The reservoir is used to generate electrical power in Nigeria. The closest village to the reservoir is Fakun which consists of people who major occupation is fishing. The most popular town close to the dam is New-Bussa: named so as the old town of Bussa was said to be located where the town is presently, is about 20km free this hydropower generation office. New-Bussa is also called Kainji, it serves as the residential area to many people, the system of government there is the monarchy system, the leader of the people is called the Emir. Kainji has lots of hotels and beautiful places. Other towns around the dam includes Sabon pegi, Nassarawa, dongogari, wawa

I don't hate the place, it's just that the Nigerian government did what they know how to do best, kill and then sell it out to foreigners

I worked for many years as a power generation man, starting from the hydroelectric facility located in jebba- a sister town and about a hundred and thirty-five kilometers apart, or so they seem.
