Cosy traditional pub with a decent and more unique range of drinks available. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient serving at the bar, even on a busy Friday evening. Plenty of seating available and with the good location it’s certainly somewhere I’ll be popping for a drink again in the future.

Friendly and accommodating from the offset superb atmosphere excellent selection of ales, lagers and spirits food available if you want something to eat, all very reasonably priced for a city centre venue. Definitely recommend and have no hesitation to pay a return visit if staying in the city again.

Popped in for a quick drink and a bite to eat and stayed for nearly 3 hours, a very nice pub to sit and relax in, the pulled beef sandwich was very nice along with the salad, a good selection of beer to choose from and good service, decent prices for a city centre pub

Nice atmosphere and waiters are very attentive. We ordered some sandwiches that were tasteless though and waited an hour for them to come!

I like Nicholson's pubs as they sell a good selection of real ale. ( Can be pricey.) Chose Fyne Ales Jarl over St Austell Tribute but I love both. Large upstairs room complements great downstairs bar. Been many times over the years on a once a year basis. Boothroyd came to a retirement do here 12 years ago. Maybe Biffo from the Beano!

Another really cool, beautiful English pub and restaurant. I ate another English classic, bangers and mash, and it did not disappoint. The sausage had a nice casing with a great snap, and the mash potatoes were very light. I also drank Nicholsons pale ale 🍺! Great meal, and a great time with a loud football match on the telly!

Stunning building inside and out. Service was excellent and the food delicious. Atmosphere was good and it was soon busy so glad we booked a table. Highly recommend.

Food was awful. I had macaroni cheese at £10.50 it was over done and there wasn't very much of it. It should have had a garlic flat bread with it but I got toasted brown bread.

I called in for a quick pint. Friendly enough service. Decent seating areas. Clean glass, no dome on the head. They have a menu for food also.

Great pub. Great food. Service was quick and helpful. Even though a number of menu items weren't available, there were other choices which staff helped us make. Nice to find somewhere to go on Friday night where we were comfortable, not rushed and felt safe Just a pity a group came in who felt they could vape upstairs.

Decent enough Pub, good location on Deansgate but the prices are well above average and certainly not worth it. A glass of White Wine was £9.85, Scandalous in my opinion and we won't be going back.

Door guy awesome saved a guy from falling downstairs with 2 drinks. Food was great 👍 Some bar staff a little unwelcoming. But we got past that. Might visit again in the future just for the atmosphere and food

Poor they can’t serve the correct beer in a branded glass. Waiter who brought the beer we ordered off the table order service said they had run out. Lack of effort I would say due to seeing glasses around just not washed. They weren’t silly busy at the time either but charged £6.05 for a Madri with a plain glass. Not on in my world. I asked “ so I get the beer cheaper as no branded glass” and he was embarrassed to say “no”. Get it sorted!! Really is a put off to me.

Awesome pub with a good selection of beers. Can't comment on the food as we didn't order any but it smelt delicious. Only one person behind the bar meant waiting a while for service...

Edit: feel I have to update this as I went again to try some of the food options for lunch. I had to ask through 4 different bits of food which they either didn’t have or didn’t do on the weekends…. I understand the place is busy but i thought going through 4 different options at the weekend was a bit ridiculous. ———————————— Had food and a few pints at the Sawyers Arms. Personally I would’ve given 2.5 stars but the below is a bit out of the control of the pub so I’ll give 3. It is a lovely looking bar and good location in Manchester. I booked because they had Game Suet pudding (one of my favourites) and a lentil vegetable cottage pie that I had noticed on the menus previously. Two things me and my girlfriend really enjoy. When I went to order both of these the server told me they were both out… really disappointing as this was literally the reason I booked. My girlfriend has the fish and chips (really good) and I had the “award winning” steak and ale pie. The pie I thought was really average and tasted pretty boring. Fish was good but portion was far too big. Value for money it is really good, especially for the city centre. But I was definitely expecting more, plus also looking forward to the two dishes that were out of stock didn’t help the experience much. Overall not terrible!

Wow. Worst service in Manchester. Ordered 3 burgers, which they got wrong. Only served 1 burger and told us the other 2 were coming (twice). After our turned out the other 2 were not coming, we were informed the order wasn't processed correctly and we had to order new ones. No compensation offered. Will never come again.

Lovely pub but indifferent cask ales...at £6.10! Scandal.

Difficult to rate this place only popped in for a drink. Very crowded but very easy to get served. Nice place for a drink.

One of those I highly recommend. Good service, good atmosphere etc. Bathrooms checked out good too. Sport on the big screen TV although cricket during my visit but Football was up later on. Bear normal standard from what we tried but the food was really good, we tried the fish and chips, the hunters chicken? and the meat and nicolsons pale ale pie. All good but the gold medallioned pie was something extra. All positive but be aware it is in UK so stay away from the door since it is windy inte autumn (and winter I expect).

Good choice of beer provided the lines are being cleaned.

Drinks weren't bad value, was very busy leading to a good atmosphere but felt a bit cramped. The food was good and location was close to multiple public transport links. Played football (at least world cup)

Good pub, called in here to watch a Man City game. Handsome starters and drinks; good food and staff service. Would call again.

Great Manchester pub.Very busy when we called due to Christmas Markets and the world cup Service at the bar was quick considering the amount of people in there. Only had drinks didn't try the food

Great pub, I traveled from America, had a long train ride to my hotel and the Sawyer’s Arms was my first stop in England. What an experience: it’s a beautiful old school pub in the middle of Deansgate, with very reasonable prices, good food and pint selection and the staff was very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I ended up returning several times during my stay and I look forward to doing the same when I return to Manchester.

Unspoiled, nice old pub. Great for weekday lunch. Accessible for city centre but not too close! Good food, drink and friendly staff.

Drank in there last night - a quiet Sunday. Traditional pub in central Manchester. Decent selection of beers. Bar lady pleasant and helpful. Shame that at 9.45 the manageress (I assume) appeared, turned off the music and TV (sport), then disappeared again. This was 15 mins before last orders and 30 mins before closing. It was then like drinking in a library - very unwelcoming. In fact, 6 young men walked in, commented that the place was dead, then went next door (still fully open).

Tried to go in Saturday night to a near empty pub, not had one drink and was told I couldn’t enter by the doorman for wearing shorts. The guy looked up and down at us like something he’d peeled off the bottom of his shoe. City full of people wearing shorts in the middle of a heatwave, and people literally sat the other side of the glass at the bar wearing shorts. Sad really, place looks mint and the reviews are good, but you need to have a word with him as he’s gonna cost you business 👍🏻

A tiny bit noisy for us older folk with reduced hearing capacity, but no worse for that. A good city centre pub, even if a trifle expensive, but then it is a "chain" pub. Always puzzles me why some pubs can be substantially cheaper than others. Hey ho, you make your own choices. Good staff, and quick service.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
