It is beautiful place. Amazing in monsoon. You can take toy train or go by foot. It's not worth to take horses. They will charge more and will fool you. It's better to go by foot once you reach Matheran station. For regular trekkers this place is not good. This is good for beginners.

It was worst experience. I am not gonna visit again. There is no any proper parking area, just pay and park your vehicle anywhere. Be careful from food scammers, they sale 20 /- water bottle for 25/-. Keep safe distance from monkey's I have taken good experience with monkey's. They have stolen almost 1000/- food and drinks from us. Few monkey's are alcoholic. All sightseeing are same , there is nothing to see different. Before visiting this place search about this place , think properly and then plan your journey. Happy journey.

Matheran literally translates to ā€œForest on the Headā€, this stunning hill station in the state of Maharashtra is a top favourite among the residents of neighbouring cities like Mumbai and Pune and with the rest of India as well. It also manages to attract International travellers owing to its location and the agreeable climate for the most months! As with any hill station, there are numerous look out points approximately 38 for you to enjoy and take in the most beautiful views you would have seen in a long time! Tourism in Matheran is always growing with thousands of travellers visiting almost every day! One of the most interesting things about Matheran is that no vehicles are allowed in the city. This makes it pollution free and the unnecessary honking that we bear in the cities on a daily basis! Plan your trip to Matheran any time of the year as the weather here is pleasant for the most part of the year making it an ideal weekend getaway or a plan of your 2/3 day trip to Matheran

I've been here several times with my friends. If you want to come and stay, you should come on Saturday or Sunday. The weather is very cold and pleasant here. You can go to various points such as echo point, sunset point, and so on. You can also go horseback riding here. There is a main market area where you can get all of your necessities, as well as hotels. There are lodges and hotels available for reservations. It is not necessary to make a reservation because the rooms are always available. You can have fun with family or friends.

Nice place. Be ready to walk a lot. The ponys are available but cost too much. Nice weather. Total 38 points available. Train available from Aman lodge takes only 15 mins for 2km distance. It's worth to try or even you can walk. Various hotels available to stay.

Visited here several times, but the fun never gets old. It has several good points to see and places to enjoy, the mini train ride is enjoyable going watching the nature, also the horse ride gives us a feeling of being near to our nature. A very good hill station to visit. We can take taxi from neral station to Dasturi and then from their either walking, horse ride or new e-rickshaw to matheran. Entry fees are also reasonable, 50 for adult and 25 for kids. E-rickshaw takes around 35Rs for one person. Also the best nearest points to see are echo point, Charlotte lake, Lord point, Shiva temple. Other than these, though far but the best point is Louisa point and sunset point. If went there, surely try chicki from Nariman chicki mart.

It's an excellent place to visit. Great stuff is away from motorized vehicles, and if you leave the market area, it's quite a place, too. Village Motors Association doesn't allow transport vehicles without fee. If you are not traveling in your own vehicle. They have their own stories. There are some good resorts and hotels but don't miss to ride toy train if possible complete stretch. It takes 2 1/2 hrs to come down, but it's worth it. Monkeys are another factor everywhere, so if you have food items, cold drinks etc, keep it inside.

Beautiful greenery with waterfall feels like heaven. It feels like lonavala, you can book any resort here and spend time with friends and family in the middle of the pahar. Traveling in monsoon is the best time you can visit. Sometimes walking into the clouds feels amazing And don't forget to book the toy train.

Matheran Known as theā€ cutest little hill station of Indiaā€, the Matheran hill station is the best place to enjoy the sunset and sunrise view along with some mind blowing sceneries to keep you fresh and up front. This extraordinary hill station offers theĀ best tourist places in MatheranĀ which are untouched and undisturbed by the rustling city life that surrounds the town. The place is actually located on the Western Ghats that ranges in an elevation of around 800 meter above the sea level. The place always has a pleasant weather to enjoy during any time of the year, but its beauty gets added up during the season of rain and thunderstorm. Another thing about the beautiful hill station is that it is eco friendly and has no rush of cars and buses honking on the street. The major was taken by the government of Maharashtra in order to protect Matheran. The best thing about this place is that it is like a quiet and relaxing place with no buzzing of horns and pollution and along with that it contains some mesmerizing places and views of the extraordinary nature that will leave you bewitched of its beauty and make you feel relax and stress free. Just not only trekker, Matheran is a treat for the photographers also to explore and capture the best of the beauty of the beautiful hill station. The beauty of Western Ghats, Matheran is the smallest hill station of India. Travellers and tourists who visit the place love exploring the place by walking on foot. By which it becomes more exciting to get lost in the scenic beauty of the town while finding your way. Plan yourĀ trip to MatheranĀ and indulge yourself inĀ various activities that Matheran providesĀ like camping, trekking,Ā rappelling etc. Matheran town is the best option for a person who loves getting lost in the nature and also for those who wants to take a break from their busy city life. One of the coolest and nearest hill stations to Mumbai. Best to visit in Rains to see a lot of waterfalls. Winter is also breathtaking, with fog covered over mountains and lakes.. Enjoy the nature in full glory!!

One of the best hill stations you can visit near Mumbai! The best part is that there are 0 vehicles beyond Aman Lodge (which is around 45 minutes before you reach Matheran) which makes it the only place of its kind atleast in India, I guess!

Matheran is a great place to visit for family and friends. The best way to travel there is by taking the toy train from the Neral station. Though the frequency is very low, you will have to come at least an hour early to get hold of tickets. The different points, the food and the entire experience is enriching and pleasant. If you are looking for a getaway or a staycation and at a manageable distance from Mumbai, this is a great option. The localities are also very friendly, polite and helpful.

Had a great experience here. We visited in mid of dec. The points are far away from one to another either you can go by walk or a horse. Horses can charge you 1.5 to 2k for visiting 4..5 points. We get there from thane by train to neral, from neral you can go by eco or toy train. For a toy train you have to wait in queue at least an hour or 2 hours before. Eco's are easily available and charge 100 pp. They'll drop you to the aman lounge from their toy train, horse and autos are available to matheran.

Matheran boasts scenic greenery, numerous hill points, and waterfalls. We visited during August, which offered a refreshing climate with cool breezes and a hint of fog. Accessible from Aman Lodge via toy train, Matheran's various points can be explored by horse ride or on foot. Each point being sufficiently distant, requiring approximately 1-2 days to fully experience.

Beautiful hill station neaby mumbai location. You can reach the Matheran Hill station either by Local Train and Matheran Toy train or by Cab or you can take your vehicles too. Less polluted hill station, because no outside vehicles are permitted within Hill station. Best time to visit hill station during rainy season and winter season. Toy train mostly not operational during rainy season.

One of the best place to visit in monsoon. Once you reach on top at the end where there is a entry to you have to buy a ticket for 50 rs at the entry gate. When you go inside after buying the ticket to explore more you'll find horses for which they charge 450 rs per person to go the end of the matheran hills which is about 5 6 km. Also you'll can get lodges there for almost 600 rs per hour which is way too much.

It's a perfect weekend getaway especially for mumbaikars. Hardly 2 to 3 hrs drive from Mumbai. Eco hillstation with no vehicles however since its a small hill station it can easily be explored on horserides provided by locals, also on foot if you love trekking through the forests. Fresh air, green forests and decent hotel options for every budget. Best alternative to Lonavala which is getting exceedingly crowded these days. Its even more beautiful in the monsoons.

Very beautiful hills station. It's nature lovers heaven. Many hotels resorts for stay. Many sight seeing points and dam can be visited by walk and horse riding. Toy train available from Neral to Matheran. Vehicles allowed till Aman Lodge and Paid Parking available. From there many ways to reach Matheran hill by walking, train, horse riding, electric auto.

I suggest don't miss the the fine and amazing creativity of nature. Just plan with friends, pack bags and catch a local for Neral and spent a beautiful day. This is low risk trek and no tiredness feeling at the end of the day.

  • 5/5 Ameya K. 1 year ago on Google
Best place to spend some time in nature which is very near to mumbai as well as pune lots of points are there where you can see scenic beauty I will suggest one thing that while visiting such points keep your eyes and ears open for beautiful birds, trees and in general diversity Matheran has around 160 different species of birds and 30 plus species of snakes There is also parking available for both two and four wheelers (pay and park basis) Go and spend some time in nature šŸ˜Š

Very NICE PLACE TO VISIT and Cottages and Rooms is also responsible pricing, we should ask food from local home food it's very tasty... no pollution, best time to visit Rainy season. Beware of Land slides and Monkeys.

  • 4/5 SURESH P. 1 year ago on Google
One of the closest getaways for Mumbai folks. Would recommend going during monsoon but is fun even rest of the season. Beware of the monkeys (don't keep food items/water bottles outside) Its hard to get seats in the toy trains because only 1 train an hour. So you can walk it would be worth it. There's good viewing points, stalls and stuff along the way and it's only 2kms max! Take cash with change if you can! Hard to get network there so online payments won't work everywhere.

  • 5/5 Onkar J. 3 months ago on Google ā€¢ 2 reviews New
A must visit place! Experience the cool atmosphere, fresh air and Scenic view throughout the trek. All the main points can be covered in a single day if arrived in the early morning.
