Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost ⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came here for a chat with friends over drinks so my review is somewhat limited. Really like the space and the decor. Front is mainly catering to drinkers and there's also an outdoor area (right on Deansgate). The back is more dining and has a slightly different decor. Either way, really cosy and nice. Super chilled and casual when I was there in the late afternoon. Would love to come back and see what the food is like!

If I had rated after the starter it would have been a 5. A birthday lunch for my much better 1/2. I had onion petals to start which were hit crispy and delightful. The ladies both had calamari which was small but perfectly formed. For a main I had the hanging lamb kebab which was formed into balls and was over cooked and hard. The garlic oil was oily but not tasty and added nothing to the dish. One of the ladies had roast beef which I though was cold and nit that great a portion either. The other 1/2 had the pork belly which did look great. The veggies that came with the roasts were delish but the brocoli and peas were both cold which was a disappointment. The ladies had some rather fab cocktails ehich they loved but I was driving so had a boring but nice orange and lemonade. Good but not great :(

Always have a good time at the Botanist. Not been for about 3 years. I was shocked to learn the signature botanist cocktail had changed. I love the elderflower mojito, glad it's still on the Menu. Staff are friendly and so interesting. Love sitting at the bar and having a good chat with them. Drinks are amazing and love the fresh ingredients added too and the greenery design throughout feels very refreshing. Definitely a firm favourite for us when we visit the city.

Very nice place to have a few drinks and some delicious pub food reasonably priced. The Botanist is beautifully decorated, the cocktails and selection of drinks is is impressive. I really enjoyed my halloumi hanging kebab and sweet chili fries. The staff is very approachable and attentive. Special thanks to our waiter Sam who kindly made sure that we were happy and well attended at all times. Will go back :)

we called in just after new year, absolutely beautiful inside & staff are friendly and very helpful, the live singer was superb. Food was delicious the only thing was my daughter got the chicken and chorizo hanging kebab, myself and my husband got the sharer my daughters portion was bigger than the sharer so my husband sat moaning (as men do) overall everything was wonderful but I think the sharer portion should be bigger, its not worth the price he would have eaten that himself 🫣😂 The children's menu has plenty to choose from with some healthy choices which was good to see the burgers were brilliant sizes & they enjoyed their desert after huffing and puffing as the banana split had sold out but they were very happy!

We loved eating here for our 3 year anniversary. Really delicious food and great service. Would really recommend the salt and pepper chicken wings for a starter: really tasty with a gorgeous sweat chilli sauce but not too spicy.

Food and drinks were lovely, However, I'm not sure if it was just a one off but it did take a while to get served. At one point I had to ask someone at the host stand if they could give us our table number so I could go upto the bar and order, she told me that she'll find a server for me. The server that did come over was helpful but did seem to be a slightly on the stressed side, talking a bit too fast that we couldn't understand him at first. When we had ordered we got our food within 10 minutes. Would go again overall

I booked a group of 12 and thanks to covid and a couple no shows we ended up with 6. Not a problem. They were extremely accommodating. The food was brilliant. The starters were so good and the hanging kebabs just incredible. The biggest shout out goes to our server Teela, (sorry if spelt wrong). An absolute delight. So bubbly, friendly and good at her job. All The staff were good but she really stood out. Thanks for a great night. 👍👍

Nice place to have a lunch. The staff are nice and the food is good tasted. The only problem was about the plate that I had to eat the fish and chips. Anyways, I really recommend it!

Hanging kebabs were lovely although a small side salad or garnish would have been nice. Plenty of fries and plenty of sauce to go with. The pitta should be soft but we had one that snapped easily - this was refunded. These should be included in the price of the kebab as standard. Cocktails were very average.

First time today, the food was amazing!!! Loved the option for a two/three course meal at around £23. The Sunday roast was one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was seasoned!! And tasted so good and the portion size was perfect. The cookie desert was so tasty! Again the flavours were amazing. Defo coming back again.

Botanist is one of my favourite bars, always visit when in Manchester which is quite often, however, yesterday’s visit left a lot to be desired. Ordered two glasses of wine at the bar only to be told they had no wine glasses????? I could have the wine in a half pint glass or brandy glass, when I asked why there were no wine glasses I was told they were all out on tables. This seemed strange because there was only a handful of people in the place and only about half a dozen drinking wine (four at one table) around us. One of our brandy glasses had to go back as it had lipstick around the rim. No one collected any dirty glasses while we were in there and the four empty wine glasses were still on the nearby table when we left. We left after one drink and I hope this isn’t an indication of another branch of Botanist closing.

The food was lovely, the hanging kebabs are great. However the service - although our lady was lovely it was quite slow and there was a bit of a mix up with the bill at the end. The vibe was a little more chill than I thought for a Saturday night out but maybe we were too early? There was live music on which was played throughout the restaurant which was great.

Great food & environment. Service can be slow with little check backs for drinks and extras. Cocktails averagely priced with bespoke garnishes. Sunday roasts need a few more sides. Enjoyable experience for a short stop.

Food was delicious! Service was great. Only thing I would say is we were celebrating a 21st birthday and there was no mention of this on our arrival! Would have been nice for it to be noticed :)

I had my 50th birthday celebrations here last Friday. The staff was amazing & very welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, as were all the cocktails. There was a long delay between starter & mains, but we didn’t mind as it gave us all time to mingle & digest the starter. I didn’t have a desert but they looked amazing & everyone commented on how delicious they were. I will definitely come back here again. Great value for money

Didn't have a great experience here unfortunately. We've been to The Botanist a few times at other locations and loved it but this was very disappointing. It was my daughters 16th which I added a note on the reservation. I asked for a good table which didn't happen, there was no mention of her birthday by the server. The petals were cold and we sent them back. The sharer board was poor quality, my husband said the chicken wings were awful. My noodle salad was inedible, it was hard chewy noodle pieces (and was removed from the bill) but still spoiled our evening. Considering it was for a special birthday for my daughter it was not a good evening, definitely will not go to the botanist again.

Lovely venue with live singer . However, when it came to order, there was disappointment. We wanted 2 san Miguel to be told it's not available. We had the onion petals to share as a starter and it was delicious but had to use our napkins as plates when the waiter saw us use these instead of asking if we wanted a side plate he just came with more napkins then, on to the mains, we chose 2 of the famous hanging kebabs to be told both were out of stock the pork belly and kebab of the day. When we did order the food, it came quick and was very nice . We asked if we could move table to listen to the live music and this seemed to be a problem and asked us to pay our bill before we moved table's I paid cash and took about 15mins for my change of about £12. The rest of the evening was lovely listening to the great singer and guitarist. We spent about £100 for the Evining, including drinks, but left a little disappointed.

Table near back of restaurant absolutely freezing, which made food cold ,Asked to close door but kept being open again . Rice was cold and dry , chicken beautiful just a shame about the rest . Did ask if we could move but was told fully booked which appreciate , but two tables totally free for the time we were having our meal. Not a happy customer sorry . Would usually recommend hanging kebabs which have had at York restaurant and everything was perfect .

We came to the Manchester Botanist after loving the restaurant in other cities. However this one wasn’t as good as the others at all. The restaurant wasn’t very busy however the service was extremely slow. It took a long time to get our drinks and once we had finished our meal and had everything cleared we had to wait ages to even ask for our bill. The card machine was left on the table for us to use ourselves and after paying with this we then didn’t see another staff member before leaving We had the hot board to start which I couldn’t fault and was very nice and the sharing kebab for our main. This was nice and a good idea, only points are that the prawns weren’t that hot and the lamb was a bit over cooked. The chicken however was lovely. The experience was a bit of a shame as we know how good Botanist restaurants can be but this wasn’t my best experience at one on this occasion. The restaurant and bar I do think looks great though and the design is one I really like

Good service and good range of food. One of our group had to send there's back as parts of it were cold. I wasn't impressed with my hanging kebab - not chunks of meat as anticipated more like meatballs.

Sadly the famous kebabs must be famous for hanging because I assure you it's not the taste. A decent concept for a place Sadly hugely understaffed and overstretched. As it stands not worthy your money or time.

Visited botanist on a Saturday night and it was very crowded. The place had good vibes with live music. We're ordered hanging kebab and sweet potato hummus. Kebab was dry, not worth the price and is popular only for Instagram. The hummus was good. We also ordered Japanese whiskey cocktail and mulled wine. The cocktail was mediocre and the mulled wine was so sweet that it was not palatable. Our waiter was coughing throughout the service and didn't bother to put a mask on. She looked sick and was clearly not happy to be waitressing that night.

Incredibly inhospitable front of house who didn’t know that there was a live act performing that night and were rude. There was no introductions for the act by any member of staff and it felt like no one cared if any paying guest had a good, bad or indifferent time. There are many other places to go in this fine city where the staff care and the drinks and food are fantastic
