Wow!!!! What an incredible getaway. I think i will be doing Buffalo Hills an injustice trying to describe what a wonderful place it is. One must be there to experience it. a Little piece of heaven!!! This was our second trip to Buffalo Hills. We had a friendly welcome by Nicole that made sure that we are familiar with the farm and all that it has to offer. Once we got to the lodge, Jackson like always made us feel at home and showed each of the rooms and the main lodge. He assisted us to unload our cars and made sure that we had adequate fire wood to have a nice evening in the BOMA. Each day we went to explore the circle route on the farm that takes +- 1 hour to complete. I would recommend that you do this with a 4x4 and if you are not experienced in a clockwise direction. The farm has ample game and we were treated with Black Eagles each morning flying above the main lodge. We are looking forward to our next visit and hope to be back soon at our "home away from home".

Every time we have stayed at Buffalo Hills we've had a wonderful time. Staff and management are professional and friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. Stayed many times and have never had any problems. 5/5

We stayed at the fishing cottage and the farm house. The fishing cottage is rustic and not in the actual reserve, but on a farm next door. The farm house is huge and although within the reserve gates does not have buck / buffalo come around it, but lots of bird life. Staff super friendly and helpful, they also come in and clean kitchen early and don’t get in the way of your privacy / stay. Drakensburg Amphitheater is close by - pay to enter and hiking but not much else available. A few other restaurants and places to eat out in the area 30min to an hour. Stunning sunsets from inside the game park area. Buy groceries from Spar in Harrismith. Checkers Bergville not great. They are in the process of slowly updating the accommodation which was let go by previous owner / management. Awesome spot.

Our group of 8 cyclists enjoyed fantastic hospitality and excellent service from Nicole and her staff. We stayed in the historic and fabulous farmhouse which was spotlessly clean, very spacious and very comfortable. All the amenities that you could wish for are supplied, right down to the braai wood and fire ready to go. It enjoys great views over the farmlands and behind the farmhouse are the impressive sandstone cliffs of the Kerkenberg. It is a stunning place for a group or family get-together. We were amazed at how much game we saw in the short time we were there, the birdlife is good, and we also managed to fit in a short cycle and hike on the farm. We look forward to our next visit to Buffalo Hills!

We had THE most incredible Family stay at Buffalo Hills Private Game Reserve. The Lodge and the Farmhouse were absolutely stunning. The welcome and cleanliness of the Accommodation and Staff was 5 star. The game drives, the bird life, the peace, tranquillity and security just added to an amazing experience. The welcome gift of steak from Green Ranches was such a super surprise and it was braai'd to perfection and enjoyed with the Lodge's wine ! Highly recommend the Farmhouse to anyone wanting a fantastic getaway !!!

The staff was absolutely amazing, thank you so much to Nicola for her hospitality throughout our entire stay. The view is absolutely breath taking, the pictures don't do it any justice, you just have to go there and experience it yourself. We were served and catered to so well, throughout our stay, non of us wanted to leave. The owners Johan and Nicole absolutely lovely as well, I have to come back because it just doesn't make sense to go there once. 😘

This accommodation is taking advantage of us!!! Unethical individuals trying to rip people off with false advertising.This place is unsafe, very dirty (beddings, bathrooms), unmaintained and smells really bad (this was brought to their attention and they stated that they cant get rid of the smell). The reality of the farm house is miles apart from the pictures they post across several online platforms - really shocking. If you posted the real pictures, we would have never booked this place. We would never ever want to stay there nor would we recommend anyone else to stay there. We found live ammunition in the cupboards which was the tipping point for us and therefore we did not stay. We drove 400km and had to find alternate accommodation. Furthermore, two different families who stayed there (the day before our booking and the day after) shared a similar experience. Number 1 rule of customer service - listen to the customer and truly care about their needs. Despite this horrible situation, the owner refuses to refund us. We do not care who the owner donated money too, you should donate your own money! This sounds like a pathetic excuse from the owner who is trying to worm his way out to make himself look good. How can you donate someone else’s refund??? Return the money you owe us, its the decent thing to do. Disgusting behaviour from Buffalo Hills Private Game Reserve!!!

This place is a rip off, falsely advertised. It is nothing like the pictures. Owner and Management are unethical individuals, refused to refund us, accused us of breaking and entering their property, how is that possible? We booked and paid for the accommodation, they gave us access and showed us into the property, but now that we found ammunition in an unlocked cupboard in the house, the owner threatens to charge us with breaking and entering. What a joke....They refuse to take responsibility for luring people to their accomodation under false advertising. Most of the positive reviews are lies. This place is pathetic, no family would find this accomodation acceptable. If the owner is so confident that he has a great place, why would he not refund me?

What a wonderful, relaxing holiday! Our family stayed at the Farmhouse, and we loved sitting on the stoep, breathing in the beautiful surroundings. The house is large enough for a family to have quiet time and have a drink together at the bar or a braai outside. Easy, spacious, rustic and uncomplicated - Farmhouse living at its best. We enjoyed the reserve, birding, 4x4 and fishing in the dams or just walking about. Thank you, Gary and Lulu, for your hospitability; we honestly had a great time.

Such a special place. The top accommodation built right into the mountain. Has great facilities, friendly staff, can fish for bass, saw Cave Paintings in the mountains while on a hike. Just all round amazing place to get away and relax and have a great time

This was one of the most amazing holidays I have ever been on! The lodge was so quiet and a relaxing place to stay. There is so much to do on the farm if you love exploring the outdoors. My 2 year old had the time of his life going to see the game and exploring the lodge. We loved our stay.

Up there as one of the most beautiful farms I’ve visited! Staff are friendly, the lodge is well looked after - an absolute gem of a spot.
