Wow what a gift of nature. Our entrance into the park was graced with the sight of a python unfortunately no longer alive. Apparently the areas surrounding this man made dam is very much a habitat for all sorts of animals and insects. Gosh I can't count how many different types of butterflies we came across but most breathtaking is just the stillness that allows you become on with nature's musical background. There are opportunities to make this a proper tourist attraction like offering guided walks around the place held by locals from surrounding communities. Lovely place to go

This is a beautiful gift of nature to humanity. amazing scenery, it is a wonderful place for romantic getaway as the place is always isolated cos of its location. There is presence of NSCDC men on ground to question and direct tourists. Beautiful mountains surrounded the dam and just wonderful. Activities there include canoe ride, fishing and hiking. You may want to wear bright and all covered up for the presence of tse-tse fly. You should come with edibles too, nothing is sold at the dam.

Absolutely beautiful scenery. It's a beautiful place to be. This is my second visit and I love it. Also suitable for family picnic as that's what we did during this Easter holiday and I enjoyed it.

Lower Usuma Dam is serene ecosystem that offers breathtaking views. Located in Bwari area council of the FCT, it is home to the Water aboard treatment plant. It is the source of pipe borne water serving Abuja metropolis. The surrounding hills are amazing spots for hiking πŸ₯Ύ and picnics. Fishing activities also take place there.

I had a good time hiking around this facility. I will definitely recommend for family and group activities. On the other side, more can be done to improve the tourism effect at this facility. Strategic structures and services can be built and offered.

Usuma dam was created in 1987, the dam was built across the Usuma river. It is managed by FCT water board for the production of portable consumed all around the capital. It is not a hydroelectric dam however it is a very popular yet unofficial tourist location. It is surrounded by many beautiful rocks, it has a waterfall where the dam pours in ( I’ll visit the waterfalls and share pictures when I do). It is a beautiful sight to behold, it is also visible from aircrafts when you’re flying into Abuja from most destinations including Lagos and Edo State. I have visited this place over a 100 times and always open and eager to experience this location again and again with whoever is interested.

A very beautiful tourist attraction however it is not open to the public. Advised to get pre clearance for access. The untouched nature and serenity was one for the books and worthwhile for all nature lovers. An ideal place for excursions and adventures. Only down side is it not being accessible.

Usuma Lower Dam is a non flowing facility which supplies water for treatment and distribution for Abuja municipality. The dam is located in Ushafa village between a few hills. It is being operated by the FCT. Permission is required to gain access to the area and it's being guarded by uniformed security. Control channels and distribution patterns are well constructed to regulate the level and flow of water during the rainy and dry season. Swimming is highly prohibited within the dam.

One of Federal Capital Territory favorite Tourist attaraction. Lower Usuma Dam is located in Ushafa of Bwari Area council. The serene is fantastic, beautiful surrouding, lovely abundance of nature to behold, sights and sounds of the birds chirping, let the breeze streak all around you and reinvigorate your mind, lovely mountains to have a view from the top, the breathetaking trees to warm your hearts, the river side is good for sit-out, hosting small get-together with friends, fun-seekers. It's an amazing place for groups hangout, family pick nicks, kids playground and fun-loving hikers, lovers meeting hot spot, school reunion. When next you're visiting Abuja, dont forget to drive down to Ushafa Bwari with your fruit baskets, loaded food coolers, Champagne, wines, bottled water, sneekers, camera, and have a wonderful experience of the amazing Usuma Lower Dam.

Only a three star because our safety felt threatened with the presence of fully armed men demanding bribes. They did not hurt us but we were surprised by how they treated us and some other visitors. This place is very beautiful but as is the usual with unique places like this in Nigeria, the government needs to do better to maintain and support such locations.

Loved this lake. Swam in it as a True Nigerian would swim. Has lots of water, something most lakes needπŸͺ²

An awesome place. The breeze blows cold and sweet. Though it's polluted with plastic bottles at the banks 😩

The dam is a little wonder in the capital city because it has a peaceful and quiet setting, with an amazing view of mountains, waters and hillsides. If you are looking for an opportunity to get closer to your sweetheart and express your feelings, you should take her to the Lower Usuman Dam. It is an excellent spot to find romance and probably, steal a kiss or two.

First you might have to pay a fee to gain access especially when visiting in groups, from them on its a beautiful hike to the top of the dam. There is a guide to educate you about the dam and show you around. If not you might find young local tour guides who have mastered the terrain, after the long dam walk you get to climb the mountain, its an easy climb cause it has stairs constructed on the side to aid climbing. Once at the top you get a great view of the dam and it's surrounding, the villages below and the fishermen with their canoes at the bank of the river which is on the other side of the mountain, you can hike down to the bank and get on canoe rides provided the water levels are favourable because they do not have life jackets. Finally make sure you do not litter the area.

A trousit site for Kubwa, Dutse, and Bwari residents in the Federal Capital Territory especially during the high temperature season. However, management of the dam need to explore the opportunities the dam offers even if it means charging token to provide boat rides and other water sports to spice up fun

Quite a serene place. There are lots of Engineering processes involved in the water reticulation there, from raw open water sources to overflow control, water processing, pressure regulations, a large grid tied solar farm and office complexes

This is a man-made dam and an integral part of the day to day activities of the people of in the neighboring communities as it is the source of water for irrigation, fishery and other daily essentials. This is a very safe location, lovely view and a great location for hike. Before heading to Usman Dam, here are some helpful things to take along with you: Sun protectors β€’Rugged boots, hand gloves to avoid blisters while climbing, sun shades if you visit on a sunny day. Camera to capture the adventures of the day and lovely sights Picnic food, energy bars and enough water.

It's an awesome arrangement of nature: lowland, hills, a surrounding water with a mountain. More beautiful during the rainy season.
