than the usual box-o'-Kraft some other places serve (looking at YOU, Zippy's!) -Coleslaw side is good, not too loose or too sweet. Chopped (vs. shredded) style in a light mayo base. -Westerner sandwiches are on ciabatta, others on a soft, grilled bun--stands up to the meat, hearty with good proportions. -Pulled pork is very good; just enough smoke & juicy. But the sliced brisket...OMG GOOD. Rarely you'll get a not great/too small piece (out of 10 times, maybe just once), but most days, there ain't nothing better. -Maybe it wasn't the right day for it, but the chicken breast was a bit dry. If the other meats weren't so dang good, maybe we wouldn't have noticed, but it didn't stand up in comparison. Will try it again another day. -Sausage is in large slices, decently thick but not too much. A good second meat in a sandwich with the pulled pork or chopped brisket. -Kids' meals are well-proportioned. Slider meal or ribs meal (2 ribs) are their faves. All kids' meals come with a small squarish ciabatta roll. Save the side roll, save a bit of meat from another sandwich/plate, and make another slider. Magic! Your kid'll love it. OTHER STUFF: -Customer service is great. Owner is sometimes there behind the counter, and is very very nice. Abby(?) is super sweet and will call you if they're out of something you've ordered online, so make sure you put a legit contact number. It's come up as a private number before, so check your voice-mail if you have that "no private number" setting. -Shop's been clean every time we've come in. -Parking is free & plentiful; shop is at the end of this complex, across from the Panda Express. -Delivery available through the usual suspects (DD, UEats, etc.). -Credit cards accepted. -Yes, everyone there wears a mask. In fact, they take it so seriously, the owner even made masks with the Dickey's logo on it--we saw the employees wearing it and were very impressed. -No drink refills right now because of COVID, but that's everywhere, no biggie. Super great shop, excellent food at a VERY reasonable price for the quality of the cook and flavor. Really good BBQ. Don't tell anyone from Nashville or Memphis we said that. ;)

We were visiting from DFW area of Texas when we saw a Dickey's BBQ. Glad to find some Texas BBQ here in Oahu Met the owners and gave them 2 thumbs up on Texas flavor. Only need to learn to make sweet Texas tea LOL. Thanks for the great food. Very busy while there, I think Hawaiians like it too.

This has to has to be the last time I order from here. I understand that policies change, management changes, menu items change, but certain things is just a no go imo. They used to actually give large sides when you order the large meal packs, there were a lot more options before. They used to give you as much sauce as you wanted, now they give you one, and charge you for the rest. The sauce that we got was nasty, it just tastes like cinnamon or something, it doesn't taste like BBQ sauce at all. The meats are fine, they're not hot, but what can you do when ordering out. They forgot my Texas toast, the sides say it's supposed to be large, but they came very small. Also assorted chips as a side, is ONE BAG, ONE SMALL BAG!! 😡 The Mac and cheese is fine, the fries taste good, but they're cold. Overall I'm very disappointed by how the quality of their service has dropped, especially how expensive everything is. I understand inflation and all that jazz, which is why I still attempted to order from here, but I honestly think this is the absolute last time. If you want brisket go to Ala Moana.

I ordered 5 plates, 1 mixed meats (which one of the meats did not come in the plate & it was empty). The rest of the plates were brisket with the sides that come with. When I contacted the store they refused to help other than I bring the plate back after i was already at work and they'll replace the missing meats. The manager gave me the run around & this was on 11/4/22. It's now 12/2/23 and I still have not got my refund for the missing meats. It's so difficult to get a hold of anyone at the store let alone a manager who understands I didn't get what I paid for. I wouldn't mind if it was just one plate and it wasn't an expensive order, but my total was $90 plus tax. I hope the service gets better the worst part was the manager wanted a photo of the plate with the missing meat & the receipt which the two workers in the store did not provide. I only got my emailed receipts. Maybe they should hire employees who can do simple tasks like follow the order on the ticket & then I wouldn't have to deal with this.

Is this for real? We’ve been going to Dickey’s for years and today we drop almost $100 on a meal and this is legit Kraft mac and cheese. We even got two mac and cheese sides because it was always our favorite. Very disappointing.

Dickey's is good, for what's offered on the island. I wish it had more of a "smoke" flavor to it. I'd say the best thing on the menu is the Brisket Chili Mac n cheese. It's super saucy, and cheesy, and has great flavor. The fried Okra is pretty good too; however, you must eat it quickly while it's still crunchy or else it'll get soft, and not as appetizing. . . Almost like when you consume too much liquor on your date. Nobody likes limp and soft okra. Overall, it is a bit pricy for the portions that you get, but not bad, and plenty of options for everyone.

First time here. I've been to others on the mainland. Really good, and they had an allergen list! So....there are gluten free options! Yeah for decent BBQ in Kapolei!

Usually we have great food. But this last time they had someone who doest know how to cut their meat and yes she tried to sneak it in our container. Well not try but did. So all we had was a bunch of meat that was just stripped with the grain. And boy was it hard to eat. I wondered why she was acting all sketchy to her coworkers. I mean they raised their prices too!!!.. so I ended up paying at least $20 more than what I wanted.

Until a couple months ago I would have given you a 5 rather than a 3. You used to have cooks and servers who understood Texas style barbecue but now it appears to be more local employees being trained on the job who do not really know how to prepare it properly. I asked for the brisket to be thin sliced but it was totally shredded. The fried okra did not taste right at all. I was there on a weekday at noon hour and there was no line and only one table occupied. I will hesitate before going back anytime soon.

The food was decent, but the customer service lacked. After I walked in and ordered, the cashier handed my order and said have a good day. I almost walked out not paying. I looked at her shook my head and asked do I pay? She realizes oh yeah...I came home to find my order was messed up. NO ONE else in LINE...I called the store and they could only offer 2 choices which were not worth going back for. Wow....this experience of service was down today.

This place is hot garbage. BBQ is overcooked and lukewarm/cold. Mac & cheese was luke warm and trash. Potato salad was the equivalent of store bought bucket junk. My 3yo daughter wouldn't even drink the sweet tea because it was sour. Usually you want the meat to fall off the bone of the rib - instead the bone was falling off the meat from being so overcooked. Garbage, go to Canes and take some BBQ sauce with you.

Wanted some BBQ, and drove by this place with signs advertising their business, what they offer, and the beers they have. Went in and ordered, and asked for a beer. They can't sell it because they aren't old enough. So if they aren't old enough to sell beer, I definitely don't want their BBQ.

Tried giving this place a second chance but their service is just horrible. First time I ordered online and when I got there the staff was just chatting while my ticket was just sitting right in front of them, there was nobody there and still took another 15 min for them to package my order and their food is pretty much ready. Went again today and ordered a plate and once I drove away I realized it was missing the brisket and all the sauces which are paid separately and the add on I ordered. The food was cold and took another 20 minutes for it to be ready. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere, staff and manager apparently don't care. How hard it is to read a receipt and deliver what was ordered and paid for?!

Review for Kapolei Dickey’s Received my delivery on time and hot! Great job package the order as well. I was satisfied with our order, overall. There was only one thing wrong but that one thing was, in my humble opinion, the most important representation of a good BBQ spot. This one thing was the soggy, grease soaked, drastically overcooked, and absolutely not sliced brisket. As you can clearly see in the attached picture, there is no way this should have left any restaurant looking like this, especially soaked in grease. I mean I don’t even understand how that amount of grease even got in there and I’m assuming it counted towards the overall weight of servings. I hope this is not the standards for this restaurant. As a native Texan, I have always been taught the standard is, take a slice lay it over your pointer finger, it should drape but not tear. It should only tear from a slight tugging. Now this may just be my preference but it sure has been a good measure for tenderness and not being overcooked. As I said earlier, I hope this is not the standard I would like to give this place a second chance though. Their sweet tea was amazing and really reminded me of Texas sweet tea.
