The menu has a wide range of pies to choose from and you can either order the pie by itself that comes with gravy or pie with 2 sides. The sides weren't appealing to me: they were all carbs or too heavy to go with the pie. I ordered Kate & Sidney pie (British beef steak, kidney and ale) for £6.25. Portion was good at a reasonable price and there was adequate filling not just sauce. It wasn't really that hot (in temperature) even though they were kept warm at the counter. The staff were friendly though. It is a good place to stop by for lunch.

08/11/22: the 3rd Pieminister we've been to. This is probably the smallest. Food just as quality as the others, although on this occasion it could have been served hotter. We both had the Festive Pie: Mistle Moo - british beef steak, bacon and port. Topped with minty mush peas and bottomed with mash! I also had an Orchard Pig: Reveller cider. Dog friendly. Pieminister brand was born in 2003, starting with basic equipment and lots of hard work. Borne from ideas raised in whilst travelling Australia in the owners early 20's. Apparently, avid pie eaters that wanted to to reinvigorate the humble British pie. The first shop in Stokes Croft, Bristol, then a stall at London's Borough Market. A pitch at Glastonbury and now an empire employing over 300 people, in 15 stores. Pies are still made from the Bristol kitchen. [Tristan Hogg & Jon Simon]

First time visit, and absolutely blown away! Had mothership free ranger and was amazing. Great pie, good mash and mushy peas, and the gravy just topped it all off. The place was very busy with both dine in and take away, and our 15-20 minute wait on a busy Saturday afternoon was more than made up by the great food, and friendly and professional staff, thank you!

First experience with English pies, was not disappointed. Friendly staff that welcomed you the moment you enter and you will feel appreciated. Free ranger, mash and mushy peas was a good meal for the stomach. Juicy chicken in combination with the gravy were spot on

Cute little place to eat, good for solo and group dining. Clean and friendly staff who asked about any food allergies to make recommendations. It's expensive for saying it's just pie 🥧, mash and gravy but it worth it. I had the Heidi pie which was full of the filling with mash and gravy that is of perfect consistency. I had pork scratchings for a starter while my pie was being cooked. They are a good size portion and very yummy.

I tried the Moolin Rouge pie, British beef steak with bacon and red wine. Very tasty with a deep flavour. The mash potato is nice and smooth and the accompanying gravy very pleasant. Many different options including vegetarian and vegan available on the menu. Very reasonably priced, especially the midweek lunch special. Pie, side and soft drink for £10.

Last visited: March 2023. Very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Good start to a good night. Tasty and filling... Solo traveller rating: Even though my last visit was with a group of 8, I'd be happy to dine here on my own.

Very probably the best pie I’ve ever had. We planned to go to the noodle bar next door but came here when that was busy, and I’m happy this happened. The pie and mash was amazing!

This place is fantastic! The staff are warm and welcoming, there are a great variety of pies and sides with the beef pies and mash potatoes standing out for me. Really good value for money too, a must visit when in Manchester!

Best gluten free food in Manchester. I had a gluten free chicken pie on a bed of cheesy mash with peas. I couldn’t have been happier with my meal.

Only small venue but laid out nicely. Tasty food, decent prices and very filling. Vegan and veggie options. Clean and hygienic looking with a decent WC. The staff were lovely and friendly too.

It was so good to be able to go back to the best pie restaurant in town! Best quality of food and second to non on service. Nothing was too much trouble thanks to Mark who made it all happen for us. Very highly recommend not only for locals but tourists, especially Australian's. Love the place.

Pies were great: we tried the Christmas special with deer, lentils and bacon (they also have gluten free pies option). Mash was really nice, buttery peas and gravy ok. Not expensive at all (£9.50 for everything I mentioned). Super location and friendly staff. We’ll be back when we’ll be in Manchester again

Does exactly what it says on the tin. A pie shop, selling pies. Being in the North, they *have* to be good to stand out and they are very good indeed. Pies, filled to the brim with ingredients, made from light, flakey pasty, they are superbly good. I visited the Church Street branch for a quick late-afternoon meal on my way home. I was greeted by a lovely friendly lady who explained how it all worked, took my order and very promptly brought my food. Piping hot, very tasty and exactly what I wanted. Judging by the compliments from other diners while I was there, my positive view of Pieminister was one that was shared by others. Highly recommended - I shall return.

Chicken pie was nice, if a bit dry. Staff weren't very attentive or friendly, but by no means rude. The toilet door lock was broken.

One of the best pie I have ever had. You can also have a gluten free pie. The service was excellent too, very friendly.

Great experience eating here at Pieminister. I have visited 3 times now during my work lunch and each time has been pleasant to eat one of their pies along with a drink. My choice of pies have always been vegan and have all tasted really nice. The service is quick and the staff are friendly and can advise on the selections they have.

Good vibes, good pies, served by the ghost of John Lennon. Took a risk trying the vegan mash and it was divine, had the vegan chicken pie with it which was perfect. Would swim in the gravy if there was enough of it. Will be here again, thank you!

Pieminister in Manchester exceeded all my expectations with its incredible pies! The savory delights served here are nothing short of perfection. From the first bite to the last, each pie was a testament to craftsmanship and flavor. What sets Pieminister apart is not only the exceptional quality of their pies but also the diverse range of creative and delicious fillings. The menu caters to various tastes, ensuring there's something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit to Pieminister if you're in Manchester. The pies were delicious and the prices are okay 🤗 The place is quite small and you haven't got much space, but it's comfortable 👍🏼 Would recommend!!

What a place! Haven’t had better pies in my lifetime, so if you are interested pies, then you should check it out! The sides are amazing too. The gravy taste original even that it might come from some industrial package. The staff is very friendly and kind! Can really recommend it!

It was mediocre to say the least. I was really excited for this, after it being full booked the last time I tried visiting. I should have taken that as a sign not to visit. My pie basically had no meat in, there was 2 tablespoons of mash under my pie (some burnt onions on top) and the gravy wasn’t great either. My friends were very underwhelmed also. Not feeling very good now either. So generally a disappointing first visit

The best Pie and mash I’ve ever eaten! I’m very fussy when it comes to food and so, when visiting Manchester for Pride, decided to have a bit of traditional cuisine. After a little search this place came up and so myself and Mother went in for lunch. The premise of the menu is simple and effective. A reasonable selection of pies, additions and extras plus a combo option, which is what we went for. The wait time was very small and presentation and portion size, perfect. Now the taste….OMFG. If I could die and return as a ghost to a moment in time forever, it would be tasting this pie (sorry kids) the Mash, sweet minted peas, cheese and gravy were BANGING! And like a crack head, I’m already thinking of my next fix. I may just need to visit Manchester for this place alone. Whatever you guys have done, please may it long continue as I am very much a fan!

More “Dry pie & lots of cash.” Nothing like an authentic Pie & Mash shop. Grossly over priced, especially taking into account the tiny portions they serve, eat at 2.30pm, the pies were overcooked and looked like they’d been sat for hours, I was told they were freshly cooked today when when they opened??.. 🤔 You pay £13.50 for a tiny tired dry pie, with a small dollop of mash & peas, with 2 table spoons of gravy. When I politely the guy for more gravy, he shortly replied “I’m in a generous mood today, you have have this for free!” Not going back. 😔

Venue was nice and the staff. They were also very helpful with their shortages. Though the Leeds one food wise was better. The pie was a bit overcooked but still edible. Still would go back in Manchester.

Came here for lunch on Sunday, not too busy right when they opened. I ordered the Moo pie which has British Beef Steak and craft Ale. I don't really eat meat pies too often but it was great, flaky crust, tender beef. The gravy was a must to put on, it had great flavor. There were so many interesting flavors, I wish I could try mroe of them in the future.

2x Gluten free pie mash and gravy please! So good, takes a little longer for gluten free so they can take necessary precautions but always worth it!

Love Pie Minister - they have a small selection of Gluten Free pies but on the day I went only the award winning "Mooless Moo" was available... WOW!!! What a pie! So good! The staff are lovely and the food is fab!

I had a vegan pie with vegan mash and minty peas, it was delicious! They did very good pastry, I ate all of it. The mash lacked salt as for my taste, but with gravy it was great though. Very comforting meal. And cosy place.

A fantastic lunch or dinner time dining experience that does one simple dish incredibly well - pies! I've eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad meal. It is relatively inexpensive and they do a good range of unconventional ciders. Staff are thoroughly pleasant. They have a bit of a rush from around 12.30 to 5.30. 👍

Good selection of pies, as you'd expect, both meat and non-meat. Taste good! Friendly helpful staff. Layout of venue is long and narrow, so seating is a little cramped - if full you may be listening in on the conversations of the people next to you! Caught them on a bad day - they were understaffed and all the non-meat pies were unavailable. Despite this, the staff tried very hard to look after us.

Pies were incredible. I don't normally eat all my pastry but I did on this occasion! Mushy peas were great cause they had mint in. Mash was lovely and smooth, adding the cheese was a great idea. Will be coming back to try different pies

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
