A
masterpiece
of
engineering
and
its
wonderful
appearance
is
a
real
experience
to
drive
on
it!
The
Öresund
Bridge
or
Øresund
Bridge
(Danish
Øresundsbroen,
Swedish
Öresundsbron)
is
a
combined
road-rail
bridge
over
the
Øresund
Strait.
The
bridge
connects
the
capital
of
Denmark,
Copenhagen,
with
Malmö
in
Sweden,
and
more
broadly,
Scandinavia
with
Central
and
Western
Europe.
The
European
highway
E20
passes
through
the
bridge.
Passenger
and
freight
transport
takes
place
on
its
double-track
railway
track.
With
a
length
of
7,845
meters,
the
bridge
is
the
longest
road-railway
bridge
in
Europe.
The
bridge
itself
accounts
for
about
half
of
the
distance
between
the
two
coasts,
the
rest
is
bridged
by
the
artificial
island
called
Peberholm
(4055
m),
the
tunnel
leading
from
there
to
the
Danish
side
(4050
m)
and
the
artificial
peninsula
established
on
the
Danish
side
(430
m).
The
bridge
was
handed
over
on
July
1,
2000
by
II.
Queen
Margaret
of
Denmark
and
XVI.
King
Gustav
Károly
of
Sweden.
