A few meters from the beach there is a small religious building with white walls. It is a Christian hermitage, the hermitage of Sant Francesc. Its construction dates back to 1681, when the lords of the old almadrava decided to build a chapel. The first stone was laid by a Jesuit, Francisco de Poch, and after several centuries the hermitage is still in perfect condition. Its architecture is very simple, since it has a rectangular surface, with a portal and a small belfry. In front of its façade there is a red tile pavement and an attached stone bench ideal for resting in the shade.

Ermita de Sant Francesc de Blanes Carrer de l'Ermita, 10, 17300 Blanes, Girona This small monastery, very near the bay of the same name, was founded in 1681 by the tuna fishermen of Cala Bona, who had as their patron the friar San Francisco Javier. For this reason, a model of the tuna boat from that time was hung on the roof of the monastery. It was restored in 2010 by the Association Etimen les Ermites. Throughout the year, several festivities are celebrated inside Blanes during its main festivals, such as its festival on December 3, or the Aplec del Amor on July 28. The interior design is very simple, with only a few benches, a boat suspended from the ceiling, and a small altar with a painting of San Francesco de Javier de la Campagna de Yesu. The monastery is part of the route known as the Blanes Monastery Route, which runs for 18 kilometers between different monasteries in and around Blanes.

Small, very simple architecture, very beautiful from the outside. Going down the stairs you arrive at Sant Francesc beach.

The site of this chapel offers a view of the sea. Coming from Blanes, from Carrer de l'Ermita we joined the coastal path which is very beautiful and pleasant (cami de Ronda). And you can go up to the chapel from Cala Bona (Cala de Sant Francesca). There is a path through the undergrowth near the Cala Bona car park.
