This is a really traditional, old school pub and certainly unique. It has a really local vibe and the crowd inside on a Friday evening was friendly and we didn’t feel out of place. It’s fairly basic, but that’s part of the charm, and the choice of drinks is adequate enough with good prices for the central location. If you get over the initial impressions when you enter you’ll have a nice time and I’d happily return for a drink again.

Great pub. Proper pub though, one that feels like you're in a real pub and not a restaurant that serves beer! Staff are so nice and welcoming. You could come here alone and just get to know the people drinking in here. This is a place I'll return to time and time again. Loved it!

Consistently the best pint of Holt's bitter in the city centre and it's not a Holt's house.

A proper traditional pub with friendly staff and excellent prices for being in the centre. Quite the rarity these days so it's definitely worth the visit.

If you like an old traditional pub this is definitely worth a visit. Piano on the go with a people having an sing along in the afternoon brilliant atmosphere. Sausage rolls on the go while I was there if you fancied a quick snack can't fault it.

In my Camra book of heritage interiors. Said to be unspoilt since 1925 renovation. A proper old style pub. Sadly, there aren't that many left, but Manchester has a good number. A quiet afternoon pint. Friendly service. Just Holts bitter on handpump. A really nice traditional beer.

It's a hidden old-school gem hiding in plain sight. A proper traditional boozer serving real ales on tap as well as the usual brews The old saying "You come in as a stranger and leave as a friend" must have been written about this place. Great pub 🍺

blonde manager was rude when we asked to sit outside because we have a dog. then told we can not have a steak and ale pie after waiting an hour for starters. food ended up being cold. only good thing was the lovely waiter he was very polite and well mannered. also no coasters.

Nice little pub. I can imagine some people will find it slightly uninviting or lacking in atmosphere but that’s my favourite type of pub. No crazy loud music. No big groups of people. Nice place to go for a quiet drink. Reasonable prices.

Best pub in Manchester, bar none. They keep the best pint of Holt's bitter in town even though it's not a Holt's pub. Great staff too.

Just the best traditional pub in Manchester. Good choice of beers and always warm, cosy and full of characters. Special mention for the bar staff who are super efficient meaning that you rarely wait more than a few seconds to get served even when they're busy. Good meeting point pub as its adjacent to Shudehill tram and bus station.

Traditional and good value city centre pub, popular with a raucous older crowd. Last of its kind in Manchester?

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
