Cute spot right on Kennedy and 7th inside the Roots and Blooms shop- Mita Cafe is a delicious and cozy spot for amazing Ethiopian coffee and by far the best sushi I’ve had in dc — and the best priced too. The large platter was a great mix, and the wasabi and ginger amounts were perfect. The fish was beautifully prepared and of deliciously high quality. The owners are truly a delight and such a great addition to Kennedy street. Also they have amazing smelling breakfast omelettes and delicious sandwiches!! Several vegan and veggie options.

Outstanding sushi at a very reasonable price. My family shared the sakura platter. The tuna and salmon sashimi were outstanding. We will definitely be regulars.

The sushi is amazing, the coffee is incredible, and the service is wonderful! My wife and I just ordered the large Sakura platter for Christmas Eve. The nigiri was like butter. Don’t sleep on this place, it will not disappoint.

I love Mita Cafe! I discovered this new spot in the neighborhood a few months ago and I’ve been coming for the sushi platters regularly! It is a really wonderful Ethio + Japanese couple that own this restaurant and they’re so kind and welcoming. The wasabi flower is so cute and the sushi is excellent! The spot is also really nice inside and I keep recommending it to my friends. They also have breakfast, sandwiches, smoothies, and great Ethiopian coffee! Definitely check it out!!!

Quite simply the best sushi in the DC area that we've had so far. The lady and gentleman who run the place seem like great people. We look forward to trying out their other menu offerings soon!

Great local spot on Kennedy street. The sushi is great and very reasonably priced for the platter. So grateful they are in the area and they've now got another regular.

MitaCafe is a cozy restaurant that serves you amazing food which an authentic quality of food from both Japan and Ethiopia. I am a person who is trying to follow Ketogenic diet strictly for health reasons and unlike so many other restaurants here in DC, i found so many healthy options here. They made me feel welcomed and gave me an amazing experience. The food i ordered today is seaweed salad, which by the way has amazing price, and i was able to customize the my order so as to meet my macros ( added a little more protein)The service I received was so amazing and I will definitely be back again.

Fresh, delicious, made to order sushi and iced chai for a sunny day. possibly the nicest people / kindest restaurant I’ve ever visited. Relaxing welcoming place to eat out or grab a quick bite to go.

Found this place after leaving the DC self inspection kiosk to renew my car registration. It was such a good find! The husband is a trained Japanese sushi chef and wife runs the restaurant, bakery, cafe and makes the Ethiopian food. The sushi rice was perfect and fish was fresh. The Ethiopian tea (I asked for less sugar) was delicious and such a treat. The Ethiopian veggie platter was so tasty we cleaned off the entire plate after asking for more injera. It’s quaint and homey, and the hosts could not be more hospitable. Will return!

I just spent the afternoon reading at Mita and it might be my new favorite spot. The delicious Ethiopian veggie platter filled me all day and for dinner the Philadelphia and California rolls were fantastic. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The owners are so very kind and pleasant to talk with. Never thought I would be eating injera with chopsticks, but that's what Mita does to you! Thanks - be back soon =]

Lovely little spot with quality sushi at a great price! We arrived near to closing and the couple running the cafe were so nice. The rolls are simple and tasty and the nirigi was so fresh. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu!

Excellent. We had their sushi and Ethiopian food, and both were wonderful! Don't underestimate the cafe by an unassuming location. The food is delicious and better than many Ethiopian and sushi places in DC. They take care with the food, and it shows. And, on top of that, the owners are also very kind.

Mita Cafe is one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat. I'm Ethiopian very picky about both Ethiopian food and sushi and this place consistently exceeds my expectations! The sushi is delicious and fresh, Ethiopian food is flavorful and filling, and the sandwiches and panini offerings are perfect for a quick midday lunch. The Ethiopian tea is also fantastic and I never hesitate to grab a bite and sip when I'm missing my family, it just tastes like home. So glad to have Mita here!

What a neighborhood gem! Finally stopped in after wondering about this place for a while and I'm so glad we did! In case you're wondering about the mix of food, the owners are a Japanese sushi chef husband and an Ethiopian chef wife. The food is great! We tried the small sushi platter and it was wonderful (and plenty of food for two) , can't wait to go back to try the Ethiopian food and sandwiches. They also have amazing coffee, which isn't surprising given that Ethiopia is obsessed with great coffee. Try this place out, you won't be disappointed!!

We went on a Sunday evening and they weren’t very busy, which was a surprise because they had such amazing customer service and such delicious sushi! Definitely will come back again next visit to DC. This is a hidden gem! The inside wasn’t fancy but the presentation on plate was great. And the sushi was fresh! Definitely a 5 star review!!

The abayi (minced beef, onion, jalapeño, and butter) is the sandwich in the city, bar none. It’s a pity that it’s only available on weekends, because this thing is exceptional, with the kind of perfectly-balanced heat that sneaks up and lends savor to a dish without overpowering it. You should expect a fifteen to twenty minute wait for this sandwich, but that’s fine - I promise, you’re not doing anything better with your time. Especially since the tiny, cozy Mita is a fine place to hang out with a good book or a friend. The abayi is $16, and more than worth every penny.

I ordered Salmon Wrap and it was great! The vibe of the restaurant was cozy and the owners were very nice people. I had a little chat with them and it was heartwarming to hear their story of moving to DC and running a restaurant together. I’ll definitely come back! Highly recommend it!

My husband and I had been eyeing this place for a year and were finally able to go! An amazing combo and definitely worth the wait. Had some delicious Ethiopian tea (first time and got one to go, it was so good!) and some of the best sushi I've had in the city (so fresh)! To top it off, the owners are super kind and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back soon. ❤️

Stubbled at this place looking for sushi, surprised to find a place with such good quality and it being an Ethiopian fusion. Place is neat and has a nice vibe to it, would definitely recommend

It was amazing how both the Ethiopian food - we had a vegetarian platter - and the sushi - we sampled a few - were both so good! And the owners are both so kind, welcoming, and helpful. We had such a wonderful experience and are looking forward to coming back!

Amazing restaurant. The sushi is phenomenally and so thoughtfully made with the best ingredients. The two owners are so kind, and made me feel at home the moment I walked in. Highly recommend coming here to try amazing Ethiopian-Japanese food.

Well Mita cafe is wonderful in many ways other than its delicious and marvelous variety of food selection. The hospitality I received from its owners was spectacular and refreshing. Deep diving on to their food, the selections of different kinds of meal will satisfy your appetite. I would recommend any one that’s lives around the neighborhood or far to come and enjoy not only your time but the delicious foods Mita has to offer!!!

Wonderful addition to Brightwood Park. Friendly owners, convenient location on Kennedy & 7th, amazingly delicious sushi, and reasonably priced. Also love supporting a small family owned and run business! If you haven't picked up sushi (or something else off the menu) here yet, you're missing out! Expect to get sushi 🍣 here monthly

(Translated by Google) Such a cute spot and great addition to Kennedy St! Although the sushi menu is small, it's very good and the quality is comparable to pricier places in the DMV area. The seaweed salad was also much bigger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise! The couple who run the cafe are so kind and the service was smooth and quick. They even offered me an Ethiopian tea to go which was so tasty and perfect for a brisk day! Will definitely be coming back again. The sushi was very delicious. In addition to sushi, there are sandwiches and smoothies on the menu, and you can enjoy various things. Next time, I would like to ask for Ethiopian coffee. What an amazing idea with great execution. This truly is not an "Attempt" at anything the owners have truly blown it out of the park! A Genuine out of this world menu where both cultures really shine. Mita is a great spot to grab a healthy, delicious & unique for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Its is a quiet great place to have a chat and enjoy nice cup of coffee, but also amazing Ethiopian food.

Easily the best coffee I've had. It's been said, Ethiopian coffee is unrivaled -- I completely agree. Mita is an AMAZING human and her husband (his sushi is really good) adds a beautiful twist on this quaint cafe on Kennedy St. My weekly spot!!! A must whenever I'm in the city.

I found this place after dropping my son off for daycare one morning. The owner is so nice and friendly! The food is delicious, especially their tomato, cheese sandwich on a croissant. Their coffee left me running in place; it was strong but again, delicious! My wife and I are making this our usual Friday breakfast spot to start the weekend.
