Absolutely amazing. Seasonal ingredients, focus on one dish and beautiful atmosphere as well as furniture. The location is a bit outside, but it really fits the vibe perfectly. We were lucky enough to be there when they served beef tartar, and it was amazing. Great assortment of seasonal ingredients, delicious and flavorful mayo as well as dressings and the beef was incredibly good. Obviously grinded in house, as shown by the large chunks and variations in color. Bread is plentiful and freshly baked and it was wonderful. You help yourself to as much as you want, which also goes for the water. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I will definitely come back next time I am In Malmø. EDIT: Came back a second time and it was just as wonderful as the first time. Please never close this place, because I just initiated a new tradition where I have to visit this place every time I cross the bridge. It’s definitely one of my favorite places ever.

a really great scandinavian lunch experience with efficient service, delicious food and ingredients, and a nice ambiance. canteen style with a rotating menu every weekday (1 meat, 1 vegetarian, check their website for the menu). lunch is usually 125sek and comes with unlimited bread. high quality ingredients and flavors: i came on a friday afternoon when they were serving lamb salad (mint, greens, peas). the salad was fresh and the lamb was flavorful. generous portions and good bread. restaurant was bustling around 12:30pm with a lot of locals and what seems to have been coworkers. lots of indoor and outdoor tables. the canteen is on the other side of the bridge at the end of the long pier/near warehouses. it's a bit out of the way so you definitely wouldn't stumble upon it, but i highly recommend taking the walk/bike/drive out. there is a malmö by bike station right next to the restaurant. i would definitely come back!

So fresh, so tasty, and so rich with flavor. There was a nice kick to the sauce and it made the dish all that much better. This restaurant was an experience and definitely worth it to make the trip. Service: 5/5 - Super friendly and welcoming staff. Ambiance: 4/5 - The area was a secluded and not so populated warehouse/commercial district. It's not the greatest but the space for this restaurant is very clean.

One of our favorite lunch spots in Malmo. The vegetarian plate is always superb, and they bake their own sourdough daily. The sourdough is as good as we've had anywhere (at home in SF and Sacramento)! Not to go totally Paul Hollywood or anything, but check out the bread structure in the photo below... delish!

They serve a daily menu and a weekly vegetarian option along with bread, salt and olive oil. Truly amazing simple concepts yet delicious and complex in flavor. Probably some of the best value you can get as the food is really high quality. Friendly and a non pretentious inside with a very friendly and down to earth atmosphere. One of the best lunch spots around!

It is nice here, but my feelings is that the meat main course really is what people gush about 🙂 The vegetarian is nice.

Interesting combination of ingredients that ends up as a very tasty meal. Meat was perfectly made, cauliflower somehow tasted better than usual and the yellow sauce was very delicious as well. Would definitely recommend 🤩

The food, flavour-wise, is bombastic!!! It’s absolutely tasty and delicious. Simple (one item on the menu with vegan option) and yummy. The mashed potato is the creamiest I ever tasted. The rooster was tender and the sauce was devilishly saucy! I loved the food. 😍 Service got a 3 star because you had to cut your own bread. Pick up the food plate from the counter, get your cutlery, drinking glass and water bottle, and then find a spot to seat. After eating you’d return your empty plate to the counter. So basically, like you were back in boarding school or something of the sort. Nevertheless, I suppose it’s part of the Swedish charm? 🤷🏾‍♂️ Atmospherically banal in my honest opinion. They could use some interior touches but then again it’s just a “lunch restaurant”. I’ll be returning there no doubt. Just for the food. 😋

We got the vegetarian dish and the meat dish, both were spectacular. We walked from the train station, and even though it isn’t in the busiest part of town it is very much worth a visit.

It was my first time here but I liked the place, definitely going back when I have the chance. The super simple menu is interesting, food seems good quality and price is pretty good.

Absolutely the most hidden gem of the city that I've found thus far. Tucked away at the end of a harbour road in a non-descript building, this place had the best food. Simple concept - the chefs make one dish a day for lunch and that dish is impeccable. Serving local wine and coffee along with it if you like, this spot is the truest definition of a hidden, local gem.

One of Malmö’s best lunch places. Always at least two options on the menu of which there is always a vegetarian option. It’s popular all year round and getting a table at peak lunch hour can be difficult. Though rotation is also fairly quick so at worst you’ll wait a couple of minutes. Staff is incredibly nice and friendly. It’s like you can tell they enjoy running this place.

Best lunch option in Malmö. Great staff & atmosphere. A little hard to find if you’re a foreigner but a gem if you can make it. I can easily say that it was one of the best lunches i have ever had. They have huge wooden tables, shared by people. It’s only open for a limited time everyday. Don’t miss it.

I would not know about the food, sure it's good. Bury we didn't get any. During a festival, the web page clearly states the place is open, together with info on the location. Also states, elsewhere, "see you at the festival" our something to that effect. We walk there, a bit of a trek, in hot weather. A person in the staff tells us they're closed for the festival (du they're selling good somewhere else). Ok. That's a mistake then, with some bad consequences for us. We say, slightly miffed, that it would have been nice if the web page had said that they were closed. We get in return a sarky "it does". That's where it breaks, and that's how you earn a bad review with a single silly lie. Will not come back. Oh. The festival is on for the rest of the week. Fix the web page and I'll definitely remove the review. Leave it as is, to waste other customers time, and you truly are worth the single star.

I love your food guys, you are amazing, unfortunately I must agree with the comment below that when eating in the Canteen I have always given you 5, but on festival kiosk I would say 3. Kebab was definitely delicious, sauces were fantastic and very well balancing the meat flavour, as well as the acidity from the pickled cucumber was fantastic as an addition. What I don't like is - it was difficult to eat it, may be if the bread is cut by 4 pieces? Unfortunately both me and sambo had stomach issues during the night.

Saltimporten Canteen 5 Stars Saltimporten at the Malmö Festival 1 Star Very disappointed with the food served from Saltimporten at the Malmö Festival. Lamp kebab with almost no meat. Bread used for the kebab was dry, cold and way too much. Almost impossible too eat, everyone around struggled in eating this kebab. Some used fork and knife. Some tried to wrap it, with everything dripping. And please use more meat. Too expensive for what served. And absolutely no comparison to what they serve at their regular location. What a shame. Very very disappointed !!

Some form of raw meat this time. Actually very good compared to the time I accidentally had a raw hamburger like thing in France. A bit loud to sit indoors, but a sunny day outdoors looking at the ships leaving and entering Malmö makes it a very nice break from the more nearby lunch restaurants once in a while.
