Personally considered the best attraction in Girona. The entrance is cheap, and it tells the history of cinema in detail with a lot of interaction tools. It makes you remember the history while having fun!

I loved this museum! it spawns on 3 floors, and it tells the history of cinema from the first shadow theatre to the portable TV. The audio guide in multiple languages is included in the (cheap) ticket. The venue is fully accessible, with a lift and ramps at every level. Totally recommended!

An absolute adventure in the history of the cinematographic art. From its early beginnings, in shadow plays, to Georges Melies, the museum captures all the steps, props and stages, brining to light old equipment, modern techniques for filming in an interactive and fun manner. What a compelling visit.

Brilliant experience. We went early on a weekday and there seemed to be only one other person in the whole place. Apparently the museum has won awards, which isn't surprising! You really get to experience the evolution of cinema, which makes it great for kids. It seems to stop abruptly around the 1950's however and we felt there was a lot to be said after that too, however that is pretty much my only criticism. Throughly recommended, one of the best things to do in Girona.

One of the best museums in the country I've ever been to and I have been to many! The collection is great, very extensive and varied, covers the whole history of photography and cinema. Has very very good on hands demonstrations that you can interact with. For the more knowledgeable, the audio guide is quite insightful and there are quite a few more technical parts to inspect.

a must visit if you're in Girona !! So fascinating and interactive. My fave part was the start, about ancient shadow puppet theatre. Only 3€ entry for students

Great interactive displays (shadow puppets, zoetropes, optic demos). So much creativity on display here. Anyone with an interest in art or science should check it out. Our 5-year-old also loved it and asked to go back the very next day. There were English descriptions on just about everything.

It is one of those museum which not make you bored during the visit. Lots of interesting stuff from many decades which are perfectly maintained. Some parts of tour are interactive what brings an extra joy. What I missed is a exhibition dedicated to a modern cinema and our times.

Beautiful moving image museum in the heart of Girona. Museum is divided to four floors and the round starts with short video intro. It focuses on history of light and picture entertainment and last part is about cinema. Lots of interactive things that activate museumgoer. Also interesting place to visit with a bit older kids.

My visit to the Cinema Museum of Girona was a fascinating journey through the history of cinema. The extensive collection of film-related artifacts and exhibits offered a captivating insight into the evolution of this art form. From vintage projectors to iconic movie posters, the museum beautifully documented the magic of motion pictures. It was an enriching experience that deepened my appreciation for the world of film and its cultural significance.

Very interesting and interactive museum, where you can learn of the beginnings of the moving picture and see the tools and methods used to bring stories to life in different eras.

What a fantastic museum! Even if you are not a cinephile, you will be amazed by the precursors of cinema (camera obscura, laterna magica etc.). There are hands-on interactive parts, which are loads of fun. And the price is a bargain.

Before visiting this place, be aware that you'll spend a lot of time here. Very, very interesting. You'll get a complete overview of cinematic history in a very entertaining way, with unique collections of cinematic devices.

Very informative! If you have more time in Girona then definitely try to make it. Shows the evolution of cinema. Sad the day I went the audio tour didn't work. It's three floors and a lot to read and see.

(Translated by Google) The museum gathers a large number of film instruments since the beginning of this: camera obscura, magic lantern, Chinese shadow structure, different models of cameras, etc. It is very interesting, although a review of the most current history of cinema is missed, which is not there.

Went there on my last day on holiday, it's fantastic! The receptionist spoke English to us even though we were in a Spanish area and the place is interesting, interactive and great for all ages.

Fantastic museum that tells the story of the moving image. Lots of interactive displays that are great fun for adults as well as children. I have returned here several times with friends and each of them have loved it too! Signs are written in Catalan, Spanish, English and French.

Absolutely brilliant museum. We thought we'd pop in to kill some time and found it totally absorbing. Spent 1.5 hours walking around the well laid out displays. Lots of interaction and historical notes in English. Great value for money, air conditioned throughout and lovely helpful staff.

  • 5/5 Daria t. 5 years ago on Google
Amazing place! As a film fanatic and an aspiring writer I enjoyed this museum enormously. And it was a great way to show my 5 y.o. son where the films and animation come from. You will find a lot of optical illusions here, as well as the old cameras of all kinds. Also all the information inside the museum is very educating and entertaining, even without an audioguide. But this is not a place for people, who don't like history or expect something about modern movies. This is a museum for true fans of the art of cinema. Fantastic experience!

  • 5/5 A M. 2 years ago on Google
Very interesting. Mostly covers pre-silent era and early stuff with some fan service paid to a few classics.

  • 5/5 Xiang J. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing museum rather about the entire technical history of movie-making instead of about the artistic aspects of movies. Covers everything from shadow theater 2000 years ago through the first photos and the first videos, to the Cine Nic projector, which was made in Barcelona. The best thing is that it has so much original equipment on show as well as a ton of well-made interactive experience. Don't miss it if you're visiting Girona.

Visting the place really took me back to the past, it was fascinating to see how the whole idea of making movies changed through time. And how the industry grow over time. There was a horror section where it was a bit "scary" didn't see much of that ofcourse i too was scared but other than that it was super nice time. I appreciate the effort all put in this museum to enlighten us. I Recommend you to go visit.

  • 5/5 Luis R. 1 year ago on Google

Incredibly interactive with a unique and and fascinating narrative of the history of cinema. This museum was the highlight of my trip to Girona and amongst the best museums I've ever visited. Highly recommended!!

  • 5/5 Heidi S. 5 years ago on Google
Really interesting museum with loads of interactive activities. We managed to spend the best part of a rainy afternoon here. It traces the history of cinema up to around the 80s but the old style films and camera trickery was so good to see and understand from a behind the scenes point of view. We don't have children but it looked really engaging for kids too.

Originally, I visited this place just to check out all turistic stops in Girona, but was amazed with what I found: it's not a film and celebrity museum, but a history museum about photography and motion pictures, with an extensive collection of relics going as far as the first shadow theatres in ancient China. Kids will love it.

(Translated by Google) A great trip to the origin of cinema. Illustrative, didactic and very interesting. You stay wanting more. A great collection. Hopefully someone continued with new contributions. Everything is very well explained and structured. Highly recommended visit if you go to Girona. It has been two very fruitful hours. Tomás Mallol did a great job. He died in 2013 and did a lot for film and photography. The audiovisual world is very attractive. And the museum reflects his passion for cinema. If you love the cinema, you cannot miss it. (Original) Un gran viaje al origen del cine. Ilustrativo, didáctico y miy interesante. Te quedas com ganas de más. Una gran colección.
