Beautiful site. Overlooking Chilumba. Beautiful Beach and clear waters. Either it was due to Corona, but the rooms were not well taken care of. Not the best. It's nearly 30 minutes walk from the bus stop. But easily accessible.

I was very disappointed. The building that the bar is in is really cool with wonderful views. My room had no towel no soap no toilet paper. I requested these but none given. The room needed a proper clean. Bath and toilet mat filthy. So much potential wasted. Won’t take much to spruce the place up

We stayed for three nights in February 2023 and enjoyed the beautiful views of Lake Malawi and tasty meals. The property has one of the coolest bars overlooking the lake made of stone! We swam in the lake and it was lovely. We got a chance to visit a few of the projects supported by the Determined to Develop Malawi that is affiliated with the resort including a secondary school and preschool.

Very nice place, they have private rooms, dorms, camping areas, friendly staff, awesome view of the lake where you have a direct access for a swim. You can also learn more about their NGO activities. There is a bar and a restaurant but a bit expensive

Great place with a great mission. Their proceeds go to paying school fees and feeding local students. Most of the staff are the actual students that the lodge supports. Really really cool place. Plus the lake and sun views are spectacular.

Had a great time staying at Maji Zuwa in April 2018! The views of Lake Malawi are superb and staff is very nice. Did I mention the beer and food is also good yet inexpensive. Accommodations are basic but we knew that ahead of time. Our room was clean and simple with mosquito net, warm showers and a box fan. Some folks said the host Matt wasn't around much but know he is running the NGO next door. If you want to spend time with him volunteer your time there. He and his staff are doing amazing work and could use your help!

Friendly safe place to get a comfortable room, hot meal, cold libation and a million dollar view. I've been here 4 or 5 times and always think..... yeh I'll be back. The place is tranquil and exudes peace . I love to come here because the lodge provides a home base to determined to develop an ngo that is making a multi generational difference in the lives of the kind people we know as Malawians.

This place is hardly a resort. It is more like a budget hotel. It is super basic and that is okay considering that the price is pretty low. Our trip there was in 2014. When we checked in Matt, the owner was not around but he had informed me that he would be away when we communicated by e-mail. Communication prior to check in was really good and he gave u really good directions and with the help of google maps it was not difficult to get there. Since we took public transport, we were dropped of on the main road at the location Matt told us to tell the conductor and we then walked to the hotel. It is quite a bit of a track getting there and since it had been raining it was quite muddy. The disappointment was that the hotel did not feel like it was running and although we do not mind places that do not feel like a hotel this place did not give a positive vibe. Again, most likely because Matt was not around. The rooms were really dirty and dusty that we got sick and asked for a different room which we got. This place has great potential and I hope our experience was mediocre because it was not fully opened but I wish we would have been informed.

Wooow! Stunning view and very fair prices. Very very good food. Great bar with friendly staff. Have a swim in lake Malawi with local children and enjoy the warm heart of Africa.
