It's all fake advertising. They are using photos of the old tropical hotel that used to be amazing but nowadays it's closed indefinitely. There's no zoo, big pool or other nice places anymore since the Tropical Hotel is closed. Only a couple of photos is from Tropical flat that is located behind the place that's closed. They should only use photos of the real site, not like a tourist trap. It's not necessary.

The rooms are a very good size but are not consistent throughout the hotel. Some have adequate AC, some do not, some require the card to be set for the rooms amenities to work, and some do not. The key cards deactivated twice in 3 days without having been near a phone or credit card. Fortunately, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. They have security watching for safety. The beach isn't very clean but the pool is. Also, be prepared for bugs and lizards in the room, it is just the nature of the beast in Brazil.

This place is absolutely amazing. Staff made my experiance better than I could have hoped. I am a difficult person to please but staff made sure I was 100 percent taken care of with any concern I had while in brazil. On my return trip I will be taking a lot of photos and videos including some 360 to show the highlights of this fine establishment. This hotel has a police station at the front of it and has security posted at front of the road and at the entrance if safety is a concern you will not find a safer location.

For a luxury place this hotel has a lot to catch up, i picked up the luxury double room. The hotel has a lot of potential, but the rooms are badly cleaned, very old mirrors, the towers are yellowish (when they suppose to be white), the sheets were in the same situation with a lot of stains on it, all the mirror were very dirty, along with the pool for the turtles, you have the impression that they are swimming in mud, i would even say that they never cleaned the pool in which the turtles are in (the pool for the turtles are right next to the guests pool), all concrete parts of the hotel were covered in moss, the roofs were as well all covered in moss, the glass from the windows were all dirty, which is really bad since we have a great view from it. But i would put 5 starts for the personnel always welcoming and sympathetic; for the restaurant/food i would say 4 starts, only because there were very few fruits (i was born in manaus and i know that there are almost an infinity number of fruits here); we only had watermelon, pineapple and sometimes melon. If the hotel wants to hire me as a consultant i have plenty of ideas. The dishes, including desert, from the restaurant is perfect, very fresh fishes well prepared, although they could offer some more option of desert.

I suspect the 5 star reviews for this hotel are fraudulent. Really. Read and believe the one star reviews. My wife and I are here July 2018. We opted for the Premier Suite and had the change rooms 3 times due to the reek, failed air conditioning, faulty plumbing and dirty bed sheets. Most amenities are broken, only one mediocre buffet restaurant, most hotel rooms are closed off and the staff is not being paid regularly. Ok you have been warned.

Got a lot better after some renovation. The breakfast is very nice, only the air conditioning on the restaurant could be stronger. The air conditioning on the room is good, but is noisy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Lunch is good and the dishes have good portion sizes, only the waiters tend to be a little slow, you have to be patient.

Hotel staff is friendly, accommodating, and ready to help you with anything you need. My stay there was great and look forward to visiting soon.

The hotel was old, our room looked old, and there were small ants in the room as well. The food was mediocre and service was slow. Had to ask for blankets because the room only had one for three beds, and asking for towels was always frustrating because they never seem to have enough on hand, like it not being laundered regularly

It has a great location ample space and huge parking area, next to the negro river, spacious rooms but yes the furniture is very out dated. But the place is not posh, the reception by staff was cold not interested in receiving guests, the rooms did not have adequate sheets , nor there was any water or even a electric kettle to prepare own tea coffee. we ordered a pizza said it will take 20 Min and took more than 1Hr 30 Min and came Luke warm when asked No 9 the reply was "what can i do". We were to leave early in the morning before the breakfast, requested for packed break fast and there is no such facility, requested if we can use the 24 Hr coffee facility at the restaurant initially it was negative latter the Manager who comes at 11 PM said it is ok to have. Another time we ordered tea in the lounge area and took ages to be served. Overall not a great experience as the reviews suggest. Service / hospitality is missing here

Great location! Breakfast is ok. Overall though I think it’s over priced. Other hotels in Manaus offer more for less.

This place has all the physical building blocks in place to be a great resort. However, regrettably, poor governance and management have gradually allowed this place to be one of the poorest 5* resort. It stinks, is dated, its equipments and furnitures are old. No fresh air in the corridor and the carpets stinks. It must be struggling financially and, may be, for that reason the resort will use your visit as a "cash cow". The hotel was established in 1975 with 10 acres of land, large swimming pools, own tennis courts, helipad, private water planes, zoo. Was an ultimate luxury in Amazon and hence was favourably highlighted as on of the best in the world by New York Times on 27 February 1983. This place is a classic example to what can happen to a giant.

We walked into the hotel and immediately requested a refund after seeing the rooms. This hotel has clearly seen better days. First, it took 30 minutes and somehow 4 separate people to check us in. The hallway lights are on a timer so the hallways are dark when you enter. The room had bugs and dirt on the floor, mold in the grout, questionable stains on the wall, and one incredibly thin sheet with holes and dirt stains. The AC didn’t work. I do not understand why this has such high reviews. Truly none of the photos were representative. I did not feel comfortable sitting down in that room. The view was nice, but in no way worth it. The lady at the front desk, Brenda, was very kind, and immediately agreed to give us a refund but it again took over 30 minutes and several people to receive it.

Filthy tables and floor. The staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. I’d rather eat from a street cart than at this place in Tropical hotel. In addition, my room was always hot and noisy. The air conditioner was not effective and very noisy…

Location is great, however there is no beach access from the hotel, which is very disappointing. A bit of a walk to get to the beach in a broken path. They could improve the pillows and towels, they are very low quality. Food in the hotel isn't great. The pool is amazing!!!

This hotel is very nice, the view is amazing both from our room as well as from the pool. Especially, the sunset is amazing from the pool and I would recommend seeing it. The reception is not very nice and was rude to my wife for no reason, once they realised I was not Brazilian they started acting properly (very strange). Furthermore, going to the beach or the street requires you to walk through a dark street without lights, so people from the hotel they walk with the light on their phone to and from the hotel. This could have been easily resolved. The breakfast at this hotel is great they have local juices like acai and other fruits, cuzcuz, tapioca pancakes, different fruits and other nice food. You can have breakfast outside with the amazing view. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

    1. This property has hotel rooms and apartments that are privately owned. We booked Tropical Residence, which is privately owned. All services to the hotel guests were not included. 2. Although it had a small kitchen, the microwave was not working. We could really use an electric kettle and a cutting board for fruits. 3. Our trip was extremely long and our plane was delayed by 12 hours, we not only lost 1/2 of our day but arrived at 5am to find no sheets on our bed and no towels. We couldn’t sleep either as booking was for 4 and it only slept 3, so my daughter slept on the floor. 4. The A/C wasn’t really working. 5. What was supposed to accommodate a family of 4 didn’t. So, we had to get an extra room from the hotel. 6. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or soap. Rough not having these for a shower after a long journey. 7. This property is NOT affiliated with the former Tropical Hotel. MISLEADING. Very different standard, vibe, style. I would give 1 star for the residence, 3 stars for the hotel. 8. Pictures found here are NOT of the Tropical Executive. They are of the former Tropical that is being renovated and will serve as a hospitality school. The pictures of the zoo, of the large alfresco pool, colonial rooms ARE not of this property. 9. The Executive as a hotel is budget friendly, convenient, clean and safe. I would stay there again if conducting business. For holiday, i would prefer to stay at the future hospitality school.

I think this hotel has unobstructed river view on all rooms. It’s worth it for just that. It’s a little dated but the room is large and clean. Daily cleaning was also nice. WiFi is spotty. The internet speed will depends on the location of the room. The speed is good for me in the restaurant but not in the room. The breakfasts is complete. It is all you can eat for R$40 with free regular coffee and juices. The instant espresso is not made with fresh coffee and it costs R$ 12 per cup. There is a grocery store in the hotel that sells basic items like water and drinks. Only some rooms have balcony. I think those will be even better than regular room. It is a little far if you try to walk to anywhere. Taxi will be needed.

Not a good hotel. Although employees are nice everything else was unsatisfactory. 1st room put in A/C broken, room warm to hot all day into the next day. I had to request room change very next morning. That took the better part of the day as staff had "prepare a new room." The breakfast is a shuttle about 15 min ride up the road. Do not expect to be back to the hotel in less than 1 hour as multiple guests at slightly different times causes multiple trips back and forth. They use a sedan and on morning day 2 had a van. Either plan accordingly or have your day start off needing to compress and rush everything. There is NO hotel shop i.e. store to purchase water, snacks, etc. Make sure to purchase and stock your "refrigerator" prior. The restaurant that has a dinner service is not run properly at all. I stod at a makeshift bar/host area to be seated almost 15 min, never greeted, no menus, I just left and walked into town to eat. But yes, this hotel has no normal dining facility. Do not waste your money here, I am sure there are better hotels in and around Manaus. Do your research just don't stay here.

The beds are comfortable and linnen good. Spacious rooms with nice tv. The views are stunning! Internet good enough to work remotely. Staff is really friendly and helpfull, top service! We really liked our stay :) The infinity pool is great! The area untill the roundabout is safe to walk. The beach and several eating stands are within walking distance. Tip: go to Orla 92. Has foodtrucks, small convenience store and a laundry. Point of improvement: ventilation in the elevator I would not recommend the restaurant. The food is not up to Brazilian standards. Staff however is super friendly! Beware that some apartments are privately owned, so complaints should be directed to the owner!

I only had lunch at the restaurant. The food was good. Nothing out of the ordinary. The service was great. The hotel is nicely located but in decline.

I imagine how great and marvelous it was at its time. It is a big hotel which was built many years ago and couldn't keep up with the time. It is still a good place to stay, but below the expected. About localization, its close to a very nice beach (yeah. Although Manaus is not in the Brazil's coastline, the rivers are so wide that looks like the sea), but it's far from midtown.

Beautiful location with bar, restaurant and pool. Very safe and sound. But building is a little neglected.

Get a corner room. This room had floor to ceiling windows which I like. Nice size room, could do my yoga with room to spare. Everyone at hotel friendly and you can't beat the views. If you are into pools you'll probably like the infinity pool which is great to catch the sunset.

I'm giving 3 stars because the hotel definitely needs some maintenance and a better reception (faster as well). But the view from the rooms and the pool is AMAZING.

Restaurant service is the worst that I have ever had. Waiters take way too long with orders and they never have drinks even if they are listed in the menu. Staff does not speak any language other than portuguese, which makes everything more difficult than it already is. On the other side, rooms were minimally clean but I wouldn't be a guest ever again.

I had previously rated the place highly. But management has changed. They try to fine you accusing people of not having a mask on. Service has become rude and not a place I recommend. Go elsewhere.

The rooms and the views are good. Breakfast is also nice. The organisation of the hotel is terrible though. The didn’t tell us that the lost luggage from the airport arrived. We only found out about it after we left and we had to get back.

Hotel needs major upgrades. My room: both bedside switches by the bed do not work. Dirty bathroom ceiling. Dirty dishes. Plug hanging out the wall. Bathroom sink leaked. Bathroom interior and shower head need cleaning and upgrading. Shower pressure and temperature control was good.

For about $60 US per night, I got exactly what I expected. I think some of the reviews are bit harsh. This place is basic and you get what you pay for. Service could use a smile and sure the place has seen grander days but it’s all part of its charm. Despite being close to the airport, it’s a bit far from downtown, actually, pretty much everywhere. There Pont Negra shopping centre is only 5km with a good offering of restaurants along the main road to get there.

Being from the United States, this was quite a different experience. The buffet was decent and they have a tiny so attached! This hotel was a good place to stay because it was close to everything. Ponta negra Beach is just a couple minutes walk and you can see the river from the front of the hotel.

Great hotel in Manaus. My wife and I stayed at the hotel prior to travelling onto an eco lodge in the Amazon. Very comfortable and definitely recommend. It also has its very own zoo in the grounds and all the animals look as though they are exceptionally well looked after.

Reasonable Value for money ($64 USD, 2 people, Breakfast incl.) Large room with A/C Good shower, hot water. Average cleanliness. Excellent breakfast, buffet. Restaurant meal good, but expensive. Hotel amenities, pool and bars are better than average, though again could be better maintained. Good gardens and surrounds.

  • 4/5 Anderson S. 7 years ago on Google
The hotel is far from the downtown, however you Will have all facilities inside it. Is near from airport and inside the hotel you can find a tourism agency, so you can schedule some interesting landmarks tours. The rooms are old but nice. The breakfast is simples but Good.

An amazing place to stay, stunning building. I had to change rooms due to a mix up but was given a better room. Staff were helpful. Not sure about the zoo in the centre and the oversized turtles in the tiny ponds near the restaurant... maybe could be given more space, or just not be there.
