The perfect place to find out about the history of Kalmar, to contemplate at a fort overlooking the Baltic Sea, around 12 am the February sun is like at the picture🌊☀️🏰 royal

Really good exhibition of the Swedish Kings. Perfect for kids. The cost starts after the shop. So feel free to look around on the wall surrounding the castle. Inside was the most impressive digital Monet exhibition. Definitely recommend to go there.

Very nice castle. Nice tour, also in english. A lot of kids animation, there are people dressed in original clothes and knight fights in a small arena. A visit will take about 2 hours, maybe more if you want...

Wir waren an einem verregneten Tag da zusammen mit unserer 5-jährigen. Es war alles sehr interessant. Nette Führung. Ging zwar nur auf schwedisch oder englisch, aber war trotzdem gut. Lieben Dank dafür.

While the castle itself is a splendid sight with its rich history and captivating architecture, the downside is the mandatory entry fee of 100kr, even if you only intend to dine at their restaurant or browse through the store. It's disheartening that visitors are compelled to pay for entry regardless of their interests, adding an unexpected cost to what should be a simple visit. Despite this, if you're willing to overlook the entrance fee policy, the castle offers a unique and picturesque experience.

Very beautiful and historically significant. If you’re interested in the Kalmar union, it’s especially interesting. My daughter loved the treasure hunt around the castle. The Monet exhibition was very beautiful as well. I absolutely recommend.

Very much recommended! At the day we visit… today… there were many cool activities for kids of various ages! The Monet & Friends visual experience is also a nice thing going on during August/23.

Great place to enjoy your weekend. The castle faces the Baltic Sea and offers a sense of tranquility to anyone who visits the area. There is a lovely restaurant inside that offers lovely treats for fika.

It’s one of the best castles in south of Sweden. Good part is, they have guides included in tickets itself. The guides are hired by castle and they wear ancient clothes belonging to that time and look really pretty. Guides don’t rush and explain all the things which are right now present and which were destroyed by time. Except castle, there is not much in Kalmar city.

A very beautifull and well preserved castle (slott). We realy loved seeing the views from the castle wall. There is even some old shot canonballs in the pillars of the castle. A must see, when you are in the area!

Big castle, great scenes for photography. Lots of programs for kids, like a parcour, session with a princess, tournament on a horse and fight with a knight. From both adults and kids, lots of things to feel and experience.

Well maintained and easy to walk around. The atmosphere is calming thanks also to the water surrounding the castle. Nice dogs can be seen.

It's really interesting. The staff dressed in Tudor clothes. Information panels in Swedish and English. Only half an hour to spare, so they let us in for half price. Models of the castle at different times in history.

To be honest, I liked the exhibition in the castle the most. I'd love to taken an English guided tour inside the castle, however there is none (due to covid?). The kids challenges around the castle were quite fun and there castle is very beautiful, however I do think it's overpriced

Das Schloss ist wunderschön und in einem guten Zustand. Eine Führung kann ich sehr empfehlen, man lernt nicht nur etwas über die Geschichte des Schlosses sondern auch der ganzen Stadt.

The entry fee was around 180 SEK. It is a nice place but would definitely recommend having a lot of time in hand if you are going to spend this much money. When I went there the weather was bad but apart from that it was a good experience.

I went there twice 9 years apart. Great views and scope for good walks. Earlier i remember seeing Ölandsbron but due to new buildings I couldnt see them.

Brilliant, if you ever come to Sweden you visit Kalmar and it's castle, very well preserved castle with a fascinating history, we could do with more like this in the UK. I particularly liked the guides dressed in costume.

This is the perfect place to enjoy beautiful sunsets and sea views. And many rabbits live here on the hills and build houses. The sea view is really good. If you are planning a trip to southern Sweden, I recommend adding this castle to your route.

Permanent exhibition has information in Swedish, English and German language. The restaurant is lovely and the crew is very kind and helpful. The place, as an old castle, is not pram friendly by design, but you can find accessibility features available.

Kalmar is one of the most enigmatic castles to visit. Much of the beauty is in the natural surroundings. The castle faces the Baltic sea. The water keeps it calm & dreamy. From the parking area, you first walk through a grave site that feels more like an immaculate garden with very tall trees. Even the courtyard inside the castle was vibrant & charming. Overall, every angle of this place is picturesque. It wasn't as touristy as expected. Spend a day here & enjoy the peace.

Beautiful castle in the province of Småland in Sweden, worth the visit.

If you enjoy history and historical buildings a visit to Kalmar slott is recommended when in the area. The surrounding is beautiful and the castle itself has guided tours of different themes with engaging guides (I took two; one in Swedish and one in English), and activities for the kids. I saw a few accommodations for disabilities, like elevators. However, due to the nature of the building and it's age, I'd like to urge caution for visitors who have trouble walking. Many of the floors are made from cobblestone and are uneven. So wear sensible shoes and look where you put your feet. The guided tours are included in the entrance fee, so just show up at the right time in the courtyard and you're good to go.

Great castle in Kalmar. It is really worth visiting this place. In very good condition. The walls are intact. Great cannons on the fortifications. Added a bridge leading to Castle is brilliant. The courtyard with the well is impressive. Kalmar is a must-see on the map.

Beautiful place, the entry is free. Inside is rarely open. Easy to reach from the train station. The parking lot next to the train station is also easy to reach (5 min foot Walk) and costs about 30sek (≈3€) for a day, free on weekends!
