A popular museum with different formats of artworks from Picasso. It’s a tourist hotspot so there was a long line outside the museum. I also had to wait to see each of the artwork after people moved on to the next one. The numerous collections could depict the career of Picasso. The audio guide, with a variety of languages, was helpful for me to learn about the historical, social context of the artworks. After the main exhibit, there’s also a exhibit to compare and explain how Picasso’s works could relate to some old artists. I spent a total of 1.5 hours to finish the museum, in which I listened to every single of the audio clip. You could carry your bag in the museum, but it’s required to carry it in front of your chest. Price: €7

One hears the Picasso name and instantly associates him with art. I can't say I fully know and appreciate his work, but it was until today's visit, that I was positive overall about some of his colourful abstract pieces. However, this visit to the Picasso Museum has made me decide that I DON'T actually like his works. I am sure he has his fans, but I find his pieces vulgar, aesthetically unpleasant, and uninteresting. Some of his art is not suitable for under 12s in my view. The museum venue itself is quite classy, but the outside queues are typically long. The rooms could be confusing for some people, and there seems to be a lack of a system to progress from one place to another in a logical manner. For me, the large crowds and queues are a case of the "Picasso brand" attracting the mainstream - but in the end, I found this visit a very damp squid experience and rather tasteless. It did nothing for me personally.

Awesome museum experience through audio, visual and experientially. This beautiful historic building was perfectly used to stage the walk through different phases of Picasso's art and life. With the audio guide and descriptions around, we could really immerse in the art. The crowd control was perfect, with not too many people inside. Would advise to buy tickets online in advance, and not to bring in any food items in your bag, else you will have to put it in the locker.

Without a doubt, one of the places you must visit when in Malaga. A wonderful collection of works not only by Picasso but also by artists who continued this art movement. Amazing paintings and sculptures from various periods of the artist's work. The works of others are also amazing and the time spent here will be one of the best in Malaga!

Housed in an old palace in the old town. A relatively small collection of works that were bequeathed by Picasso's daughter in law. Mostly minor pieces from each stage of Picasso's development, though with a strong selection of late paintings from the 50s and 60s. Not in the same league as the phenomenal collections in Paris and Barcelona, but worth a visit if you have a spare hour. Recommend buying an advance ticket online to skip the queues...

Great experience, an interesting museum, a must visit for all art lovers. Located in a palace from 16th century in the middle of the Old town. Collection offers good insight into Picasso's evolution. Good audio guide or you can download a free museum app. Tickets from 9€ but recommend to buy a combine ticket for both exhibitions. Free on Sundays afternoon.

Well maintained museum with a staggering amount of Picasso's originals. Virtually no copies are on display, so you won't see Guernica, for example. There is a permanent exposition of Picasso's paintings (they call it "Picasso Collection") and a temporary exposition (Picasso in photographs when I visited). Gift shop sells both neat trinkets (shirts, puzzles, mugs) and books or painting prints. There is a room with papers and markers where you can draw your own stuff and either take it with you for free or leave it there for others to see. Gets really crowded right after the opening hour, although the staff only lets people in in waves. I went in at 13:45 and while there was a sizable amount of people, it wasn't exactly "packed". Might be a good idea to buy a ticket online, which you can do, although the site is in Spanish only - then they'll let you in through a much shorter queue, often right away.

Gorgeous museum in an old palace. That said, most of the more popular paintings are held in other museums. This museum talks to you about Picasso’s story and legacy, with what feels like more artwork by others that were inspired by him than by the man himself. There is a curious area, “archeology”, where you get to see some ruins under the museum. Giving it 4 stars as there wasn’t as much Picasso as you’d expect from his museum.

4* it's my deposit to this place. I expected much more from visiting. As for this museum is ordinary, nothing special place... I am happy, that caught opportunity a free entrance. Because, If I had paid for visiting 9 euros, i would have been extremely sad. Notice, than every Sunday last two hours (in October 2021 from 16.00 to 18.00) - the entrance is free for everyone. And don't forget about a big queue before in this period of time 😁

A good number of minor artworks by Picasso are displayed. The exhibition is well structured and the audiobook is worth listening. Depending on schedule, you can also access temporary exhibitions with the same general ticket. The museum closes at 18h which is odd as it usually congregates visitors from around the world.

Interesting collection of Picasso paintings and sculpture. Don’t expect any of its main most famous work though. Pleasant to visit, except if you are surrounded by people listening to do the audio guide, which is not coming with headphones 🙉. The whole museum can be visited in one hour approximately.

🇨🇦 review here. This was a must see for me but I only arrived in the last hour it was open. It’s not a bit exhibit so that was enough time. I was lucky that it wasn’t busy so there was lots of space between people but there is nowhere to sit so prepare to stand all the time. You can get very very close to the paintings which is nice. The audio guide on your phone (with wifi) is great. There is an amazing sculpture where you can see Picasso’s fingerprints!

Very nice museum but don’t expect to see the most famous artworks of Picasso. They showcase sketches, paintings and sculptures. The museum is clean and well organized. We waited for 20 minutes to get in so I’ll recommend to book the tickets online to save some time. They also offer audioguide at the entrance, which is included to the ticket price.

Great place to spend time getting to know ancient history of the region. The museum has several floors. Each floor with a different exhibition. Mostly I enjoyed archeology. Though the third floor and terrace was close during my visit. I recommend the place for people seeking to know the history of the region better.

Booked on line, had to queue as we got there 20 minutes early. On line queue was shorter than those buying the ticket on the day. We did get in at the allocated time. Free audio guide. Fantastic building and setting for a museum. 19 euro for 2 people. We are not big art lovers, but we did enjoy the Picasso Museum in his home town. Don't forget you can also visit his birth place which is only a few minutes walk away from the museum(3 euro entry)

A well-curated selection of works housed in a beautiful building. Pieces on display includes oils, sketches, sculptures and ceramics. Tickets can be purchased online for €9. Audio guides are available, as well as an accompanying app. Be prepared to spend about an hour here.

Great museum with some of the best of Picasso's work. As he is from Malaga this has some very special pieces and really feels like a home collection. Great space and the museum has multiple language guides available. The staff speak very good English Spanish German & French. There was lots of support and some exhibitions vary as well as Picasso's collection. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area. You can save some time and by tickets on line and then you can directly enter the museum without visiting the reception desk area

Beautiful museum but not a very good experience all in all. Instead of offering free tickets online (especially during pandemics) they make you wait in a very crowded line for at least an hour, they also don’t let know people if they will be able to enter or not so a lot of people end up not making it into museum. Then they force you out of the museum 10 minutes before closing and don’t let you even walk slowly so you could see a few more paintings. They didn’t even let us use the toilet 5 minutes before closing even though it was 20 meters from the exit (???), the women guarding toilet looked apologetic so it must be some kind of rule which is absurd.

For any art lover, I would totally recommend this place. The way they have designed the exhibitions and the house selected tell a good story of Picasso life. And the world knows Picasso mostly for his cubist paintings, but I was really enchanted by his sculpture work, specially with metal. It was good. Recommend to take a ticket online (there’s a separate but very long queues) and they don’t allow water from outside, which is fair. But they should provide some water. The museum cafe is a joke with 500 ml bottle for 2 Euros.

The Malaga Picasso Museum is a museum dedicated to the work of Pablo Picasso in his hometown of Malaga. Built in 2003. Visited in August 2023, there are two queues at the entrance to the museum: those without tickets and those who bought tickets online. We were in a simple queue - we waited about 40 minutes, so I recommend buying online for a certain time. The museum is excellent, there are audio guides in many languages. A large collection of paintings, ceramics and sculptures. Two floors. Do not forget to visit the archaeological excavations on the basement floor - starting with the Phoenicians.... A must-visit

A fabulous museum with a very interesting permanent collection and some temporary exhibitions really worth visiting. If you’re a teacher, entrance is free but you need to show your teacher card. Bear in mind that you cannot enter with any kind of food or drink, if you have any you will have to leave your handbag in the cloakroom, which is free. Entrance includes an audio guide in any language, but the numbers that guide it are a little confusing. Still, there is enough information on panels and picture captions to understand and follow Picasso’s life and the evolution of his art.

Picasso was born in Málaga, left the town as a kid and never came back. Let's ignore this fact for a moment and enjoy the art 🤩 You can see pieces from all the periods of his creative output. Less known but equally beautiful paintings. If you're looking for Pablo's greatest masterpieces, you better go to Paris or New York.

Great collection. They have ~200 pieces from different times in his life (ranging across various styles). The collection isn't big, but big enough to really have time to admire the paintings individually. There was no queue when we visited ~1pm on a weekday in September, but best to order tickets online.

Small museum dedicated to Picasso in his hometown. Buy your timed tickets in advance because the line to buy at the door gets really long. The museum is beautiful as the artwork, which covers the span of the artists life. Our tickets included the special temporary exhibit of his sculptural works and was worth the additional few euros. I left with a new appreciation for the master innovator and rebel that was Picasso.

I was so much stunned of how incredibly could Picasso combine styles and approaches. One painting may depict a classical style portrait, whereas another one is a psychodelic delirium made out of a few peculiar strokes. Not to mention works out of wood, clay, metal, etc. The museum itself ain't that huge, but anyways worth a visit.

Probably the best museum on Picasso because you can see the development hé made during his carreer. Not the most famous paintings in the museum, but a lot of personal items. It was his own wish to have a museum in Malaga. Well. It is a great experience and worth the money and wait.

Love him or hate him this is a Wonderful exhibition of Picasso's work showing the man really did have a genius of a talent. Some surprising portraits that show not just abstract but the more conventional portraiture. I have my own opinion of Picasso he was a complex man his politics was dubious so was his attitude towards women but I'm pleased I visited this museum as it gave me a different perspective of the man.

Once in Malaga, you need to visit this Museum which covers the whole spectrum of creation of Pablo Picasso. Impressive setting and magnificent works of art. During high season period, you may encounter some waiting in line in order to enter. But you will be fully compensated by the remarkable feeling this place has to offer.

The Picasso Museum in Malaga is a fantastic experience, even if you're not an art expert. The diverse collection, informative guides, and accessible presentation make it enjoyable for all. Picasso's art comes to life, and the historic building adds to the charm. Don't miss it!

A beautiful museum with lots of art from Pablo Picasso. Recommend to buy the tickets before due to long waiting time. Biggest pieces from Picasso are here in the museum. But the museum could be a bit bigger. Audio guide is included and in many languages available.

  • 4/5 Michele H. 4 months ago on Google
Impressive. Make sure you start at Gallery 1 on ground floor LEFT of ticket office. We accidentally followed a group in front which went upstairs where Gallery 2 is. Signage is not clear. And office staff can get grumpy by the end of the day and don't explain where to go. Audio cassette machine is very good.

The only exhibition in Malaga that I thought was worth the time/money. A decent collection of Picasso, but I thought the real strength was in the echo area - some works of Picasso also but more interesting (for me) were the artists influenced by him. Some pretty mesmerising pieces. Do book your ticket in advance for a shorter queue.

  • 5/5 Elle L. 5 months ago on Google
We bought tickets in advance and still had to wait in the queue for about 20 minutes. It was worth the wait. I enjoyed seeing all the diversity in Picasso’s work. I learned a lot and would definitely go back again!

  • 4/5 Veronika H. 5 months ago on Google
Very nice cultural spot with a bunch of modern art. However, you must seek the most famous paintings from Picasso elsewhere (Madrid, probably). Nonetheless, this muzeum is good for any creative person seeking some inspiration. Moreover, during specific days and times the entry is free.

Finally, can visit this museum. Make sure you purchase the ticket before. The queue line was separated into two (with and without ticket). The museum is very well maintained. You can learn a lot of The story about Picasso and the collection.

Impressive museum. A great way to get to know Picasso's life and dive into his artworks. I'd highly recommend visiting when you're in Malaga. Note that it is best to buy tickets beforehand, otherwise there is a long queue.

Really interesting museum showcasing a range of Picasso's work. Busy on a saturday morning although we didn't have to queue for too long at 10am to get tickets. There is a free cloakroom. To get your items back from the cloakroom, you need to exit the building and go all the way back round to the entrance of the museum.

Great museum in the heart of Malaga... One of the main attraction for tourists when they visit this nice city... The entrance ticket is 9,5e to see all pictures and 12 if you want to see sculptures also...the wait time to entrance is about 10min...when you pay they bring you little dictafon on language you choose to listen about Picasso life and his pictures... The museum is on two floors and in few rooms... Inside there is always many tourists and sometimes you must wait for good picture and in my opinion it's better to come earlier because there is less people inside... In one room you can take picture like you are in Picasso studio.. All recommendations for visit and take some nice pictures and videos if you are in Malaga

Indeed a very nice musem to visit if you are near by (and even if you are not). Very stylish, well organized and truly dignified place on memory of genius Pablo Picasso. Maybe you do not find here all the biggest famous paintings, but still you can touch a spirit one of the biggest artist ever in maestro Picasso's home town.

Nice space even if it is a little bit crowded. It is inspirational, you don't need to be perfect or to draw perfect lines to create something interesting

Amazing, you can find both sculptures and paintings from him, and a lot of extra information through the portable guide. Would recommend! The waiting line was short for the high season and we bought the tickets online (there is a separate queue).

  • 4/5 Anvay B. 8 months ago on Google
Visited on a Spanish public holiday and didn’t see any line. Got an entry right away. They charge €9.5 to see paintings and €12.5 for also seeing sculptors. Chose whichever one you like. Paintings are about 40-50 probably. Unless you are into hardcore art and understand it, visiting this place is a check box exercise. Decide for yourself if you want to visit. I will put the utility for non art lovers at 50/50.

  • 5/5 Li-Or A. 1 year ago on Google
The big collection is organized in chronological periods with historical notes. It really helps understanding what drove and altered Picasso's work through the decades. Sunday afternoons are free, if you can stand the 40-min line.

A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours whilst in Malaga. You can immerse yourself in the life and work of Picasso, and the museum has it all beautifully presented. You have the option of an audio guide or you can wander at leisure and read the comprehensive information relative to each of his periods as you enter each room.

A whole museum full Picasso paintings and other creations. More than in Goya museum in Madrid. Probably no woman would like to be painted that way. The blue painting was my favorite--it's a guitar and vase on a table in front of the window. He did several with the same theme and this small one was most favored.
