Incredible sushi! The service was excellent, you could tell that everyone really loved working there. The food was amazing, the sushi and sashimi was fresh and delicate. They source local fish! There’s plenty of parking, just be carefully of parking too deep in the lot, the gates close near closing time. Be prepared for an hour to two of waiting.

We were so lucky to find this gem! Driving through and crazing sushi.. We made our way here. Recommend to go early to avoid the wait. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly, but the service and food was amazing. A little hard to find parking. We parked in the back of a shopping center next to the restaurant. All of the food exceeded expectations. I also loved the beer selection! Give this Japanese Pilsner a try! The portions are great so that you can just keep ordering small plates. Will remember this as a go to!

My friend and I went to Nuka for dinner on a weekday around 5 pm and we had to wait for 15 minutes before we got seated. Nuka is a small and sleek Japanese restaurant with diverse small-plate list, sushi & specialty rolls, plus a range of drinks. My friend and I got karaage chicken and spicy garlic edamame for appetizers. Karaage chicken doesn't come with any sauces on the side. It comes with a lemon and that lemon was enough to make karaage my favorite dish of the night. The chicken was juicy and well cooked and the breading on the chicken was light and crispy. The spicy edamame was pretty good too. Some edamame were flavored more than the others but it was still really good. We also got Nuka and rainbow speciality rolls. Of the two speciality rolls, Rainbow was the better one. The rolls werent packed properly and it kept falling apart. They also used a very small cut of the fish. We also tried their panna cotta and double scoop ice cream - green tea and calamansi flavors. Panna cotta was not very flavorful. It was barely sweet. The fruit on top wasnt fresh. It was very dry. The two scoops of ice cream were pretty good. Calamansi flavor was citrusy so it was hard to finish it by itself towards the end (still pretty good though). Overall it was a good experience. The ambiance was great and the service was wonderful. Parking can be a bit tricky. We parked in the parking lot next door but I'm not sure if you are allowed to.

Friendly staff in a packed house even at 5:30! Extensive sushi and small plate menu. Decent prices except for the alcohol, a bit overpriced. That margarita and half glass of sauvignon were $14 and $13 respectively. The vegetable udon was tasty and the mochi ice cream bites were the perfect end to the meal.

Nice quiet spot for sushi lunch. Weekday before 11:30am was just us in restaurant. No reservation required and fresh & local sources.

For me it’s the #1 place to eat on the island. It opens at 1630 and people are queueing from 1600 to get the first sitting. Unsurprising. The food quality is superb - if you’ve been to good sushi places in Japan, you’ll know just how good this place is. Baked Eggplant is divine, as is the Godzilla roll, Sashimi plate and I can’t recommended enough the Hurricane Fries and I’m not a fan of fries! As for deserts - I loved the home made ice cream made with black sesame seeds. The service is wonderful and the prices are fine for the quality and service. Be patient if you have to queue. It’s totally worth it.

Everyone said Nuka was THE place to get sushi on Maui, and it didn’t disappoint! We were warned that there may be a long wait, so getting there right at opening time is your best bet. We arrived early, to a few parties also waiting for the doors to open. There is a decent sized sushi bar and maybe 20 tables inside… pretty cozy. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was amazing. Some of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was presented beautifully and tasted great! Will definitely return!

No reservations made. Walked in and waited about 20min. . Enough and easy parking lot next to it. . 🍣Sushi platter is a little bit disappointing. It was not as fresh as we expected for island. . 🍝miso cream pasta on the other end, brought surprise. It is super good. Creamy and also refreshing.

The best grilled black cod fillet ever here! It just melted in your mouth, a piece of Pacific Ocean delicacy^^courteous and warm environment, kids friendly due to the highly-sought matcha &sesame ice creams.

The Lilikoi Lemon Drop and the Nuka roll were spectacular! The Nuka roll was the most well balanced flavor I’ve had in a sushi roll before. I highly recommend making the trip over to Nuka! Also, get the homemade ice cream

Fell upon this Gem while visiting Maui. Little restaurant in a little town. Opens for dinner at 4:30. "The Wait List" is visually made by the customers as they arrive, starting around 4:00. You basically look at who is there before you and around 4:30 everyone starts to line up in the order they arrived. Make sure to get there early. If not, you won't make the first round of tables and the next round of seats won't open up until 5:30. Now on to the Food......WOW, WOW, WOW, it was so good! Had the Spicy Garlic Edamame, (2) Rainbow Rolls (because the first one was so good we had to have another one), California Roll, Vegetable Tempura, Hurricane Fries, and a House salad. It was amazing! Service was ok. Nothing to rave about but it might have just been our server. It's a great location to stop for dinner if you're on your way back from the Road to Hana. Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful lunch here. Ordered the miso butterfish, stir fry and some sushi. Everything was fresh and tasty (their ginger is also extremely fresh)!

The menu had a lot to choose from, so we tried a bit of everything. The sushi was very good, as well as the nuka bowl with tofu also tastes amazing. The chicken wings caught us off guard on how delicious they were! The atmosphere is also very warm and relaxing. It is a bit pricey though.

I don’t normally write a food review but for Nuka. First, I really like the fish of their sushi even though the rice ball underneath is a bit loose when I dined there. But I feel very disappointed about their takeaway for the creamy spaghetti dish with salmon where the fish was burnt on the surface when I opened my takeaway box. I tried to reheat it and take the black part out so I can feed my kids but is too burnt. I doubt their honesty and skill as a restaurant. Is it because I don’t have time to check the take away so they didn’t cook it properly?

Perfect little sushi place in Haiku town. Loved it. The Thai Chee special roll was so amazing, probably best roll I’ve ever had.

Ranks in my top 5 Sushi restaurants of all time. Worth the drive away from the resorts to enjoy an authentic sushi experience with the best cuts and preparation.

Food was amazing! Very good quality fish. All local caught fish did not disappoint. Pomegranate martini was amazing (not sweet, a little sour with a sugar rim for the perfect compliment). Great service too!

Absolute fantastic experience and fantastic sushi. It was nice to get away from the tourist side of Maui for a relaxing and local feel evening. Nuka delivered in every aspect. The All Blacks Roll was one of the best specialty rolls I’ve ever had.
