You cannot compare pastries from a cold baker with those from a hot baker, of course. Everything seems to come out of the freezer a bit. What's nice is that it is always open, even on public holidays. And the staff is always very friendly.

Van Hecke bakery is the 4th bakery in Zomergem, so it recently opened next to a new pharmacy with ample parking. You can sit at the table with friends and drink soup or delicious coffee and eat a pastry, and that alone makes this bakery unique in Zomergem. Nice range of breads, cakes and cakes and especially because I like to eat sandwiches instead of baguettes, I am truly a king. A great bakery and great, friendly staff.
