My recent stay at Hotel Alegria Maripins in Malgrat de Mar left me deeply disappointed, and I cannot recommend it for those looking to have a peaceful and enjoyable vacation. I encountered several issues that significantly impacted my experience. First and foremost, the behavior of the staff was consistently rude and excessively strict. It felt as though they were constantly watching for even the smallest problems, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere throughout my stay. Their unwelcoming and suspicious attitude made me feel unworthy and unwelcome as a guest. Furthermore, I was surprised to find that the rooms lacked basic amenities such as a kettle or facilities for making tea or coffee. This is particularly disappointing considering the hotel claims to be a 4-star establishment. Additionally, I was taken aback by the additional charge for the safe keys. This is an unnecessary and inconvenient expense that should be included in the room rate. The swimming pool, which was advertised as a highlight of the hotel, was disappointingly small and not properly maintained. It was not kept clean to a satisfactory standard, making it difficult to fully enjoy or relax by the poolside. As someone on an all-inclusive plan, I expected fresh and varied food options. Unfortunately, the reality did not meet my expectations. Instead of freshly prepared meals, I often found myself eating leftover food, which was disappointing. Moreover, despite being on an all-inclusive package, drinks during dinner were not provided unless I paid an additional minimum of 3.5 Euros per glass. This lack of inclusivity was both surprising and disheartening. The overall atmosphere of the hotel did not match its claimed 4-star rating. In my opinion, there are better 3-star hotels in the area that offer a more satisfying experience for guests. In addition to those issues, the elevators in the hotel were noticeably small and frequently experienced malfunctions. This became quite inconvenient, particularly for guests staying on the higher floors. To summarize, the combination of rude and authoritative staff, the absence of basic amenities, the poorly maintained swimming pool, below-par all-inclusive food options, and the additional charges for drinks during dinner all point to the fact that this hotel does not live up to its claimed 4-star rating. I would strongly advise against choosing this hotel, especially if you are looking for a relaxing and pleasant vacation experience.

I don't generally leave reviews. The first room I was given was tiny and balcony was hard to move around. I complained and they moved me to a slightly bigger room. Was happy at first. But then the air-conditioning kept leaking and was flooding the floor. (Please see video of the floor) I come from a construction background and tried to explain that this is not normal. He said it was our fault for leaving the door open. Staff were not helpful. I was shocked to learn this is a 4star. It deserves 2 at most. I would never book this hotel again. Be weary of the room sizes and balcony sizes as I'm 6ft and was a bit claustrophobic.

Stay here for 10 nights there was 6 of us with 14,13,12 and 2 year old. Rooms were always kept clean and lovely with good air con although we had to move rooms as the air con unit set fire and went bang but was quickly resolved by staff. As well the lift we had to use as second floor as had a buggy the doors closed on the buggy and my partner 4 times. No entertain for the kids at all saw the happy team once in our 10 days stay nothing for them to do at all. I have stayed many places in the world this being the worst. The location is good as the strip is on the door stop very busy plenty of shops and restaurants. The area around the hotel the strip streets etc itself is not well cared for and I will leave that part there. The beach is 5 minute walk there is a train track which you have to go under to access it, the beach is sandy with stones and it really hurts your feet I recommend shoes. The food at the hotel was terrible we stayed half board and ate twice in the 10 days we stayed here mainly fish so your good if you like fish. Massive que for drinks in the restaurant as well as the only 1 fresh chef cooking food for a full capacity hotel . The pool area is very small and the pool it’s self is far to small for all these guests and you cannot move in there just stand as it was so busy . Saying that We never had a problem getting a sun bed . Hotel Is l more catered for Spanish guests and you get the feel that English are not welcome due to a member of a Management being heard being racist to another pair of English guests due to towels!! I think we and another family / couple was the only English guest here at the time and it was at full capacity. I would not return or recommend

Rooms were nice size and clean. Most staff very friendly and helpful, however would not return. Paid for all inclusive but ate out a few evenings as the food was so poor. Although buffet, very limited choice, food was greasy and tasteless. No options for vegetarians other than pasta/chips and items from The salad bar, which had flies on it. Although all inclusive, only 3 cocktails were on the all inclusive menu and not all snacks. One male bar staff was verbally inappropriate towards an 18 year. The cleaners came in daily and gave fresh towels and mopped the room, sheets were not changed for the week. Pool was very small. The “happy team” were lovely and friendly but unfortunately, the entertainment wasn’t great. There was an amazing man working at the bar, he was the life and soul of the hotel.

“Let me tell you about this horrendous hotel. The rooms are ridiculously tiny, and to make matters worse, the shower doesn’t even have a door! It’s just a flimsy glass screen. So, if your family member needs to use the toilet while you’re showering, they have to pass right by you. How absurd is that? As if that’s not enough, they don’t even provide a kettle in the room. Instead, they demand a €10 deposit for it. Oh, and get this: you also have to pay a deposit to use the hotel safe. Talk about nickel and diming! The hotel staff, from the reception to the restaurant, are a bunch of unfriendly, rude individuals. They couldn’t care less about providing decent service. The swimming pool is a joke. It’s so tiny, and despite kids jumping and diving recklessly, no one seems to care. But if you dare to bring your room towel to the pool, you’re treated like a criminal because, surprise, they demand a deposit for pool towels too. Let’s not even get started on the food. It’s a disaster! This morning, the milk was off, and did they bother to apologize? Of course not! The restaurant staff, especially the man, is extremely rude. They check your hotel cards as if they’re your boss and arrogantly point out where to sit. It’s beyond uncomfortable. Sure, it’s supposedly an all-inclusive deal, but guess what? You have to pay for all drinks during dinner, even water! And they are definitely not cheap. A glass of sangria costs a ridiculous €3.5. And don’t even get me started on the leftover foods they serve. I must admit, I lost weight during my week-long stay, thanks to their awful offerings. I will never make the mistake of booking this hotel again. And how on earth did it manage to receive a 4-star rating? There are far better 3-star hotels on the same street. This place doesn’t deserve more than 2 stars! You know what’s ironic? Other hotels with 3 stars have nightly events with live music, while here, the guys running the show just play music on their mobile phones from Spotify. If you’re looking for summer events, look elsewhere, because this hotel can’t deliver. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone who values a good holiday. The only redeeming aspect is the room attendants, who are genuinely trying their best and remain friendly. Don’t be fooled by other positive reviews like I was. Stay away from this nightmare!” Also gym is ridiculous!

Update: The guy at the front desk is the saving grace for this place. Very helpful and nice. The room was fine, the pool was cold, the service was good for the most part, but the food.... Inedible. The worst food I ever had in my life and I've travelled extensively. The breakfast was the only meal that was even remotely acceptable. Stale bread, undercooked chicken, boring tasteless pasta that even kids will hate. Finally, there isn't much to do in the area beyond buying useless touristy stuff. If you'd like to travel back in time, visit this hotel.

I used to manage a 3 star hotel back home. This place needs to be re-assessed by the industry as it is far from a 4-star standard. The 7 days we were here, they did not change our bedsheets once. We are a couple and our bed comprised two singles pushed together — without a bed adjoiner. The safe is not usable unless you pay a deposit (I’ve never heard of this in my life). The food is cold, even the hot food is cold. Thankfully we did not purchase the all inclusive package; however, every time we brought food into our rooms we received judgmental looks from reception. We received no replacement bags for our garbage bins after staff cleaned our rooms. The second night of our stay, the alarms went off and power went out for about 20 minutes—woke everyone up at 4am. No explanation or consideration for guests. Our room stinks because they don’t clean it properly—note the issue with not changing bedsheets. They simply remake the bed. Very unsanitary. There is no wifi in the rooms. Guest wifi is shoddy because it’s overloaded with traffic. View from our third floor room was nice—we overlooked the pool and could see the ocean. Location is good, except the street vendors charge whatever they want and I often felt like they marked up prices because they recognized we were tourists — this is besides the point, so I will leave it there. The fun team was hardly around; our children had maybe one evening of fun with them. Please do yourself a favour and do not book this hotel. It’s hardly a 2-star.

9 of us stayed in July. Won't be returning as 1 male member of staff at night that works 4 hours made numerous inappropriate comments to my 18 year old daughter. When I confronted him he denied it..on a family holiday this is the last thing you need. Go elsewhere with your hard earned money.

After reading reviews about this hotel I was a little apprehensive. However once I got there my doubts went straight away. The two young ladies who welcomed us were lovely. They eased me straight away. Our room was ready and it was spotless. As this was the summer holidays the outdoor area was busy but myself and my husband always managed to get a sunbed. All the staff were very friendly. We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was lovely. Entertainment is on daily for children and I enjoyed their Disney themed event. I had a fantastic week and will definitely be back in the future. Although the beach is opposite the hotel we decided to spend our time round the pool. Definitely recommend this hotel for families and couples.

The hotel is overall a good one. It has friendly staff & nice rooms. Though they could accomodate better. They put us (2 adults) on a floor filled with families with small children and people with pets. Maybe it would be better to accomodate families together, and put adults on a floor together. The doors in the hallways are also very heavy and wake you up in an instant when they fall closed. Breakfast was mediocre to bad; they have very little vegetarian/vegan options and no dairy alternatives. The little breads they have were either undercooked or stale. The 'fresh' juices served at breakfast came out of a machine and tastes very artificial. The food you could order at the pool/bar was not availble and the things they did have was absolutly awful! BUT the hotel also had some nice things: the location was perfect, the rooms were nice and clean. The bathroom was very nice. The bar they had by the pool was nice, and they had plenty of sunbeds. Overall rating: 6/10

Very reasonable price. I recommend this hotel, better reviews than other hotels near by. Modern room, good balcony. All facilities. Water or champagne welcome treat. Breakfast the best and largest buffet ever. Pool area small but the beach is right there and more quite. Can’t complain. Parking 15€ per day but easy to find parking on the area. Main street with restaurants, stores and markets.

Nice hotel, very well located (close to the beach and train station). Rooms are kept in a good condition, food is decent (love the paella!), not bad choice of drinks in all-inclusive option. We went there already for the second time and are not disappointed. Additionally, I left something the room and the lady at the reception (thanks so much Claudia for your immediate support) helped out to find it and took care of sending it back to me. All in all, positive experience:)

I regret choosing this place for family vacation. Don't look at 4 stars, max 2 stars worth it! left over foods comes to buffet over and over again, if something gone off staff doesn’t realise until you tell them . No apology, So rude receptionist and restaurant staff.

This review is specifically only for Chef Bilal. I don’t want to comment on the negatives of this hotel, but Chef Bilal absolutely saved my view of the kitchen (and my belly). He ensured there was no cross contamination whilst preparation of my omelettes, recommended me foods, and provided fantastic hospitality and a good way to start the day. Highly recommend Chef Bilal for his assistance.

Service was impeccable, all the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more hospitable. Our room was x2 single beds pushed together which was annoying. The breakfast was azing, couldn't fault it, but there were some really weird foods onnthe evening menus. Stewed pigs trotters and tentacles are deffo not something I'd eat. I was expecting some lovely Mediterranean vegetables, and nice fish etc. The vast majority of veg was soggy and cold. My poor hubby practically lived on pizza, chips, chicken nuggets and nachos. Despite being half board, we ended up eating out on the evening and ditching the hotel food. We were in a perfect place on the main strip in amongst all the gift shops, little supermarkets and 100 yards or so from the beach which was beautiful. There's a lovely indoor shopping centre about 20ins walk, also a Lidl and a KFC. There's a constant breeze so you can't overheat. The sunbathing area in the hotel grounds were cramped, there's no air that gets to the lower part. We did an excursion through the hotel to Barcelona. That was azing however with me having bad feet I didn't know how much walking was involved but putting that aside it was amazing. There's so many bars and restaurants there's an endless choice. I'd deffo go back again.

Myself, my daughter and Grandaughter recently stayed here.Everything was great.Staff lovely, food a bit samey all week, were shown a room far too small and view from balcony was the bins! However,we were transferred with no problems to a bigger room and balcony with sea view.Only downside was the transfer bus.Just dropped us off at 2am with no information how to get to the hotel which was daunting for us all.Same happened when dropped back at Barcelona Airport.Manager in restaurant was lovely, and Mano night waiter very amusing.

Lovely hotel, really friendly staff, nicely decorated, clean relaxed pool area. I think we got the best room in the hotel it was at the top corner overlooking the sea and the pool area. The rooms are cleaned daily with love and attention. Hot water 24,7, clean towels every day from a helpful young girl. Alot of effort is put into the all-inclusive dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, It is presented beautifully Some of the dishes might not be to everyone's taste, but the hotel has to cater for all nationalities from across Europe that they encounter. There is a wide selection of pasta, pizza Potato dishes, nice salads, and cheeses. The deserts are lovely and presented well. The bar staff are friendly and helpful and will give you whatever you want as long as you are polite. It really helps to say please and thank you. Overall, it was a lovely holiday experience. Thank you, Hotel Maripins

Nice hotel with nice rooms, service and riendly personell. It's main entrance is located at the boulevard so you can not reach it by car or bus and have to walk a bit with your luggage. We had a nice vacation here.

I think people have fairly low expectations for a reasonably priced all inclusive holiday. But I have to say this hotel exceeded them all. Greet room, great balcony, great staff, and best of all, really great food! Big variety of meals, and freshly cooked. You really can't go wrong. The Ritz it ain't, but for what it is, it's fantastic!

We were provided musical entertainment from Joan and it was as fantastic. He also kept us entertained with pool games and made kids happy during the afternoons and adults happy with music in the evenings. He is a credit to the hotel that he works in. Keep up the good work!

Really random room configuration, the 3 of us are part of a rugby team so it was ok, otherwise, not privacy between the no door between the room and the shower and the see through tiles between the toilets and the shower. Stayed all inclusive, however, €10 deposit for key for the safe, €10 deposit for a bath towel for the pool side, another €10 if you want to use the hotel facilities once you've checked out. Weird entertainments, train rails between the hotel and the beach. Pool much smaller than on the pictures too.

On arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne, which was a lovely touch. We noticed 5 cockroaches in our bathroom during our stay. I reported this to reception, was told the hotel was fully booked up but they would try to allocate my family to another family room. This never happened and no one didn't say another word regarding this situation, Which was very disappointing. Swimming pool is small. Beside the above i have stated the hotel is okay to stay at for a few days.

Great place amazing service. Excellent food for an all inclusive buffet style. Great staff, comfy beds, modern clean and stylish rooms. Champagne on arrival and welcoming reception. Surprised that we had a terrace with sun loungers and a bar which was excellent. Steps down to the pool area. And a view of the beach. Only con is the lack of sound proofing could hear people in corridor and next door easily. But all together a great place.

Even though it is rated 4 starts, I would set it at 3 due to parking availability,, pool size, food variety.... Very close to the beach, that is a definite plus.
