Go to this place! Pack up a lunch, gather up family and friends, then drive here and enjoy some island time! There is plenty of parking and space to spread your wings here. I’d recommend bringing proper fish food as the fish patiently/impatiently await your payment. Walking trails are very nice so bring good shoes. Carrying drinking water is highly advised, as well as an umbrella to keep the beating sun and occasional rain off your head. Take it slow, enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery!

Beautiful, scenic, lush botanical garden. Great for families, kids, and elders. We have parked in the first parking lot to take the kids out to run around and play near the koi lake then enjoyed a snack picnic on the grass. We also driven up, up, up (didn't realize how far up you can drive) and it was great for sightseeing. We ended up having a photoshoot here and many people had the same idea!

Beautiful gardens. Lots of rules. Please read the signs and don't stop on the dang road! Best place to walk early in the am, before they open. Dramatic views. Beautifully landscaped.

For me one of the most beautiful places on earth I’ve ever been to!!!!! It’s so unique and overwhelming, we were literally speechless. The nature is impressing, we couldn’t get enough. And it’s really convenient since you can take your car and stop at the parking lots, get out, walk around and take pictures. It’s just gorgeous!!! A must-go when on O‘ahu!

Unique gem full of mother's earth energy. This place is magical, you can recharge your batteries here and and connect with your spiritual side. Gorgeous trial walks, where you can see so many different plants and wildlife. Amazing views and you can take wonderful pictures here too. Plus is free and the entire family can join!

This place is absolutely majestic and magical. The staff there were so sweet to my family visiting and more than the epitome of what ALOHA spirit should be. The nature trails and visitors were so at peace and hospitable, it was a breath of fresh air. I’ll be visiting here again soon with my friends and family visiting. Thank you for keeping the country COUNTRY! Cheers and Namaste 🙏🏽

One of the prettiest things I've ever seen in my life. It was magical there. I didn't even see half of it yet. We will be going back. The scenery was just gorgeous, there was lots to learn about the plants, and the staff was great.

These gardens are the magical part of Kaneohe and the East side tucked against the mountains with plenty of places to discover for locals and tourists. If you aren't the hiking type the park is good enough for a slow drive through or if hiking is your cup of tea then their are plenty of places to explore. From the visitor center their is a lovely walk down to the lake with ducks and fish that love to be fed and lots of local flora to check out! Even if photography isn't your thing you will find yourself taking pictures of all the amazing scenery. A must visit on your next day off or you find yourself planning a vacation.

Gardens filled with flora from all over the world. Excellent walking paths (stay on the path signs there to remind you). Places to sit, places to pose for photos, places to relax. High recommend you visit if you are on the island.

Very beautiful! You have to drive through the gardens until you see designated parking spots, buy the place is simply gorgeous! I saw a young couple getting their photos taken here. It was sweet and wonderful! HIGHLY recommend to see plants in their natural habitat not restricted by greenhouses.

The best thing in life is FREE! Hawaii is amazing in many different areas, perspectives. Was my first time to be here and there's no fee to come here. Strict protocol on speed limit which is 15MPH. You can do picnic here with your family ;-)

It's unbelievable and the most beautiful botanical garden in the world. Without jokes, I fall in love in this place. I was just 4 days on Oahu, and I was twice in this garden, and I couldn't leave this place. This place share energy, beauty of our nature. You can spend here a lot of time. I'm sure , it's my favorite place and I'll be back here. Thanks all persons who keep and save this place for everyone.

Oh wow!!!! This garden is so, so beautiful. They close at 4ish if you aren't camping there else I would have stayed for little longer. The garden is huge, with beautiful spots to take pictures and outlook areas to stop your car and spend time. They also have small likes around the lake. It's funny green, with millions of different vegetations. They have benches, restrooms and sitting areas near the visitor center. Ample of parking space.

I went here on Valentines day. Perfect spot for a date idea. Park is well maintained, and free admission also. Staff is friendly, most of the trees are labeled great for learning about different species of plants and trees. I did the hikes in slides but I'd recommend shoe's. Recommend driving around to each different spot of the garden to see everything.

  • 5Erin F. 10 months ago
Absolutely stunning! So many beautiful plants and Jurassic park views! Highly recommend- wear water shoes - muddy when it rains and there are rinse off stations.

Absolutely breathtaking! A must stop if you’re in Oahu. The path to the lake is barely a hike but feels very secluded and peaceful. People were very respectful of their surroundings and the of the peace. The drive up to the parking lot was amazing. It’s also completely free. There’s no reason to not stop by if in the area.

  • 5Nathan B. 7 months ago
Free! You can’t go wrong visiting this place if you’re in the area. A great free place to take family and walk around/have a picnic if you want. Keep aware of the times they are open though. You can apparently camp here on the weekends also. Definitely not stroller friendly unless you got something with big wheels and don’t mind some bumps, unless you stay on the main road and don’t go on the little trials (that’s no fun though). The popular Instagram spot is no more also, they make sure you keep driving and not stop. It’s posted everywhere. Enjoy!

This place is bizarrely designed, and by that I mean it’s actually quite tricky to navigate through all the sections on foot! There are some really beautiful areas inside the sprawling gardens, but also some blandeur (like grandeur but bland). Fish swarm the retaining pond because I’m sure tourists are feeding them, but it’s quite a site. Beyond this you’ll need to be crafty and read the map well because the paths through the rest of the garden are barely marked and it’s impossible to tell quite where you are. 5 stars for natural beauty 2 stars for navigation.

  • 5A. 3 months ago
Insanely beautiful place! We took a map of the botanical garden to the visitor center just in case, everything is marked on the map and everything is clear. You can travel by car or on foot, whichever is more convenient for you. As I understand it, there are 5-6 viewing points in the form of a park against the backdrop of beautiful green mountains, I liked it at 1, 2 and at the last point. We were there on a Wednesday so there weren't many people there. At the last point there is a covered seating area, I saw a sink there, you can have a barbecue with a gorgeous view! There is parking at every point. I also saw hungry fish and ducks in the lake, it’s a pity that I didn’t have anything to eat with me.

Very beautiful botanical garden with breath taking views. They have a pond filled with orange fish and all kinds of unique plants. They have camping grounds and picnic areas so you could definitely plan for all kinds of activities and events here. The views of the mountains take your breath away. One of my favorite botanical gardens on the island.

Wow what's beautiful place. Since it's free you must come here . It's tucked away at the base of the mountain and in s residential neighborhood.. but the scenery is amazing . There are several parts of the park and they have such a tremendous amount of variety it's amazing. Also locals come to do picnic's. We got lunch at a local place fresh catch then brought the food here to eat. There are several restrooms.

An incredibly beautiful botanical garden maintained by the city of Honolulu. Garda are divided into different sections with parking lots available in most of the sections. Once parked there are gorgeous walks along the paths through the vegetation. Most of the major plants/trees are identified with a small plaque. There is larger signage for more significant plants/view points. Camping is available. There is a fairly large pavilion by the lake where reservations are not used but is shared on a first come basis with no social events such as birthday parties authorized. Staff was incredibly helpful at the visitor center.

Beautiful place to,hike smells very freshly because of the plants, herbs, and flowers. There is the area with the lake that you can see so many fish and occasionally duck in the water. There is other places to hike if you go further down the, trail. Very easy hike, even for people who recover from surgery, and walking 4-5 months outs very nice trail to walk on and a light jog may be.

This place is beautiful. Free and there was so many spots to park and watch the scenery. Tons of trees and plants to read about. Lake to have a picnic around and tables around the entire place to sit. I’d recommend bringing some food to eat anywhere around the gardens. Top 3 things we did in Oahu.

  • 5J S. 1 year ago
Absolutely beautiful!! It’s definitely worth a stop in the botanical gardens when you’re in Oahu! I started at the visitors center where there are restrooms. There was a very friendly and helpful staff member giving out maps and offering suggestions. From there I walked down to the lake which is gorgeous and super peaceful! They also have several lookouts and different camping areas. Even though I went in the winter and there weren’t too many flowers blooming it was still so lush and amazing! Oh and it’s free!! I would highly recommend!!

Absolutely one of the nicer places on the whole island. It's muddy there and a full of visiting nature lovers but really a fantastic place to visit. The lake is FILLED with bump head goldfish and massive Asian Carp. Perfect place for families or dates

Absolutely a must when visiting O'ahu. Many different spots to pull off and park to explore more areas. You can download a map via QR code at the main visitor center. Take your time when here and soak in all of Mother nature's beauty!

My favorite place on Oahu, it's huge, gorgeous and not crowded at all. Would recommend exploring it on foot. The eastern gate was closed for some reason so I had to go back several miles on foot to exit the garden.

It was alright. Not sure worth the time. The views were better at koaloa ranch!

  • 5Katherine M. 1 year ago
Beautiful botanical garden. The road through the garden is also really beautiful if you don't want to walk through the garden much. They also have some camping, not sure how that works (especially during covid). Next time I'll bring picnic gear and spend the whole day at the gardens :)

This branch of Honolulu Botanical Gardens is little more than ten minutes out of Kailua and was laid out in the early-1980s by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for flood protection. All the more beautiful in the shadow of the Koʻolau Range, Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden is a rainforest garden planted with species from tropical regions around the world, among them Sub-Saharan Africa, Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka, Polynesia, Melanesia, the Philippines and Hawaii. These are grouped geographically and create spellbinding vistas against the soaring Pali Cliffs behind. Also take time to peruse the visitor center and the art galleries next to it. You can download a bird checklist before your walk, while the garden offers a range of activities year round, like camping, catch-and-release fishing and painting.

Pretty small but scenic garden. They no longer allow pictures taken on the road so that was a bit of a bumper.

  • 4Brigitte N. 10 months ago
This is a tree botanical garden rather than a flower one, trees from all around the world. Some areas REALLY feel like the thick jungle! There are separate areas reflecting different countries, each with a parking lot, bathrooms and beautiful PICNIC areas. I wish we had known that and brought a lunch and also that we could have walked between each area rather than having to drive. You can't take any of the flowers home even though they fall off the trees and are all over the ground... absolutely beautiful!!! We took a picture of the map at the visitor center so we didn't miss anything. They have a QR code that takes you to a website map but we didn't want to pay for roaming data.

An outstanding botanical garden and it's massive! So much to do and learn here! My family spent an entire day here just walking the grounds and learning about the local flora and fauna.. And about the surrounding mountains that made this landscape.

  • 4Gabriel R. 1 year ago
Took my kids there and we all had a good time.

  • 4Ty D. 1 year ago
I went in the early afternoon. The entry was free (yay!). It’s a beautiful place and pretty serene. There were not too many people there either. I’m not gonna lie, the picture that everyone is dying to take there but can’t is not that serious and that makes the garden a little over hyped. It’s still a good place to visit though.

The road to most attraction was closed at 3:30 without any notice, it says everywhere that park works till 4 pm, so we were not able to spend any time there

  • 3Ludwig F. 1 month ago
Very beautiful place to visit. We didn't have too much luck with the weather (very rainy day), but still pretty to see! Free of entry, so definitely worth a stop. What I did not like is that this place (as so many others on Hawaii) is very car-centric, and there don't seem to be too many walking or hiking trails in the park. The main street doesn't have sidewalks either. So people seem to just drive their car from parking lot to parking lot.

  • 1David L. 1 year ago
Absolutely beautiful and stunning, but the experience is completely marred by the lack of social distancing and masks. Zero enforcement. I do not recommend going here until after the pandemic.
