It's rare to be able to visit and old traditional pub in the city centre. Great atmosphere created by the people in here and the friendly staff. It's small but that adds to the experience. Its a must visit to anyone coming to Manchester. I even found myself sat next to a well known actor enjoying a quiet pint on his way to Old Trafford.

Fantastic little pub. First time in the city using a hotel reservation from a cancelled event. So just decided to hang out in Manx. This pub was just up the road. What a find. Friendly staff good beer and great banter. Loved it.

Essential to visit this old school pub if you are visiting Manchester or if you're local and have previously walked past without going in. Friendly manager, big atmosphere, well kept ale, a whole raft of unlikely characters: Perfect.

Fantastic beer. Ancient, tiny British pub. It doesn't get more real than this. Friendly atmosphere. No skulking loafers! Recommended

We we’re staying in Hotel Brooklyn & after returning from a day at the shops decided to have a drink at the hotel bar, basic pint of lager & glass of Prosecco Β£17 Mmmm we thought looked on Google for β€œpubs near me” and this little gem came up. Better beer, better service & most importantly better atmosphere & all for half the price. Guy behind bar great & customers friendly, place is tiny which adds to ambiance a must visit

A right proper pub. And as it was the first meeting of The Manchester Minstermen and they were on telly it was awesome. I'm told the best ladies loo in Manchester. Good beer.

Lovely proper pub in the heart of Manchester. I was I. Manchester for the weekend recently and went to half a dozen pubs and this was the best by far. It may be small but the staff and locals are all very friendly and most importantly it has had at least 4/5 Real Ales on every time I went in, all of which were locals and very good. Extremely well priced for the centre of the city too. By far our favourite pub in Manchester and we will be back again πŸ™‚

The Grey Horse Inn is a lovely, snug, little [as in: tiny] alehouse in downtown Manchester, a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens. A limited selection of solid real ales is available on tap, and you will find the service friendly and helpful. There's only about half a dozen tables, and upon opening it filled up very quickly. One thing about the opening times: Google Maps and a sign at the door indicate that it opens at 11 a.m., but when I was there on a Tuesday in October it didn't open until 12. Otherwise, wholly recommendable.

A great local feel to a small city centre pub dating from 1851. A pub that doesn't try and push or sell its historic nature, nor does it need to. Friendly staff, easy going locals, well-kept ales. I will be back

Fantastic small pub that’s somehow remained un-ruined in the city centre. Very well kept ales from Hyde’s. Friendly clientele and Barman to this foreigner.

Always a warm welcome when visiting this pub. One of the first pubs I visited when I moved here in 2003. On this occasion it was fairly quiet but it was late ish. The beer is always well looked after so well worth a visit if you enjoy real ale and good conversation.

First time back in many years & still a great pub. Welcoming friendly bar staff, a great pint of bitter & very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit & I won't leave it as long until my next one. Fully recommended 🍻

Fantastic traditional pub with an excellent, well kept selection of Hydes beers. The Lowry was perfect served by a very pleasant, obliging barman called Adam. Thanks Adam, you helped our visit go very well!

Lovely old pub, nicely decorated with 4 cask beers from Hydes brewery. 50 p off per pint and 20% more with CAMRA card. Happy days!

Can get really busy/hot and is quite small but calming decour/atmosphere that emits plenty of history. I don't come here often so I have to 'double take' on the cost of 'my round' every time. "I did say four pints and not three didn't I? Brings a chuckle from the friendly barmen. 3.8%- ish Hydes bitter on a par with my preference for 'Robinsons Unicorn' (The Castle Hotel) and beats any lower alcohol Holts for me. They obviously keep the beer well. I should suggest this pub more often, nice change from the usual Nothern Quarter for my lot.

Super little Hyde's pub close to the city centre with a good range of their ales, well kept and offering a CAMRA members discount.

Historical pub we visited for family history. Can't tell you about beverages (just had a j20!) but obliging staff and lots of history pics on wall. If you want to take in the ambience of old Manchester and enjoy a drink, whatever yours may be, I'm sure you will enjoy here.

This is a good pub with good beer and good service and a regular stop off when in Manchester Only thing that lets it down is the state of their gents toilets Really smelly every visit Needs sorting hopefully soon

Small local pub (Circus Tavern next door even smaller. ) Located in heart of the city. Refreshing change from the trendy bars. Been many times. Good Hydes beer but limited selection due to size. Toilets to rear in what was once an uncovered alley. Many years sgo the local Police foot patrol would pop in for a cheeky pint in said alley.

Haven't been for a few years, or feels like it, and glad to say that nothing has changed πŸΊπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ». OK so the prices are a little higher but always a good selection of well kept beers on tap. Local characters make the place that bit better than most pubs around, less business/transient customers and more friendly regulars. Long may it stay that way.
