It was a place where a matrimonial fare was organized and the "groom's to be" were all lined up.The "bride's to be" parents would come and try to find an ideal groom for their daughter. This is a very old place and is the epicenter of Mithila culture. The principal language of this place is Maithili though the people are well versed in Hindi as well and it shouldn't be a problem if you don't understand maithili.

This place used to be famous for the groom Mela kind of event for so many years, but slowly it got lost with time! Although every year we have huge Mahadev Pooja celebration here! Must visit place to understand the culture of mithila..

This was a very overwhelming experience in Saurath, the place was filled with people, I was told that this gathering was happening after 12 years and people from various grams of Madhubani gathered there for the grand wedding of all the youths present there, it was really an overwhelming experience as I have never experienced something like that.

It has its historical importance but definitely good place to hang out.

Great place. Sabha gachhi is mainly for Brahman grooms. Grooms from nearby area come there & bride family came to select groom for their bride. That way they are fixing marriages. This sabha happens once in a year.
