I love the Old Monkey and Martin and I often meet here for a crawl. Excellent Joe Holts pub with great real ale. Always liked Holts " fighting" bitter. Toilets down in the basement and another room upstair I believe. ( never gone up!) Good value pub that serves good pub food as well.

Me and my good lady visited this pub Friday afternoon 1st July 2022. Let me tell you this is probably one of the best Manchester city centre pubs that you can go in. The Holts bitter is as good as it gets. Darren who was serving behind the bar made our day with nice, funny conversation and knew our round of drinks every time including when one of our friends turned up. It is a pub where everyone is so friendly. We got talking to various people having good conversation. The pub is managed by Mark and Stacy who work tirelessly to keep the pub nice and clean and running seamlessly. Mark even took the trouble of finding us a third chair because we were one short for our friend and there were not any spare chairs downstairs where we were sat. The pub offers a good selection of beers with homemade food too. The location is spot-on too for all the other attractions. Well done.

This British pub is a fantastic and well-liked establishment that offers an extensive selection of beer and delectable cuisine. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Even when the pub was at full capacity, we were warmly received as a group of ten, and the attentive staff promptly arranged a table for us. They provided us with exceptional service and served us with delicious pub food and drinks that were nothing short of outstanding. We had an outstanding experience and would strongly recommend this pub to anyone seeking a wonderful genuine British dining and drinking experience.

A Holt's pub serving a good selection of real ales and IPA. They also serve Mild which is something you don't see often nowadays! A good traditional city pub, nice.

Very nice little place. We received excellent, personal service from staff. We received recommendations on where to spend our week away too. Prices and selection very reasonable.

The intriguing name drew me in, and the lovely lager kept me there. Great atmosphere and civil barman. My only regret is I couldn’t stay longer.

Rather nice traditional pub in downtown Manchester (a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens), owned by Joseph Holt brewery. Unsurprisingly, they offer a nice selection of their cask ales - admittedly not quite the best in Britain - plus guest beers. The robust barmaid was friendly enough. It's not a huge place and can get very busy even outside of peak hours. Unfortunately my first choice, Joseph Holt "SIXEX", had gone bad, with a distinctly vinegary taste and smell. It can happen (casks, once opened, are good for only three days), but it certainly shouldn't happen if the beer is from the brewery that owns the place! Also, while the barmaid agreed with my complaint and immediately offered a replacement, she didn't take the bad beer off the bar afterwards, waiting for a new customer to be disappointed. That shouldn't happen AT ALL.

Small cosy pub in central Manchester, long gone are the days a Holt's pub is a location for cheap beer (a pint and a half for nearly £8? 😥) but it's a nice pint none the less

Here I ate Steak pie and mash. Best mash I have tastes. No lumps and creamy. Good portion for reasonable price. Juke box available to choose on music. Toilets clean. Highly recommended.

Great city centre pub selling Holts real ales at very reasonable prices. As ever, bar staff are incredibly efficient and friendly. We didn't have food but saw some on the next table which looked delicious

Had an ale here and dang it was so flat and tasted like water. I thought the English made fun of American beer for being close to water but this is evidence that English ales aren't much better at all

Nice pub. Great selection of craft beers and IPAs. Staff friendly. Bobbed in for a couple of drinks prior to a gig. Didn't try the food, but the table next to us devoured theirs - so must be good!!

Very good Manchester pub about 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station. Six cask ales on handpump when I visited including a mild. Fairly quiet after the Spurs game at the Etihad. The pub was Manchester brewer Joseph Holt's first ever new-build house in the city. Built on the site of the Queens Arms beer house, it opened in 1993.

The Old Monkey Pub in Manchester offers an impressive array of beers, showcasing a diverse selection that caters to various tastes. However, it's worth noting that on two separate visits, the pub was not serving food. This might be disappointing for those looking to pair their drinks with a meal. Despite this drawback, the charming atmosphere and exceptional beer choices make it a noteworthy spot for beer enthusiasts.

Absolutely amazing comedy night with Trap Door here! Love that they can draw in top notch comedians for a show that is six quid a ticket! It’s phenomenal! Shame about the surly bar staff that refuse to give a full glass of sodding Coke!

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
