Khá thú vị. The National Museum of Anthropology (Filipino: Pambansang Museo ng Antropolohiya), formerly known as the Museum of the Filipino People(Filipino: Museo ng Lahing Filipino), is a component museum of the National Museum of the Philippineswhich houses Ethnological and Archaeological exhibitions. It is located in the Agrifina Circle, Rizal Park, Manila adjacent to the National Museum of Fine Arts building. Built c.1916-1918 from a neoclassical design by Canadian-American architect Ralph Harrington Doane when he was consulting architect to the Philippine government, the building formerly housed the Department of Finance. It also houses the wreck of the San Diego, ancient artifacts, and zoology divisions. The National Museum of Anthropology stages the Philippine ethnographic and terrestrial and underwater archaeological collections narrating the story of the Philippines from the past, as presented through artifacts as evidence of its pre-history. It's free ✨️ Many sponsored rooms with different themes. If I have nothing to do I would spend half of the day just exploring everything and gain new knowledge and learn new perspectives of art from our ancestors, predecessor artists. It feels amazing discovering things from our past and it would fulfill your soul. Enjoy the experience in roaming around and it is allowed to take photos as well! There is also a baggage counter which is nice if you have heavy things or you have food because food and drinks are not allowed inside. But, again, the most important part, it's free! ✨️ Hope this review helped! You will not regret visiting this museum. 👌

I am very pleasantly surprised by this museum. Very interesting expositions, thematic sections with explanations in English about almost every thing. This is a valuable rare feature of the museum. And the variety of topics is simply amazing: from ceramics to modern art works. I recommend visiting it unequivocally. Separately I would like to note that the museum is free of charge and large bags can be handed over to the luggage room, presenting an ID document.

The National Museum of Anthropology in Manila is a remarkable destination for anyone interested in the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. Housed in a historically significant building, the museum offers an extensive collection that spans various aspects of Filipino history, culture, and anthropology. Visitors can explore a wide range of exhibits, including traditional textiles, ancient artifacts, and detailed ethnographic displays. Overall, the National Museum of Anthropology is a must-visit for its rich educational value and its role in preserving and showcasing the Philippines' unique cultural identity.

This museum provides a good insight into the filipino culture and history. The architecture is beautiful as it is the same style as the natural history museum, and the whole area is being renovated. I wish there were more about the prehistory in the Philippines as well as more on the recent history (WW1 to now). Despite that, it's already an interesting museum as is and I recommend it. PS: You have to leave your bag at the entrance (lockers) and be careful if you're visiting on rainy day/rush hour as it will be difficult to book a grab going back home.

The museum is an excellent place to learn about the anthropological history of the Philippines from the early austronesian tribes to the Spanish and Visaya people and culture to the emergence of Muslim and Catholic cultures. It's truly a well-defined museum with floors divided into several exhibits starting with ancient ages, art and pottery, agricultural equipment, weapons, and clothings. Also, the cultures of each group and how it merged into the multi-ethnic culture now.

✓Free admission ✓Vaccination Card & Valid ID ✓Kids are allowed as long as accompanied by a vaccinated adult ✓Big Bags and Hats MUST be deposited in Baggage Counter ✓Foods and Drinks are PROHIBITED ✓There are some artifacts (in our case it was at the Textiles and Baybayin) that are allowed to touch, be sure to read the label and these items are delicate so just be careful if you do so. ✓Taking pictures are okay but Videos are STRICTLY PROHIBITED. ✓There are few seats inside the galleries to take a short breather. ✓Comfort Rooms each floor. ✓There's a lot of those sensor activated audio narration, just make sure you are standing under the dome-like thingy to hear each item's history.

Due to COVID 19, they now require to book a reservation on their website first and do not really cater to walk-ins. When we visited the place, it was not crowded and they really maintain the cleanliness of area. It was quite amusing to see these historical items in a way that we can appreciate. There are some areas that are not open yet/under maintenance.

Have a better sense of what human societies were like by visiting this beautiful museum. Some levels were inaccessible when we went here, but the experience was pleasant nonetheless. There were sensor-activated narrations, providing a more interesting way to learn more about human culture and developments. Many of materials displayed are from the pre-Hispanic period. Everything makes you appreciate art and life in general more. Make sure to bring a copy of your vaccination card. No entrance fee. While you’re here, maximize your time by visiting other neighboring museums: The National Museum of Natural History and National Museum of the Philippines.

A great place to everyone who loves Anthropology and national history. The building is big and large that you can explore for few hours. No entrance fee is needed. You can come to this place without any prior reservation. A good place to visit with family and friends including children as en educational activity. The location is strategic within the iconic Rizal Park.

It was a wonderful experience. I went there at around 2:30 pm and finished touring the place at 4 pm. There were plenty of students doing a field trip, studies and research. Tourists were there too, but a few. Walking distance to Luneta and Rizal Park, National Museum of Natural History, National Library and Intramuros (well if you enjoy walking for quite a few kilometers). Upon entering, you will be asked if you're visiting with a group or just solo. In my case, I went there solo and I was asked to present my ID (I used my student ID) and ask you which city you came from. For group visits, I guess there's a limit on how many you are and will be asked to present 1 valid ID per group. There are no fees, and they also have a baggage counter (I was only asked to leave my water behind). The staff are very well friendly, not strict or whatever. Ate guard was soft when I asked her if my ID is accepted. They were all cool. So the content of the Museum has 10 Galleries, each gallery represents a certain type of history or art. It has 4 floors/levels (if not mistaken) and there are signages where each galleries is located. It also has an elevator, a lot of comfort rooms and a garden.

This museum tells the story about Philippines history. Teories about first people. They have some artifacts from digsites. It's a big museum, the only minus is it's a little confusing to find the way and follow the timeline. But some back and forth, up and down you will figure it out. I recommend anyone who want to learn about early Philippines to visit this museum. Bring water.. As always gards, guides, people are super nice. This goes for the whole Philippines. ❤️

This is a great place to learn about the Philippines Culture and History. No need to buy tickets, entrances are free. You just have to bring a valid ID to enter the place. The place is quiet and applicable for learners and educators. It can also be helpful for researchers as they have a library inside where you can learn more about anthropology. I recommend that you might visit more of the museums nearby.

What a dump.. Didn't think the streets and restaurants of Manila could get any dirtier. Wouldn't eat in any other the restaurants I passed. Everything had the putrid smell of the rivers flowing with effluent and trash. Dirty grimy place with lots of traffic as per normal in Manila..

This museum has the best visual display among the museums in Intramuros. The exhibit items are all placed in a way your eyes sees no empty space. First floor displays the beginning of Chinese being in the Philippines and Chinese people's jobs, while the 2nd floor displays influential/popular personalities with Chinese roots. They also have two wifis, one for each floors.

The Bahay Tsinoy is a great place to visit to reminisce and be informed of the history of the Philippines specifically the Chinese-Filipino heritage. From afar, the statues are life-like. You will feel that you were truly there in the time they are portraying. There is also an exhibit on the third floor which showcases the success of Chinoys in the country. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. The guard asked us first if we are students or not then showed us the way to the ticketbooth. Bring your student ID for discount!

The Philippine Heritage and Culture is really rich and diverse that these exhibits here were far from its truest representation. But you will truly appreciate all here if you are into reading Philippine History or you are just proudly Filipino. The admission in the museum is free, and expect that the gallantry of the facility is at par with some of the finest in the entire Philippines.

As someone who enjoys museums, history, art, and has a thirst for learning more about his own cultural heritage, this place was a must for me and I truly appreciated my visit. I learned quite a bit about the history of Magellan and Enrique through the lens of a Filipino. I learned about some of the different cultural practices, different tribes, and implements Filipinos used throughout. I wish I had more time as I did as much as I could in 2 hours. I'll be back and I'd encourage anyone who wants to learn more about the Philippines, its customs, culture, and people to come visit as well!. It was free, so what are you waiting for!

I was amazed by the artifacts being preserved here. Good to know that despite of we're living now in the Modern Century-We are privilege to see the things invented or being used for the past decades which is connected by this todays generation. It is indeed that the Filipinos are known for being good in preserving the cultural, traditions and beliefs. they're expressing arts by creating sculptures, carving, painting, pottery and even textiles. Note: If you want to visit here: -Bring Valid ID -And Highly requested to please follow the Rules while you're inside the Museum.

It was amazing! Looking back on our history and the genius that our ancestors had when making fish-catching devices, their own aesthetics, and weaving is extraordinary. I especially enjoyed the Palay exhibit. Best to go during weekdays as it is less crowded. No entrance fee but bring a valid ID for registration. Don't go alone like I did 😂 minus 1 star because their Marine Repository and LIBRARY (which I was most excited about) was closed. Food outside is limited so best eat before coming to the museum.

An interesting destination to learn more about Philippine culture. My friend and I actually enjoyed our visit as it wasn't crowded when we went there on a weekday. The location is a short walk to other national museums and to LRT United Nation Station. Video recording is prohibited as advised at the entrance but taking of pictures is okay. Free admission, closed every Monday.

Free entry! Pretty amazing place if you’re interested in history. It’s much larger than I had expected! There’s about 4 floors of exhibits, however you have to take the stairs so be mindful of our children and elderly. When we were there the elevator was out of order, but maybe sometimes it works. This place isn’t recommended for people with a hard time walking and there doesn’t seem to be a wheelchair access. We went on a weekday and it was very relaxing. However once school got out there were lots of school age children running around. I think it would be pretty busy on weekends. It closes at 5:00pm so be mindful of the time if you want to go to all the museums in the area in one day.

(Translated by Google) Chinatown Chinatown ↓ Chinatown is a place that surprises me a lot. It feels a bit like the scenes of ancient Hong Kong movies, but the area is a bit more dangerous than other places. This is a point I want to go, but not in me. In the itinerary planning ~ If I don't meet other friends I know this day, I dare not come alone. He is a district in Chinatown. The area starts with the Chinese-style archway "China-Philippines Friendship Gate" and ends at the other end "Goodwill Gate". This entire district is within the scope of Chinatown. It is said that Chinatown in Manila is also the earliest Chinatown established in the world. It has nothing and nothing strange! It refers to gold jewelry, Chinese medicinal materials, industrial supplies, tea houses and so on! Even the very old slot machines and small steel ball shops of the old casinos that often appear in movies! Of course, I ’m more timid ... I do n’t dare to enter such a place, after all, it ’s most important that I do n’t know how to live in a foreign country. What needs to be noticed here is that there are too many robberies here. The bags really need to be taken care of. We really encountered some children during the walk to ask us for money, and they will always block you. Always follow. Although I would like to help them very much, if I give it to other children or street friends, it will affect my own safety! When I was in Chinatown, all the standard looks of my tourists were taken out! The whole look around, look around and look at everything. It feels weird and new and special. It has a feeling of being in a Hong Kong-style movie, especially those exposed wires, noisy surroundings, chaotic streets and mixed taste Especially felt! There is only one handsome actor! This atmosphere, everyone knows it by themselves 👍 And we will temporarily decide that the main purpose of coming to Chinatown is to find food! And there is a Lanzhou ramen in this place, we must recommend it to everyone ~ This one is seriously cooking! The noodle taste is better than several local noodle restaurants in Taiwan. The beef noodles, shaved noodles, and wonton soup we ordered were all very good, and now I think of all drooling ... By the way, if someone here wants to help you open the door, do n’t be embarrassed, otherwise you have to pay ... Vignette ▶ On the return journey, I encountered a metamorphosis and suddenly blew my ears very close ... I was shocked ... As a result, my fellow friends kept telling me: "You must be careful when you are alone in the remaining days! Encounter strange People still have to be calm in this kind of thing. Do n’t panic and know? There is another person who does n’t want to come to an unsafe place like this! ”Moved immediately +100!

Stumbled into this museum while visiting intramuros. Normally, I wouldn't care to drop by a museum like this but I ended up finding it a little bit interesting. Historical museum celebrating Chinese Filipinos with lifelike mannequins and dioramas. We were the only ones in here at the time, so it was a nice air-conditioned break from the outside world.

Bahay Chinoy is an interesting place to know about Chinese history, influences, and personalities in the Philippines. The most engaging exhibit is the life-size dioramas of various trades and aspects of life where the Filipino Chinese excelled and contributed much to. Ours was a very quick go through of the place courtesy of the Manila Hotel Visita Intramuros program, but it was no less informative and rewarding.

Visited again after almost 2 years and the collection is still awesome. The entire vibe of the museum is solemn and the exhibits are interesting and varied. The management enforces extreme precaution against Covid-19 and guests are required to book a day (or more) before their visit. They have a website for that. Before entering, they will take your temperature, check your booking, and you have to register to Stay Safe. The guard then reiterates the do's and don'ts inside the museum. They only allow 200 persons for every session. All in all the entire experience was fun and will definitely visit again. Hopefully.

This building is 5 story with a lot of antique display. A collector will love this place. Also informative. There's a lot of renovation going on but nonetheless did not disappoint. Same rules apply to this place like the other buildings. Picture allowed, no flash. No video. Vax card and ID needed. There's baggage area for your belongings.

The place truly speaks the history. It's one of the best medium to learn and explore the relics of the past. You'll see how rich the Philippines is, and it encourages you to learn more about it.

Mostly Philippine Culture is displayed here. you could see collections from big time businessmen like Lopez, gokongwei, tambunting etc. A must visit place. Free of admission. Just be early so it isn't crowded. Ok to bring kids. it has parking in front. Make sure to bring vaccination card with i.d. for proof adults 18 and above or soft copy picture is fine. Below 13yrs old ok no vaccine needed

Going inside the museum is for free and definitely great for chill, simple, but informative dates, or just an artistic time spend with family, friends, or as an individual. I've been here twice with 2-year gap and we always discover something new and good to see in the National Museum of Anthropology. It has been improved a lot and a few hours of stay is worth it. Just make sure to follow rules and minimum health protocols for everyone's safety. Tip: do not bring any kind of food or drink in your bag when coming in. You will be asked to leave it and abandon once you enter the vicinity. There's no way you can take it back.

I really enjoyed this museum, although the security at the entrance are genuinely a bit ridiculous in what they consider to be a backpack. If a guy is wearing a sling bag it's okay. But if a girl is wearing the same size bag, it's a backpack. The temporary exhibit - Indio-Genius - was very interesting to see, but the high point for me were the exhibits on the top floors (no pun intended). One disappointment, which seems like it may be true for all three of the national museums in this area, is that there was no little gift shop where one could buy something and help support the museum at the same time. One thing is certain, compared to museums in other countries around Asia, nothing compares to the museums in the Philippines; they are far better than any other museums I've been to in Asia. What's more, they're free, which is the way all museums really should be.

I am delighted! Before visiting this museum, we were at the National Museum of Natural History across the street, and to be honest, I was more impressed when I was here. If the first museum had more natural exhibits, then here I got acquainted with the creativity and vision of the Filipino people, the development of the Filipino nation. As a person from another country, it was extremely interesting for me to immerse myself in the world of the original Philippine culture, and the whole country seemed to open up from the other side for me.

I really liked the layout of this museum. Dimly lit and it’s semi open layout where you can gaze down to multiple level downstairs. Large collection of artifact from Asia (from India, Indonesia, to Thailand and Cambodia). Many sections of the museum don’t allow photography.

Free to enter. We visited last week and Kidlat’s MadExpo exhibit is displayed. I went here to learn more about clay pots and porcelains and it didn’t disappoint. Great way to know your roots through this pot culture. It’s my second visit here. Most of the exhibits are closed and some relics were pulled out for National Museum Cebu. No wait time since we came around 9:30am. Water bottles are not allowed but they do have a guarded locker to keep your belongings.

Up to personal preference we suppose, but this was our least favourite of the three National Museums in the area. After around 30 minutes, we were satisfied. Had we known that it wasn't quite as captivating as the others, we probably would have spent more time at the National Museum of Fine Arts. As always, plan based on your predilections.

I feel like I walk through the past. They placed many original items, such as bed, costume, chair, etc. the third floor has the hologram show, but unfortunately, the English version did not work. I'm not sure about which day would have fewer customers. I went there on Sunday, and it was only me there until I almost finish my visit and has two customers got into the museum.

Incredible museum with 5 floors of extensive exhibits about Filipino cultural history and indigenous customs (weaving, textiles, pottery, writing system, farming, architecture, and more). Shines a light on the rich and long history of the people in the Philippines. The floors are just a little difficult to navigate at first. Basically the floors are big squares around a central courtyard. Make sure to walk through and explore every floor Not to mention that it is completely free to enter. You just need an ID and proof of vaccination. Also, they have a free bag check

The National Museum of Anthropology, formerly known as the Museum of the Filipino People is a component museum of the National Museum of the Philippines. It houses ethnological and archaeological exhibitions. The building was probably constructed between 1916–1918 and it housed the Department of Finance. Unfortunately, the original structure was heavily devastated by American bombardment during the Battle of Manila in 1945. It was rebuilt in 1949 in the same design. The museum is open daily (except Monday) from 9 am to 6 pm. Free entrance.
