We
don't
live
in
Hawaii,
and
during
our
brief
visit
we
wanted
to
escape
the
tourist
traps
and
experience
some
of
the
real
local
stuff.
Some
googling
led
us
to
this
place.
I
am
*so*
glad
we
went
here
instead
of
the
glitzy
place
on
the
beach.
When
we
got
there,
there
was
a
line
and
we
were
the
only
tourists
-
both
great
signs!
After
a
brief
wait,
we
were
seated
and
helped
by
an
incredibly
friendly
staff.
Thanks
to
some
other
reviews
we
knew
to
order
the
chicken
long
rice
for
our
picky
eater,
but
we
went
more
adventurous
for
the
other
family
members
and
got
a
poke
bowl
and
a
Hawaiian
sampler.
Oh
my
gosh
-
so
delicious.
The
atmosphere
was
very
much
"you
are
eating
at
a
local
restaurant,"
right
down
to
the
formica
countertops
and
corrugated
plastic
cups
for
the
drinks.
A
family
next
to
us
had
their
dog
at
the
table
and
were
feeding
him
from
their
own
plates.
This
is
REAL
Hawaii,
folks!!!
Was
reminded
of
my
favorite
comfort
food
spots
back
home
in
Boston.
The
focus
here
is
clearly
on
great
service,
delicious
food,
and
you
leaving
with
a
smile
on
your
face.
It's
a
20-30
minute
drive
from
the
city
(or
it's
literally
across
the
street
from
a
train
stop
if
you
want
to
take
public
transportation),
but
it's
absolutely
worth
it
to
come
and
experience
some
of
the
authentic
local
flavor.
Definitely
will
come
back
if
we
visit
Honolulu
again!!!
