Absolutely loved the Cathedral. I went up to the top of Tower which has amazing views, it's 34 floors high so make sure it is something you can do before you start. The monuments, stain glass windows and the architecture are out of this world. There are plenty of seats for you to sit and take everything in. You don't need to be religious to be taken In by the beauty or any of the interesting history this place holds.

A huge Catholic Cathedral that houses hundreds if not thousands of ancient religious artifacts. In addition the the silver and gold alters the Cathedral houses the possible remains of Christopher Columbus. The associated tomb is fantastic. The gothic ceiling is unbelievable, looking at all of the veins of stones that start at the floor and go up the pillars and across the ceiling and down another pillar and ending at the floor. Lots of artwork as well as sculptures. A must see for any Catholic.

1* for the official guided tour of the roofs in English (the Cathedral itself is extraordinary and interesting and definitely worth a visit!!). The views were spectacular and it’s interesting to learn about the architecture and history of the Cathedral (and the ‘mushrooms’) but I echo others’ reviews that the guide wasn’t exactly easy to understand and most of time the group were half guessing what the guide was trying to say. The headphones’ bad audio quality (one time use) made it even harder. I also felt like the roofs weren’t more interesting than the interior/exterior that could be viewed otherwise with the general ticket. Note that the guided tour is just for the roofs (no re-entry to the Cathedral or the Tower).

Spent a wonderful five nights in Seville in October. Stunning weather 😎 with temperatures hitting 30C. We stayed at the ‘modern’ Hotel Rey Alfonso X within the historic city centre and simply walked every day. Photos simply don’t do the Cathedral justice it is magnificent. NB Ensure you book a ‘jump the queue’ tour to get most from your visit. NB Climb the tower 34 ramps plus 15 steps awesome views.

I recommend you to buy the ticket in advanced because of the queue. The church is amazingly beautiful. You can buy the ticket in advance. It is easy to get here by Google maps. It took me about 15 mins to walk. The church is big and had many things to see.

Absolutely stunning. A must do when in Seville. Every corner reveals another amazing beautiful area. Gothic designs and lavish black and gold intricate carvings. Christopher Columbus's tomb stands in prime position within a spectacular structure. Bell Tower is worth visiting for views. Lovely peaceful atmosphere with plenty of seating to relax, prayer and take in the awe inspiring surroundings. Many side doors leading to different rooms which can be easily missed.

The Cathedral is a must visit in Seville together with the Alcazar. It's the biggest cathedral in the world in terms of internal volume and the second one in terms of surface. Once inside you have a feeling of awe for the magnitude of the building and the richness of decorations of the many chapels: in particular the golden altarpiece by Pierre Dancart is really impressive. I took a guided tour, the costs was about 32€ together with the entrance ticket.

(Translated by Google) Seville Cathedral is located in the center of Seville's Old Town. It is the third largest cathedral in Europe. It was built from the beginning of the 15th century to about a century, and because of its long construction, it Renaissance style is mixed. Inside the cathedral is the coffin of Columbus, discoverer of the New World. It is the third largest cathedral in Europe. The largest cathedral is the Vatican's San Pietro Basilica, and the second is Saint Paul's Cathedral in London. The site of the cathedral was the site of a mosque in the late 12th century. The mosque has disappeared, but the wider shape is influenced by the mosque that the closer to Mecca the better. It was built from 1402 to about a century, and as it was built in a long period, Gothic, Neo-Gothic, and Renaissance styles are mixed. Here, the remains of King San Fernando, who recovered Seville from the Muslims, and the kings of the Middle Ages of Spain are enshrined. Near the south gate is the tomb of Columbus, with statues representing the former kingdoms of Spain, Leon, Castile, Navarra, and Aragon. The remains of Columbus are enshrined in this coffin. We visited Seville Cathedral in March 2020 just as Spain went into lockdown due to Covid 19 and all public places were closed. So all we could do was view the cathedral from the outside, but what we saw was spectacular. The cathedral is of Gothic construction and features the iconic bell tower La Giralda that dates back to the Moors. We intend to visit the cathedral properly when we return back to Seville once travel restrictions are lifted.

The Seville Cathedral was a beautiful stop in the Santa Cruz neighborhood in Seville. The outside architecture was stunning. Walk around and check out the doors. Each one is intricately decorated with stone carvings. For more check out the RetiredAndTravelling blog post on the Santa Cruz area.

The details of this cathedral are just breathtaking. The amount of detail on everything is almost shocking. You can't stop to wonder how is it possibe to paint such things, scalp such statues.. buildings... It has a lot, a lot, a lot to see... So go with time. The bad part is that almost everything is explained in Spanish... There is almost 0 English translation.

Amazing place! Be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time. If you do so, you can go right up to the tower which is the coolest part. Time on your ticket matters, so show up right on time. If you are early, you will have to wait. If you want to learn every details, download the app ahead of time or take a guided tour.

An absolutely awe-inspiring place, breathtaking with a rich history that beats with a passion of a million drums. I felt so zen and peaceful in this special place. Visited today as part of a guided tour. A MUST visit here in Sevilla for tourists and locals alike. Top tip! book a skip-the-line guided tour to avoid the long queues and really maximise your time here.

Magnificent! Really worth the time and money, and its not that much money. make sure to book the ticket online, even with that you will wait in at least two lines (despite having an assigned time slot) for a good 10-15 minutes before you get inside the place. But the interior of a church is really worth it. Its not that different from other gothic churches except for the sheer size and grandeur. Really impressive.

Breathtakingly beautiful! So much to see, could easily spend 2+ hours inside. Stunning architecture, a lot of interesting art pieces. If you can plan your trip in advance, buy tickets online (a little cheaper - 11euro adult vs 12euro at the door, 6 vs 7 euro for seniors; also can bypass the line). The line from the gate to the ticket booth took about 15 minutes. Admission includes the tower - about 35 flights up, but through a ramp, no stairs, except for the very last flight.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have seen from the outside, from every angle. The inside is impressively, cavernously vast as well. The audio guide is a little dull but that may just be me. The orange tree courtyard is nice and there is a tower you can climb for a good view (there are very few steps and mostly just a long winding ramp to the top).

One of the best touristic places in Seville. Must see. Highly recommended. Buying tickets in advance and online is also recommended though it took us about 15 minutes to get the tickets and find our way through. Magnificent. Everyone was absolutely amazed with the beauty of the building.

Sevilla cathedral in Spain is an important monument and a landmark that is a must do. I cannot describe the importance and beauty of this cathedral, it is stunning, breathtaking and a marvel. The tomb of Columbus is here, and it is a masterpiece in itself. Climbing all the way to the top of the bell tower was a stunning experience with wonderful views at the top. I would recommend visiting this cathedral with buying advanced tickets, purchasing the audio guide is really helpful and gives you a good insight to the cathedral and its various rooms.

Seville Cathedral is a stunning and unmissable experience. The scale of the building is incredible by any standard, and you could easily lose a couple of hours exploring the endless chapels and annexes. We booked the roof tour, which was an amazing visit, as we wound up and down staircases, accessing balconies with high views over the cathedral interior, seeing the roof from close up and having amazing views of the city. The Giralda is fairly easy to climb, as it is a ramp rather than stairs, although the view from the top is obscured by insensitive netting which makes photos very difficult. Most important, even if you just do the standard visit, is to allow enough time.

Massive, imposing Gothic cathedral (although the stones are white!) that dominates the centre of Seville. Unfortunately most areas aren't open to the public unless part of an arranged tour. The exterior is magnificent though.

The largest Gothic building in Europe, the Catedral de Sevilla sits in the heart of the city on Avenida de la Constitución and invites travelers from around the world to admire its impressive architecture. Built in the late 15th century, the cathedral has more than 40 chapels and sits on the site of a former mosque. The vastness of the cathedral and tower impresses visitors, and upon entering, many said they were stunned by the building's cavernous interiors. It is widely accepted that Christopher Columbus' remains can be found inside the above-ground bronze tomb on display inside the cathedral, though it has never been confirmed. Once you've finished touring the cathedral's interior, make your way to the Patio de Los Naranjos – an outdoor square filled with aromatic orange trees. La Giralda – the adjacent tower and the tallest landmark in Seville – is one of the few remains of the site's original mosque, which was torn down in 1402. Along with those in Marrakech and Rabat, La Giralda is among the world's longest-surviving minarets from the 12th century Berber-Muslim Almohad Dynasty. Climb the minaret's nearly 40 ramps to the very top and take in sweeping views of the city. The cathedral is regularly open to visitors Monday from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday access is available from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. In July and August, visitors can stop by Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., or Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cathedral does hold Mass several times per day in different chapels, so be mindful of those engaged in prayer. (Times and location of services vary by time of year and day of the week). General admission costs 9 euros (about $10) and includes access to both the Catedral and La Giralda. For more information, visit the cathedral's

If visiting Seville then the Cathedral is a must see. Very interesting architecture with the most beautiful gold Alter by Pierre Dancart. Beautiful stained glass, the columns. Christopher Columbus’s sarcophagus. Build on the location of a mosque, you would see the beautiful Islamic arch on the way out. Get the ticket online - includes access to the Giralda, get there 5 to 10 minutes before your reserved time. Don’t worry about the line. People enter based on the booked slot not the spot in the line. Ticket is 11 euro

Well, you can’t come to Sevilla without going to this cathedral. Really amazing tour of everything that lasted nearly 2 hours. The inside of the cathedral is just unreal in size and some of the work is breath taking. There is so much history you can feel it. This is a must tour regardless of whether or not you are religious. A fabulous church from both the inside and the outside. When we were on the top of the church tower we saw some people walking on the rooftop on the other side. Probably there is a kind of ticket that also includes the rooftop tour but we didn’t find it. Another thing worth mentioning is that the tower has all of the slopes instead of usual steep staircases, so you can climb up to the top effortlessly, which is pretty cool!

The Cathedral itself is beautiful to explore, both from the inside and outside. You can see the tomb of Christopher Columbus inside and the golden Bible. The climb up is not too hard, you'll have beautiful views to support the efforts :) Spend some time marvelling at the working of the bells on top of the tower. At midnight, visit the fountain in front of the cathedral to listen to the ringing of these bells like olden times!

What can you say about a wonder of world ecclesiastical architecture?! Grand, opulent, beautiful, ancient, overwhelming. I think it is the richest cathedral I have seen so far, and there was hardly a European city I could visit without seeing its cathedral. Boundless wealth. Silver representations of various cardinals, bishops, saints. Chapels for kings and princes. Tomb of Columbus. It is worth doing your research before visiting to understand its history, relevance and place in Spanish history. Impressive.

It was the largest and most majestic cathedral I have ever been to. The detailed carvings on the walls were so beautiful that I was amazed at the skill of the people of old. The tomb of Columbus was also a magnificent sight to behold with its magnificent carvings. Tickets could be purchased on the day of the visit, and I got the impression that it was not that crowded.

The history of the grounds and building is extensive. Dating to the Moors and future, it is worth learning about the origins of the area and it's original structure. The organ and choir area is worth a visit in itself for more recent additions. Took a tour of the roof to learn about the architecture. Worth the tour to learn about the reasons behind the structure as it is today.

Such an important historical landmark at the heart of the city. It is a monument not to be missed when in Seville. The architecture is astounding and full of historical significance The giralda tower is within the cathedral and has a separate ticket. The cathedral is really huge. It is a mix of Islamic and Catholic architecture and has many altars, a huge wall with figurines from the Bible and many more holy figurines. We took a guided tour for 16€ and it was worth it. The courtyard has blush orange trees laden with oranges. It has a souvenir shop with nice gifting options The drinking water is available in the washrooms which are clean. The entire tour takes around 2 hrs Do not miss this one for sure!

A vast Christian edifice built to supplant one of the Moorish treasures of Islamic Spain. In 1172, the Almohad caliph of southern Spain ordered the building of the Great Mosque in Seville. After the city was reconquered by the Christian Castilians in 1248, it was converted into a cathedral that served until 1401, when the city leaders decided to build a new place of worship on the same site. This new cathedral, dedicated to St. Mary, was completed in 1528. Built in Gothic style, it was covered with ornament and carving and filled with sculpture, paintings, tombs, and memorials. Two parts of the original mosque were retained: the bell tower (La Giralda) of the cathedral was built on the minaret of the Great Mosque, and the courtyard entrance was inherited from the Moors.

Definitely worth exploring with a guide- we booked ours through Trip Advisor which also included the Alcazar. The fourth largest church in the world this place was really big and we'll detail. Horses carriages were on the outside offering visitors a ride around the area. Very classical and great place to visit for anyone in Sevilla. Seville Cathedral was the site of the baptism of Infant Juan of Aragon in 1478, only son of the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile.

Lovely place to visit in Seville, so much history here including the tomb of Christopher columbus. You can ascend the high tower which would archaicly be rode on horseback thus no stairs, just a spiral of constant ramps. So much artwork and culture here. Unbelievable! Keep in mind this is a short one hour bus journey from South of Portugal :)

The Cathedral of Seville is architecturally and historically one of the world's great edifices. The Moorish influence in the architecture is undeniable, and only adds to its ultimate charm. The fact that inside the cathedral itself lies the tomb or Christopher Columbus simply adds delight to both the serious and the casual visitor as well.

(Translated by Google) Impressive, the largest Gothic-style cathedral in the world. You have to visit it, even its upper deck is worth it, for its history and for its views. It is a world heritage site. A minaret (La Giralda) and the courtyard of the old mosque on which it was built are preserved. It houses the patron saint of Seville, the Virgen de los Reyes. The temple houses the mortal remains of Christopher Columbus and several kings of Castile; like Pedro I the Cruel, Fernando III the Saint and the son of this, Alfonso X the Wise. Beautiful cathedral . This is one of the biggest cathedrals in Europe. The surroundings around the cathedral are cooler compared to other places in Seville . This is a nice spot to relax on a hot summer day at Seville Spain

  • 5/5 Teague C. 2 years ago on Google
One of the highlights in Seville. Well worth the time and the money. The architecture is sublime and the view from the tower is panoramic. Get ready to work those glutes.

  • 5/5 Summer 2 years ago on Google
The tower has 34 flights of stairs. Actually they are not stairs, but sloping walkway, which is easier on the knees. The views on top is worth it. And you need to walk off the extra dessert you’ve just enjoyed anyway.

Fantastic Cathedral to visit. We were pleased that we booked a guide who told us all the wonderful historical stories of everything we saw. Don't forget to visit the side buildings too. Did you know that the son of Christopher Columbus built the first Google 😀, a search engine for information! Take enough time to visit all this, it is really breathtaking!

The place where even if you are not beleive in Gid, you are charged with the faith. Maybe due to the grandeur of the venue... maybe because of something else? I think because of something very different!

Definitely the tomb of the Christofer Columbus is the highlight but the cathedral is massive. Biggest goth church ⛪ in the world with many chapels and a courtyard with orange trees.

  • 5/5 Carlo S. 2 years ago on Google
Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic church in the world and the most important church in Seville. Originally a mosque and has a rich history and unique architecture. Inside you will be amazed by its many treasures, from the splendour of the main altar to the tomb of Christopher Columbus and the artistry and beauty of its many chapels. It is truly spectacular and beautiful.

The cathedral is located in the centre of Seville and it's very beautiful. It's really huge and can be seen all around. Nearby you find the avenues filled with lots of restaurants and shops. The architecture of the building is amazing. It's really worth a visit if you are in Seville. Highly recommended....!!!!

Very very busy. €5 for the audio guide but not convinced it was much help unless particularly keen to know every Bishop etc and every painting's provenance. But it is a lovely place nevertheless probably worth reading up before you go. Best part was Christopher Columbus' tomb; very dramatic.

What a cool experience. Just to see the how big and grand the space is, and how life must have been so different back in the day. Would definitely recommend it. Lots of artwork from hundreds of years ago, sculptures, artefacts of coronations. Note that for the tower, it is 34 “flights” of sloped ground.

Absolutely stunning! After visiting Italy a number of times I really thought no religious building will be able to impress me. But the Cathedral in Seville is just on a whole new level. The combination of Arab aesthetics with Catholic symbolism in this grandiose building is like nothing I've ever seen. It is really impressive, especially through the lense of history behind it. From the Moore era, through crusades and finally Christopher Colombus expedition to the Americas, this cathedral will take you on a trip through the ages. Not to mention the Tower giving you the view for the whole city. There's plenty of rooms to roam around, each in it's own unique style. As a cherry on top you also get to marvel the impressive organs in the central part. Wonderful place to visit even if you're not religious.

  • 5/5 CE Turner J. 1 year ago on Google
The Cathedral was amazing and pleasant to the eyes. The amount of treasure and artist styles made me feel like stepping back in time. The tower is so tall it could be seen from all over the old town of Seville. The multiple cultures represented is overwhelming such as Muslim, Jew, Spanish, Portuguese and even the New world of the Americas.

After visiting a number of cathedrals across Spain we felt this would be just another one - boy, we were so wrong. This place is huge and has lots to offer. Start the tour of the cathedral with the Giralda Tower. It’s about 30+ floors but quite an easy climb. The views from there are worth it. The cathedral has a lot to offer including Christopher Columbus tomb. It’s a great place to spend a quiet afternoon appreciating the architecture and the other attractions within.

  • 5/5 Monica-Paraschiva M. 1 year ago on Google
Wow wow wow. Impressive cathedral. Left speechless with the layout. It was well worth booking the tour with the tower visit. Had a good workout going all the way up to the tower and there I was able to have a panoramic view of the city.

Absolutely loved this Roman catholic church. The inside of the cathedral is just amazing and some of the work is breath taking. Best part was Christopher Columbus' tomb. The views from Giralda tower are worth it. It’s about 34 floors but quite a easy climb.  It is truly spectacular and beautiful. Highly recommend on any trip to Sevilla.

Awesome Cathedral to visit in Seville. Photos could never do justice to these places. Make sure you spend time soaking in the atmosphere. Get your tickets online ahead to save time and make sure to do the 34 floors ( ramps) tower. Views on top are well worth it. Plan your visit early before the crowds and groups arrive around noon.

Tour of the roof is not to be missed. Sunday mass wonderful, as is weekday mass in the royal chapel. Just tell the guard you're going to mass (they won't let you sightsee to/from)

Such an amazing piece of architecture. The largest gothic church in the world, with so much to see and admire. From the vaulted ceilings, ornate carvings around all of it's large doors, the bell tower, various chapels and majestic organ. Burial place of many prominent Spanish historical figures, including the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Buy your ticket online to avoid the queues and select the time of visit. Allow for over an hour to admire all that it has to offer. A definite must when visiting Seville.

  • 5/5 Gerben V. 9 months ago on Google
Impressive, huge, magnificent. This iconic piece of architecture is a must see in Seville. It is one of the biggest and most heavily decorated cathedrals I have seen with plenty of beautiful statues, gold ornaments and relics and of course the beautiful tomb of Christopher Columbus.

Second time here, this time with our kids. Just beautiful. Climbed the tower with the kids - 8,10,11 years old. Beautiful panoramic views of the city. Just breathtaking. Highly recommend on any trip to Sevilla.

  • 5/5 Michelle M. 10 months ago on Google
Wow. I never thought I would be into architecture like this but this place changed my mind. It is so amazing to be able to see how people back in the days built all of this without technology or blueprinting. The amount of gold in here is insane & how intricate the alters are. The admission is quite cheap for self guided tour, but the VIP tour lets you go behind some of the blocked off alters which I really wished I did. Seeing those upclose would’ve been a cool experience. They also have a very pretty courtyard.

The most amazing cathedral I have ever been in. Incredible architecture with many different styles all in one place and in great harmony. Where the Gothic meets the Renaissance and the Moorish meets the Flamish. Great and detailed audio guide. The orange garden is fantastic. The view from the Giralda is incredible, although it is always overcrowded. A must for every Seville itinerary.

  • 5/5 Dan L. 10 months ago on Google
Tired of visiting cathedrals? I had the same feeling until visiting this one which is the number 3 largest cathedral. It is magnificent and beautiful with lots of artistic statues and paintings not mentioning the stunning architecture. You have to climb 34 staircases to have a 360 degree breathtaking view of Seville.

  • 5/5 Pradeep P. 8 months ago on Google
An amazing cathedral and one of the biggest in Europe. Tickets can be purchased online and the time slot can be selected for the visit. Total time to visit including the tower is 2/3 hours. It was packed during the weekend and not quiet for a prayer. There are many chapels inside and I lost count half way through. The architecture, paintings is amazing. Tomb of Christopher Columbus is in the cathedral and is amazing to see the final resting place of one of the great explorers.

  • 5/5 Dada Z. 10 months ago on Google
Amazing Cathedral and Giralda so much to see and explore. Views from Tower over Seville where magnificent and inside has left me with ow. Such a beautiful experience to visit and explore as well is like walking through history all in one place.

  • 5/5 Debaleena S. 8 months ago on Google
I could not take my eyes off this cathedral everytime I walked past. Beautiful inside and out. Better to buy ticket online to bypass que and to get one euro cheaper. To get to the top of the tower, there are 34 ramps and one last flight of stairs. But the view of the city is beutiful even from the windows on the way, in case you cannot fully make it to the top.

  • 5/5 Monika K. 4 months ago on Google
Breathtaking cathedral. 47 altars two huge organs, so much history and art. And a beautiful bell tower that allows you to see most of Sevilla from the top. Also the gardens are beautiful with a lovely fountain as a centerpiece.

Seville Cathedral is awe-inspiring, blending Gothic and Moorish influences seamlessly. The intricate details of the Giralda tower, the grandeur of the interior, and the historic significance make it a captivating cultural gem. A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site is a journey through time, showcasing stunning architecture and rich Spanish history.

  • 5/5 Morten A. 5 months ago on Google
This is a world class experience that you absolutely have to see when in Seville. The size alone is overwhelming, the dome impressive in itself. Columbus is buried inside in a perhaps not beautiful but magnificent site.

We visited in Sept, and no tickets available on the day. So purchase online before hand...or you may have to purchase a tour guide, which is dearer. This is what we had to do...but prefer to do, at our pace. Impressive building, and told it us the 3rd largest cathedral in the world. They have a dress code, but not really enforced as we observed.

  • 5/5 Aaron O. 5 months ago on Google
Beautiful interiors and some really interesting historical information. We came on a Sunday at around 1600 and there was a very short queue. I would recommend visiting, I am not religious but the interiors are amazing, very detailed and very interesting. It was busy inside, but that didn't detract from the experience.

There are often fairly long queues to visit the Cathedral, but it is well worth the wait. There are several guided tours that you can pre-book if you don't want to wait in line. We did the rooftop tour and really enjoyed it. Our group was only about 10 people, and we got to access areas that are otherwise not available to see. If you visit Seville, please go see this amazing cathedral.
