Sunday crowd is better than the normal day. Jonker Walk is a must to complete your Melaka trip. Do enjoy the fantastic authentic nyonya food here. Definitely, I will come back again....

A coworker whose hometown is Melaka strongly recommended me to visit Jonker street during my trip. Yes, she was right. It goes without saying, please feel the active street. It is a must visit area of Melaka. You can enjoy the nightlife with street food, souvenirs, bars, restaurants. Very crowded place at night. Enjoy.

Nice rustic street with an alluring historical charm. Place was buzzing with activities on a weekend due to the night market. Walking down memory lane, its always fun exploring this part of Melaka town with all the old buildings still intact. Gets crowded during weekends and public holidays as this is quite a popular spot for locals and tourist alike.

Malacca is a core accommodation area with convenient transportation, friendly prices, and many B&B options. Although the overall appearance and building structure are old, the B&B owner is still very good in terms of accommodation conditions. The roads extend in all directions, and pedestrians and traffic flow on the same road. Those with reliable driving skills can drive more carefully, while those with average driving skills should try to be more respectful.

Apart from being very sunny, crowded and hot, everything is fine. I really like the atmosphere here.

Jonker Street, full name: Jonker Walk, Malacca (English: Jonker Walk) The original meaning of Jonker Street is derived from the Hokkien "street street" because as early as 600 years ago, Zheng He, the famous diplomatic envoy of the Ming Dynasty in China, set up an "official factory" there during his seven voyages to the ocean and his six visits to Malacca. It also made the more than 20 surrounding streets and lanes with Jonker Street as the main trunk become the earliest concentrated settlement area for Chinese immigrants to Southeast Asia at that time. There are many shops to visit, selling clothes, snacks, toys, etc., and there are also some specialty stores. The buildings are very beautiful, a bit like Taiwan's Hongmao City + Daxi Old Street.

I would have rated it 5 stars if all the restaurants and cafes were opened. It's really dissapointing to find 95% of the outlets closed after 6.30pm. You can't expect us to have dinner at 3/4pm. 6.30 to 9.30pm is ideally meant for dinner time. There were lots of tourists walking around looking for good restaurants but unfortunately to no avail. Hard Rock cafe was opened but not really a place for kids. Perhaps the authorities should look into this. The place is amazing and such a nice place to take a stroll, please don't make it a sad town. Everyone I met said that Melaka Is dead during the weekdays but it's NOT! Tourism is 365 days a year!

Jonker street is really crowded and busy with the night market at weekends. The will stop any vehicles to go in and the locals will sell many kinds of food Night market starts at 6:00 PM until midnight. If you want to enjoy the old, ancient, authentic feel of Melaka, go earlier to take photos and immerse yourself in it. Then, you can enjoy night market.

Night Market only starts about 6pm on WEEKENDs. Super crowded and many items to see and eat. Quite an attraction. Sadly, I think street food wise, standard has dropped. Decent, but definitely no wow factor. Anyway just try since you are already there. It gets really packed around 7 to 8pm. We were here around 2pm and it was baking hot and we had to stop and went back to the hotel to rest from the heat before going back around 6.

This area is so lively at night and you can easily park at any of the parking area available, I came during the public holiday and could easily find spaces in the “open parking near jonker walk” (just search on google maps). There are many stalls and places to buy things/snacks as well as food, many activities to do like going for the river cruise, visiting the museums/church and other things (massages/drawing/etc.) Only reason I put a 4/5 is because of the amount of tricycles each playing crazy loud songs all over the place - really gives you a migraine :)

Never bored visiting this place for the last 30 years. There are a lot to explore within this old city from the 16th century! It is old but dynamic as it continues to change the faces to meet with the modern era. Love those cafe hides within the old places and hotels that transformed from the old age.

Came here during the weekdays which see lesser crowd. Many shops closed their business due to the lockdowns and the street is not as lively as it used to be. Hope in the time comes, things will improve 🙏.

Quite special compares to other ordinary night market. Very crowded even now at pandemic, follow SOP though. Long queue before you may scan your MySejahtera app and test your temperature. Make sure you keep your distance from the crowd while you walk. But not easy though cause it was really crowded. Not recommended for children and baby. Book a grab car here so that you won't have to worry about the parking or being caught in a traffic jam. Food: You may find variety local food and titbits here. Recommended: Handmade coconut biscuit. RM6 for one / RM10 for 2. Yummy. Price range: Moderate. Normal pasar malam price Service: Friendly stalls' owners Cleanliness: 3 stars Parking: Heavy traffic during night time, hard to find a parking

Although we are still battling this Covid19, we still see tourist visiting Jonker Walk including me. At least 30% shop either shut down or change owner. Wish to see this street vibrant again in near future.

Beautiful old heritage street with great style. Clean and enjoyable but in the week head out early to see the shops and enjoy on the sun before it gets too hot. Then catch them at night after sun down for a different feeling. Lovely place and well worth a visit. Parking can be a problem so coming by public transport and staying a few days is advised.

The only drawback is that the Sanshu Gong specialty shop closes too early. It would be better if it could be postponed to 8 o'clock in the evening.

It’s very hot. It’s so hot that I’m not in the mood to go shopping anymore. I’ve been looking for an air-conditioned place.

Historical and remarkable tourist point. With various of local food stalls and products. Recommended a river cruise while visiting this famous tourist point. It is crowded during weekend and public holidays especially night time.

Road is narrow , too many people Should have block certain main tourist roads for people to shop easily (without worry there’s motorcycle especially, behind you that might knock you while crossing road) !

I visited Melaka in Oct 2023 and the city were quite peaceful. No more visitor and bustling in street. You can walk around and took picture with famous history place and bought some souvenir with acceptable price. Famous place is quite close to each other and dont take more time to move.

Been a few years since my last trip here! Overall vibes pasar malam night market style with all the local food snacks you can grab here. Do note most street food opens at night.. and during the weekends only.

It was wonderful. I've read about the place in a novel and since then I've always wanted to visit here and I finally did. It's a must visit place in the whole of Malaysia.

I came here on 31st Independence Day which is a public holiday, not many cars surprisingly. Since it's Thursday, night time without the weekend night market definitely feels better. On normal days Monday-Thursday (non-public holiday), Jonker Walk night time is a quiet road as all shops close early around 8pm. A huge contrast from what you see during the weekend.

A must visit place if you are in Melacca and want to know the night life in this old town. You can find a little but busy street with stalls selling foods, drinks, and other stuffs. The atmosphere was really nice, surrounding with heritage buildings. For those who love photography, there would be some great spots to capture.

Very nice night market with lots of food and drinks, from meat to seafood is available here. But only Chinese food I guess. Non halal. But there's a lot of variety of snacks and instant coffee sold at quite cheap price, perhaps because most of the factory is from here. Very good business. Parking is easy but pack with people during weekend.

It is a beautiful chaos that offers an original experience in Malacca. During the weekend there are a lot of food carts with all kinds of weird stuff to eat, drink wear or use. There are also permanent shops here where you can buy interesting souvenirs or local delights.

Never disappoints. Go to ondeh-ondeh Uncle who is one street over from Jalan Hang Lekir, buy pure butter tarts from Christina Ee and authentic, comfortable Nyonya beaded sandals from "Color Beads" one street over from Jonker. Family owned for 3 generations with great service.

Nice environment and so many stalls with different kind of products and foods. Ice cream roll was nice and difficult to get parking as you have to park so far and walk to the the market.

Went there on Friday night and there are lots of stalls selling varieties of food, home decor, toys, desserts, etc. Some of the shops behind the stall also open. If you want to avoid the crowd, better to come here earlier. Some area pack with people especially the entrance to the middle part and the area selling the seafood. Not to be miss when you are in Malacca. I think the night market only from Fri to Sun. There are parking lots nearby. Paid RM6 for the parking fee.

Fantastic! a must do in Melaka. A lot to see, and of course eat too. All street vendors are really friendly, not a simple feat with such crowd! So hats off to them for making it such a good experience

Famous Tourist Stop. Narrow roads with pedestrians and cars. Good historical place to visit and take photos. Better go early morning so can take more photos without people at background.

Loved the durian cendol in 三叔公, also there is so many souvenir stores and bakery/pastry shops there. Definitely recommend to visit Jonker Walk

Nice old heritage site in Malacca for nostalgic feel with old streets, houses and temples for a leisure walk. Loads of cafes, mini stalls selling antiques to keep you entertained. Parking is a hassle as there are limited lots.

  • 5/5 Wei T. 1 year ago on Google
Love the nostalgic atmosphere here, and the variety of food you can find here is simply amazing - so much to savour, so little time/capcity! 😂 Stumbled upon a lovely little cafe tucked away in a quiet(er) side lane which gave us some much needed respite from the unyielding heat, humidity and crowd. We could barely soak it all in in one evening, so with little hesitation we returned the following day for more feasting and shopping. ☺️
