I visited this restaurant on 10/3 with friends and family and I was truly disappointed in my visit. They have a limited menu which I could accept but only two appetizer options and two entree options is ridiculous, coupled with the fact that they offer NO dessert options whatsoever, not even vanilla ice cream! They have a plethora of alcoholic drink items which were offered though (go figure) and we’re not worth the$15-$18 price tag per drink. You must have a reservation to dine here but then only minuscule options for food, it’s ridiculous! The one and only pro of this visit is that the decor is beautiful as well as the views and that deserves the only star I’ve given. Upon reading, I’ve learned that the original executive chef and owner who opened this restaurant in 2017, Kwame Onwuachi, is no longer involved with the restaurant as of July 2020 and also that the pastry chef there, Paola Velez, had left the establishment just days before him and this greatly explains the lack of authentic Jamaican cuisine and no dessert offerings. The restaurant is currently under control by the Intercontinental hotel group and it clearly showed. This food was late night room service food at its best and a complete charade at its worse. The jerk wing appetizer are wings drenched in barbecue sauce with a hint of Jamaican spice. All of the dishes offered are watered downed, whitewashed versions of Jamaican/Afro Caribbean cuisine. I had a cheeseburger and French fries which was not on the menu but was informed by my waiter that they had as an offering also. It was good but not what I traveled to Kith/Kin for; I wanted braised oxtails, the curried goat and other offerings which they still advertise as having on certain web pages. There are tons of other restaurants in the surrounding area that I will give a try but I will never recommend this place to anyone.

After reading all the reviews- we just HAD to try this restaurant. The dishes were creative and we had nice service. The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly. I wasn't too impressed with my shrimp- tasted like shrimp versus a dish with shrimp in it. My husband had the roasted jerk chicken dish. We both shared the rum cake- for those who like rum, this is the dessert for you. My absolute favorite part, which ironically was the complimentary part, was the fresh baked sweet bread. Good place to try on the warf, I'm glad we went, but I'm not in a hurry to return.

I went there with a couple of friends and ordered a lot of food (see pictures) we loved everything! The service was outstanding, but the food spoke for itself. I can’t remember the name of most of the stuff, but I can tell u you can’t go wrong! On the desert side we had a carrot pie that was Devine’s and so was the rum cake. The portions are generous for fancy dining but the taste was just the rave. My husband and I will definitely come back!

Kith and Kin was absolutely phenomenal in every aspect you can have in a dinning experience. The food was incredible very memorable. Our waitress Lulu was the sweetest, she was so helpful with the menu and suggestions. The ambiance at kith and kin is great. They have ceiling to floor windows which can fully open to the point where you are basically sitting outside, these windows stretch the length of the restaurant, along with the skylight. The natural light makes you feel happier(scientifically proven) plus dark restaurants are just not as inviting. I love the classy feel you get when going into this restaurant the black and gold theme running through the restaurant looks very nice. In totality this has been one of my best dinning experiences in DC.

Amazing dining experience here with some friends in town for the weekend. We loved the ambiance and great food. We circled this place for dinner because of Chef Kwame's James Beard rising star award. This place did not disappoint. We ordered the Kin burger, chicken wings, brussel sprouts, and the soft shell crab. Wow everything was delicious and we wanted more. The crab had to be the highlight. We literally ate everything in the bowl. The craft cocktails were also delicious. Food here can be a bit heavy, but satisfying at the same time. My party and I enjoyed everything about our meal. We'll definitely be back to try their brunch and other dinner menu items

We had an amazing culinary experience here! Due to all seating being reserved, we had to sit at the Hennesy Bar near the hotel lobby, but it was quaint and intimate. Demetrius was our server and mixologist, and he was so attentive, knowledgeable, and personable! The food was beyond amazing!!! We will definitely be back!

The atmosphere was nice. Relaxed but still upscale. Service was excellent. Our waitress, Lulu, was attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. We tried the Brussels which were spicy but flavorful to me. And Mom Dukes Shrimp with buttered rice. This dish had too much butter for my liking and the gravy that’s paired with the dish was too salty and had too much butter or grease as well. Lastly, we had the bread pudding for dessert. It wasn’t too sweet, that was the best part.

A little pricey but delicious. I was told the dishes are for sharing but they made decent single portions. There is a whole fried snapper that is huge and definitely a shareable meal. I had the jerk trout and my friend had the braised oxtails. I have never had oxtail in life and didn't know what to expect but these were delicious. Don't forget to get the buns! They come with your meal and are amazing. Similar to Hawaiian rolls. Taking away one star because my first plate had a hair and the environment is a bit pretentious.

I'm a member of a men's book club. We read Chef Kwame's memoir and decided to meet at his restaurant to discuss his book. It's a nice restaurant, service was good. I read a lot of good reviews about the Ethiopian Hot Chicken Sandwich, so that's what I ordered. Other members ordered the Ox Tails, Brussels Sprouts, and Jerk Chicken. The sandwich was very good, but very greasy. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well. I'd recommend it and I would visit again.

Unfortunately I missed the lunch and was too early for dinner BUT I had a chance to sit in the lounge and have cocktails. I was very impressed with both drinks starting with a glass of Spanish sparkling wine followed by the all popular Kingstontown punch--pretty and good. The food items were amazing small plates of heaven!! The grilled octopus with red lentils have a nice spicy kick and the mushroom patties are like little pockets of goodness. I hope to visit again starting at the lounge but staying for dinner too. 🤞🏿

Really nice ambiance and atmosphere, pretty pricey but the drinks were 'Awesome' ( we had cosmos with Tito vodka recommended by our host). Our host Damien'was very helpful and pleasant with conversation. The food menu is extremely limited and pricey but we were told they will be remodeling in Oct so they may have more additions to the food selections, which I hope. For now, I plan to eat elsewhere and come here for the nitecap'🍸🍷

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our lunch at Kith and Kin! We had the Brussels sprouts, burger, and meat pies. The brussels were absolutely delightful, very spicy and crispy with a creamy sauce on the side. The burger was very good, as were the meat pies. The service was great. The only reason I’m taking off one star is because it is a little pricey for what you get. Also the atmosphere is fine, but nothing special.

Beautiful interior and delicious Afro-Caribbean cuisine on the wharf. We went for breakfast. Options were slightly limited. Food took a little while (15 minutes) for being simple breakfast items. I went with the Buffet which was delicious: lots of bacon, sausage, eggs, and baked goods. Best part was the sunny side up eggs in a skillet with spicy tomato sauce. The chef gave me an incredible in-house habanero sauce to spice it up a little more. Servers were attentive and friendly. Docked a star for trouble we had adding a seventh person to our reservation (we were initially told they couldn’t do it via phone, never heard back via email, and were given hard time when we showed up and asked for an extra chair. Strange considering how empty the restaurant was in the morning). Overall: good experience and good food in a beautiful venue.

Very nice place and great atmosphere. Liked the food but I have had better from various mom and pop spots around the DMV for far less. If you are looking for a nice night out then it is worth it. We ate the Mushroom patties, goat roti, oxtail, and plantains. Would recommend them all.

I celebrated my birthday here on a Saturday evening. We had an outdoor dining reservation given Covid-19. It was a chilly evening. I couldn't believe that they didn't have outdoor heaters in place so that patrons can eat in comfort. The food was delicious. 4 stars.

  • 1/5 Rochelle B. 3 years ago on Google • 20 reviews
So far, the customer service, the wait even with a reservation, plus only 2 menu options makes this visit a fail. Hopefully the entree makes up for it whenever it comes. We made an outdoor reservation but told we have to wait 45 min. Instead, we are in a hot room sweating with masks on watching everyone else enjoy the outdoor seating. Update: Ordered the jerk chicken. Completely OVERATED! It was just okay. I'll come back after COVID when the full menu is available and try again. For now, we are going next door to get some really good food we can take home!

Food was good, ambience great. Smaller food selection due to the pandemic which understandable. Excellent in serving us to ensure health safety. Can't wait to go back when life gets back to normal, new normal.

Truly incrEDIBLE! My girlfriend took me here for my birthday because I love strong flavors and authentic cultural foods. Let me tell you, the spicy goat took me on a journey!! We had yummy cocktails, Brussels sprouts, goat, and the roast chicken platter, I think! We ended up completely stuffed because it was all too delicious not to finish. Service was pretty good for a busy night and the atmosphere was wonderful. Thanks!

Delicious take on southern food. Enjoyed all of the small menu that simplify choices and ensures quick turnaround - in the time of social distancing, they ask you to stay about 1 hour. Especially tasty the chicken wings and thr jerk kin bowl, but I'll have the curry bowl again too! Surprisingly moderata price for food; the fresh summery drinks, enjoyed the Chef's cocktail, in line with hotel bar prices, as the restaurant is in the Intercontinental) Great social distancing practices: seating outdoor or semi indoor (open walls) well spaced, all staff wearing masks, and you pick your own silverware, napkin, and food from the tray.

I am giving this a 3 star rating because the head chef Kwame is no longer there. The food and drinks were good, don't get me wrong but it had a different feeling for me knowing the head chef is not Kwame and potentially not a POC.

Food and drinks are very good. Most places can not pull off Caribbean and African spice. The chef does a masterful job of fusion. Everything that we have had was extremely flavourful.

  • 4/5 Adrienne S. 4 years ago on Google
The food was incredibly delicious. The drink was not overpowering but still refreshing. I like that the servers explain the menu for people who have never eaten at the restaurant, however she did not check on our table to see if we needed anything after our food was delivered.

By far the best service ever! Every employee we came across went above and beyond. We even asked two different people to take pictures of us and they were so patient and made sure we were happy with the shots, one guy even showed us how to edit our pics! But to the food..... some of the best oxtails I ever had! They were fall off the bone soft and seasoned so well that I didn’t need hot sauce lol my friends got the shrimp dish and the jerk chicken and they were both happy with their choice! We didn’t get dessert but it looked so good!

The staff here are like no other there intuitive and ready for any answer you have for staff to know where they get the food is out of this world. The food here is fresh vibrant and a taste of home or better... Love this place!!!

False information, this is not a black owned restaurant

  • 1/5 Amanda B. 3 years ago on Google
If I could give this place zero stars I would , they discriminate against black people based off of what you look like. Me and my friend arrived at 7:27 the host took our name and said it would be a 30-45 minute wait . We walked around for an hour and came back and asked and she said we were the next group of 2. Then I heard her call another group of 2 . She then when we approached her said she would call us when the table was ready. Unprofessional and never again do not come here! It is now 9:30 and they close at 9:30 and they still have not called or texted us. We left and went somewhere else with better service

Absolutely amazing food. My friends and I went there for a birthday dinner 2 weeks ago and we were so very pleasantly surprised! The brussels sprouts and oxtails were to die for and everything else we had was delicious too. And to top it off, the chef came to greet us at our table before we ordered our food, which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Food is amazing and the breakfast waffles are the best. They usually have a breakfast buffet in the morning not during this time of course, but the buffet is great. The only thing is they don't have a lot of a variety and you have to ask for the waffles, pancakes and coffee, then they bring it to your table. But I definitely love this place and I recommend it.

You ever had a last minute emergency where you had to adjust plans? Well, yes this happened to me right on the brink of the Pandemic March 8th 2020, plans had to change swiftly for my family and friends and Kith/Kin welcomed 12 guest and exceeded all our expectations. I am very Grateful and couldn’t have had the best birthday without their commitment to customer satisfaction. I own a business and many of my friends who joined me do so as well and we all raved about our experience. Three Things That I Loved: - Julie/Julia the manager was so accommodating she even called me from her phone to ensure everything would run smoothly. I had a terrible experience before due to a waiters/servers service for my birthday a year prior. I decided to give them another chance. - When I arrived they new my name, had the space ready and my event planner was able to decorate the table. See photos! It was perfect for my guest and I. - The food and drinks were magnificent. I could have ate so much more but I took it home instead. Still dreaming of Brussels sprouts. They allowed me to refrigerate my cake and served us after our meal was over at a very low price for cake cutting. This was honestly one of the best birthday celebrations I had in a very long time! While they are closed currently due to the pandemic, I pray that they are able to come out of this serving the community as well as they do. Thank you Kith/Kin, wishing you and the staff well!

August 2019, I visited Kith and Kin for the first time and was BLOWN AWAY! The introduction the waiter gave, the atmosphere, the service, the food, the wine... IMPECCABLE! I am vegetarian, so I was happy to see a few options to choose from. The brussel sprouts, amazing. I was SOLD once coco bread was offered as the complimentary starter. In fine dining, I've never experienced that, and I was impressed. Located inside the Wharf DC Intercontinental hotel, the restaurant gives you amazing city views without the city noise, set in the heart of it all. and the BEST part is, it's black owned!

The food was rich and delicious, a very satisfying and enjoyable meal. The staff was warm and very helpful. The patrons were eager to discuss their meals and shared their impressions and suggestions. It seemed as if everyone need me were people who enjoy food and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The crudo was delicate with enough spice to make it sexy. The jollof was served with a very unctuous short rib and roti skin. While I am accustomed to being served a huge plate of jollof, this was a manageable portion which was sufficient for a great meal. The rum cake, served warm, was very good. The specialty gin and tonic was great and two will get you where you want to be.

Had the jerk wings and the burger with fries. The wings were delicious and not spicy at all. There is honey in the glaze so it had a hint of sweetness. For me jerk is spicy, but I didn't miss the spice. They were soooooooo flavorful and tender #Winner. The burger was juicy and had flavor. Got the sauce on the side and used it as an dipping sauce for the waffle fries. A friend said we had to try the rolls they didn't disappoint. Someone walked by and asked how were the rolls bc he saw them glistening from across the room. I told him that was the melted butter he saw glistening calling his name lololol. He said next visit he will dinner so he can try the rolls. Overall the space, staff, and food where great. We will definitely go back. #TopChefWorthy

I had heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try. Happened to be in the area so we stopped there for lunch. It’s a nice little place, and it wasn’t easy to find parking during rush hour. I have to say the food was really good, and so was the service. The place itself though, nothing extraordinary. They can do a little better job maintaining the restrooms clean too. Not exactly what you expect on a nice restaurant. Overall though, it’s a nice place. Will have to go try some of their dinner dishes. Like I said, the food quality seemed pretty good.

Love BB's! I've passed this place hundreds of times, and I am disappointed it took me so long to check it out. I've now been twice in 3 weeks or so, and it's my new favorite place. They have a great wine list and full bar (half off bottles of wine on Mondays!) Everything I've tried is fantastic! We had their duck confit (amazing), white truffle pizza (which is vegan but we added chicken), their pork tenderloin and several desserts. All so good!

From the opening party to a recent off-hour bb's has never failed to be anything but a world class bistro. This place was a good find while exploring the city. Had brunch here on a weekend and it was full (granted the restaurant was seating every other table). Bottomless mimosas til 2p. Fried tomato was great, the duck dumpling was unexpected but delicious. The truffle pizza was amazing, best pizza in Jacksonville. Overall food is really good, came back here a second time to try their dinner menu out.

A little pricey. But food is good if you can spend over 29 dollars for a 1 course meal you'll love this place..

A little late but food was awesome!!! Staff was awseome, clean and attentive! Can't Wait to come back. Please try them if you are in the area. If you're not in the area try them anyways lol. You will NOT be disappointed. The hotel that is connected to it is also very very nice.

The food was fantastic but unfortunately my service was terrible, we were continuously ignored/barely paid attention to on the patio which was lovely otherwise. I highly recommend eating here, I hope that having a reservation might result in better service, not that that should mean better service but something has to give on a Saturday afternoon during a time that they were becoming less busy.
