This is a great place for groups and also intimate dates. It's a spacious area with a cozy vibe. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I came here with 3 friends and we all enjoyed our food. Perfect portion sizes. It's a bit on the pricey side, but given everything I mentioned, it's worth it.

Great spot to try out some delicious food that’s unique along with a great ambiance. Came here with a large group for restaurant week so got to try out a few options. The service was great but the eggplant pasta is what stood out to me. Would highly recommend this place for a date night or grabbing a few drinks with friends and family. Looking forward to coming back again in the near future!

It is a really nice restaurant with a lot of tables. We came on Saturday night, and it was pleasantly busy. The waitress was super nice. The food was good, but I felt like the vegetable dishes were extremely small. I ordered the fish with two sides, and it came with a tiny piece of fennel and mostly onion for $36. The beetroot dish was also very small for $19. We were recommended to order bread . I didn’t want to fill up with bread.

Superb! The garlic bread is amazing. We did the tasting menu which included 8 dishes in 4 courses. We had 2 vegetable dishes, 2 pasta dishes, meatballs, cod, polenta, and dessert. Every dish was flavorful and carefully thought out for a perfect bite. The desert was also amazing, definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night or small group gathering. The restaurant actually has 2 sections inside so there seemed to be a decent amount of seating/capacity but it’s popular so I recommend a reservation. We have passed by this restaurant many times and didn’t even realize we have been missing out. Will definitely go back.

We had a fantastic meal here. From the butter to the mains, everything was fantastic. Pasta dishes were deeply satisfying. The pricing to quantity ratio was a little off. $17 for four small carrots seems unnecessarily and somewhat insultingly petite. That said, the atmosphere was cozy, not too loud with friendly service. Would return.

Four years ago I came here for brunch and it was meh, I gave it 3 stars. Recently I can back for dinner and had a much better experience. The food was simple but good and I really enjoyed myself. The servers and atmosphere were all great. I would recommend it for a casual dinner. I wonder if I should give the brunch another go, or if it’s more of a dinner place.

Really enjoyed the tasting menu at Hearth - the food was excellent even though a couple of dishes (e.g. the fava bean soup) were average. The dessert was my favorite part of the tasting menu, followed by the wild tilefish. Although a bit expensive, the food is great and definitely worth a visit!

My fiance surprised me with a tasting menu dinner at Hearth for my Christmas present. The decor and ambiance were welcoming and tastefully done. The waitstaff was absolutely friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Eric, our server, was thorough in explaining the various wine pairings that came along with each of the courses. The food was delicious, artfully prepared, and effused the love that went into preparing it! I had an amazing time and, as a foodie, truly appreciated this opportunity to enjoy a wonderful meal!

Had one of the most amazing meals of my life here! 100% the best meatball of my life!! Came in a couple weeks I'll go with my boyfriend for dinner during restaurant week. Everything was excellent! Loved the warm crispy crust on the olive oil cake and the bottle of white wine from the Canary Islands!! Our server was great. We had a really nice conversation with the manager or food runner at the end of our meal to top off a perfect evening. I will definitely return when I'm back in NYC.

I wanted to like it so much more… Ambiance was lovely. The food was pretty good, but not great. The service was bad. Really slow. Seemed like 1-2 servers MAX were working the entire restaurant (including outdoor dining) on a bustling Friday night. Took 30 minutes to get a server to come by just to take our drink order. Food came out slowly too. Alas, they were busy and seemingly to busy for us. 5 star atmosphere. 4 star food. 2 star service. I’d give them 4 stars if they could fix the issues we had.

Wow!!! AMAZING place. From the service (Laura is fantastic and energetic), to the organic- sustainable food menu and wine pairings (don’t expect your traditional wine pairings), and ambiance, this place has EVERYTHING to make a Friday night be worthwhile. Phenomenal recommendation from a colleague that is a Sommelier. This is a keeper.

gorgeous Italian restaurant cooked with health-conscious ingredients, results in mouthful of fragrant flavors. open kitchen format feels inviting. the back room (shaped like a narrow alley) provides more intimate dining experience, while the main dining room feels more like a living room with lots air and space. a shared appetizer + an entree + a drink + a shared dessert could go easily south of $100 per person for two people. worth every single dollar.

Went for the first time this weekend and I was so impressed by the quality of the food in this place. Is hard to find healthy and delicious restaurants but this one is cozy, healthy and extremely delicious. The staff was very nice and kind. They follow CDC protocols and will def go back soon to try more dishes.

We lived in the East Village for 6 weeks in the Fall of 2019. One our first night eight of us enjoyed the tasting menu -- and the wine pairings. The food and the wine were creative and delicious. Five weeks later, two of us returned to Hearth. The woman who served us the tasting menu not only remembered us, she remembered what we liked to drink! Were were served another beautiful meal -- including two amuse bouche.

I listened to the podcast with David Chang & Marco Canora where they talked about a bunch of stuff, including a reminder about Hearth. I made the reservation on the spot and man did it work out. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our waitress was enthusiastic and informed, which always makes for a great experience. We drank a bunch of wine and did the off-menu tasting. Everything was delicious, standouts were the meatballs and the pasta dishes. Good reminder that this place has been here for a while and there is a reason why it has become a staple in New York City, which is not easy.

Wonderful meal with amazing service. Must try the gnocchi which are (as cliche as it sounds) like eating pillows. Also enjoyed the burrata, shelling beans and Japanese sweet potato.

Booked this place for a private dining experience for my execs, I did a set menu and actually booked last minute so the events manager was so flexible and kind! Within ten minutes, the execs were so happy with the food- by the end of the meal everyone was in a satisfied food coma. The dishes are well crafted and full of flavor and the private dining room is perfect size. Perfect for a group dinner! Will definitely book again if we’re in NYC :)

Went here for restaurant week! Our server Nigel was very kind and informed. The food was delicious - well thought out, portioned, balanced, creative, etc. Maybe the pizzocheri was a bit too heavy? But that could be subjective. Highly recommend the olive oil cake and the fish. Thank you for the lovely experience!

What a special place! I am not sure where to start but you can’t go wrong with the food. At all. Across the board. The wait staff can guide you if you aren’t commanding on your own. Signature: steak! Garlic bread! Fava bean salad, ramps, hens of the wood, and the extras -/ vesper, vino, dessert!!!! The place: beet graffiti, and plants cared for deeply. Both bars :) and all the little corner photo ops. The people — collaborating proudly to deliver the finest the village has to offer. Lovely romantic neighborhood vibe.

I am going with three stars - it was actually a pretty good experience, but some of the members of our party really didn’t enjoy their meal - the burger and fish in particular. It’s a nice restaurant, but very pricey for what’s on the table. The service was just okay. Overall decent but not great.

I have been wanting to come to this restaurant for a long time as I live in the neighborhood. I came here on a Thursday night at for a 7pm reservation with two other people that I made on the same day through Resy. The vibe of the restaurant was lovely; very warm and inviting. Our server was very nice but really wasn’t very present after our initial meeting and ordering of our entrees. I had the buckwheat pizzocheri which I thought was incredible and one of the most delicious things I’ve had in a while. Our friend has the beef & ricotta meatballs which were also very good. My husband ordered the brisket which is not normally on the menu and was flavorful but also very fatty/chewy to the point that he sent it back. The manager who we notified of the dish was very kind, professional, and honest. She recommend he get a different dish and they comped the initial order. I would go back and I would recommend.

We came to Hearth for a Valentine's Day fixed menu and it did not disappoint! I'm gluten free and avoid seed oils, and this came up on that niche search. Amazing atmosphere, kind service, and the most incredible dishes. We'll be coming back.

I came here for my birthday dinner last night and the food and drinks were foodie worthy. I had one of the pasta dishes and several cocktails which were absolutely delightful. Our server was also fantastic but I feel like she could have had more support. We finished our water and drinks and no one came to ask if we wanted more; with lots of wait staff buzzing around no one noticed all of our glasses were empty for about 20 minutes which I feel was a missed opportunity for the restaurant and also for us. I still give this gem a 5/5 and hope that the team can rally together to give guests the best experience possible.

SCORE!!! A wonderful pandemic brunch!!! Several tables outside on a beautiful day! I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, which, believe it or not was NOTHING like it sounded and I will probably never order that in a deli or diner again because NOTHING will compare to what went into my stomach today. My daughter inhaled the fried chicken sandwich. Awesome local/LI IPA. The waitress could not have been kinder, sweeter or more attentive. Can’t wait to return for dinner soon!!! Thank you Hearth!!❤️❤️

Prompt, thorough and personable service. Warm and cozy atmosphere perfectly befitting a chilly January evening. Expansive and reasonable wine list - the Gamay we ordered was great. Rabbit was cooked to perfection. Restaurant Week menu, which my husband went with, was of excellent value especially compared to most participants ($39 vs the typical $59 for high end restaurants). You can see why it has been around since 03!

Outstanding experience, dining out (literally outside) with friends. Our group ordered all food items on the menu including appetizers, sides, and desserts. They were all varying degrees of excellent. Cocktails were superior, and the wine list was well curated. The outdoor space was well heated and protected from wind, while still being open and airy. And last but definitely not least, especially in outdoor settings, service was caring and attentive. There was no point where we were *waiting* for anything or anyone. In short, best tasting menu experience without the faff, and for far less a typical tasting menu place. Highly, highly recommended.

Super relaxing place, and my food was delicious. I also ordered some garlic bread, which was very interesting. It was more charred than what i'm used to, and it had a very strong flavor to it. It was good, though. Had a very warm atmosphere that will appeal to maximalists like me. Really awesome place to relax and eat a hearty meal on a cold winter day.

I was trying to find a quiet place for Thanksgiving dinner in New York - maybe that is impossible? The front reception area was packed with people - it was not my idea of a relaxing Thanksgiving. Maybe don't overbook so much? Service was gracious considering the mob. I would rather enjoy this restaurant on a quiet evening. Food was good to excellent - my favorite dish was the salad.

James Beard Award Winning...what else I gotta say? If you like wine, they have a beautiful selection. If your friends are carnivores, they have a 48 oz steak option. But believe me: trust the drink menu, don't deviate. Have fun ✌🏿

Went with dinner with my boyfriend before the opera. Not a vegetarian but tend to lean towards the diet and was so impressed with the mushrooms, the gluten free bread and the sugar snap peas. We had a wonderful experience here. The room is beautiful and well put together. Our servers were friendly and straightforward. Cocktail list was inspired and we enjoyed a good round. We appreciated the sommelier to navigate the extensive wine list and landed a wonderful bottle with a grape varietal we’d never tried. Food was all excellent as well. Shout out to the meat balls!

Great place!! The quality of the food is outstanding and its cooked with care. Our waitress was lots of fun and happy to explain the menu and give recommendations. The wine list was long and they had a very good selection of wine by the glass on the board. Give it a try, I loved it!

Very wholesome food. Particularly enjoyed the quail and the garlic bread. The service was a bit inconsistent. Our hostess seemed a little aloof and was not the most helpful when explaining the tasting menu. Other than that, the food + drink + atmosphere were memorable. Would recommend the full tasting menu

This is a small, cozy little restaurant in the East Village that has a very warm ambience and a nice decor. The menu is very Tuscan and rustic. They focus a lot on ingredients and it’s very vegetable-forward menu. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was very crowded, so I took of us a very long time to sit down and we generally found the service a bit slow. The staff was very busy so it was hard to order and get things when we needed it. When the food arrived, I found the flavor combinations were not as good as I expected. I ordered the duck liver pate on bread as the appetizer, and the ingredients they combine together ended up making the liver taste very funky. We also ordered the burger without the bun, the sunchokes, the Japanese sweet potatoes, and a side of the beans with pesto. Overall, the dishes were a bit heavy and over salted, but the one thing I really enjoyed was a side dish of the beans with pesto.

Family-style menu. My favorite of the night was definitely the two-bite s’more!! Overall, food was good and even adventurous (the beef burger was made of 5 distinct parts including bone marrow and liver), the servers were attentive and there’s a lot of room in the restaurant. Solid choice for a night out.

My experience at Hearth was nice , I particularly loved the wild cod ! The chicken and the gnocchi were a bit underwhelming . Wine was great the restaurant it self was very rustic and homey . Probably not the best choice for a work function as there is a open kitchen right aside from the dinning space . Would return if I was in the east village !

Went here for Saturday brunch. Staff was extremely friendly and the food was tasty. The food and drinks came out in a weird order and a couple items took longer than the rest of the table’s order, so took a star off. We had a table at 8:45 and waited a good hour on a pasta and meatball dish. They ran out on the dished I would have liked to order, so make sure you come early. The meatball plate only had two (!!) meatballs in it and my husband was still hungry afterwards. My pasta was bland and overpriced for what it was. On a positive note, the garlic bread was delicious and the walnut cake as well (also small portion). Service was ok. Atmosphere was nice, bit too noisy. Probably not going back.

For a "upscale" establishment that is completely inaccurate. Aside from the unwelcoming of the host and poor server. The food was subsubpar. Meatballs cold and dry- similar to defrosted meatballs. Pasta that was trying to be aldente, but failed to sit in the boiling water and had a texture as if it literally came out of the bag- firm and uncooked. Pork chops that were chewy and tough to break down and eat, probably not meant for human consumption, but for a dog as a toy to keep them busy. I have been eyeing to eat at this place as it has had good reviews and the ambiance is beyond warm and inviting. Unfortunately, that is the only kind thing I can say about our visit. Beyond disappointing and would not recommend, well maybe if you want a bad meal. .

How can any restaurant mess up “brunch?” The simple act of a few good egg dishes. Hearth is “The Blue Ribbon Winner” for the worst brunch I’ve ever had. I ordered the vegetable frittata-a staple in most Italian families so perhaps I am a bit more discerning than most. When it arrived, my friend actually gasped and said “that is what you charge 17.00 for?” It was barely a sliver of the most dry, tasteless frittata I’ve ever had. It was garnished with 2 soggy lettuce leaves and served with no bread. This is what they call an upscale restaurant. Do yourself a favour-Pass on this one.
