Of course the Cat City has to have a Cat Museum. It doesn't however live up to being described as a must visit. At 3 Ringgit, it's not expensive. As a light place to visit it is fine. Has a varied mix of items on display, from your plush store Garfield to taxidermy. Desperately needs curation and updating, to it's potential of being an interesting museum, and worthy of "Kuching Must Visit" label.

Cat Museum. Located within Kuching Municipal. Cheap entrance fees, full of historical, facts and pictures of cats all around the world. Good place for kids. Not crowded, ample parking space. There's a cafeteria inside. A must for cat lovers 😘😻😹.I like.

A novelty for sure. If you love cats you’ll love this place. I don’t like cats and I still enjoyed myself and learnt some new things. It’s a true A-Z of all things cats different stories, countries, artwork, figurines and stuffed ones. Plus it’s practically free, 3RM entry but you get a rubber souvenir bracelet. The government building its housed in is worth visiting too.

Good day from the Cat Museum of Kuching, a word that means cat in Malay. If you know what kitsch is, this is the most kitsch place that I've ever visited. If you don't, Google it and take a look at the attached pictures! Memorable, probably for the wrong reasons!

The best place to visit in Kuching for the cat lover. Many items and collections have been displayed with the cheap entry ticket price. Just the thing they don't have here is a live cat.

Very beautifully maintained collection of paintings, photos, postcards, ceramics and statues from various epochs and origins, some being for sale at reasonable prices. As of our visit on February 20th, the museum is however no longer free of charge, but takes a nominal ticket price of RM3 for adults and RM2 for children, cash only. Just so you don't stand here empty handed. Overall, the museum is small but features a ton of exhibits, so you can easily spend 30-60 min here and then enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

When I was in Kuching, I went to this museum. It is so wonderful place. There are many types of cats and all of them are really hilarious and adorable. Miss this place.

The Kuching Cat Museum is a delightful homage to feline enthusiasts, providing a captivating glimpse into the world of our furry companions. The extensive collection of cat-themed artifacts, sculptures, and memorabilia is a testament to the universal fascination with these graceful creatures. However, to further enhance the visitor experience and keep it engaging for repeat visits, it might be a great idea to periodically refresh the collection with new exhibits, interactive displays, or even rotating art installations. By doing so, the museum can continue to captivate the imaginations of cat lovers while ensuring its relevance and allure for years to come.

Very disappointing place. Definitely need to drive up and there is no entrance from the basement covered carpark. Will still need to enter from the first level. There are no cats at all and it’s just sculptures and paintings. The entire building has nothing else except this cat museum and a gallery for the development plans of Kuching. There are no activities at all in the cat museum. Totally not worth a trip.

    1. The price for the ticket is only RM3.00. 2. For cat lovers, this is a must go place! 3. Do take note that there are no live or actual cats inside. 4. A very historical place to introduce to you about cats. Not only the type of cats in general, but also the cats in pop culture, music, painting, arts, etc. 5. The place is very well designed and unique. I don't think you can find any places like this in Malaysia except here. 6. The place is a great representation of Kuching, Sarawak as a whole! 7. Last but not least, you can get souvenirs here as well as varied from keychain, magnet, doll, toy, earring, etc.

Kucing/Kuching or a cat 101 center. Learn everything about our most beloved pet in this museum. Packed with information and collection about cats from all around the world. Quite impressive collection and archive. But sadly, it's not well organized or not presentable. Just wall after wall of out dated information and display. You can finish all your tours in just under 20 minutes. The entrance fee for an adult is RM3 and for kids is RM2. Honestly, it's not worth it. Please restructure the whole exhibition and be more organized.

For RM3 (as a foreigner), you can visit the museum that features all things cat and get a free keychain. Cat lovers surely must love it! Some of the things displayed (like pictures) are already old and not very well maintained, though. It's located a bit far from the town center, so you might have to go there using a taxi/Grab car. A plus: it's located on a hill that offers a magnificent view of the town from above. Also: the staff were friendly!

This museum is so boring. It just featured some cat statue, trinkets, preserved or maybe fake one. Entry is rm3 per person. Useful to waste some time if you ran out of places to visit or the weather not permitting. As people say, you came to Kuching but you didn't visit a cat museum? It is however located in a unique council building which is worth on its own visit.

Love the whole experience 🥰😍 First, the visitor parking is behind the building. The reception will show you where to go. Please bring cash because the souvenir inside the building do not accept visa 😆 You don't wanna to miss it. (and of course you must pay with cash to enter the muzium)

There aren't any live cats or cat cafes here so if you’re looking to pet a few kitties you shouldn’t come here as it has only exhibits. Entrance to the museum is free. However, a small fee of RM3 will be charged if you wish to use a phone camera, RM4 for a digital camera or RM5 for a video camera. Don’t get confused with the location if you are going there by yourself or while using a GPS. The Cat Museum is located on the ground floor of Kuching North City Hall HQ Building, and not a museum building of its own.

Some photos, toys, history, geography of cats displayed. For the entrance fee charged, it is acceptable display. The landscape view from outside is wonderful. If it is cloudy, lucky to walk around.

Since I am not a cat lover by any means but don't get me wrong, I don't hate them either. So I cannot recommend to everyone. For me, it is mediocre and it doesn't excite me at all. It is an okay experience. BUT for cat lovers, this is a must place to visit. It is like a bible for cats. For travelers, it is one of the checklist that you must go if you ever come to visit Kuching but just don't put your hopes up too much for this place and you will be just fine.

One of the must visit museums when you are in Kuching city. A lot of knowledge / information related to cats is here. An interesting arrangement. There is a gift shop inside the museum. Plenty of parking available. Reasonable entrance ticket prices for visitors. We spent about 1 hour in this museum. Friendly and nice staff and helped us find our way into the museum.

You will find this place interesting if you are a fan of cats. There are no real cats though, just tons of articles, statues and novel paintings and history of cats in general. In my opinon, coming once will suffice especially if it is your first time in Kuching, the land of cats. Price for entry is really cheap RM 3, and although its a bit far from the city area, grab is just a call away. Perfect for kids, family too.

An underrated museum since it located at the government office. Cheap entrance and there's a small cat accessories near the entrance door. Cat lovers really need to come here! If you're in Kuching, don't forget to drop by okay! 😉 Oh, you also can view Kuching from up here. A great view instead.

Personally view that RM3.00 per entry for an adult is very affordable price for everyone. In this museum, you have the chance to see some of the cat related collections. Maybe more suitable for those cat lovers.

The Kuching Cat Museum in Malaysia is a museum located in Kuching, Sarawak. It is also known as the "Cat Museum." This museum is the only one of its kind in the world, dedicated to showcasing art, culture, and history related to cats. Inside the museum, visitors can explore various cat-themed exhibitions, including artworks, artifacts, photographs, and sculptures. There is even a cat cafe within the museum where visitors can interact with adorable cats. If you're a cat lover or have an interest in cats, the Kuching Cat Museum is a fascinating destination that allows you to delve deeper into the world of cats.

Firstly, there are no live cats in this museum. But it is still quite a fun place to visit. Tickets are relatively cheap and theres *a lot* of cat based photos, newspapers, statues, trinkets, as well as facts about cats in Malaysia. The souvenir shop is also pretty nice, and quite a few of the exhibits are for sale (but those are very pricey!).

Parking space in a distance and the displays were less than impressive. Suggest to include more interactive display or having some light activities or speaker to engage visitors.

A nice place to visit. Amazed by the vast collections of things relate to the cat, portrait, statue, keychain, album, etc etc. You can get to know all the history, knowledge on cats. 🐱 Just a humble suggestion here, if the organiser could have few friendly & lovely cats moving around in the museum would be perfect. 🐱 Worth to come and learn about cat's stories.

This cat museum is amazing as it showed variaties of cat in the world and how cat involved in human life. (in different culture) Besides, it also exhibit many cat statues that show how their body posture show their feeling/mood. Last but not least, the museum is situated at the ground floor of state government buidling and their ticket is cheap, RM3 for adult (12 yrs old n above) and RM 2 for children .

Cat-astrophic Imagine your slightly strange cat obsessed hoarding relative died in the early 80’s and instead of doing the decent thing and bagging everything up, taking it to the tip and deep cleaning their bungalow, you instead carried out their will and opened a museum. Welcome to Kuching Cat Museum. Tired, dated, slightly smelly, slightly depressing, very weird and occasionally hilarious. Go with friends ironically and you can make a fantastic time looking at the 5kg bags of cat food on display along side a picture of Anne Frank (she owned a cat) If you’re tight on time and want to go to an actual good museum then please skip it and go to the Borneo Cultural Museum but if you’re going to get your John Waters on and enjoy this then you’ll probably already know from the review that this place is for you. Please retain your low expectations at all time. (Oh and yes the view from the museum is great)

Kuching is called the catcity so it's rather strange that i didn't visit it's famous catmuseum as well with my wife Liza Ranggi/alias Indu Athena on FB; (Petronas Bintulu) and since she is a catlover & has cats at home its preculiour that we never went here before.but after she turned away from our marriage(17 months ago), due to indifference on a small argument in 2.019 that's not likely to happen any time soon.as a Follower of God she's a true Christian indeed.after the reviews and have looked upon the pics from locals and toerists i recon it's a place for catlovers to visit even when you are a doglover yourself.**********

A vast collection of all cat things. Including famous cartoons of cat. Though there is no Tom (from Tom and Jerry)😜 Loving every second of it. The building which houses the cats sits on top of the hill looking down spectacular view of Kuching City.

A must visit attractions for cat lovers 🙀👍 The museum contains cat's history in different races, and also cat's real dead body maintained nicely inside the glass with control temperature. Lots of cats statue and also collections. The whole museum it's not big, rather small but lots to read and see. Perfect for kids 📖😊 Entrance was reasonable and cheap, Rm 3/pax. Worth it 👍👍

The Cats Museum is great, cheap entry fees and various of cat stories and relation with this city. But what i dont understand is the parking location and entry point. Why the visitor have to park at the back of the building and have to walk up to the fromt and up the ramp to main entrance? There is a lift at the basement parking but only for staff?

  • 3/5 Debora H. 11 months ago on Google
An okay experience. It's located very far away from other places, so it cost quite money for the transport rather than the ticket itself (only 3RM / adult). The inside is rather small, and the collection seems old. It'd be great if they update the content with some modern stuff (since there was no history meaning from most of their collection). The aircon also not working very good inside, it's not as cool as outside the museum. So, i'd rather sit outside to cool off rather than inside the museum while looking around. Maybe it's a trick to make people leave as fast as possible? But why? The outside is free and it's even cooler.
