One of my favorite places in Catalonia. This sea city features everything you need for a fun and relaxing weekend. Beaches are clean and spacious with Tiki bars, and restaurants all around the town. The views are absolutely amazing no matter where you go. Going up hill is a fantastic experience whether by train or on foot. Every step you take has a view. Although there are few ruins left of the ancient fortress, you still can appreciate the walls and towers which surround it. There's a nice little restaurant half way up the top of the hill, and another one where the light house stands at. There's also a cute museum with nice little things found in the area. Don't miss taking a picture with Ava Gardner's sculpture and the little chapel behind it and on the way back you can follow a different path with stone covered streets which lead to all the traditional restaurants and shops and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes to climb up the stairs along the walls.

This is a very well protected wall which was used to protect the citadel for Tossa de Mar. You can walk all along this wall but not climb up the towers which are blocked. This is a good point to get a nice view of the city and the sea.

Lovely, quiet seaside resort, not far from Lloret de Mar. Nice bay and beach, castle and lighthouse to visit. We only went for the day but a lovely place to visit.

This ancient fortress wall, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the picturesque town of Tossa de Mar, carries an aura of history and charm. As I walk along the well-preserved stone pathways, I am transported back in time, imagining the lives of those who once defended this coastal stronghold. The commanding views of the deep blue Mediterranean Sea and the rugged coastline are simply awe-inspiring. The blend of medieval architecture, narrow winding streets, and colorful houses make Tossa de Mar a true gem on the Costa Brava. The Muralles de Tossa de Mar not only offer a glimpse into the past but also provide a stunning vantage point to admire the beauty of the present. Exploring these ancient walls is a journey through time that ignites my imagination and deepens my appreciation for the rich history and natural splendor of this enchanting town.

Amazing beach with a nice view of the castle. Lots of options to eat, parking and hotels very close with easy access. The view from the castle is also very nice and waking through the fine streets are amazing.

One of the best beaches i have ever been to. If you're a tourist and wants to visit beach in Spain then i would recommend to visit Costa Brava Region. This is a beautiful pebble beach. Tossa de mar is one of the cities to visit them. There are 2-3 beaches, small and big. There is a castle on the beach side so you can see Sea from some height. There isn't any fee to enter the castle. There are direct Buses to Tossa de mar from Barcelona, operated by Moventis, I don't know about the prices, but it should be around 10-15 Euros. If you want to travel from Girona, then you have to take bus till Lloret de mar (One way price 6,05, takes 1 hour) and then lloret de mar to Tossa de mar (takes 25-30 minutes, one way price 2.4 Euros). You can also visit beautiful streets of Tossa de mar.

If I could make love to a castle, this would be the one. Come here for sunset and you will be amazed at just how beautiful the Spanish coast really is.

Beautiful views, café on top for refreshments which are reasonably priced. The public toilets on the other hand... they were dirty, without soap and paper.

Tossa de Mar has no direct train from Barcelona, you have to go to Gerona or Calella and travel onwards from there. Parts of the old town date back to the 1600's with what I would describe as 'typical' Spanish architecture. The basement of the museum in the castle dates back to Roman times where there was a villa. As can be seen from the pictures there is the original mosaic. There are beautiful views across the bay from the top of the castle and is worth the walk.

Beautiful coastal medival town on the fringes of the beach. A very nice place to stop on the route north of Barcelona and really is a stunning very well preserved medival town. Compared to other places north of Barcelona. Tossa de mar was really crowded with tourists from all over and taking pictures was a bit rough. Also the shops are very tourist related and not much of a local marketplace.

Beautiful place! We felt in love. The view is magnificent. It’s calm, the sun made the place beautiful. Lots of history there.

So beautiful! Historic place, nice to take a walk, but be aware that there are many ups and downs as it's a rugged terrain. We didn't have to pay to access to the walls. The top gives access to a privileged view of the beach. Along the way there are some cute shops and houses. The day we went there was going to be a top concert (we didn't go), it's worth checking the schedule.

Insanely great views from the inside and outside of the medieval city walls in Tossa de Mar. Place you must visit while being in Costa Brava, although the city is totally empty outside of season.

(Translated by Google) A small, kind of lock, which is difficult to suspect that he once, someone, protected from something. Toy like that. But the silhouette is beautiful! Looks good from the beach (both). Inside there is a remarkably preserved Old Town, taverns, restaurants, stairs, descents, ascents, tourist trains (for the weak and lazy), because you have to learn THIS with your own feet and choose the routes yourself. The views from above are amazing - in any direction! You get out of it, step back fifty steps, turn around - and again: well, a toy!

Having strolled through the city, going to the old castle throws you back in time. You can almost see the large sailing ships, hear the cannons roar and see the soldiers manning the tower and fortress. Looking down to the ocean from the castle is amazing. You can actually see the fish and rocks going disappearing in the depths of the ocean. On top of it all - quite literally - there is a small cafe with the most amazing views. Almost 360 degrees unhindered view of the Mediterranean. Enjoy your drink!

Beautiful, historic place. We were happy to explore Tossa del mar as the last fortified town in Spain. It was a pleasant surprise to us to see how well preserved and maintained everything was. The little town was more than beyond delightful to stroll around. This is a must and Tossa del Mar has definitely become a new favourite for us to come back and visit for a weekend.
