The Circus Tavern

Bar β€’ Pub

πŸ‘πŸ‘ My God but it's small. But the sign outside said you would get a big welcome and you certainly do. Two lovely ladies serving on Sunday afternoon. Nice coal fire to warm your bits and bobs. They don't have crisps or nuts, but to be honest there probably isn't room for them. Real mixture of people in... Big things come in small packages is the first impressions of this great traditional pub. The tiny bar is apparently the smallest in Europe with Excellent bar staff and a warm/friendly atmosphere this is one place to definitely visit when your in the city centre.

They don't have crisps or nuts, but to be honest there probably isn't room for them. Real mixture of people in there. Some locals, French, Irish and myself. Will go back definitely. Not expensive either πŸ€—

Love the Circus. It's very small but it has such a rich history with Man Utd. Great place prematch.

Lovely little pub. The staff were welcoming and everyone there was friendly and happy. 2 small rooms space for maybe 20 or so people, I was there at 4pm on Friday and got the last seat, so I'd suggest this place for a weekday tipple if you want a seat. Β£4.30 for my pint of wainwright.

They said it was the smallest pub in Europe. It was pretty darn small and they were friendly and had a good place to sit and drink. As an American tourist in Manchester, I liked it.

What Cheers was on TV is what Circus Tavern is to Man United fans! Felt like home after meeting fans from Norway, England and beyond. Will never forget leaving the bar and everyone saying goodbye. Coming back soon!

Belting little boozer. Nipped in for a quick one when I saw the Tetley's sign outside, and walked out five hours later. Friendly staff, and excellent beer. Some of the friendliest people I met on this particular trip to Manchester.

Brilliant little historic pub, it's a bit of a Manchester institution. Drinks were brought over to us, which was really appreciated.

Europe's smallest bar it says. πŸ˜€We'll the bar is tiny but oh so well stocked. πŸ˜‰The bar man and one other staff couldn't be more friendly. In fact they asked us if we wanted a picture behind the bar so we definitely took them up on the offer. They could have been nicer so we stayed for more. There are two small small snugs to seat maybe 6 or 7 at a squeeze as you go through so it will get full quickly. It's fun and quirky. The beer was on tap was great. Loved it. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Love the cosy and great atmosphere in this homely place. They even have improved their selection of draught beers.

Cozy pub in the heart of Manchester! The owner is so friendly and welcoming. I loved all the pictures of patrons on the wall and the two little rooms to drink in. Definitely a must try if you're in the area.

Absolutely loved this place, found it by chance and was very warm welcoming presence by both the staff and other customers. Had some great chats with some Norwegian and Swedish football fans as well as some other British and would definitely visit again.

Lovely Quirky little bar tucked away from the current affairs. Really nice place for a few pints and to meet a few Mancunian Characters. Loved it.

A gem of a pub and a Manchester institution. Friendly staff, good beer and a guarantee to meet a character or two as you have to sit next to them! If only all pubs were like this one, the world would be a better place.

A proper pub, cosy is an understatement based purely on size, but also cosy as in you get to talk to folk without wall to wall TV, juke box or games machines. If it's crowded, the friendly folk behind the bar will come round and take orders then bring you your drinks, saves losing your seat or constantly disturbing people. A cracking good pub, of which there are too few nowadays. Just go.

I used to be the area manager of the Circus Tavern so know it very well. I visited the pub on a Thursday night after a concert at the Apollo. We turned up late but the bar staff allowed us to have a quick drink before she locked up (which was very kind) - the pub was still as I remembered it, a classic, tiny, town centre boozer. Loved it back in the day and still do !

The cozy cubicles in the circus tavern are only topped by it’s quaint beer garden. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was comfortable and easygoing. The localest of local pubs.

Probably the coziest, warmest pub I’ve ever been in. Staff were gems. Rides also. Would indulge in another moretti in their state of the art beer garden.

I came in here for one pint and stayed for a few hours talking to Barry and an British/American couple. Then a lot of locals joined our conversation with music videos playing in the background. I have given 5 stars for food but I didn't see any grub only beer.

Great little pub and I mean little. But what a big atmosphere

  • 4/5 Terry H. 1 year ago on Google
I first visited this pub in 2003 when it was run under a different management. Tetley's was still brewed by Tetley's and I was a regular. Sadly, the manager moved on. Now still a decent little pub with pleasant staff but a different atmosphere. The Tetley's and the Wainwright is brewed by the Burton beer factory, so is very bland in taste. I only popped in out of nostalgia. Worth a visit anyway.
