Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife

Tourist attraction Museum Historical landmark

👍 This is definitely a cool spot to visit. I've been wanting to see the place after watching a Korean drama called Memories of the Alhambra (probably the reason why I added Granada to my travel list). Do plan ahead and get tickets online before you visit. There are some free areas where the ticket is... People often mention Alhambra, palace, tickets, ticket, visit, great,

This is definitely a cool spot to visit. I've been wanting to see the place after watching a Korean drama called Memories of the Alhambra (probably the reason why I added Granada to my travel list). Do plan ahead and get tickets online before you visit. There are some free areas where the ticket is not needed but if you want to see the palace you'll need to book a time and get the tickets a few months in advance. I was only able to get the general admission ticket by booking a month or so early since the palace tickets were sold out already. This place is really big so wear comfortable walking shoes! I spent a good amount of time walking around and taking pictures, you can probably spend a day here if you want. There's a lot to see so do give yourself enough time to enjoy!

Scamer, rude staff . We were a group of 120 person, and the staff of ticket box opened at 8:30. We had the entrance to palaces at 9:00am they delayed to pick up all tickets more than one hour , and they refused to enter to the palace, money stolen, non professional behavior, 120 persons who came with the expectation to see and enjoy the Alhambra experience, and they found stupid staff who scam our money. They decided give priority to a politic visit D.juanma moreno, & D. Muñez Feijó. We won't go back never.. They are so stupid!! Be aware if u travel in group.!! Estafa vegüenza Alhambra, personal mal educado, insensible, poco profesional.

Poorly organized ticketing and admission. A bunch of uniformed servicepersons asking same dumb questions. Entry with an ID only. And the ID is being checked Inside again and again.

I had to cancel my trip to Granada due to Covid . I informed the Patronato and they didn't let me change the dates nor offered a refund. It's a shame the lack of customer service. Specially in 2022.

Patronato is the only organization/attraction I've worked with in Spain does not have a cancel/refund (even partial) option due to current travel bans. Everyon else has been great! Patronato not at all. We can't go to Spain due to travel bans, but they aren't refunding or allowing us to move tickets to a later date.

The decoration consists for the upper part of the walls, as a rule, of Arabic inscriptions—mostly poems by Ibn Zamrak and others praising the palace—that are manipulated into geometrical patterns with vegetal background set onto an arabesque setting ("Ataurique"). Much of this ornament is carved stucco (plaster) rather than stone. Tile mosaics ("alicatado"), with complicated mathematical patterns ("tracería", most precisely "lacería"), are largely used as panelling for the lower part. Metal was also not present very mainly. Similar designs are displayed on wooden ceilings (Alfarje).Muqarnas are the main elements for vaulting with stucco, and some of the most accomplished dome examples of this kind are in the Court of the Lions halls. The palace complex is designed in the Nasrid style, the last blooming of Islamic Art in the Iberian Peninsula, that had a great influence on the Maghreb to the present day, and on contemporary Mudejar Art, which is characteristic of western elements reinterpreted into Islamic forms and widely popular during the Reconquista in Spain.

The Alhambra is an amazing place and a must see when in Spain. We were approached at the gate and offered an official guide. We wouldn’t normally do this but in this case it was one of the best decisions we’ve made on this trip. We had a private guided tour for 4 hours. Our guide Simon Doherty was knowledgeable, entertaining and made the whole place come alive for us. It wasn’t cheap but definitely worth the money and a great experience.

Such marvellous buildings left for the posterity by Muslim rulers of Spain. (There is no dominant but God) “ولا غالب إلا الله” is the sentence which you will find all over Al-hambra engraved on most of the monuments. Muslims have left but God is there. Impressive wonder of Andalucia, going around Alhambra, one is amazed with the dedication and the commitment those legends who built it achieved. "No Dominant but God" is the phrase, you will see most when visiting the palace and being the symbol of the first empire in Andalucia it was repeated everywhere you walk while inside the wonder. Moving to the "Generalife" on the other side of Alhambra is a true gardening experience something you never seen before and you feel like a true prince and princess while walking through those well organised gardens "The Gardens of Andalus" are well known worldwide.

A defy anyone not to be impressed by La Alhambra - beautiful gardens and palaces are stunning. We visited in November so it was probably quieter than normal - lucky us…it was a beautiful day. Good walking shoes are recommended as there is a lot to see - book in advance whenever you’re going.

The purchasing policy of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife does not, in my opinion, protect the rights of people who come to Granada to visit the Alhambra. There is no reason why the tickets should be nominative. In my case, I could not be in Granada on the day for which I bought my tickets because I broke my leg. I wanted to give my ticket to a friend. However, it was not possible for my friend to enter the Alhambra with my ticket.

I purchased ticket to Alhambra, but they didn’t let me in to Nasrid Palaces saying I am late. But in fact I entered the complex before scheduled time. I tried to explain it to them, but they don’t even speak English. Totally dissatisfied.

Beautiful architectural site to easily spend a few hours admiring the clash of buildings with landscape. You can feel the power of the location as you walk through it, as well as the marvelous decor of every inch of the property

Get the earliest ticket and be 1st in line if you want a great shot without a ton of people. Then you can take your time for the rest of the sites.

Outstanding. The city vibes are charming and super positive. One of the best places to visit. A must see, and worth visiting again and again. I love this place! … The place started in 1238 by Muhammad (the first) Ibn al-Ahmar, the first Nasrid emir and founder of the Emirate of Granada, the last Muslim state of Al-Andalus where It was built on the Sabika hill, an outcrop of the Sierra Nevada which had been the site of earlier fortresses. The most significant is the royal palaces by Yusuf I and Muhammad V.

Really enjoyable visit. Loads of great views inside and out the palace. The place is dripping in history. Kids even enjoyed it and normally they’ll be moaning (the did a little in the heat but enjoyed the drink fountain stops) I would definitely advise booking in advance, the place was sold out we could see on arrival. Will definitely pass a good few hours. We are inside too (separately reviewed). Photos credited to my wife.
