I'm sure that loads of people love this museum. I loved the building itself. The location is very nice, and there is plenty of space to move about without running into people or crowds. What I didn't love we're the modern and abstract art pieces, which was a lot of the collection. The philosophy of at least one artist, to reject the notion that you need any training to create beautiful art is nice in theory, but I don't care to look at a collection of canvases with spattered paint on them. I want to see art by people that have worked hard to perfect their craft, who show me their talent to create things that I (or a 4 year old child) cannot do. I'll take the Prado museum any day over the Guggenheim. I did love Bilbao, however, and the area where this meseum is located.

This one is very hyped up so when you go, you go with expectations. The ticket is not expensive. The building is an architectural wonder. The exhibitions were not as impactful or wonderful for us, to be honest. Some of the sculptures, unless made by Picasso, who would care about them? Lots of space hard to fill, you walk and walk without purpose. Quite nice outside actually. The shop is overpriced massively.

Universal accessibility could have been better in terms of signs to the restaurant and back, but if you ask for help, you’ll get it. Definitely a place to visit, you don’t have to be a self proclaimed art lover to appreciate the Guggenheim. They’ve got modern, contemporary stuff, but also great engineering and figurative art. Even walking around outside is wonderful, and I’d say it’s enough to tick the bucket list if you’re a jet setter, but do pop in if you’ve got the time. No regrets. The gift store has a few cool gadgets, too! We ate at the bistro. Great service, weird seating, a bit pricey, but what do you expect… Very tasty food, and all the more energy to continue enjoying the museum and whatever comes next! Recommended as well.

(Translated by Google) We visited it years ago and we liked it, more on the outside than on the inside because the type of art that is exhibited is not the one I like the most but it is still worth visiting. From the outside it is impressive, both the shape of the building and the little dog with flowers in the entrance, the sculptures at the back and the chandelier. The only downside is the little patience they have with young children on the part of some workers, they scold them in very bad ways.

The place that deserves to be visited at any time of the year. The architecture is amazing and unique. The exhibitions are of different authors and certain periods. Through the QR code, you can enter the application and benefit from an audio guide in all halls and galleries.

Architectural design of Guggenheim Museum is extraordinary both inside and outside. It's definitely the first building that prominently pops up in Bilbao. Take a very good look at everything inside this museum, because they are made by or for very precious people to this humanity. Additionally, the dog right outside this museum is totally made of natural flowers, which gives a really impressive touch already at the entrance of the museum. There are three floors in total, and you get an audio along with you so that you can listen to the story of every piece. Inside the rooms, it is not allowed to take pictures. I wouldn't recommend it either because you might forget to actually enjoy the museum 😉

It's €15 to get in, slightly cheaper if your a senior citizen. Works of art that say things I don't understand and I need to know who decides they are significant enough to be deemed a work of art. The Andy Warhol piece is nice so at least I can pretend to be educated now that I've seen it but not sure if that means I'm better for it. The exterior of the building is probably the best part.

One of the most emblematic cultural temples of the Iberian Peninsula. Designed by the architect Frank Gehry and one of the best-known museums belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim foundation in the world, Guggenheim Bilbao is located by the river in the distinctive region of Bilbao. And both inside and outside, we have art for all tastes: from the Puppy at the northern top of the building to the giant spider and the flowers full of colour right next to the river, the museum arouses our curiosity and all the good it brings. Inside the building we were greeted by several very friendly and helpful staff, who made our visit even more enjoyable. On the ground floor, several LED were spawning multiple message regarding love, hate, fears and everything that life is all about. Fascinating. The existing temporary exhibition had cars for all tastes and shapes, ranging from space cars to the famous cars from the 007 series, which so well motivated the secret agent within us. The store has a lot of wonderful memorabilia, from cups to art books. Recommendation for visitors: we noticed that tickets were cheaper when bought online (about 50% off). Before entering, we bought the tickets, via mobile phone, to access the museum about an hour after we bought them. As there are many things to do around the museum, we decided to go this way and saved 50% on the purchase of the tickets. Guggenheim Bilbao is a must-see when visiting Bilbao - and I would recommend it all the time!

The best thing about this museum is the design of the museum itself. Very impressive building. There were a few really nice pieces and the majority of the pieces were too modern for my taste. But when in Bilbao... Just pay a visit. You can go through the museum in 1,5 hours if time is an issue

Super cool modern museum! Bring your walking shoes tho, because there aren't that many benches. Interesting exhibits. There's a cute one on the 3rd floor where you go in as small groups and for this one you have to queue online (30-40 min tops) by reading a QR. If you get there early during your visit you can walk around until it's your time instead of just waiting for it if it's your last stop. Don't forget to bring headphones & your phone to listen to the guide, it works with QR Codes! If you're hungry you can leave to go to the bistro (they give you a band so you can come back in) it closes at 3.30 tho.

Amazing experience. Visit and walking around the gigantic museum, experiencing all the shades and reflections depending on the weather of Bilbao is an experience. As well as visiting the different exhibitions continuously researched by the Museum. The ground floor with the steel curves from Serra is a must see, no space could better fit the dynamics of the art.

I’m not a fan of modern art, so it is ridiculous that I give a low ranking. The building is worth of the visit, while the exposition (in my opinion) does not justify a trip to Bilbao. Again, I’m not an expert but compared to many other more famous museums, I think outside is much better than inside.

The building was already amazing on the outside, but love to walk through it too. The exhibitions were quite diverse, so I like some of it. However, other things did not fully suit my taste. Currently the second floor is not open, so a 1 hour visit was all we needed. Luckily the tickets were relatively cheap. Definitely worth a visit!

Huge fan of Gehry's constructions. Love most of his designs. It's worth going to Bilbao just to see this building and if you go inside, having retrieved your socks which have been blown off by the exterior, you will find the interior will blow them off all over again. Superb. Outstanding. 10 stars! Would revisit again and again.

We had a quick day in Bilbao so only got to see the Guggenheim Museum from the outside. But oh what a view. The building architecture design was stunning. It was fun to see a spider statue we found in other places around the world. The flower dog statue was fun. And we loved the reflecting structures. All about our visit to Bilbao on the RetiredAndTravelling blog.

The Guggenheim Museum is a must visit if you are visiting Bilbao. The Museum building designed by Frank Gehry is covered in Titatium and is a piece of modern art in itself. The Riverside and the area outside the museum have beautiful location and views. By night the area is very peaceful and inviting. Many great and important pieces of modern art are at display. Will take you about 3 hours to see all the display galleries, visit the store and see all the art displays in the Meseum grounds. There is a lot of walking to do and stairs to climb; so prepare yourself if you have small kids with you. ENJOY :)

The museum by Frank Gehry is beautiful from the outside. There was a special car exhibition went we visited and the collection was breathe taking. The cars were displayed along with works of art and architecture. The remaining art collection is the museum was good but nothing exceptional. The sculptures by Jeff Koons and Richard Serra were amazing.

The building itself is the star of the show. The galleries are set out on 3 levels. The artworks are large so it is surprisingly easy to get round them all. Level 2 was closed when we visited while a new exhibition "Motion" was being installed. Check opening hours as these vary through the year. Buy tickets online in advance for the best price

Very unique museum worth the visit. The world acclaimed facade is sufficient to attract visitors but the exhibits did not disappoint. An impressive structure of titanium, glass and limestone, with 3 levels in the building connected by curved walkways, titanium and glass elevators and stairways. The first and second levels host the temporary exhibits which are more avant garde while the third level houses the permanent exhibits. Any visitor does not have to be an art connoisseur to appreciate the unconventional museum and its interesting exhibits.

Such a beautiful architecture and modern art! It was the first attraction I’ve booked before going to Bilbao. I was impressed by the design and grandeur of the art around the museum and of the building itself. There is a bit of wait for the light room but it’s definitely a must! Couldn’t recommend this more. 5/5

It has the name but does not live up to its fame. The architecture from the outside is beautiful. On the inside it is quite plain and cold. The collection is disappointing for a museum like this and you have to get in a virtual waiting line to visit the infinity mirrored room which takes forever. I suggest go scan the QR first (on the 3rd, visit the 2nd and 3rf floor and probably then it will be your turn for 1 minute in the room. The staff is without exception unfriendly, uncaring or uninterested at best. The cloak room is a mess, they better install lockers. Of you buy your ticket online you will save 2 euros. You can most usually do this for a time slot only 15 minutes after buying.

Unique experience, both art and architecture. Worth visiting and spending a few hours to explore. Part of the exhibition is outside so having a good weather would be nice. Lower rating as the Gift shop is extremely overpriced, you can barely find any item that is less than 20 euro.

Extraordinary museum of modern and contemporary art, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. The museum was inaugurated in 1997 and has become a popular tourist attraction. It is credited with playing a major role in the revitalization of Bilbao, transforming it from an industrial city into a major cultural destination. The Guggenheim Bilbao is famous for its unique and striking architecture. The building is made of titanium, limestone, and glass, and its curved forms have been compared to fish scales or boat with sails. The building itself is considered a work of art, and it has become a symbol of Bilbao. It will take at least 3 hours to tour the exciting exhibition in the museum.  During the winter season, it is quite cold in the museum, so you should keep that in mind when choosing clothes.  The museum has a toilet and cloakroom for visitors.  There is also a souvenir shop, but the souvenirs are expensive and not at the museum level. The ticket price is €15 per person and tickets can be purchased online. It is also necessary to choose an appointment, that is, the day of arrival at the museum

Frankly speaking disappointing. Great building with terrible finishing. Walls and floors are badly done. I must admit that modern art is something I do not understand. Whole level devoted to Picasso is something. I'd say the place is spacious with interesting gift shop.

So I don’t know where to start! The building itself from outside is gorgeous fabulous!! The area around is pretty and peaceful also nice for pictures 5 out of 5 Now the negative thing I don’t know if we had a bad exhibition or it’s like always like this but the modern art exhibition is just ugly and has absolutely nothing, I don’t get the modern art and I also saw the people who visited it where also more likely surprised about everything inside! And they took pictures like myself cuz I mean to look interested in it Overall if you have time and it’s to cold or to hot outside go inside and sit on a bench for 15 Euro and look outside or wait for another exhibition otherwise spend the time around the Guggenheim museum because the outside is a 10/10

Spent sometime photographing the building in the evenings, and back inside in the morning watching the light moving across the building. The artwork probably lots of people can’t relate, but they are first rate. A few pieces you walk on by like a whole room of this (?!) and then wander back to look a little closely, it does have inner message. The discourse (9 color blobs) in the Warhol room for example, is really meaningful but looks haphazard which explains why the artist piece wasn’t well received in the beginning of days and for us the casual walk by tourists. You have to have some imagination to appreciate them. And the world has lots of people who are alphabetical. The video of the witch, Tremble Tremble, I had a nice nap in there and woke up thinking this is powerful stuff! A woman playing God, but yeah it’s supposedly a powerful witch playing disturbances at the judgement podium. But art is subjective, no? I just loved the hands curtain waving wrapping around the audience, you feel like she is really got a grasp over this, can’t escape her! I loved it. Just one show room was closed for prep. Bummer!

With the exception of one of the exhibitions I thought the art was the building itself. The rest was a distraction from it. What an amazing piece of engineering. Wonderful to see and touch and walk around. So different from anything else you will likely see in this part of the world. Unfortunately you need to pay the 19Euro to walk around it. Enjoy the curves and the large cavernous open spaces. If I was going to do Bilbao again, I would fly in go to the Guggenheim and fly right back out again in a day. My opinion only of course, but the Guggenheim really was the only thing that made the trip worthwhile. Be careful as you walk the streets around the city too. I had my mobile phone stolen from me, broad daylight. That might have tarnished my view of the city itself no doubt, but not the Museum. Like I said, get there, enjoy it and get out.

I love the place from the outside: the building, Maman, the mist show, water... but I must say that I was expecting more when I went it. Maybe it was just a bad timing with the exhibitions? I have to say that I visited it every day while I was there, I was fascinated with Maman, lighting, mist show and the beautiful bridges next to it. Definitely worth visiting and get to know the art and culture of amazing Basque people.

Worst museum I’ve ever been in. No permanent collection to speak of, the Roaring 20s section was mostly fashion. The best things were movies and shorts, Fritz Lang and Josephine Baker, which you can find for free online. Save yourself the €18! Photos are representative of the low quality art. The architecture is amazing of course, take some photos outside for free!

The Guggenheim was an engaging museum for us and our 10 year old son. The architecture inside and out is a wonder to behold all on its own. The modern art was large in volume and well presented. The special exhibition on architecture and cars I thought was going to be predictable but provided a preview of the future and transportation opportunities.

Museum is really cool outside. Despite it was built in 1997, it is still impressive and modern. In terms of exhibitions - let’s say we saw temporary one with autos and it was great, but if it was not there, our visit would be disappointing. Great pictures of the building you could make from the bridge.

Beautiful museum, in a fantastic setting with some iconic artworks. We came here during the Easter weekend when it was pretty busy - despite that, it didn't feel too crowded and we could get round and see everything easily. The exhibitions we saw were good but not all amazing - however the awesome permanent pieces outside and the architecture of the building made up for it, and the huge metal plates in there are also very impressive. Well worth a visit, even when the exhibits aren't right up your alley.

The place is massive and beautiful with lots of sculptures and arts. Inside the museum is a bar and bistro, where you can get a bite and have a rest. Near the spider sculpture, a lady that takes beautiful pictures of you in an old fashioned newspaper cover p kinda print out, set up a stand there, anyone going there should definitely get their pictures taken by her.

One of the best art museums I've been to. The architecture is worth a visit in itself, and if you don't make it inside you can enjoy the art outside, including the charming Puppy and the hourly steam coming out by the river. The permanent exhibition include some of the world's most famous artist. The museum is not very large, so it doesn't feel overwhelming to make it through all of the exhibitions in a few hours. An added bonus when I found an anonymous art work paying tribute to the Ruben Östlund film 'The Square' in the permanent exhibition area.

A fantastic museum in an up-and-coming city with much character. Great collection, especially of sculptures, with designs, forms and movement as fascinating as that of the museum's architecture itself. The Guggenheim was one of the three highlights of my weekend trip to Bilbao --the other two being a concert I flew in to watch, and the great food/ambiance of this city that reinvented itself from its industrial roots.

It is a Guggenheim museum. Enough said. ? Can't be any more top art than this. And the building itself is of course magnificent.

Amazing space, volumes and lighting! Exhibitions inside are all worth a look, although it is highly likely that not all inspire you. The whole tour (unless you stop at every pace) takes between two and three hours. Lots of abstract and modern art!

An art museum that is itself also a sculpture—a building that rejuvenated a city in decline. Hailed as the most influential work of architecture in the second half of the 20th century, Frank Gehry’s groundbreaking contemporary art museum was commissioned in the early 1990s to reinject life and cultural vitality into the once-thriving port of Bilbao, northern Spain. Its doors opened in 1997. Perspectives on a city. The Canadian-born US architect made full use of the site’s industrial urban context and its riverside location: from one perspective, with the city as a backdrop, it presents right angles and windows, combined with stone; from another view, with the Nervión River in the foreground, more fluid, undulating shapes harmonize with the surrounding water. In outline, the structure alludes to a ship, with curved panels suggesting sails, its titanium-clad exterior changing color according to the light and weather conditions. A metal flower adorns the highest point. With 20 galleries on three levels, the massive structure combines titanium, glass, and limestone in an audacious experiment with volumes and perspectives. All the galleries converge on a large central atrium, which acts as the organizing heart of the museum. Gehry’s masterpiece has redefined Bilbao, bringing not only visual and cultural impact but also millions of visitors—and with them, considerable economic growth.

The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is definitely worth a visit. The uniqueness of the architecture, with its undulating movements, is very impressive. The museum was created in 1997 by Frank O. Gehry. Unfortunately, we were only able to see the building from the outside, but the art exhibitions inside are definitely worth a visit.

Amazing museum with a lot of art. And pretty low entrance cost, but cheap tickets come to the costs of others. Dear Gugggenheim, It is admirable that a proper wage to all employees remains an art. Giving your employees or people that work for you a proper salary. In these times that should not be such a bold or brave thing to do, should it? Cheers! P.s. The temporary collection on the 2nd floor is closed until 22th of October.

Great place, perhaps the best Guggenheim around the world. The construction of this museum was a breaking point for Bilbao's city. Extremely recommended if you visit this town...

Love this place! Since my first visit in 2005, the area around the museum has been developed into the most wonderful park to spend a few hours taking in this marvelous art museum.

Architectural wise, it is definitely worth a visit. When it comes to the art shown inside, I think it's fair to say that it is easy to see that there are different tastes. For me, there is no doubt that I prefer the old grand Masters and Painters compared to what I saw here.

Great to visit woth some excellent pieces of contemporary art. Serra is a high light. Do not bother to buy online your ticket as it is only 2 euro difference

Wonderful collection of art. Just as great as seeing the art inside is taking in the architecture of the building itself and the grounds surrounding. There is a bridge right next to it that has been painted by artists it's a great place to get some photos of the city and river.

Unique shaping and design defines this museum at the heart of Bilbao. It is tidy, clean, spacious and with good indications. It changes the content to be displayed. On-line booking is cheaper than on-site. <18 years old do not pay. Prices are ok. Unlike other museums in the basque country, child-entertainment not available: you need to entertain yourself your kids while walking the museum 😅

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a beautiful designed museum and the outside is part of the art experience of seeing how the light shines over the building during the day. The design by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry is a masterpiece. A must see is the Richard Serra installation, The Matter of Time on the ground floor with a viewpoint on the 1st floor.

Had to wait a little in line, but it went faster than I expected. The museum is huge! I didn't look up the museum, so I didn't know what to expect, so I was quite surprised seeing all kinds of art (from paintings to extremely exclusive cars (1 in the world!)). Definitely worth a visit!

  • 5/5 Michail K. 1 year ago on Google
Very unique architecture and loved to hear that the famous puppy is regularly planted in different ways with plants. Loved the exhibition on motors and movement in Summer 2022. Best check which temporary exhibition they have as this was the highlight for me. Also liked some of the installations on the ground floor The permanent modern art on the top floor wasn't for me, but depends on your personal preferences.

  • 5/5 Akhil J. 1 year ago on Google
The structure and design of the museum is beautiful. Make sure to get earphones so that you can listen to the audio recordings on your phone. The car collection containing some of the most iconic cars was my favourite part.

  • 3/5 L&R D. 1 year ago on Google
It is important to know that I am not an art connoisseur.....The museum itself is a very interesting building, inside and out. But I expected much more from the collection. There is relatively little art for the exhibition area (and then by relatively unknown artists). Most liked is the mobility department, with the exception of a movie about Indian dances which looks more like a travelogue that is regularly seen on TV, and especially the cars department. Here were a few unique (beautiful) specimens on display. A very large room with curved rusty steel plates, also seen on a construction site, was a waste of space. It was noticeable that people spend little time in the museum and were out relatively quickly.

It is rare these days for one of the world's premier destinations to live up to such hyped expectations. The Guggenheim stunningly proved the exception. I would recommend 2 visits if you have time, one day time, the other in the evening, to fully appreciate the contrast. While certainly not overpriced for what it offers inside, there is a great deal of enjoyment from circling the whole building from the outside. While u can book in advance and beat the queues, waiting time is typically no more than 10 minutes, even on the more busier times of early evening.

Came here on a Monday Morning. It was relatively empty. No wait, got tickets and in we went. The top floor was closed for construction, so had to knock them down a star. Shouldn’t charge full price if 1/3rd of the museum isn’t open. Some cool exhibits. Ours was all cars themed, so worked for us. I would not recommend traveling a long distance for this museum. But it was fun regardless of the long trek.

Absolutely stunning architecture. And gorgeous outdoor displays. I just wish I’d had more time to visit the inside and spend time with the exhibits. (The company I was with were more interested in satisfying their belly hunger) Next time I’ll be coming with at least a day to spend here!

The building feels dizzy! This museum is fantastic, full of interactive art that makes the entire experience surprising and unexpected. It’s a bit tricky to move around but that’s part of the charm. We were lucky enough to see a car exhibition and we saw the first ever invented car. It was without a doubt one of the best museums I’ve ever been.

  • 5/5 Noor S. 1 year ago on Google
Just wow! The Guggenheim one is the most stunning museums I have ever visited, and probably one of the best in the world. The outside of the museum is incredibly beautiful, and you can easily spend the entire day just admiring the intricacies, details, and thought put into the architecture. The artwork featured inside the museum is relevant, thought provoking, and equally beautiful. I highly recommend this place! We didn’t have any trouble buying tickets at the door, however we went on a weekday so that was probably why. If you are going during high season (in the summer) you should probably consider purchasing your ticket in advance. :)

Definitely worth a visit to Savoury the modern art pieces - huge and sometimes perplexing and raising the question what is Art? Or is it the sublime difference between madness and sanity. The exhibits are many acclaimed artistes and have the intrigue about Art and technology in creating such masterpieces. The building itself is amazing with its curves and arrangements making you wonder how it is all brought to execution from conception. It is an architectural masterpiece with the material and gapes. Mystery, Art, technology to wonder and find new ways to enjoy beauty!

The museum itself is amazing. The permanent exhibitions and installations, both inside and out, are really cool and the architecture is so different and definitely worth coming to see even if not buying a ticket for a visit. It’s easy to buy tickets in advance and you’re not expected to be right on time for your slot. Inside the museum you can leave your jacket and large bags in the wardrobe for free. Whether you enjoy the exhibitions on display… well, that’s up to you - but you can’t fault the museum for anything!

Amazing architecture. I would recommend you come to the opening time, when are not so many people. Very interesting souvenir shop on the ground floor with you can visit without a ticket. Enjoy.

One of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. The Matter of Time by Richard Serra is truly fascinating, as well as the Puppy by Jeff Koons in front of the museum. Although I do not personally like all of the artists that are presented in the museum, the breadth of the collection does not fail to impress, and there is definitely something here for everyone. If you are in Bilbao, I would strongly recommend visiting this. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

  • 4/5 Bryce G. 11 months ago on Google
The Bilbao Guggenheim is a sight on its own the inside is filled with plenty of styles of art. I don’t think it will suit everyone but you should definitely get tickets online if you’re planning a visit. Also, make sure to have at least half a day to explorer the museum. The digital guide is sufficient.

As is often the case, viewing contemporary art is bit of a mixed experience. We loved the stuctural iron art forms on the ground floor and on particular the different sensory experiences of walking through them. The west highland terrier covered in plants at the front of the building was impressive too.

Bilbao was one of the stops for our cruise (August 2022). I didn't go inside because I'm not a big fan of modern art, but the design of the building is the main reason I visited (there's a building near my job that was designed by the same architect that has a similar roof pattern). There are some sculptures outside to see as well.

  • 5/5 Dorian W. 9 months ago on Google
An amazing museum, the building itself is a piece of art. The exhibits are displayed to great effect with plenty of room for viewing each picture. The Time structures were my personal favourites, it's rare to find something so massive inside, weird feelings of distorted volume, space and time when walking through them.

We really enjoyed the visit of the Guggenheim museum. The entrance of 18€ per adult is high but every Euro valid. We startet from the third floor and went down. The visit will take at minimum 2 hours of you just walk through the museum without a lot of stops. Some impressions attached

It is always difficult if you can post pictures from a museum because it will never beat the live experience. Just visit the exhibitions and explore. For me a wonderfull trip. We spend 2h with 2 kids aged 11 and 14. Without kids I would definitely be there longer.

As an architect and after studying this museum and analysing the circulation during my academic years, finally I was able to live the experience and to feel the materials. Bilbao is very beautiful, charming and clean. I feel like living in this city for a year or two. I will come back soon!!

Went there 3 or 4 times for different exhibitions. Loved it a lot. The interior is amazing, and it felt big, but super cozy at the same time. You have enlighten place to breathe and to relax, to walk.

This museum is awesome! The exhibitions were great, but only the building itself is worth the visit, outside and inside. The staff was also kind, and the museum was full (August holiday time), so it is good to buy tickets in advance, directly in their website.

  • 4/5 Anna T. 7 months ago on Google
Beautiful building and premises. Definitely worth seeing from outside. Unfortunately we were not big fans of the exposition inside. Way too expensive for what you get to see. If you’re not a fan of weird art and doubting to go, don’t do it. The cafeteria is nice, tasty options.

Amazing space that's filled with rolling exhibitions. Art is simply breathtaking, Building itself is amazing. Great Location by the river, easy to find and dominates Riverside.

Definitely the best experience for culture and art in Bilbao. Even though we took young children it was entertaining enough for everybody with famous artists and exhibitions that make you think, reading books for the young ones, and audio descriptions for older ones! Everything is beautiful inside and out.

  • 3/5 Stan H. 7 months ago on Google
The outside of the building is spectacular. The scale of the permanent exhibits they have are enormous, and they are spectacular, too. The second floor was closed off, and I found the permanent exhibits to be very few for the size of the museum. The quality was definitely there. The quantity was lacking. I left wanting more.

So much fun! You don’t have to be an art expert to appreciate the experiences shared here. Even my husband got into the exhibits. The attached bar was convenient to wait out the rain before we left.

Unique experience. The beauty of the building’s architecture is best viewed from atop the hill by taking the funicular. Get a local Baric card to get to the hill Mount Artxanda which you can also use to get around the city. The building is a masterpiece ❤️ inside, you can easily spend the day looking at the exhibits and admiring the design. So much to see, learn and experience. It’s a must visit item if you are in Bilbao. Suggest you book to go earlier in the morning to avoid the rush.

Get lost in the most unique museum, art is mixed with personal experiences from modernism, unique architecture, spiral ramp to dome, iron walls to loose yourself in the artist unique view of space. Works of Spain and international artist. Don't forget the happiness room

Modern, minimalist, or surrealist art is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like it, the Guggenheim is the place to see it (loved it personally). Even if that type of art is not your thing the Guggenheim is worth a visit as one of Bilbao's greatest landmarks (the staff is super friendly). We went on a weekday and there wasn't a big crowd which is also a plus.

  • 4/5 Keat C. 5 months ago on Google
I supposed everything that needs to be said about this iconic building is said. I must admit after reading and seeing pictures of the Guggenheim remotely, I set the bar too high. That said, it is still an overwhelming sight. I am just glad I am able to see it in person. If you come to Bilbao, a big part of that decision is because you want to see this. And the exhibits if they are to your taste.

I went to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the experience to see the structure was phenomenal. I have always heard about this place but to see it up close and in person was great. We were not able to go in because we did not know the hours of operation and we did not make prior arrangements. The pictures were fantastic!!

Did not think I was a modern art fan ... but the museum was great, outside and in. Good variety in collection (including Picasso and Warhol) and helpful audio system to guide as you walk through the displays. Highly recommend!

We had a great time while visiting the Museum inside and outside. I like it a lot, especially the architecture of the building. The exhibitions were also interesting and we dedicated time to each other, to see and to understand it. I totally recommend the museum. I would revisit it in future.

My visit to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao was a unique and inspiring experience. From the moment I saw the majestic curvilinear architecture of the building, I knew I was about to immerse myself in an exceptional world of art. As I stepped inside, I marveled at the diversity and ingenuity of the exhibits.
