My friends and I decided to splurge a bit in celebration of our birthdays and Toyo Eatery went above and beyond our expectations. Our friend group normally visits dive bars and casual restaurants and so we thought that we would feel kind of awkward and stiff having a fancy dinner but instead the staff made us feel welcome, we felt super relaxed, had such a genuine good time, and the service was exceptional. The whole dining experience felt like a love letter towards Filipino heritage ingredients. We ended up staying and talking till 12 midnight and we didn't even notice the time. Thank you to the entire Toyo team, we had such a good time! We hope to visit again soon!

Reservation recommended. If you're used to Filipino Food, nothing new in terms of taste. I get the heritage, local ingredients, dining experience etc charm of it, but when it boils down to good tasting food, I'd say you're better off spending 3 grand elsewhere. There's about a third from the 8 dish tasting menu that I wouldn't personally order. Some really sharp tastes (soup, salty), funky raw seafood notes (oyster and seaweed), and just textures I wouldn't call pleasing included there. Good enough for one time dining. Allot 2 hrs if you're doing the degustation. Service is the usual for tasting menus. Quick, attentive, they explain the ingredients, sourcing etc. Interior is plastered cement with lights designed to highlight the food. Great looking tables and well crafted. Not a fan of the chairs.

If I could give 10 out of 5 stars, I would. Got reunited with my friends after 7 years of not seeing each other and tell you, Toyo Eatery made this reunion extra special. Not only the food is amazing, you can really sense that everyoneโ€™s passionate about food. Every plate they served us was a delight โ€” from the taste, texture, balance, stories of where ingredients were sourced, up to the inspiration behind the dish. It was an excellent experience! Good company, good food, good mood! Thank you so much. Highly recommended! Until next time.

It's with a heavy heart I have to give 2 stars. I can speak from experience after having tried fine dining restaurants on numerous occasions. Really had high hopes, the venue and atmosphere were spot on but that's where the high notes ended. Credit to the team because they obviously put in a lot of thought and chose really good quality ingredients however the actual dishes were somewhat off putting. There was a dish that had 18 different vegetables in but they might as well have used 2 as there was a strong overpowering flavour which offset any delicacy. An aubergine dish that was sickly with too many soft textures, even the table next to us were just prodding it with a fork and looking disappointed. A crab dish that was to be mixed up and eaten however once everything was mixed up there was once again one overpowering flavour that was for us too heavy and sickly. An amuse bouche was a welcome relief to the previous onslaught of heavy unrelenting dishes. The 4 desserts were no better. I had to enquire about the strawberry dish as the white chocolate was almost waxy and difficult to eat, cassava cake was lacking anything special. Sorry guys I know you have the skills and the team to achieve great things but our experience was disappointing.

Amazing restaurant, not surprising at all that this regularly makes the top 50 list in Asia! Set menu was excellent, and the service was top notch. Food is all of extremely high quality, with ingredients locally sourced from around the Philippines. The staff do a wonderful job of explaining each dish, the ingredients and why it is made in a particular way. Couldn't recommend more!

This humble place is a gem for vegetarian people! The food is great but our may want to stick with the hummus because the salad is so simple it's not worth it for the price. Hummus Elijah is so good you need to order another pita bread just to finish it. Will definitely go back here again!

Panaderya Toyo! Must try merienda spot! Try their Egg Sandwich, Potpot Pandesal, Mango Pagong and their Bicho bicho. They have the best coffee concoctions too! Offers takeaways only during ECQ. Cheers!

Reserved weeks in advance -- the process was hassle-free. The restaurant itself is well ventilated, cozy, with good music. Kudos to the excellent staff who took us on a ride with the Tasting Menu, with descriptions and stories that make your stomach and heart full hehe. They also adjusted the menu according to preferences. I thought hindi ako mabubusog pero SOBRANG busog after. Hahaha.

Such a unique dining experience. So much thought put into each dish from the ingredients, technique & plating. Each plate came with a story adding value to the experience. Loved the cocktails/mocktails that used Filipino ingredients. Pasko is a personal fave. If I may add a tiny comment, making sure thereโ€™s a good balance between sharing stories with guests in between plates & allowing them their own space to experience it on their own without the host staying too long while eating. But overall, canโ€™t wait to be back!

Their hospitality, service, and food knowledge on top of their great food made us decide that we'll come back for more. They have elevated the experience of having Filipino cuisine by sourcing different local resources, bringing out the best in each one, and serving them with great care. Toyo is surely one for the books. PS. We absolutely love their choice of plates and ceramics.

A great experience for me! The servers were really nice - they don't take themselves too seriously and would crack jokes with us. The food was great! I ate food I wasn't a fan of and ended up liking them. Went on a Saturday so we had the 8-course meal. I also loved how they would tell the story of how each meal was made. My gf and I had some different servings due to my dietary restriction (milk & cream) but got to try those as well. Worth it. We got the outdoor seating as well. Thankfully it was raining so it was not hot. It felt actually more intimate.

If i could give Toyo more than 5 stars i would. One of the best if not the best tasting menu outthere. We're glad that we didnt try Toyo before we tried the other tasting menu cuz it would have set the bar really high and wala hindi na namin maappreciate yung iba. What we love about Toyo are the food, the crew, service and the place. We loved that they were really consistent with when it comes to the quality and taste of every dish. It's hital after hit. The crew was lovely, warm and very friendly. Thanks to them and Sir Genesis for making our toyo experience one that we will definitely remember.

Manila. Happy to have tried this restaurant which is a part of Asiaโ€™s 50 Best Restaurants. While I love traditional Filipino cuisine, I love to see it re-imagined. Service was great - they definitely took time out to explain the ingredients, where it came & how it was cooked. Minor comments for improvement especially in comparison to other Worldโ€™s 50 Best Restaurants weโ€™ve eaten at: 1) a little bit more attention to service since we had to ask for water refills. I know this sounds so entitled but this is basic for 50Best/Michelin restaurants and for the price, these things should be a given; 2) still on service, it couldโ€™ve been quietly in the background vs us clearly hearing we were ready for the next course ๐Ÿคฃ and 3) my chair was wobbly which they did fix but again, why was it used in the first place. The above are truly very minor comments to help improve because I did give a rating of 5 stars! See pics on the amazing food we ate that night!

This dining experience was quite intriguing. Many of the dishes showcased locally sourced Filipino ingredients, and there was a variety of desserts to enjoy. The price is on the higher side at โ‚ฑ4900, plus a service fee. It's worth noting that some of the soups and dishes tended to be on the sour side, which might not be to everyone's taste, especially for those with a preference for Chinese flavors. The meal took quite a while; we started at 8 pm and didn't finish until almost 11:30 pm, making it a lengthy dining affair. It's not easy to categorize the food as exceptionally delicious, but it does offer a unique taste of Filipino creative cuisine, which is a noteworthy experience. Additionally, the ambiance was lovely, with each table having its own dedicated server who provided introductions and engaged with the diners, enhancing the interactive aspect of the meal.

What an amazing experience - the 11 course tasting menu is so thoughtfully put together. Love the modern take on local flavours - every dish was great, so was the no.5 cocktail. Flawless service too - really attentive staff. Special shoutout to Steve who sang us the folk song that inspired the salad! Would definitely recommend this place if you're visiting Manila - do make reservations in advance though. It was packed even on a weekday evening!

Booked reservation 3 weeks ahead. On arrival, we were made to wait 45 minutes before being seated. They offered my a cocktail while I waited, after I went in to ask what was going on. The cocktail never arrived. The decor is very modern and trendy. I liked the solid wood tables, but there could have been a little more art or decorative elements on the wall. The menu is sparse; not vegetarian friendly. We ordered the set menu. They were out of one of the options, despite us being the first ones to order during the second service of the night. The simple menu listings are a smart ruse; they lower expectations, and when the very good and interesting food comes out, it seems even better. Most of the food was delicious, and interesting presentation. The only downside is the food is lacking in colour; looking at the photos afterward everything seems to look like brown blobs. The vegetable dish especially is a presentation disaster; apparently it contains 16 vegetables, but is presented to look like a very small pile of dirt. I'm not joking, I guess it's supposed to look like a bonsai pot with a teeny herb spring growing out of it? Sad all those bright vegetables are served as compost. The service is very friendly, once they managed to get us seated. The courses moved very quickly, and then we were left waiting and waiting for the bill. It was a very interesting fine dining version filipino cuisine, and I'm glad I went. I don't think I'd go back.

I love Hummus Elijah and as someone who isn't quite familiar with this type of cuisine, I was hooked right from the first bite. However, I do think there's a need for improvement on their customer service team as I reached out to them on their Instagram Page wanting to get clarification on inclusions of a certain food/item as I wanted to order off Foodpanda and for some reason, some inclusions don't appear on the app. That's when I messaged them and the person handling the account at the time came off rude. It put me off from ordering. It's unfortunate as I absolutely love their food.

My wife and I had such an amazing experience. This place deserves a Michelin star (surprised they don't have one yet). Definitely go for the taster menu. The whole experience was fantastic. Paolo, our server, was definitely one of the highlights of the experience -- he told us about the dishes in such an entertaining and personalized way, and left us with an anniversary gift at the end of the meal! We're definitely coming back.

The best food tasting set I have tasted so far. Toyo Eatery is so worth the money. Aside from a very stylish and warm ambiance, the food tasting set are amazing and out-of-this-world. The food served is utterly memorable for years. I really loved how intricate, detailed and how creative cuisines here can be. Toyo Eatery used the best of Filipino ingredients made with almost perfection and taste that is exploding every bite. Aside from the world-class food choices, the service here is top-notch. I really love how well-versed and knowledgeable the waiters here. Service is highly-commendable. Toyo Eatery is worth visiting again. Thumbs up for this world-class restaurant.

If youโ€™re into tasting menus then you have to try Toyo Eatery. Itโ€™s well worth your money and an easy recommend. Bear in mind that the flavors are more on the adventurous and playful side of being pinoy rather than polished. If thatโ€™s your theme then this is a must go. Get the whiskey sour in the photo below.

A true Filipino experience! The food, Filipino enthusiasm and hospitality, the team was amazing. Even Pinoys would appreciate their twist and take on our traditional food. It's also a great introduction to Filipino food for foreigners. I think we had 18-courses. Each small dish was painstakingly prepared. They spent hours on a dish and it makes it a masterpiece. I even learned a lot about the history of some of our popular Filipino food and ingredients. They even gave us something to take home from their bakery, that was so Pinoy :) We had a hard time getting to the restaurant during rush hour because it's difficult to get a taxi or Grab so try to get there early. It's located in Chino Roces extension next to Alorica building. Parking is huge so I think those with their own cars will find it easier.

Unfortunately we weren't able to get a reservation at Toyo, but we did stop by and visit Panaderya Toyo. We had the Saba Bicho-Bicho and the Pan de Coco. Both breads were incredibly soft and moist. The coconut inside the Pan de Coco was fresh and didn't taste at all artificial. The Saba Bicho-Bicho had great layers and the perfect ratio of fruit to dough.

The best culinary experience Iโ€™ve ever had, and Iโ€™m not exaggerating! Toyo Eatery has decolonized Maharlikan (FilipinX) food. They are focused on preserving pre-colonial culinary techniques and traditions by sourcing their ingredients from local/regional farmers and businesses. They are proponents of passing on these traditions through food and education. The FilipinX food renaissance has been slow in the West, I believe this is due to fact that Pinoy/Pinay chefs and entrepreneurs are not often willing to break away from western trends, influences, and classicism - we simply keep getting stuck in the cycle of colonial mentality. I truly believe that Toyo Eateryโ€™s approach to FilipinX cuisine is what FilAmโ€™s have been waiting for! Thereโ€™s more to our food than Lechon and Lumpia - our food history is rich in preservation techniques, vegetable dishes, herbs and spices, and the bounty of the waters that surrounds our beautiful archipelago.

We got to try their tasting menu last month and it was โ€œokayโ€ for me. We were there 7pm-12am, a total of 4-5hours for a tasting menu. At first we were excited but towards the end, a bit underwhelmed. The tasting menu consisted mostly of seafood dishes, 1 pork dish, and desserts. The only dish/dessert I would recommend is the leche flan ice cream. I love the fact that theyโ€™re helping to keep a Filipino tradition alive by using โ€œAsin tibuokโ€ (from Bohol) in this dish. As for drinks/cocktails, I wouldnโ€™t recommend any.

One of the best interpretations of Filipino food Iโ€™ve ever had. I first tried Toyo a few years ago and recently went back. The ambiance is great with a huge tribute to indigenous Filipino design, where itโ€™s clearly inspired by whatโ€™s native to the country. We were going to have the full course meal, but unfortunately, everyone in the table had to order the full course to order it. Given this, we opted to go for the set menu instead and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious, filling, and magical the experience was. Every dish served was fantastic. On top of everything, the service was great and everyone was so nice. Iโ€™ll definitely be coming back soon!

Went there for their special New Year's dinner (one of the only days they were open on a Sunday). We had a special 14-course dinner including their famous dishes. Loved the attention and detail they put in preparing the dishes. Went with the cocktail pairing and it did not disappoint. Service was great and it's fascinating how they are able to use those Filipino ingredients to make those modern dishes. Still can't choose which one was my favourite. Worth the price for the food and overall dining experience. I felt proud that we have this kind of restaurant in Manila.

I cannot believe I have not written a review of Toyo on Google Maps, because it's hands down one of my favorite restaurants not only in Manila, but in the entire freakin world. It's also the best value in food I've ever experienced. Manila, and Makati in particular, are typically focused on flowery presentations that try to mask the lack of quality ingredients and flavor depth; this is not that place. Out of the entire coursed tasting menu, the only dish that fell flat for me was their hallmark "dirt" dish that you see photos of everywhere. I thought it was boring and tasteless. But every other dish was sensational, some of them not only fantastic but mind blowing. It helps that the first time I went here was with a local chef friend from Makati who worked at Your Local for many years, so we got extra special treatment, but even subsequent visits were just as impressive. The lugaw was my all time favorite dish; such a basic traditional "cheap" dish that was transformed into the ultimate fine dining comfort food. The place is small but comfy, modern, with a 100% open kitchen so you can watch all the action. The staff is extremely professional, and would be at home in in many of the best French Michelin-starred kitchens. To top if off, their cocktail program is stellar, with one of the best old fashioneds in the city. Reservations can be tough to get, but it's highly worth it. The cherry on top? The entire meal is around 3000-4000php per person with a large tip, depending on the amount of drinks consumed. This is of course very expensive for Manila, but crazy cheap for the amount of courses and the quality.

This bakery just baked different kind of bread. Not that extraordinary better than other bakeries. It is just very expensive. Some customers thought that if it is expensive it is very good. But not with this bakery. The pandesal is not a real pandesal. They have their own version and the spread is just ordinary. I didnโ€™t even like it. I will not recommend this bakery.

Never got a chance to eat here. We asked for a menu to see what they have. They gave it to us but told us we had to read it outside. WTF! It wasnโ€™t crowded inside. Barely anything on the menu. Only prix fixe. Decided not to eat there. Should have left the menu outside.

3/5 A place to experience new and nice taste of Pilipino. Walking in this trend restaurant, seeing all staff with style, I thought this is a nice dinner place, until they serve the very French cuisine finger foods like appetizer to start our tasting menu. Iโ€™m really not gonna list out the ingredients they have mentioned, mostly local which is what Iโ€™m expecting, but mostly I here to taste. The first three finger food already blew my mind, each have great and playful texture when you eat it, of course flavor too, some familiar and new, love it. I personally love the stuffed squid most, cooked in sweet soy to perfect texture, this is where to start like Iโ€™m hving japenese fusio dinner. Next with a three plateโ€™s appetizer, oyster with lovely seasoning, but not sure about the freshness of the oyster. Two nice vinegar maintained fish pieces, yuzy, picked cucumber, like I said nice, but not as surprising as the starter. Then is a very cute presentation chicken in 3 ways, steamed egg custard, meatball and broth. A little salty, taste nice and getting more like a Izakaya dishes tho. After a light sorbet to freshen up. The famous Philippine pork dishes, i thought Iโ€™m gonna be very happy eating this, but the flavor is flat and the meat part is actually abit dry and tough. Skin should be very crispy, yet I forgot everything about it. Eggplant pancake with banana ketchup, is getting really Izakaya bar snacks, but I enjoy this one a lot. All flavor and texture with the fried shrimp and scallion too, I need a beer. Our table choose the teriyaki and milk fish for main, both ingredients are good, cooked well, yet too much sauce, is salty. And is just very ordinary flavor, soy sauce. The rice with fried pork skin and egg yolk is actually the best of the night, great balance with flavor and perfectly cooked rice, simple yet elegant. Thereโ€™s three more desserts after we ate two, some are good, some are a little extreme for me, but overall this restaurant worth a try. My mood was builded really high up when they start serving, then it goes down and down, you didnโ€™t expect they serve that way by this environment and atmosphere, especially that chair is not good for sitting that long. Is just I think they might need to find a better balance of do they wanna be a 4 hours fine dinning restaurant or is maybe just a good dining place. Oh, forgot to mention they have really nice cocktails, remember to try. #queenbeoly_middine #foodblogger #foodporn #food #foodie #foodphotography #instafood #foodstagram #foodlover #foodgasm #yummy #delicious #QueenBeoly

Stunningly delicious. If you aren't particularly accustomed to Philipino food, this place will definitely knock you off your socks. Amazing flavors and textures done perfectly with each dish Instagram-worthy (if that's your thing). The cocktails are equally delicious, and the tasting menu has many pairings. Reserve well in advance and don't be late!

Shakshuka is a better vegetarian dish. It is a small semi fastfood with convenience store selling imported canned goods from Israel, Greece, and Turkey. Food is delicious with choice of spices. However it has no parking space, so I rate 3/5.

The resto has seen better days, it seems a bit run down, needs some repair, perhaps due to the pandemic there are financial strains on maintenance. The pictures on the walls show there has been deep understanding of lebanese cuisine and the way to present and serve meals. Not much is left. Also the original charm of the room is nearly lost, only the pictures and reviews from newspapers and magazines conjure up an atmosphere that you can hardly see and feel anymore. What is still outstanding is the variety of oriental spices and ingredients in the shelves which are displayed as in a store and which you can buy there or order through Lazada. We ordered and tried almost everything from the menu, the falafel was cold as if taken from a freezer, the salad was good, especially the tomatoes in it, which is rare in Manila. The hummus was fresh, they use high quality olive oil on top, The Turkish coffee was strong and aromatic. The cutlery and plates were very simple and did not match the pictures on the website. Prices were very fair, much lower than in BGC. Service charge is included. There is no parking in front of it so you must leave your car in the Century City Mall for 50 pesos and walk the 200 meters to the resto.

Creamy rich hummus and crispy flavourful falafel in good size portions what more could you ask for. Only had takeaway so cant comment of the service or ambiance but the preparation time for takeaway was very fast. Would 100% reccomend for any vegan/vegetarians who want a change from Philippino food.

Great Israeli restaurant serving purely vegetarian fare located in Makati Avenue in Makati City directly across Berjaya Hotel. They serve lip-smacking Hummus, Falafel, Zataar and Baklava. They also sell great selection of spices like Curry Powder, Tahini, Dried Dates, Figs and lots more. Can handle groups as they have big tables. Has WIFI and accepts all local Credit Cards. Definitely coming back soon when i get the cravings!

One of the best hummus and falafel in town. The hummus is light and airy, and well balanced with the tahini and lemon. I also love the freshly made pita and chili-coriander sauce (it packs a punch) and side salad. We ordered take out of vegan shakshuka and regular shakshuka, super yummy! Hummus Elijah lives up to its hype! Hope they open a branch in QC.

Ordered Falafel Balls for delivery to our hotel. Have had Falafel around the world including the Middle East but this was pretty ordinary; so dry you could hardly swallow it! The Hummus is a joke - so watery it was like water and no flavour. Never seen Hummus made like this. Not authentic at all despite the name and inflated prices.

We ordered chicken filet with rice around 6am. Since I have a habit of smelling the food before eating, I smell the chicken filet and it doesn't smell good. The texture is a bit hard also when you cut it. The chicken filet have an after taste. When I call the attention of the crew she said, "Ganun po tlga lasa ng chicken filet namin maam" I responded that it was my favorite food in McDonald's and doesn't taste good compare to the other branch. I heard the manager shouting. Seems like she doesn't care for the product she served to us. Thumbs down to this branch. Never again!

Dining in Toyo was a very fun learning, unique and amazing experience. All the food they've sent to our table was prepared meticulously, all the ingredients were produced locally, and was carefully chosen in different corners of the Philippines to create an amazing and delicious work of art dish. The ambiance was chill and relaxed. Our server, "A.M." was such an amazing person. She was well-informed with Toyo's menu from where the ingredients came from, how it was cooked and which dish to eat first to complement the next dish. Kudos to the entire team of Toyo Eatery. Highly recommended. And, will surely be back. This time, for their ala carte menu, and their highly suggested Saturday breakfast which Kuya Bogs (Kuya โ€œBogsโ€ - I am not sure if I heard the name right. A totally Filipino gastronomical experience, tasting the best local ingredients highlighted in each dish. I appreciated how each dish has been annotated through a storyteller- which could be improved if they made a main storyline across the dishes. Nonetheless, the flavours of each dish was enriched through the narration of what ingredient and where it is from.
